Oldest pyramid site in Asia: Koh Ker

Exploring the enigmatic Koh Ker Pyramid: Cambodia's hidden architectural marvel

Buddhist pyramids like the Maya of Mexico?
Koh Ker (Khmer ប្រាសាទកោះកេរ្ដិ៍, Brasat Kaôh Kértĕ) is a remote Buddhist archeological site in northern Cambodia about 75 miles (120 kms) from Siem Reap and the ancient site of Angkor (and Angkor Wat). It is a jungle-filled region that is sparsely populated. More than 180 sanctuaries have been found in a protected area of 31 square miles (81 square kms) [1]: 13. Only about two dozen monuments can be visited by tourists because most of the sanctuaries are hidden in the forest and the whole area is not fully de-mined. Koh Ker is the modern name for an important city of the Khmer Empire. In inscriptions the town is mentioned as Lingapura ("City of Lingams") or Chok Gargyar [2]: 70 (translated as "City of Glance" [3] or as Iron Tree Forest) [1]: 8–9. More

Cambodia's Angkor Wat has been a sign of peace and perfection for hundreds of years, but new scans have just shown a secret vault that has been locked for 900 years. It isn't gold or wealth inside. It is something much scarier. Why stay put to see what it is? What's below Angkor Wat will make everyone question everything we thought we knew about history.

Buddhist Thailand and Cambodia at war

Have Israel and the CIA's crimes in Gaza made war the norm?

Thailand Cambodia War Timeline Explained?
(AiTelly) July 25, 2025: UNITED STATES. The roots of the Thailand–Cambodia border crisis stretch deep into the colonial past, when the Franco-Siamese treaties of the early 1900s left boundaries ill-defined and susceptible to later dispute.
Tensions simmered for decades, especially around ancient Buddhist temples that dot the border. Among these, Prasat Ta Muen Thom and the areas near Preah Vihear became focal points for competing national claims, bearing not just strategic significance but also the weight of cultural pride.

(DW) Could US and China become involved in neighborly dispute?
  • What's the real motive beyond the manufactured pretext? Gas or oil reserves, greed of a corrupt Thai government, greed for tourist destinations? This is not a religious dispute but an economic one, according to one Thai American Wisdom Quarterly spoke with. It is reminiscent of Israel's greed for Gaza's underground resources, preferring to let people believe it is all about ideology, national security, and a biblical dispute rather than what it really is, genocide for economic advantage.
As the year 2025 began, a sense of unease hovered along the frontier. On May 28, the fragile calm shattered. Gunfire erupted at the Emerald Triangle, where Thai and Cambodian soldiers exchanged shots.

The clash caused the lives of one Cambodian soldier, and the Blame Game began immediately, with each nation accusing the other of provocation. By June 7, the rhetoric gave way to visible preparations for confrontation.

Thailand bolstered its border positions, simultaneously leveling accusations of provocations against Cambodian forces and civilians. Throughout June and July, the border region grew ever more volatile. Spasms of minor clashes flared up, border crossings shut down, and the movement of civilians became increasingly restricted.

Military alerts were raised on both sides. The crucial turning point arrived on July 24, 2025. Before dawn, Thai troops reported the presence of Cambodian drones buzzing near Prasat Ta Muen Thom.

A patrol of six armed Cambodian soldiers soon appeared at the perimeter of a Thai base, setting nerves on edge.

Around 6:30 am, shots rang out once again. The chaos of combat bred confusion and recrimination: Cambodia accused Thailand of launching an unprovoked assault, while Thailand claimed Cambodian soldiers had fired first near the temple.

The conflict escalated with frightening speed. By 9:40 Thailand reported a salvo of B M-21 rockets arcing from Cambodian positions toward Prasat Don Tuan, their impact threatening nearby civilian neighborhoods.

Barely ten minutes later, the violence spilled to the vicinity of Ta Kwai Temple, where further clashes erupted. At 10:58 am, the smoldering border ignited fully F-16 fighter jets from the Royal Thai Air Force thundered overhead, bombing Cambodian military positions at Chong An Ma.

Thai officials declared that key Cambodian command posts had been destroyed. As the day wore on, the fighting sprawled along several kilometers of the contested boundary. Artillery thundered, rockets exploded, and both armies unleashed heavy weaponry, transforming the frontier into a battleground.

Happy Summer Solstice (June 21)

Angkor Wat: equinoxes and solstices were encoded into the ancient architecture

The marvels of ancient Angkor
The best place to be this morning is in the former Khmer Empire, modern Cambodia, in the center of one of the largest ancient cities in the world at the Buddhist-Hindu temple at the center of it, Angkor Wat. (Wat means monastery complex or vihara).
The second-best place to be is in the middle of New York City at the holy site of "Manhattanhenge" where signs of intelligent life must have built a megastructure aligned with the astronomical objects in the visible sky, possibly with extraterrestrial assistance.

Here Comes the Sun (The Beatles)
Some say massive structures like the "Empire State" Building were in fact pre-Mud Flood architectural feats being taken credit for by modern builders with widely circulated photos of men eating lunch in precarious worksites as if that were all the proof needed.

LONDON, England — As the sun rose Saturday on the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, a crowd erupted in cheers at Stonehenge where the ancient monument in southern England has clocked the summer solstice over thousands of years.
Sun also rises, not earth moving
The orange ball crested the northeast horizon behind the Heel Stone, the entrance to the stone circle, and shone its beam of light into the center of one of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments.

The solstice is one of the few occasions each year when visitors are allowed to walk among the stones, which are otherwise fenced off.

  • What did the ancients know and practice?
The miracle of Newgrange, Ireland, eclipses Stonehenge (like Adam's Calendar, Africa)...so that's why we've never heard of it. Newgrange (Irish Sí an Bhrú [1]) is a prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland, placed on a rise overlooking the River Boyne, five miles (8 km) west of the town of Drogheda [2]. It is an exceptionally grand passage tomb built during the Neolithic Period, around 3100 BC [3], making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Newgrange is the main monument in the Brú na Bóinne complex, a World Heritage Site that also includes the passage tombs of Knowth and Dowth, as well as other henges, burial mounds [which are a kind of stupa], and standing stones [3]. Newgrange consists of a large circular mound with an inner stone passageway and cruciform chamber More
The crowd gathered before dawn at the World Heritage Site to mark the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, beating the heat during the U.K.'s first amber heat-health alert issued since September 2023.

Temperatures later topped 91.4 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius) in Surrey, 80 miles (128 kilometers) east of Stonehenge, the hottest temperature recorded in the U.K. so far this year.

About 25,000 sun devotees (sun cult worshippers) and other revelers -- including Druids, pagans, hippies, locals, and tourists -- showed up, according to English Heritage which operates the site.

More than 400,000 others around the world watched a livestream. “This morning was a joyous and peaceful occasion with the most beautiful sunrise," said Richard Dewdney, head of operations at Stonehenge. “It is fantastic to see Stonehenge continuing to enchant and connect people.”

Stonehenge was built [and constantly re-adjusted] in stages 5,000 years ago on the flat lands of Salisbury Plain approximately 75 miles (120 kilometers) southwest of London.

The Sky People built mound-pyramids to the sun
[A few decades ago modern cranes and equipment were used to set up a pile of fallen stones, aligning them to their current positions; those photos were then forgotten, though they still exist, and everyone assumes ancient Druids built what is seen today 5,000 years ago before modern explorers stumbled onto the site. The walk from the carpark to the erected stones used to be lined with sandwich boards explaining the artificial evolution of the site with many adjustments over time, not one permanent setup millennia earlier.]

The unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2,500 B.C. Sunrise at Stonehenge draws druids, pagans and revelers to celebrate the summer solstice

Equinox up close at Angkor Wat (temple)

Welcome to the temple (wat) at Angkor! What we wish we’d known before visiting Angkor Wat (Sunrise Tour) 🇰🇭

(Praveen Mohan) How old is Angkor Wat really?

(The Buddymoon and Probably Lost) April 27, 2023: CAMBODIA - Today's video embarks on a journey to visit the iconic Angkor Wat temple in the massive old city of Angkor, Cambodia.

We had heard so much about the beauty of Angkor Wat at sunrise, so we decided to wake up early and experience it for ourselves. But what we discovered was not what we expected. As we arrived at the temple, the sky was still dark, and we were surrounded by the sounds of nature.

As the sun began to rise, we were amazed to see the temple slowly coming to life with the golden light of dawn. The intricate carvings and architecture of Angkor Wat were breathtaking, and we couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder.

But what surprised us the most was the number of visitors who had arrived to witness the sunrise. We had expected a peaceful and quiet experience. Instead, we were surrounded by a large crowd of tourists.

However, despite the crowds, the magic of Angkor Wat at sunrise was not lost on us.

We learned about the rich history of Angkor Wat, which was built in the 12th century as a Hindu temple and later converted to a Buddhist temple (though one religion seems to include the other). The temple complex is vast, and it takes at least three days to fully explore all the temples, each with its unique charm and beauty.

Overall, we recommend getting a three-day pass to Angkor Wat to fully appreciate its splendor and history. Despite the crowds, witnessing Angkor Wat at sunrise was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we'll never forget. Join us on our journey to Angkor Wat and discover its magic with us!

Angkor Wat on the equinox 2024

As thousands gather to see the spectacle, many having planned on adding the leg to their Thailand itinerary, it's hard to imagine every massive Buddhist temple and monolith doesn't get the same adoration and treatment. The builders obviously knew all about celestial events and alignments. This footage is from earlier in the year, and today is no exception as fall equinox dawns on the planet.

Angkor Wat Buddhist Temple: Eviction of 10K

Thaiger (thethaiger.com); Pat Macpherson, Dhr. Seven, CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

10,000 Angkor Wat residents facing forced mass eviction
The UNESCO world heritage site of Angkor Wat, the largest religious complex in the world [almost as big as the unexcavated Buddhist temple complex of Mes Aynak, Afghanistan], is facing a humanitarian crisis.

About 10,000 people who live in and around the site have been told that they must move before the new year. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen describes it as “voluntary relocations,” but residents being pushed out of their homes and businesses with very little compensation view it more as forced mass eviction.

Amazing walls of Angkor Wat trace long history of devas and apsaras interacting with humans.
.
Not only Angkor Wat, there are other temples
The temples of Angkor Wat span 400 square kilometers and were designated as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1992.

It is considered one of the most important religious complexes in the world [blending Buddhism and Hinduism], like the Vatican [which blends Mithra worship and Catholicism].

It is also the primary income driver for the town of [archeology-rich] Siem Reap and home to about 10,000 residents who set up shops, offer guide services, and sell food and souvenirs around the complex.

The ancient site was once a myth
But last summer, authorities began showing up at market stalls telling everyone they had to be out by the end of the year at the latest. Some have been offered small plots of land as compensation.

The land is in an undeveloped area about 20 kms from Angkor Wat, which wouldn’t provide much by way of work opportunities for the relocated residents [who would lose thei] vending opportunities they enjoy now]. More
