VIDEO: Barack Obama, Barry Soetoro
Right-wing Republicans vilifying Democratic success
Wisdom Quarterly (COMMENTARY)
We love Obama... as a myth, not as actual leader. Where is the change and leadership we were promised? The only change is in tone, not substance.
The Bush-Cheney-Rove-Rumsfeld team is still in power through their policies; they're just not the face of it. Put forward a prettier face, and everyone will think something has changed. What has changed?
G. W. Bush should never have been allowed to pretend he was elected, to take power, or to tamper with the rights of Americans and the safety of the world. But using 9-11, he and the puppet masters (Cheney, the corporate military-industrial complex, the Pentagon, and the country's spying apparatus) did just that. They're still doing just that.
Barack Obama is a lovable charismatic speaker willing and able to do what is asked of him. And what is asked? Go along to get along and bring us along.
Our two-party system is two faces of the same coin united against any third voice. They are not their to wield power but to draw attention away from it. Those who were in power before are still in power whether they put forward and fund a black candidate, an Indonesian, a socialist, a "radical," a woman, or even themselves. "Change" -- they pitched a lie by promising us exactly what we needed without delivering it.
