One more rainstorm to come for California

Live Storm Tracker (KTLA TV LA); Pfc. Sandoval, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Another storm system expected to bring rain to Southern California (KTLA Los Angeles)

Wet weather pattern persists: New storms to soak waterlogged California (AccuWeather)

Nothing can stop surfing aficionados (LA Times)
Why does rain keep coming? Now that we can manipulate the weather, modifying it with persistent aerosol trails and HAARP, the powers that be can place the rain and flooding anywhere by guiding atmospheric rivers to create downpours as desired. The damage to infrastructure and municipalities is no matter, just as it was not when the U.S. military created massive downpours in the jungles of Vietnam to inundate the jungle and flush out the Viet Kong guerrilla fighters trying to repel an imperial force there to rape, plunder, establish freedom-of-capitalism (aka "free trade") in the guise of democracy and opposing communism, just as the French had been doing for years. The ridiculously high weather anomaly preventing rain and causing a terrible drought throughout the West Coast while flooding neighboring states in the Southwest. Now the tables are turned and not enough water has been turned to too much. Enjoy the surf, and look up. Chemtrails are real and visible every time a storm is approaching and rain is "predicted." VETS DAY: US ruined, abandoned Afghanistan

DW Documentary, 11/4/23; Pfc. Sandoval, Ashley Wells, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Afghanistan: Taliban's victory, end of freedom?
(DW Documentary) DW is a German public broadcast service. August 15, 2021, marked a turning point for formerly Buddhist Afghanistan [ancient Gandhara of the Scythians/Shakyians, birthplace of the Buddha, according to Dr. Ranajit Pal], which was once an oddly cosmopolitan, progressive, Westernized country on the hippie circuit.

That was the day of the final withdrawal of Western troops who illegally invaded on the slightest pretext, milking the incidents of 9/11 as preemptive justification to commit war crimes while all the world watches and does nothing in the world court.
It’s also when the "Taliban" [which was created by the CIA and ISI, Pakistan's secret spying service, like the U.S. set up the Mujahedeen to fight the former USSR] entered Kabul [an echo of Kapil or Kapilvastu, one of the three seasonal capitals where the future-Buddha grew up].

G.W. signs "Patriot Act" to spy on US
Protest movements were crushed. Twenty years of hope and effort gone in one fell swoop. After the 9/11 staged event the United States' ensuing "war" on a tactic, its never-ending "War on Terrorism" declared by Co-Presidents Dick Cheney and George W. Bush, Afghanistan had changed.

The world's largest unexcavated Buddhist temple complex is in Mes Aynak, Afghanistan
.
Now, the Taliban are back in charge and the country has slipped back into the past. As the undisputed rulers of the country, the Taliban satisfy their thirst for revenge and behave as "victors" over the U.S. [with many new weapons left behind for them on purpose], the "greatest military power" in the world.

In the Afghan style of the "palaces" the Buddha grew up in, monasteries were built for the "Monks of the Mines," as temple sites like Mes Aynak were built near gold mines for statues.
.
Exquisite piece of Afghan-Gandhara Buddhist art
Their goals can be summed up in a few words: Restoration of the "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan" and the introduction of "genuine Sharia law."

The new Taliban leaders continue to rely on international donors. As a result, they are trying not to offend them too openly. But they are tightening the noose.

Saving Mes Aynak (B. Huffman)
The few protest movements that have started have been nipped in the bud. Reprisals are handled discreetly. Civil society, which has been abandoned by the West and no longer receives financial resources, is helpless in the face of the new circumstances.

Twenty years of hopes and efforts have been dashed. What do the Taliban want for their country? "The future is in [the Abrahamic God] Allah's hands," says the new refugee minister, Chalil Hakkani, on whom the U.S. has meanwhile placed a five-million-dollar bounty [so he can be murdered as we keep our hands clean].

Patrick de Saint-Exupéry and Pedro Brito da Fonseca toured Afghanistan in 2021 before, during, and after the arrival of the Taliban. This film documents what they saw.

Don't let the Devil know anything (Alan Watts)

Alan Watts via Cosmic Jokes. Text: Dhr. Seven, Ananda (Dharma B Meditation), Wisdom Quarterly
WARNING: This Dharma talk might rattle long held belief systems of listeners! QOTSA knows:

Don't let the Devil know anything (Alan Watts)
(Cosmic Jokes) Alan Watts talks about karma (intentional action). Escape karma and you escape the Devil. But how can we escape it? The historical Buddha laid down the path. And many are confused by it, including Watts, by confounding what the Buddha taught and what Hindus, Brahmins, and the Vedas teach about karma. It is not necessary to exhaust karma to break free of the cycle of rebirth and suffering. If it were, no one would ever be able to do it, as each act -- whether physical, verbal, or even mental -- lays down seeds that later bear fruit. It's happening all the time. In one life, one lays down enough karma for a thousand future lives or more. It's happening all the time. There's no need to do more, as the number of future lives we already face is endless. This is the problem of samsara, the endless round of birth and death. The solution is calm and mindfulness, which yields liberating insight into the true nature of things, which causes the heart/mind to let go. When one really lets go completely at this deep level, an irreversible change happens. One glimpses nirvana, the highest bliss, and one "changes lineage" from an ordinary worldling to a noble one (arya), having put a limit on how much future suffering is possible. One may yet live for a long time, but now there is a limit. It will no longer be endless and impermanent (dying from moment to moment between deaths and rebirths). Those who say we must exhaust all of our previous karma simply have not understood the historical Buddha's teachings or Dharma. And it is not what any other spiritual tradition teaches -- not Hinduism, Brahmanism, Vedanta, Jainism, Christianity, or New Age beliefs. The real way to "the end of all suffering," which is what nirvana means, is the Buddha's 37 Requisites of Enlightenment implicit in the Ennobling Eightfold Path.

Alan Watts left behind more than 25 books and an audio library of nearly 400 talks, which are still in great demand. Alan Watts's life advice will bring you to true freedom. Kyrgyzstan Buddhist temple reopens (video)

Where did Buddhism begin?
Dhr. Seven, Wisdom Quarterly
The Buddha (Gandhara Greco-Buddhist art)
Where did Silk Road Buddhism come from? Gandhara or what is now Afghanistan (the home of the Buddha and his extended family, the Indo-Sakas/Scythians known as the Shakyas) or proto-India (Bihar and Magadha, before the formation of modern "India" under Emperor Ashoka, or China, after Buddhism traveled from there and spread out from there?

Dr. Ranajit Pal (ranajitpal.com) would agree that while Buddhism began in what is now India, it co-arose in the Buddha's homeland, what we could call "Shakya Land," around the three seasonal capitals of Kapilavastu (Kabul/Kapil), Bamiyan, and Mes Aynak, all in modern Afghanistan, Central Asia.

History of Buddhism in West Turkistan
Afghanistan, after all, has the largest and some of the oldest Buddhist statues in the world, and the Buddha visited it seven years after his great awakening, returning to his people, many of whom then ordained and either followed him back East or stayed and formed large monastic communities for nuns and monks, practicing in accordance with the Doctrine the Buddha was establishing all around the Gangetic plain and foothills of the Himalayas.

Maybe this is how it went: Silk Road expansion
He was not from Nepal, not a Hindu, not a member of the formal caste system but a "warrior" and therefore labelled a kshatriya in accordance with the Brahmin priests and their Vedas ("Knowledge Books") and view of the four varnas or categories of social obligations (duty, dharma) one is necessarily born into, with the Brahmins placing themselves on top.

But the administrators, the warrior-nobles or Aryans reckoned themselves in accordance with this imposed system, in the vicinity of the remains of the once great Indus Valley Civilization. Gandhara in Indo-Pakistan (with Taxila or Takkasila as its capital) is ancient even by that time, according to Buddhist sources (Jāt. 96).
Tash Rabat: Kyrgyzstan Buddhist Monastery?
Kyrgyzstan Buddhist Monastery (The Great Patron of Buddhism | Facebook)
Fortunately, some stupas or kurgans are hollowed out early temple prototypes (Kyrgyzstan)

Maitreyas (Metteyyas) teach.
Tash Rabat is a well-preserved 15th century stone caravanserai in At Bashy District, Naryn Province, Kyrgyzstan. It is located at an altitude of 3,200 meters (10,500 feet).

Research: As early as 1888, Russian traveler Dr. Nicolay Lvovich Zeland suggested that it was originally a Nestorian or Buddhist monastery.

Research undertaken at the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s by the Institute of History of the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences [mistakenly*] concluded that Tash Rabat was originally built as a Nestorian monastery in the 10th century, although no Christian artifacts were ever found during excavations. More

*Later it was determined to be a Buddhist monastery as all inscriptions, artifacts, and references were found to be Buddhist in nature.

This was further supported by the fact that its inhabitants were Buddhist during the period of its construction (Khudyakov, Ju. (2009). Таш Рабат - Караван-сарай или замок [Tash Rabat - caravanserai or temple]. Priroda (in Russian). Russian Academy of Sciences (6): 55. Retrieved 2 May 2014).

COMMENTARY
Jesus in India (Holger Kersten)
[Its hollowed stupa and Mongolian-style compound, with yurts to weather the Central Asian snow and grassland, certainly appears more Buddhist than later Christian traditions influenced by Buddhist monasticism. It might have been both, built up for both purposes, as Russian Christian Nicolas Notovitch found at Hemis Gompa in his travels through Buddhist Tibet/India, Ladakh, where Jesus (Christ) of Nazareth had stayed and trained. See more at Jesus in India and in particular the works of Holger Kersten.]
