US cuts deal to save face: Assange FREE

Julian Assange is free: WikiLeaks founder's brother Gabriel Shipton on the end of decadelong legal saga
(June 25, 2024) GUEST: Gabriel Shipton, filmmaker (ithaka.movie) and Julian Assange’s half-brother.

Gay Pres. Obama vs. Chelsea Manning
UPDATE: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been freed from Belmarsh Prison in London, where he had been incarcerated for the past five years, after accepting a plea deal with U.S. prosecutors.

After a decade-plus of legal challenges, Assange will plead guilty to a single felony count of illegally obtaining and disclosing national security material for publishing classified documents detailing U.S. war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan [serving as a negative model for many other countries to do so] on WikiLeaks [in massive data releases and websites the U.S. was desperate to have Americans avoid and not dare go near for fear of surveillance and prosecution, coercing service providers into pulling their platforms from WikiLeaks].

Why did US prosecute him? To silence him with torture or ruin.

How can the System thank Obama for his service?
The Australian publisher is expected to be sentenced to time served and allowed to return home, where he reportedly will seek a pardon. Assange’s brother Gabriel Shipton describes learning of his release as “an amazing moment.” He speaks to Democracy Now! about Assange’s case and what led up to the latest developments, as well as what he expects will happen next.

(Reuters) WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is due to plead guilty on Wednesday to violating U.S. espionage law, in a deal that will end his imprisonment in Britain and allow him to return home to Australia, ending a 14-year legal odyssey.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was at a location given as London, Britain, in a video released June 25, 2024. He is presumably in a British jail at the moment.

Assange, 52, has agreed to plead guilty to a single criminal count of conspiring to obtain and disclose classified U.S. national defense documents, according to filings in the U.S. District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands.

The deal marks the end of a legal saga in which Assange spent years in a British high-security jail and in the Ecuadorean embassy in London and fought allegations of sex crimes in Sweden, while battling extradition to the U.S., where he faced [trumped up] criminal charges.

Portrayed as a villain by the U.S. government for potentially putting classified government sources at risk [by exposing them for their crimes by showing their own records to the world], he has been hailed as a hero by free press advocates for exposing wrongdoing and alleged war crimes.
On Wednesday, he is due to be sentenced to 62 months of time already served at a hearing in Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, at 9:00 am local time (2300 GMT Tuesday).

The U.S. territory in the Pacific was chosen due to Assange's opposition to travelling to the mainland U.S. and for its proximity to Australia, prosecutors said. WikiLeaks' Julian Assange set to be freed after pleading guilty to US espionage charge

CIA against lawsuit approved by judge (TJDS)

Judge approves lawsuit against CIA and Pompeo over Assange illegal surveillance

(The Jimmy Dore Show) Dec. 29, 2023: #TheJimmyDoreShow Richard Roth is the lead attorney suing the CIA and former CIA head Mike Pompeo for spying on journalists and lawyers for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange while he was living in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London.

A judge recently ruled that the lawsuit can go forward, rejecting the CIA’s contention that illegally copying data from visitors’ electronic devices was perfectly aboveboard and not secretive spying in violation of their right to privacy.

Watch Jimmy Dore’s interview with Roth about the case and the outrageous CIA overreach in the Assange case.

Julian Assange's sham WikiLeaks trial (video)

Jimmy Dore (jimmydoreshow.com); Pfc. Sandoval, Seth Auberon, Ashley Wells, Wisdom Quarterly

Reality Winner also got the Manning treatment.
Now that the U.S. government bent over backwards to extradite Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian Embassy in England with the help of the British government, Assange is being put through the same sort of torturous treatment Pfc. Bradley Chelsea Manning was forced to endure to whistleblowing. Assange is being accused of helping Edward Snowden reveal the NSA and CIA's massive spying program being inflicted on all Americans with a cell phone or Internet presence. What the kangaroo court will do to him can already be predicted. It was exactly this sort of injustice that kept Assange in the embassy for so long. Will Pamela Anderson, Kim Kardashian, Amnesty International, the ACLU, the [sold out] Intercept, Democracy Now!, or any other justice advocates be able to get him any semblance of a fair trial?

What will become of WikiLeaks' Julian Assange? He is sitting in detention awaiting a show trial and eventual torture in a U.S. prison like Pfc. Chelsea Bradley Manning and Reality Winner, just as fellow whistleblower Edward Snowden would be had he not stayed out of reach of the clutches of the long arm of the corrupt American judicial system. Jimmy Dore talks to Chris Hedges about it, both being part of the only free speech outlet in the country, Pacifica Radio (kpfk.org), Dore on Fridays and Hedges on Sundays.

Ex-Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning finally freed from jail
Free Julian Assange from US extradition
FALLS CHURCH, Virginia - A federal judge on Thursday [March 12, 2020] ordered the release of former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning, ending roughly a year of incarceration that s/he had served for refusing to testify to a [now disbanded] grand jury.

U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga ordered Manning's release from jail after prosecutors reported that the grand jury that subpoenaed her has disbanded. The Alexandria sheriff's office confirmed Thursday night that Manning had been released.

The judge [outrageously] left in place more than $256,000 in fines he imposed for her refusal to testify to the grand jury, which is investigating WikiLeaks. The fines had been accumulating at a rate of $1,000 a day.

Should I face Chelsea and Reality Winner's fate?
A hearing in the case that had been scheduled for Friday has now been canceled.

Manning had argued that she had shown through her prolonged stay at the Alexandria jail that she proved she could not be coerced into testifying and therefore should be released.

Manning's legal statement asked for privacy and said they were relieved at her release. On Wednesday, her lawyers said she had attempted suicide while at the jail.

Manning was held since May for [exercising her right in] refusing to testify before a grand jury investigating Wikileaks. She spent an additional two months in jail earlier in 2019 for refusing to testify to a separate grand jury.

She could have faced nearly six more months of jail time if the grand jury had continued its work. The civil contempt citation was designed to coerce her testimony. Federal prosecutors had maintained that Manning could easily effect her own release by complying with the grand jury subpoena. They said she had the same duty to provide testimony that all citizens face.

WikiLeaks' Assange being tortured in prison.
Under federal law, a recalcitrant witness can only be jailed for civil contempt if there is a reasonable belief that incarceration will coerce the witness into testifying. If the jail time has no coercive effect and is purely punitive, the recalcitrant witness is supposed to be released.

Manning has said she believes grand juries in general are an abuse of power and that she would rather starve to death than testify.

Judge Trenga, in originally sending Manning to jail, said there was no dishonor in testifying to grand juries, which are referenced specifically in the U.S. Constitution, and that he hoped time in jail would allow Manning to reflect on that.

Manning had previously spent seven years in a military prison for delivering a trove of classified information to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is under indictment at the Alexandria courthouse and is fighting extradition to the U.S. Manning's 35-year sentence was then commuted by then-Pres. B. Obama. More

US out to destroy Wikileaks' Julian Assange

Mediaite Staff; NBC News; April 11, 2019; Wisdom Quarterly

(NBC News) "A Dark Day For Journalism": Wikileaks Editor-in-Chief on Julian Assange arrest.

(AFP) Edward Snowden has something to say about illegal arrest.
(Mediaite.com) Bearded Julian Assange dragged out of Ecuadorian Embassy by police: Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange was dragged out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London and arrested by police, seven years after he first took refuge to avoid extradition to Sweden over an alleged sexual assault. In the dramatic scene caught on video, Assange appears bearded and disheveled as he’s dragged down the steps of the embassy and into a waiting police van. According to U.K. police, Assange was arrested for failing to surrender to the court. Scotland Yard also confirmed that Assange was arrested on behalf of an extradition request from the United States. The opportunity to take Assange into custody came after Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno said the country withdrew Assange’s asylum for repeatedly violating its terms. Wikileaks protested the decision on Twitter, declaring it a “violation of international law.” Watch via RT. More + VIDEO

Intercept: Whistlelower cover blown Reality...

Associated Press (ap.org); Pat Macpherson, Pfc. Sandoval (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Hi, my name is Reality Winner. I'm a whistle blower against soulless ginger Trump (AP).

Obama/GOP will not tolerate whistleblowing
It will be difficult for 25-year-old Reality Winner to get a fair trial if her case becomes "this big thing where we're not going to tolerate leakers [whistleblowers]," Winner's mother, Billie Winner-Davis, told The Associated Press in an interview.

"I think they're going to try to make an example out of her because of the political climate right now," Winner-Davis said.

Winner, a former Air Force linguist who now works as a U.S. government contractor, was arrested Saturday by FBI agents on charges that she made copies of a classified report containing top-secret information and mailed it to an online news organization [called The Intercept or WikiLeaks].

A judge has scheduled a hearing Thursday for Winner in U.S. District Court to determine whether to allow her to be released on bond pending trial....

I'm not a "soulless ginger orangutan" like Reality Winner says. I'm a redhead.
.
Prosecutors have not named the news outlet, but her arrest was announced Monday as the website The Intercept reported it had obtained a classified NSA (National Security Agency) report suggesting Russian hackers had attacked a U.S. voting software supplier before last year's presidential election....

The Intercept said the NSA report was dated May 5 -- the same date court records cited for the documents Winner is accused of leaking....

She posted on Facebook three months ago that climate change is a more important issue than health care "since not poisoning an entire population seems to be more in line with 'health' care, and not the disease care system that people voted for a soulless ginger orangutan to 'fix.'" More

Criminal CIA exposed by WikiLeaks: CIA hacking into our files
Associated Press,
Michael Pompeo, Susan Pompeo
Maybe we can kill whistleblowers leakers.
WikiLeaks just published thousands of secret documents Tuesday [March 7, 2017] about CIA hacking tools the US government illegally developed and deployed.

[The CIA and US government did so] to weaken the security of our data and break into [US citizen] users' computers, cell phones, and even smart TVs to wiretap anyone at will and without FISA court approval because nearly everyone is carrying a spying device built by companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Samsung.

The CIA/US government seeks to silence me.
New CIA Director Michael Pompeo testifies on Capitol Hill. WikiLeaks says the CIA's Center for Cyber Intelligence was conducting an eye-opening look at the intimate details of the agency's cyberespionage effort.

The revealed documents describe clandestine methods for bypassing or defeating antivirus tools, encryption, and other protective security features intended to keep the private information of US citizens and corporations safe from government eyes. U.S. government employees, including Trump, use many of the same products and internet services purportedly compromised by the tools. More
