The Khuddaka Nikaya, or "Collection of Little Texts" (Pali khudda = "smaller," "lesser"), the fifth division of the Sutta Pitaka ("Discourse Collection"), is a wide-ranging collection of 15 books (18 in the Burmese Tipitaka), containing complete sutras, verses, and smaller fragments of Dhamma (Teachings). Researcher and author Michael "The Forbidden Archeologist" Cremo discusses his latest work on consciousness and intriguing discoveries challenging conventional paleoanthropology. A focal point of the conversation is the recent discovery of a species of pachycephalosaur dinosaurs in Montana, USA, known for their distinctive domed skulls. These herbivorous dinosaurs measured about 10 feet long and lived approximately 75 million years ago, before being wiped out by an asteroid impact near the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.
Cremo challenges the long-held belief that humans and dinosaurs never coexisted. He cites evidence of human-like footprints dating back to the Cretaceous period and describes a "Jurassic dinosaur bone...with cut marks...like somebody had taken some sharp instrument and used it to strip the flesh off this dinosaur bone." These findings suggest a possible overlap between humans and dinosaurs, a position dismissed by mainstream scientists.
Currently involved in the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium project in India, Cremo says he is developing exhibits that explore concepts such as cyclic time and the soul's journey through different bodies (reincarnation) in different planetary systems.
He emphasizes the need for new explanations of human origins that incorporate all of the data -- particularly ooparts (out of place artifacts) and the concept of consciousness.
Having attended the Science of Consciousness Conference in Barcelona, Spain, he quotes one scientist from the conference who likened theories of consciousness to "toothbrushes," noting: "Everybody has one, but nobody seems to want to use the other person's," highlighting the fragmented and inconclusive nature of current scientific understanding.
Cremo argues that ancient civilizations had a sophisticated grasp of consciousness and the "self" (atman, ego) as distinct from the physical body. He points out that many ancient texts, such as the Vedic scriptures of the Brahmin priests claimed by Hinduism, describe a multidimensional universe (multiverse) with conscious selves transmigrating through various planes of existence.
"In the Vedic texts," he notes, "they speak of 400,000 human-like species scattered throughout the universe, some with amazing powers and abilities beyond what we are able to accomplish."
The Vedas also indicate there have been interactions between these entities and humans for vast periods of time called yugas, kalpas, and maha-kalpas (epochs, aeons, and great aeons). More

In fact, we can't refer to an absolute expansion speed of the universe because we can't measure it in reference to anything external.
We can only gauge the "speeds" of distant galaxies that are receding from us relative to our own position.
Apart from those that are gravitationally bound (such as, say, the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies), all galaxies appear to be moving away from each other as the "space-time" in which they're embedded expands.

Finally, to suggest that the Buddha may have known what he was talking about, thousands of years ago he was asked to define an "aeon," a kalpa.
His practical answer suggests he was defining a great aeon, an unimaginable length of time, the duration of a universe or longer. We cannot imagine such timespans, except that now science throws around the idea of our universe being 13 billion years or more (given that older light is sometimes spotted by new space telescopes like Hubble and that newest one). How does a teacher of Truth begin to define a thing that cannot be imagined? He uses his imagination to stagger his audience with the otherwise inconceivable. The Buddha answered by saying:
Imagine a piece of flawless marble or granite one yojana (seven miles) long, one yojana tall, and one yojana wide. Now further imagine a person coming by every hundred years and wiping this great mass of flawless stone without crack or crevice with a piece of soft Kasi cloth (the finest muslin). That entire mass of rock would be worn down to nothing, and yet a single kalpa would still not have elapsed ("The Mountain," Pabbata Sutta, SN 15:5, Dhr. Seven translation).
The strange thing about Sanskrit and Pali terms is that, while kalpa means "aeon," it can also mean "lifespan" and so be as short as one human lifespan, which is variable duration between 80,000 years and less than 120. At that time, females reach puberty after 500 years. (But here "500" does not really mean a literal half of a millennium. It means "many," like when we in modern American English hyperbolically say, "There was a million of them" and there was nowhere near an actual million (as in acne pustules on a teenager's face) or there were many more than a million, but we stopped counting (as with the number of stars visible in the night sky not beset by light pollution).
That is not all the Buddha said because he was making a point about the insidious nature of rebirth. We all want to live, to pursue new stimuli and indulge in sensual pleasures, so much so that we cling to life, but we eventually die. This unsatisfied craving -- which can never be satisfied except that we think, "Oh, sure it can, with the next thing," because each thing obtained ultimately disappoints -- engenders another rebirth. How many rebirths? Countless, too many to count, because it's been going on for unimaginable kalpas. So the Buddha made his point:
"And we have all wandered on through many such aeons -- many hundreds, many thousands, many hundreds of thousands of them. Why? Birth has no known beginning.
"Long enough has one experienced disappointment, experienced pain, experienced loss, swelling up the cemeteries, long enough to become disenchanted with all things, long enough to become dispassionate, long enough to be free [of clinging to] all things." Let go and be free.

A startling new report asserts that the first known Americans arrived much, much earlier than scientists said - more than 100,000 years ago - and maybe they were Neanderthals. This finding would far surpass the "widely accepted" date of about 15,000 years ago (AP).
How old are stone skulls people find?
A Vedic "Day of Brahma" is an "aeon" or kalpa (hundreds of millions of years), which vary in length, some being of indeterminate duration. The Buddha defined a "great aeon" (maha-kalpa) as consisting of four ordinary aeons.
The duration is so staggering that he gave a simile of a flawless mountain of granite a mile long, a mile high, a mile wide. On it each century a small bird comes to whet its beak while holding a piece of fine Kasi cloth. Well, that mound of granite would be ground down to nothing and still one kalpa will not yet have elapsed.
Ancient discoveries are hidden from public
Forbidden archaeology about human origins refers to texts and tangible artifacts and discoveries that do not fit into conventional timelines and theories of mainstream academic and scientific communities.
Neanderthals built mysterious underground circles around 175,000 years ago inside a cave in France. They arranged pieces of stalagmites in rings, as well as in separate piles that they used to light fires upon.

This showed a high level of intelligence, he noted, as the beings had to collaborate to pull off the accomplishment, given that the stalagmites were quite heavy.
The standard idea is that the Neanderthals came into existence about 300,000 to 400,000 years ago, and modern humans (Homo sapien sapiens) like us came much later.
But there is plenty of evidence to show that anatomically modern humans were present in Europe at the same as Neanderthals and even before. For example, a couple years ago, archaeologists found footprints resembling modern humans in a layer of rock in Happisburgh, England dating back to around 900,000 years.
While we say there is "no explanation," that means it is not yet confirmed and accepted as scientifically-verified fact within our consensus reality. But there is an explanation, one that is very convincing.
Here, two experts (Cremo and Pye) pursuing separate lines of research come to the same conclusion many -- including the Buddha and the ancient seers of the Vedas -- reported: This world, the living beings on it, mainly but not exclusively the humans and animals, are much, much, much older than is reported in the stories archeologists and anthropologists try to tell us.
Even the Bible -- that bestseller of an imperial Roman psy-ops campaign -- is misleading because few Christians or Jews realize that it is based on much older tales and histories handed down from Sumer (Sumerian civilization, which itself did not originate them), Egypt, Mithraic mysteries of the Near East, Lumeria, and other epochs.
The Buddha spoke of aeons (various kinds of kalpas, ordinary, great, and of indeterminate duration).
The Vedas, which come from the Indus Valley Civilization that flourished 10,000 years ago, also speak of an inconceivable number of kalpas and periods measured out in astronomical numbers. Given scientific discoveries that claim this planet Bhumi or Earth is a little more than 4.2 billion years old, we would guess that humanoid earthling life has existed on it for about 3 billion years.
But that is just this planet this time around. Cycles of world-origination, world-dissolution, and indeterminate periods in between are constantly churning. What remains true is the ability of karma. The kalpas stretch much further back, an inconceivably long time. How long is difficult to fathom or specify exactly. But the Buddha was asked, and this is how he answered:
Imagine a stone mountain made of marble one mile high, one mile wide, one mile deep, without a fissure or crack, and a bird comes and lands on top of this single great mass of rock, this monolith, and wipes its beak using a fine silk cloth from Kasi (Varanasi) once every hundred years. Well, that great mass of rock, that monolith would sooner be worn down completely and yet one great-kalpa (major aeon) would still not have elapsed.
It staggers the imagination, but that is how it is with ancient Indian reckoning, and the same may be said of ancient Mayan, Khmer, and other advanced civilizations of the past with stunning knowledge of the stars, 26,000-year cycles, and patterns they could not have developed without off-planet assistance. The fact is, we have always had otherworldly intervention, help, and information to guide life on this planet and on other planets. The galaxy and universe is FULL of life much more advanced than our own.

The first person we can turn to is the Forbidden Archeologist Michael Cremo (mcremo.com) who explains life on Earth and the existence of "modern" man (Homo sapien sapien) hundreds of millions of years ago, as distinct from current accepted archeology from gatekeepers in the university who claim we are only 30,000 years old.
Cremo's numbers are based on artifacts that contradict and can in no way be accommodated using the theories being promoted by gatekeepers and others "approved" sources. One should understand that it is not that the powers that be in these fields do not know better. They do. But they have much to lose and little to gain by accepting what the data says. Their careers are more important that going against the grain of acceptability.
The other person is the late Lloyd Pye, who is in agreement with the great Zacharia Sitchin, a pioneering researcher and interpreter of ancient Sumerian, Hebrew, and other sacred texts. He is much more direct in accusing "respectable" scientists of wearing blinders and promoting the party line. Even though science is a series of corrections guided by the evidence -- wherever it takes us -- that is not the way science is actually handled. Instead, we have something that is full of implicit bias and a great deal of self-interest, the opposite of the dispassionate objectivity it claims for itself.

Author Lloyd A. Pye (1946-2013) claims a superior alien race called the Anunnaki (Sumerian "gods" who came from the sky from the planet Nibiru) incrementally terraformed and populated Earth for their own reasons.
They later returned to Earth and, through a process of genetic manipulation, produced humans [earthlings]. These ideas come from translating and interpreting ancient Sumerian texts (Anunnaki and Nibiru are names from Sumerian history). Pye argues that these alien beings are responsible for the megalithic structures around the world, the growth and advancement of Sumer, the domestication of plants and animals, and strange flaws in human DNA.

Yoga has gone mainstream in the US. It is bigger here among lay practitioners than it is in India. The greatest yogis and yoginis may still haunt the Himalayan foothills. But the average practitioner of physical poses (asanas) now resides in the West.
Yoga is the Number One sport discussed on twitter. It is so big among college coeds and housewives that the men had to get on board en masse. Now everyone loves it. But what is "it"?
There are two yogas -- the stretch pants, sticky mats, and consumer-society fashions and something called Integral, Royal, or Eight-Limb Yoga (called Raja or Ashtanga). The eight limbs or angas are analogous to the Buddha's Noble Eightfold Path factors. They are not the same, but with the tremendous success of Buddhism in India and Central Asia, ancient Vedic practices were reformulated in more modern terms. Patanjali (author of Yoga Sutras) is credited with the formulation we now use. The factors in each list are ancient, even timeless/eternal, but how they are presented changes over the epochs and aeons.
Āsana – a posture that one can hold for a period of time, staying relaxed and steady (sthira-suka), comfortable and motionless
Prāṇāyāma – conscious regulation and exercise of breath
Pratyāhāra – mastery of sensory organs, withdrawal of the senses from external objects
Dhāraṇā – concentration, introspective focus, one-pointedness of mind
Dhyāna – successful meditation, absorption, unification of mind
Samādhi – quiet states of complete absorption withdrawn from all external distractions of the world and the physical, complete blissful awareness of one's mind and liberated abiding, superconscious states.

"Modern" is relative as Buddhism is now at least 2,600 years old, and the Vedas reach back 5,000-10,000 years to the time of the Indus Valley Civilization (IVC). Other "Buddhisms" existed even before that -- because everything, like knowledge of the Dharma, is cyclical -- with the arising of previous fully enlightened teachers who discovered and established the timeless Teaching.
Human life is billions of years old.
Just so, other non-Vedic shraman teachers have existed alongside the Vedas. This is evident in the history of Jainism, where a tirthankara or "ford finder" arises periodically. The Buddha spoke of previous lives (jatakas) as a Brahmin who memorized the Vedas, suggesting the antiquity of those sacred IVC scriptures. It is contested matter when previous buddhas lived, thousands of years ago or millions. The ancient Theravada tradition insists it was aeons ago and not any time in recent history. Life on this planet being cyclical has had modern humans and other humanoid life for millions of years, as Michael Cremo (mcremo.com) reveals in his studies of Forbidden Archeology.

It is sometimes said that all things, when reduced by fire, revert to carbon, and that when carbon is compressed it produces the most adamantine substance known to us, the diamond. Hinduism (or Vedantic Brahmanism) is like that, with Buddhism as its crowning achievement, brilliant, precious, and noble.

We'll be laughed at, like the Buddha and Jesus and shaman seers were/are laughed at. We'll be ridiculed and rejected as ridiculous. We'll never be "respectable" or famous because we refuse to fall into line and simply dutifully report the "consensus reality" about Buddhism or about our world or about why things happen (in the social and political spheres).
Even when Dr. Cremo would seem to be disagreeing with us and favoring Hinduism, we are actually on the same page. He is not a Buddhist, and yet with his research into Eastern Philosophies, mythological histories, and extreme human antiquity, we are sure he would appreciate the distinction the Buddha made between conventional and ultimate language in reaching the ultimate reality.

THE VALLEY, California - Last night the Mutual UFO Network of Los Angeles hosted scientist Michael Cremo who read and translated ancient Sanskrit texts, such as the Puranas or "Histories," explaining the nature of the universe.
Just as the Buddha asserted, there are three distinct spheres (lokas): kama, rupa, and arupa or sensual, fine-material, and immaterial. MUFON's interest is in UFOs and extraterrestrials rather than cosmology as such.
But Cremo made the link: There are three distinct kinds of UFOs (vimanas) depending on which sphere it is from. There are gross/dense machines, subtle-light vehicles, and "spiritual" craft. We can think of it in modern terms as ordinary Grey/MIC/Nazi saucers, vehicles used for dimensional travel, and mind-only (non-material) craft.

Cremo distinguishes authentic Sanskrit texts of great antiquity from later "channelled" materials like the Vimanika Shastra, which may shed light on the matter but are not writings from yogis in the Himalayas. One amazing aspect is that when Dhurva meditated in the Himalaya, beings came down in a craft to take him to their world in another sphere. Earth is a world in the Sensual Sphere, and those beings were from a fine-material world or higher).
And this is the amazing thing: As he entered the craft, his body became like theirs. He had already understood by meditation that consciousness was separate, or at least separable, from his earthly body. He was transformed upon entering the craft and recounts in the texts that the craft became transparent and he saw the planets in our solar system passing, and they passed through other higher-dimensional planets on their way to their destination.
