US: nation at WAR on lies (video)

.
How the U.S. Concocted a Terror Threat to Justify Syria Strikes, and the Corporate Media Went Along [and even helped the lies]

New phase of Bush-Obama "perpetual war"
As the U.S. expands military-industrial complex operations in Syria, Democracy Now! looks at the "Khorasan group," the supposedly shadowy militant organization the Obama administration has invoked to help justify the expansion of its killing and air strikes.

One month ago, no one had heard of Khorasan [pronounced corazon, "heart"], but now U.S. officials say it poses an "imminent threat" to the United States itself, as if jihadists are on their way.

U.S.-led violence on ISIS causes more chaos
As airstrikes on Syria were unkdertaken, U.S. officials said Khorasan was "nearing the execution phase" of an attack on the United States or Europe, most likely an attempt to blow up a commercial plane in flight. [Wait, we take our wars there so they won't bring it here, but it's coming anyway?] More

The Khorasan Group: Anatomy of a FAKE Terror Threat to Justify Bombing Syria

Don't laugh at my glasses, I'm a media wonk
As the Obama Administration prepared to bomb Syria without congressional or U.N. authorization, it faced two problems.

The first was the difficulty of sustaining public support for a new years-long war against ISIS [ISIL, IS, Islam, Terror, a whatever one wishes to call the convenient CIA Invisible Strawman created this week to justify our imperial attacks, which would otherwise be illegal as war crimes], a group that clearly posed no imminent threat to the “homeland.”

A second was the lack of legal justification for launching a new bombing campaign with no viable claim of self-defense or U.N. approval.

The solution to both problems was found in the wholesale concoction of a brand new terror threat that was branded “The Khorasan Group.”

Repeat: "More dangerous than ISIS," "al Qaeda," "terror," boogeymen are gonna getcha!
.
After spending weeks depicting ISIS as an unprecedented threat -- too radical even for Al Qaeda! [in need of four bombing, too "savage" to be reason with with anything but murder, drones, airstrikes, and, of course, boots on the ground, which means U.S. imperial soldiers killing them person to person] -- administration officials suddenly began spoon-feeding their favorite media organizations and national security journalists tales of a secret group that was even scarier and more threatening than ISIS [because all U.S. foreign policy runs and is advanced on FEAR], one that posed a direct and immediate threat to the American Homeland.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a new terror group was created in media lore [with its echo chamber mentality, operating based on talking points distributed to it, in a sense marching in lockstep with troops on the ground overseas, doing what military PsyOps propagandists tell it to do].

The unveiling of this new group was performed in a September 13 article by the Associated Press, who cited unnamed U.S. officials to warn of this new shadowy, worse-than-ISIS terror group:

"While the Islamic State group [ISIS] is getting the most attention now, another band of extremists in Syria -- a mix of hardened jihadis from Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, and Europe -- poses a more direct and imminent threat to the United States, working with Yemeni bomb-makers to target U.S. aviation, American officials say."

"At the center is a cell known as the Khorasan group, a cadre of veteran al-Qaida fighters from Afghanistan and Pakistan who traveled to Syria to link up with the al-Qaida affiliate there, the Nusra Front." More
