Heavy metal teen reflects 35 years on (video)

1986: THE GREATEST YEAR FOR HARDCORE THRASH METAL?
(Bruno Terrosa, 10/4/17) Here's a list of thrash metal albums released in 1986 that I think are the best of their kind. The hardcore genres are thrash, crossover, speed metal, and a bit of hardcore punk (because of the crossover).

After 35 years heavy metal teen reflects on life
(David Hoffman, March 13, 2021) Heavy thrash metal music is rough. Metalheads. Headbangers. Long hair. Leather outfits. Spikes and crosses around their necks. Back in 1986 when I lived in Maine and had my film company there, this was a strange and new.

And to be honest, it was interesting. So when I sent a crew up to spend the day with a local band, I did it in part because I wanted to understand this new music and these very different young guys.

They turned out to be wonderful people. Souls. Outspoken. Articulate. Passionate. Confident. I saved the old film footage (actually Betacam SP videotape).

THE BEST (TOP 10) THRASH METAL RECORDS OF 1986
(Ruthless Metal, 5/24/21) Here's RM's list of thrash metal albums from 1986, a big year for thrashers with a lot of genre-defining classics being released with a healthy underground that provided support. Gems: Slayer's Reign in Blood, Metallica's Master of Puppets, and Megadeth's Peace Sells were just three of the mega classics.

I got the chance, 35 years later, to connect with each of them again. (One has passed on). They reflect on their lives and times back then and on how they see things now.

Belfast, Maine in 1986, Paul was one of the band members, who played bass. He's bald now. This is Paul in February of 2021. Still thinking. Still articulate. Still his own man. Thank you, Paul.
