Scholar Holger Kersten summarizes the findings of others like Russian Christian Nicolas Notovitch who found definitive documented evidence of where Jesus was for the 18 "lost years" excluded from the official Bible canon and Swami Abhedananda (author of and Why a Hindu Accepts Christ and rejects Churchianity), corroborating Notovitch's claims. This new information aligns with what the Gnostics, Essenes, and Nazarenes taught about a wise teacher who returned from the East a vegan, preaching love and oneness, and the cult mysteries of initiation to realize the death of the ego and the kingdom of GOD here and now, contradicting official church teachings more interested in controlling Romans and other followers than liberating anyone or telling them that they, too, are divine.

Primeval Archives does such a great job presenting the case then falls on his A.I. face by claiming that all the evidence that Jesus spent the missing 18 years of his life between the time he was a teen then a teacher traveling to India, Tibet, and the mystic East. All the evidence in the world wouldn't convince someone who has already made up his or her or their mind.
Is there evidence? Because if there is, then the question answers itself about who borrowed from whom. The BBC says that Jesus was a Buddhist monk during a part of those "missing years," which did not really go missing at all, but rather were buried and erased by the institution. Churches, councils, Vatican, clerical organizations, they never heard it, just as they ignore the Apocrypha, a wondrous source of Christian and pre-Christian knowledge. The lost Gnostic Gospels cannot now be ignored, nor could the parallels between what may spiritual traditions seem to be trying to say in their own way.

Truth is truth, and no one is owner of it. What the Buddha, the Awakened One, realized he shared with the world like an openhanded teacher. Jesus may have had a much smaller circle of special disciples (Apostles), but he certainly tried to tell people of his visions, realizations, and setting forth a way of following in his footsteps. It's a terrible pity the official Church took that, stripped it of its vital call for real gnosis (direct personal experience, shamanic realization, seeing to believe) and replaced it was a pitiful shell of obedience to authority, mindless learning by rote, and blind faith.
We are responsible for our own actions, which is our karma (deeds). We reap what we sow, which is to say we harvest what we plant. As is said in Buddhism, "No one saves us but ourselves; no one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path; buddhas [awakened teachers] only point the way."

One pointed to Marcus Borg’s delightful Jesus and Buddha: The Parallel Sayings as if it were proof, not necessarily of Jesus studying in Tibet, but certainly of Buddhist influence on Jesus.
Of course, the railway theory of religious thought, the assumption that if the spiritual teachings of two different religions are similar, the later teaching must in fact come from the earlier one is pretty common. But it often turns out that there is no connection. These things are examples of parallel evolution.
While it is possible that some of the gymnosophists [naked Jain asceticphilosophers] who appear to have made their way to the Roman Empire could have been Buddhist monks.
So it is not outside the realm of possibility there was some Buddhist influence on Jesus, or at least early Christianity [as with the Church Father Origen, who talked about rebirth a great deal, having the Buddha Shakyamuni (aka Ammonius Saccas) as his teacher], the rather more important point is that Jesus’ teachings were in fact not radical.
Or rather they may have been radical in the sense that they went against the grain of the day. Then as now they were also very much mainstream Jewish teachings.

He is mentioned briefly in a Theravada Buddhist text in the Pali canon as Metteyya (the Pali word for the Sanskrit Maitreya). It is a mistake to think it is the same buddha returning again as a "second coming" of a savior. The historical is completely liberated and is not reborn, but other buddhas in the distant future will arise, just as supremely awakened teachers arose prior to the historical Buddha.

“But what did he really look like, as a man living in Judaea in the 1st century? This subject has long been of interest. I have already written on John the Baptist and his clothing, but not about Jesus.
“Nevertheless, over the years, numerous television documentaries have asked me for guidance on dramatising aspects of ancient life.
“In order to give them clear directions, I gathered information about what Jesus looked like, or rather, what he is said to have worn. I would like to share this here.
“It is worth emphasising that images of Jesus over time give us clues on how Jesus was imagined in different environments but say absolutely nothing about what he really looked like.
