Parts of it look familiar, but make no mistake. This place is different. At 78 degrees north, it lies just 800 miles (1,300 kilometers) from the North Pole. And with over 2,000 permanent inhabitants, it is the northernmost real town on Earth.

There are only 50 km of road, including the small streets between houses, so people mainly get around the island on snowmobile. In fact, there are more registered snowmobiles than residents.

Anyone leaving town is required to travel with a gun and someone who knows how to use it because the islands are also home to polar bears.

The average daytime high is below freezing for all but four months of the year, and from the end of October to mid-February, the sun doesn’t rise at all. This is the long polar night.

Anders Behring Breivik is a white, 32 year old, pro-Israel, Norwegian Christian man who has already allegedly confessed to murdering 90+ people in Norway. He carried out the planned terrorist attack by first bombing government offices in an attempt to assassinate the prime minister -- then shooting scores of students with an automatic weapon on a nearby island during a political youth retreat on July 22, 2011 while dressed as a police officer.

He had written a 1,500 page "manifesto" encouraging others. It was a "false flag" attack: His motive was to have Muslims blamed for it and massacred in retaliation by Christian Europeans. He has claimed that his acts -- common in state-sponsored violence/war and PsyOps/propaganda -- mean he is not a "criminal."

If their lawyers haven't thought of it yet, the Nithyananda cult can start claiming this was all an enlightening wake up call by the omniscient guru to start paying attention to his message. Why not? It might work. People have been more gullible than that. And after all Americans (even Indian-Americans) don't care about sexual indiscretions. Hypocrisy they will not be crazy about. Why not take the approach of Osho (Bhagwan Sri Rajneesh) and actually advocate "sacred" sex? When you claim celibacy, or a vow of poverty, or some higher spiritual morality, you're setting yourself up if all that's underneath is hypocrisy.

The sex itself doesn't bother anyone. It sure doesn't bother (or surprise) the staff at WQ. No one was mad at Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods, or [name the sports figure of your choice] for the SEX. It was the lying, the lack of character, the deception. That's why people get mad. That's why devotees in India vandalize ashrams.

For the Nithyananda's website to imply that this didn't happen -- but is instead only a case of "graphics, conspiracy and rumors" -- puts the cult in a bad position. Here's the video. Anyone can see: It's clearly him. It's clearly sexual. And is that alcohol? What are those pills? Is this how the holy guru spends his off-time, laying around like a pillow prince, watching TV, and being hand fed?

Scientists find the Missing Link

A team of researchers unveiled an almost perfectly intact fossil of a 47 million-year-old primate they say represents the long-sought "missing link" between humans and apes. Officially known as Darwinius masillae, the fossil of the lemur-like creature dubbed "Ida" shows it had opposable thumbs like humans and fingernails instead of claws.

A team of amateur fossil hunters discovered the near-perfect remains inside a mile-wide crater outside of Frankfurt in 1983. Experts believe the pit was a volcanic caldera where scores of animals from the Eocene epoch died by breathing noxious volcanic fumes that kept their remains remarkably well-preserved.

Though the pit has been a bountiful source of other fossils, the inexperienced archaeologists did not realize the value of their find. Years later, the University of Oslo bought the 95%-intact fossil, and Hurum studied it in secret for two years. "We're not dealing with our grand, grand, grandmother, but perhaps with our grand, grand, grand aunt," Jens Franzen said.

The unveiling of the Ida fossil came as part of a carefully-orchestrated publicity campaign unusual for scientific discoveries.

A discovery of a 47 million-year-old fossil primate that is said to be a human ancestor was announced Tuesday at a press conference in New York City.

Known as "Ida," the nearly complete transitional fossil is 20 times older than most fossils that provide evidence for human evolution.

It shows characteristics from the very primitive non-human evolutionary line (prosimians, such as lemurs), but is more related to the human evolutionary line (anthropoids, such as monkeys, apes and humans), said Norwegian paleontologist Jørn Hurum of the University of Oslo Natural History Museum. OSLO (Reuters) – A giant fossil sea monster found in the Arctic and known as "Predator X" had a bite that would make T-Rex look feeble, scientists said Monday.

The 50 ft (15 meter) long Jurassic era marine reptile had a crushing 33,000 lbs (15 tonnes) per square inch bite force, the Natural History Museum of Oslo University said of the new find on the Norwegian Arctic archipelago of Svalbard.

"With a skull that's more than 10 feet long you'd expect the bite to be powerful but this is off the scale," said Joern Hurum, an associate professor of vertebrate paleontology at the museum who led the international excavation in 2008. More>>
