God=Tao? Converting Taoism into Christianity

How could the true "Tao" ever be limited to a personality? Pantheon of Taoist Gods (Tao.org)
  • Matteo Ricci, Latin Matthaeus Riccius (Oct. 6, 1552–May 11, 1610) was an Italian Catholic Jesuit priest and one of the founding figures of the Jesuit China missions.
Ricci: You will worship our God
He created the Kunyu Wanguo Quantu, a 1602 world map written in Chinese characters. In 2022, the Apostolic See declared its recognition of Ricci's heroic virtues, thereby bestowing upon him the honorific of venerable [1]. Ricci arrived at the Portuguese settlement of Macau in 1582, where he began his missionary work in China.

He mastered the Chinese language and writing system.

The West's Vatican will rule China!
He became the first European to enter the Forbidden City of Beijing in 1601 when invited by the Wanli Emperor, who sought his services in matters such as court astronomy and calendrical science.

He emphasized parallels between Catholicism and Confucianism but opposed Buddhism.

He converted several prominent Chinese officials to Catholicism. He also worked with several Chinese elites, such as Xu Guangqi, in translating Euclid's Elements into Chinese as well as the Confucian classics into Latin for the first time in history. More

Who was Lao Tzu, founder of Taoism?
  • Lao Tzu (aka Laozi)
    LAO TZU
(Romanized "the Old Boy," Chinese Laozi, 老子, Pinyin Lǎozǐ) was a legendary Chinese philosopher and sage traditionally credited with writing The Book of Changes or Tao Te Ching (Pinyin Dào Dé Jīng), one of the foundational texts of Taoism.
Traditional accounts identify him as Li Er, born in the 6th century BC in the state of Chu during China's Spring and Autumn period (c. 770–c. 481 BC). He is said to have served as the royal archivist for the Zhou court.

He is also said to have met Confucius (c. 551–c. 479 BC), and to have composed The Book of Changes before withdrawing into the western wilderness.

Modern scholarship, however, has questioned both Lao Tzu’s historicity and the traditional attribution of the Tao Te Ching to a single author. More
Confucius
CONFUCIUS, born Kong Qiu, was a Chinese philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period who is traditionally considered the paragon of Chinese sages. Much of the shared cultural heritage of the Sinosphere originates in the philosophy and teachings of Confucius [1].

His philosophical teachings, called Confucianism, emphasize personal and governmental morality, harmonious social relationships, righteousness, kindness, sincerity, and a ruler's responsibilities to lead by virtue [2].

He considered himself a transmitter for the values of earlier periods, which he claimed had been abandoned in his time... More

What is the Tao in Lao Tzu's Taoism?
Outline of the aura: Qigong
Taoism (pronounced Daoism) is a philosophical and religious tradition indigenous to China and is a major influence on Zen. It emphasizes harmony with the Tao (道).

With a range of meanings in Chinese philosophy, translations of Tao include "Way," "Road," "Path," or "Technique," generally understood in the Taoist sense as an enigmatic process of transforming ultimately underlying reality [2, 3].

Taoist thought has informed the development of various practices within the Taoist tradition, including forms of
  • meditation,
  • astrology,
  • qigong,
  • feng shui, and
  • internal alchemy [4].
Meister Lam in Jiuzhaigou: Qigong
A common goal of Taoist practice is self-cultivation, a deeper appreciation of the Tao, and a more harmonious existence [with nature].

Taoist ethics [that blended until they are thought to be of Buddhist origin in Zen] generally emphasize virtues of effortless action, naturalness, simplicity, and the three treasures of compassion, frugality, and humility.

Taoism is a distinct tradition with its own scriptures, priestly lineages, and ritual systems, but it has long been closely intertwined with Zen and Chinese folk religion, and the boundary between them is often fluid in practice [5].

The core of Taoist thought crystallized during... More

Hypocrisy, poetry, iconoclasm in Zen

Wild Ways: Zen Poems of Ikkyu
Japanese Zen Buddhist priest Ikkyū (一休宗純, Ikkyū Sōjun) was an iconoclast with an "enlightenment certificate" (inkajo). He was born in 1394 and died in 1481. He was an eccentric, iconoclastic, "crazy wisdom" Japanese Zen Buddhist monk, poet, musician, alcoholic, and womanizer.

He had an impact on the infusion of Japanese art and literature with Zen attitudes and ideals [1]. He is perhaps best known for his radical approach to Zen, which included breaking Buddhist monastic precepts and his stance against celibacy [2, Note 1].
Biography
In 1394, Ikkyū was born in a small suburb of Kyoto, Japan. It is generally held that he was the illegitimate child of Emperor Go-Komatsu and a low-ranking court noblewoman [1]. His mother was forced to flee to Saga, where Ikkyū was raised by servants.

At the age of 5, Ikkyū was separated from his mother and placed in a Rinzai Zen temple in Kyoto, Japan called Ankoku-ji, as an acolyte [1, 5].

The temple masters taught Chinese culture and language as part of the curriculum, a method termed Gozan Zen. He was given the name "Shuken" and learned about Chinese poetry, art, and literature. More

Sex scandal: Nun 'sexting with priest'

Aurora Bosotti, 6/30/23 | UPDATED; Crystal Q., Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Mistakes were made. I was on fentanyl. But what's his excuse? I'm suing! Rev. Mother Superior
Teresa Agnes Gerlach was ousted from her convent on 6/1/23 (CBS News•Fort Worth Diocese).
.
Texas nun evicted from monastery in heated row over 'sexting with priest'
Gypsy Rose Blanchard on sex life w/ husband
The ousted nun had previously rejected claims that she had violated her vows of celibacy after allegedly confessing to the technological (and sinful) relationship while under the influence of fentanyl.

A Texas Catholic Carmelite nun, not a mere sister but the mother superior, who was accused of having an illicit sexual affair with a Catholic priest was evicted from her nunnery (convent) after admitting to sexting the man of the cloth.

Rev. Gerlach has sued Bishop Olson
Rev. Mother Superior Teresa Agnes Gerlach, 43, had previously denied the accusation and launched a $1 million lawsuit alongside her sisters against Bishop of Fort Worth Michael Olson.

The bishop secured a confession about the scandalous affair during an interview on April 24, 2023, in which Rev. Gerlach maintains she was still heavily medicated and under the influence of fentanyl because of a recent surgery.

The nun, who is in a wheelchair and uses a feeding tube on a day-to-day basis, was removed from the Carmelite Nunnery of the Most Holy Trinity she led in Arlington, Texas, on June 1, 2023, after the patriarchal diocese found she had had a fling with Father Bernard Marie of Montana
  • [who is completely innocent because he is a man and the church needs all the priests it can lure in and hold on to, even if they engage in homosexual child molestation of young boys, gambling, seducing nuns, or other improprieties because, as Pope Francis, the CEO of the Catholic Church of the head of the Holy Roman Church, has said, "Who am I to judge?"]
"Who am I to judge [sexy priests]?" - Pope F
In a recording of the interview with Bishop Olson, Rev. Gerlach can be heard saying: "I made a horrible, horrible mistake. I was not in my right mind. Even a nun can fall.”

The Fort Worth Diocese and Rev. Gerlach are currently in dispute on whether the case should be handled in civil court or let the Vatican intervene in what the bishop has maintained is a Canon Law issue.

Bishop Olson testified in court that Gerlach's fellow nun Sr. Francis Therese had informed him the Mother Superior's relationship with the priest involved "sexting."

In the audio recording, Rev. Gerlach said she had been getting [sexually] frisky with the priest, but just on the phone, oh, and on video calls. But she said they never met in person.

She said: "Bishop, I need to tell you something. I don’t know how to explain this, but this did not happen in person. At all. It was all over the phone.

"I promise you, Bishop. At the time, I was having seizures [a sign of demonic possession in the Church], and I was really in a very difficult position. and I think my brain just got really messed up." More

Jewish-Christian God/Bible OKs rape, killing

Ashley Wells, Seth Auberon, Sheldon S., Seven, Pat Macpherson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
OMG (Oh my goodness) the sexism of this patriarchy bull carp is palpable and unbelievable.

Jews and Christians approved to rape foreigners (Numbers 31:17) and locals (Deut. 22:28-29).
You got too high, Icky. You're not supposed to read it with a thinking cap (Flight of Icarus).
.
Moses is pro-murder + pro-rape.
Reading the Judeo-Christian Bible is scary. It's a little easier to listen to.

It's impossible to believe but strange to think that people who know what the Bible says do believe and worship it or resign themselves saying, "Well, that's just the way our God is," our killer and our punisher who will smite us for so much as smirking or spilling semen anytime He feels like it.

Read (or listen to) The Book of Judges. And about that seed spilling incident, it was semen and sperm Christian use as the basis for their "Thou shalt not masturbate" [or God will kill you just like he did Onan] rule.

I'll mutilate your genitals for my king, Philistine!
He wasn't mad about the "spilling," which was actually tossed on purpose, not "spilled" by accident. The God was enraged at the direct disobedience or his order to impregnate his dead brother's sister. Read the story. Purposeful mis-translators claim that Onanism is "masturbation" when it isn't that at all: There was no masturbation, just obedient, consensual sex with Onan's dead brother's wife, as Jewish rule commanded him. But he tossed his seed rather than risk getting her pregnant.

Smite you, Son of a Motheandfather! Have your way with him, for all I care, lusty Old Man.
.
Is the Bible's Book of Judges hidden history? Forget the rape (Moses encourages at Deuteronomy 22:28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,...[just pay the fine to her owner, her father, and then marry her] Biblehub.com) and incest (two daughters get their father drunk to take sexual advantage of him 🙄), Christians sure don't talk about that book very much. It's a litany of wars and mass killings or ethnic cleansing.

Are Jews and Christians proud of their God for being a maniacal killer, egging on and encouraging humans to kill? Kill for sacrifice, kill for punishment, kill for conquest of land, kill for misbehavior, kill, kill, kill, and you're doing a good thing, pleasing to your loving God.

Oh and remember, follow the 10 Commandments at all times, especially the first rule, "Thou shalt not kill [with some exceptions]."

Rape is OK by God. Just pay the fine and marry.
The God not only wants followers, Jewish (with 613 Commandments, according to Jewish author A. J. Jacobs) and Christian (with 10 commandments), to kill their disobedient children and other misbehavers, there's lots more. Thou shalt not cross dress or go around in drag, even if it turns you on or if you're president.
But what if you were sexually molested by men, maybe a trusted uncle or priest, and are acting out, questioning your gender assignment and sexual preference, God? Kill him.

Okay, what if it's just a lark and a turn on, having been traumatized by early childhood molestation? Kill him extra.

Okay, what if it's a skit for school? Kill him and burn the school.
Don't rape my son! God will kill him if you do!
It's like one can't win with this God(s), since the words of Gods are always plural in the Bible, making a mockery of monotheistic claims for a heavily polytheistic book and religion. With one true best God, of course. How could we forget Him? Toils in the desert nitpicking after having created the universe and all that's in it, including presumably the other gods He's so jealous of. His own word, "For yours is a jealous God" (biblescan.com).

Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible
Author and narrator A. J. Jacobs, publisher Simon & Schuster Audio

With 4.3 out of 5 stars with 2,304 ratings, it's an editors' pick in Best Biographies & Memoirs. After his hilarious chronicle about reading the Encyclopedia Britannica, fearless author A. J. Jacobs tackles a new adventure, an exploration of the most influential book in the world: the Bible.

He determined the best way to explore the Bible was to live it, as literally as possible, for one year. There are 700 rules in the Old and New Testaments, A. J. discovered -- some wise, some general, some contradictory.

Some come from Jesus, some from prophets, some from God. A. J. assembled a board of spiritual advisors: Jewish rabbis, Christian ministers, and priests, some conservative, some of them "one four-letter word away from excommunication," who would provide guidance and advice throughout his journey.

But the journey was, by necessity, arbitrary, DIY religion. In The Year of Living Biblically, A. J. explores the Bible chronologically, from the Old Testament (crucial, given the 10 Commandments) to the New Testament (crucial, given America's powerful evangelical movement with its fundamentalist literal interpretation of the Bible) and lives the Bible on every level.

He obeys the 10 Commandments; he is fruitful and multiplies (having twins during his year); he remembers the Sabbath and keeps it holy. But he also obeys the oft-neglected rules, such as avoiding clothes of mixed fibers and refraining from shaving the edges of his beard (Leviticus 19:27).

So throughout the year A. J. is commonly mistaken for a member of ZZ Top or Moses, Jesus or a rural Orthodox Jew in the city, maybe Noah or a fiddler who just got off a roof.

This is a look at religion today through one man's totally arbitrary and deeply funny journey. In A. J.'s hands, The Year of Living Biblically is also fascinating and irresistible. More

Chronovisor: The Vatican's Secret Device to See Through Time
(The Why Files) Vatican City is an inspirational place. One needn't be a Catholic or even religious to appreciate the stolen goods, war booty, architecture, art, and the city's historical significance.

The site of world Catholicism was previously the site of world Mithras worship before converting to the Jesus worship. Jesus may have been a small historical figure, but his myth (backstory) was built up as an amalgamation of the best of all the religions that the Vatican could get their hands on by many imperial campaigns.
  • (The bishops were the would-be princes of Rome giving themselves more powerful by replacing a political empire with a bigger religious one).
There is a place within the Vatican that's rarely seen. Hidden beneath the city (often called the Holy See) is an underground fortress. It's inaccessible to the public and protected by armed guards and state-of-the-art security called the Secret Apostolic Archives.

Within the stone and steel reinforced walls are vaults, climate-controlled rooms, and over 50 miles of bookshelves. On those shelves are countless texts, relics, and artifacts collected by the Church for over 1,000 years.

One of the most intriguing objects hidden in the archive is called the Chronovisor (spoken of by American attorney and whistleblower Andrew D. Basiago of Project Pegasus). It is a device that can view events anywhere and any time in history.

For years, its existence was just a rumor. No proof of the Chronovisor was ever found. But a book released by a Vatican priest would change all that. Let's find out why.

Lust, sex in Alice in Wonderland (video)

Timeline: History, 9/15/17; Ashley Wells, Dhr. Seven, CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly, Wiki

The Secret World of Lewis Carroll
Sexy or "artistic"? Alice photos by Carroll, c. 1861
ALICE IN WONDERLAND, 1865, is said to be the most quoted book in print, second only to the Bible.

It has a passionate army of fans who regularly congregate around the world to celebrate its rich and playful world.

But what of its creator, the mild-mannered Oxford U Math Professor Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (a.k.a. stuttering author and photographer Lewis Carroll)?

Famed not only for his wonderful stories, Lewis Carroll is also known for his ambiguous relationship with the young girl who inspired his most beloved creation: Alice [in Wonderland] Liddell.

A different time, marriage at 12
It was a seemingly innocent infatuation that he documented in his pioneering and provocative child photography.

With contributions from the likes of thespian Richard E. Grant, social commentator Will Self, and author Philip Pullman, at once adoring and provocative, this documentary casts a conflicted eye over the creation of mischievous Wonderland.

Don't make it dirty, dear Dodgey!
Pouring through historical evidence and stories passed down through generations, hear the tale of Carroll’s first encounter with the three underage Liddell girls and the first telling of Alice’s tumble down the rabbit hole one.

It was a hot and humid summer’s afternoon in a boat on the River Thames. This documentary was first broadcast in 2015. Content licensed from All3 Media International. Produced by Swan Films.
Child sex scandal: private diary confessions?
Wisdom Quarterly Wiki edit
"Come to bed," Liddell sisters with come hither looks. The age of consent appropriate for marriage proposals in England at that time was 12. (Suggestive photos by author Lewis Carroll).
.
At least four complete volumes and around seven pages of text are suspiciously missing from Lewis Carroll/Prof. Dodgson's 13 diaries.[90]

The curious disappearance of the missing volumes remains unexplained for such a meticulous and obsessive writer. The pages were removed by an unknown hand.

Most scholars assume that the diary material was removed by family members in the interests of preserving the family name. But this has not been proven to everyone's satisfaction.[91] Definitive evidence of sexual misconduct was presumably destroyed to preserve the author's reputation.

Except for one page, material is missing from his diaries for the period between 1853 and 1863 (when Carroll was 21-31 years old).[92][93] This was a period when the writer began suffering great mental and spiritual anguish and confessing to an overwhelming sense of his own sin.

This was also the period of time when he composed his extensive love poetry, leading to speculation that the poems may have been autobiographical and about Alice Liddell.[94][95]

Many theories have been put forward to explain the missing material. A popular explanation for one missing page (June 27, 1863) is that it was torn out to conceal a proposal of marriage on that day by Dodgson to the 11-year-old Alice.

However, no conclusive evidence has been made public to suggest that this was so. One paper allegedly offers a little evidence to the contrary. It is said to have been discovered by Karoline Leach in the Dodgson family archive in 1996.[96]

"Cut pages in diary document"

It is known as the "cut pages in diary document." It was compiled by various members of Carroll's family after his death. [So is it an admission that they cut the pages?]

Part of it may have been written at the time when the pages were torn out or destroyed, though this is unclear. The document offers a brief summary of two diary pages that were removed, including the one for June 27, 1863.

The summary for this page states that Alice's mother Mrs. Liddell told Lewis Carroll/Reverend Dodgson that there was gossip circulating about him and the Liddell family's governess, as well as about his sexual relationship with the child "Ina," presumably Alice's underage sister Lorina Liddell.

The "break" with the Liddell family that occurred soon after was presumably in response to this sexual gossip.[97][98]

A plausible alternative interpretation has been made regarding Carroll's rumored sexual involvement with the child "Ina": Lorina was also the name of Alice Liddell's mother.

What is deemed most crucial and surprising is that the document seems to imply that Carroll/Dodgson's break with the Liddell family was not connected with the child Alice but her sister or someone else. It is odd that a recently discovered document is used to try to prove this.

Until a primary source is discovered, the events -- and the secret sexual life of the sinful celibate math don Lewis Carroll -- will remain in doubt. More
