Baal [6][7][8] or Baʿal [9][a] was a title with the honorific meaning "lord" or "owner" in the Northwest Semitic languages spoken in the Levant during antiquity. From its use among people, it came to be applied to gods [11]. Scholars previously associated the theonym ("name of god") with solar cults and with a variety of unrelated patron deities, but inscriptions have shown that the name Baal was particularly associated with the storm and fertility god Hadad and his local manifestations [12]. The Ugaritic god Baal (𐎁𐎓𐎍) is the protagonist of one of the lengthiest surviving epics from the ancient Near East, the Baal Cycle. Known by epithets like “rider of the clouds” and “Victorious Baal,” he [like India's Indra/Sakra and ancient Greece's Zeus] was associated with rain, lightning, wind, fertility, and kingship, and was often depicted in opposition to sea and death deities like Yammu and Mot. The Asuras (Titans) of Buddhism and Hinduism
Asuras (Sanskrit असुर) are a class of beings in Dharmic religions [1]. They are described as power-seeking beings related to the more benevolent Devas (also known as Suras) in Hinduism.
If Suras are "gods" then A-suras are "anti-gods." In Buddhism, they came to earth when Sakka (Indra), King of the Devas, through them out of his heaven (the Realm of the Thirty-Three), but as proof that Suras and Asuras very closely related, Sakka's wife is said to be an Asuran princess.
In a Buddhist context, the word Asura is translated as "titan," "demigod," and "antigod" [2]. According to Hindu texts, the Asuras are in constant fear of the Devas [3]: 2–6.
Asuras are described in Indian texts as powerful superhuman demigods with good or bad qualities. In early Vedic literature, the good Asuras are called Adityas and are led by Varuna, while the malevolent ones are called Danavas and are led by Vritra [4]: 4.
In the earliest layer of Vedic texts, Agni, Indra, and other gods (Devas) are also called Asuras, in the sense of their being "lords" of their respective domains, knowledge, and abilities.
In later Vedic and post-Vedic texts, the benevolent gods are called Devas, while malevolent Asuras compete against these Devas and are considered "enemy of the gods" [4][5].
Asuras are part of Hinduism along with Yakshas (ogres, shapeshifting nature protectors, monsters, spirits), Rakshasas (fierce man-eating ogres, ghouls, demons), Bhutas(ghosts), and many more.

WASHINGTON, DC [outside of USA, in "Columbia," and reigning over it] — Archeologists have uncovered a cluster of lost cities in the Amazon rainforest that was home to at least 10,000 farmers around 2,000 years ago.
A series of earthen mounds [like Buddhist stupas, tepes(tels), kurgans, and barrows (tumulus)] buried roads in Ecuador was first noticed more than two decades ago by archaeologist Stéphen Rostain.

But at the time, " I wasn’t sure how it all fit together,” said Rostain, one of the researchers who reported on the finding Thursday [1/11/24] in the journal Science.
Recent mapping by laser-sensor technology [LiDAR] revealed those sites to be part of a dense network of settlements and connecting roadways, tucked into the forested foothills of the Andes [most of which are in Peru], that lasted about 1,000 years.

“It was a lost valley of cities," said Rostain, who directs investigations at France’s National Center for Scientific Research. “It's incredible.”
The settlements were occupied by the Upano people between around 500 B.C. and 300 to 600 A.D. — a period roughly contemporaneous with the Roman Empire in Europe, the researchers found.
Residential and ceremonial buildings erected on more than 6,000 earthen mounds were surrounded by agricultural fields with drainage canals. The largest roads were 33 feet (10 meters) wide and stretched for 6 to 12 miles (10 to 20 kilometers).

While it’s difficult to estimate populations, the site was home to at least 10,000 inhabitants — and perhaps as many as 15,000 or 30,000 at its peak, said archaeologist Antoine Dorison, a study co-author at the same French institute. That's comparable to the estimated population of Roman-era London, then Britain’s largest city.
“This shows a very dense occupation and an extremely complicated society,” said University of Florida archeologist Michael Heckenberger, who was not involved in the study. “For the region, it’s really in a class of its own in terms of how early it is.”

The Amazon jungle is alive and conscious
José Iriarte, a University of Exeter archaeologist, said it would have required an elaborate system of organized labor to build the roads and thousands of earthen mounds.
“The Incas and Mayans built with stone, but people in Amazonia didn’t usually have stone available to build — they built with mud. It’s still an immense amount of labor,” said Iriarte, who had no role in the research.

The Amazon is often thought of as a "pristine wilderness with only small groups of people. But recent discoveries have shown us how much more complex the past really is,” he said.
Scientists have recently also found evidence of intricate rainforest societies that predated European contact elsewhere in the Amazon, including in Bolivia and in Brazil.
“There’s always been an incredible diversity of people and settlements in the Amazon, not only one way to live,” said Rostain. “We’re just learning more about them.”

Belize has become the latest country this week to pull its ambassador from Israel since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza, Palestinian civilians in the name of revenge on political party Hamas that it previously propped up and funded, citing Israel’s refusal to heed calls for a humanitarian pause in its conflict, as its invasion of Gaza enters its sixth week.

Chad also recalled its ambassador in Israel, issuing a statement condemning the “loss of numerous innocent civilians and calls for a ceasefire for a durable solution to the Palestinian issue.”
Turkey
Turkey recalled ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, according to a statement from Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier this month, calling out Israel for an “unfolding humanitarian tragedy in Gaza” after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu “no longer someone we can talk to,” though Erdogan acknowledged: “complete disconnection is not possible, especially in international diplomacy.”
Israel has exterminated more than 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza, the majority being women and children, according to the Associated Press, citing the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, while less than 1,200 Israelis have been killed, many of whom were active military, former military, and civilians complicit in crimes against Palestinians along with innocent noncombatants killed in the October 7 operation on Israel, which was used as a pretext to forcibly relocate more than a million Palestinians from their land.
Honduras
Honduras also recalled its ambassador Roberto Martinez “amid the grave humanitarian situation” in Gaza, the country’s Foreign Minister Enrique Reina said on X, formerly known as Twitter, becoming the latest Latin American country to cut diplomatic ties with Israel.
Bahrain
Bahrain’s Parliament said earlier this month the Middle Eastern country had suspended its economic ties with Israel and recalled its ambassador, while Israel’s ambassador in Bahrain was also sent back to Israel, though Israel’s Foreign Ministry claimed it had not been notified of the decision, calling relations between the two countries “stable,” multiple outlets reported.
Jordan Jordan, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East, recalled its ambassador and ordered Israel’s ambassador in Jordan not to return to the country, its Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on X, accusing Israel of “killing innocent people” and “causing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe” with “dangerous possibilities for its expansion.”
Bolivia
Bolivia also broke ties with Israel, with Bolivia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani condemning the “aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive” in Gaza, according to multiple translations.
Colombia
Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro announced late last month the country had recalled ambassador Margarita Manjarrez, with Petro also calling for a cease-fire in the conflict.
Chile
Chile also brought back its ambassador from Israel, with its Foreign Affairs Ministry issuing a statement saying it “strongly condemns” Israel’s military operations, calling it a “great concern” and arguing Israel’s operations in Gaza equate to “collective punishment.”

LA PAZ, Bolivia (Oct. 8, 2017) - A little band of guerrillas (Spanish "little warriors" not gorillas) had been on the run through rugged, mountainous terrain.
They were struggling unsuccessfully to build support among the indigenous people of rural Bolivia as a step toward a global socialist revolution.
On October 8, 1967, the army ran them down. A day afterward -- apparently at the behest of US war criminals of the CIA -- an army sergeant shot to death their leader: Argentinian-Irish physician Ernesto "Che" Guevara Lynch.
Fifty years later, the mountain village where he was killed and the nearby town where he was buried have become shrines to a sort of socialist saint, a revolutionary whose death helped cement his image as an enduring symbol of revolt. Some there even pray to him -- an outcome that likely would have outraged the iconoclastic atheist.

Thousands of activists and sympathizers from many countries poured into La Higuera and Vallegrande this week for ceremonies to commemorate Che Guevara led by the country's left wing President Evo Morales, who laid flowers at a bust of the fallen guerrilla in the village on Sunday.
In Cuba, Pres. Raul Castro -- one of Guevara's old comrades-in-arms -- oversaw a memorial ceremony at the large mausoleum constructed to hold the revolutionary's remains, though the main speaker was the man many believe may replace him, Vice Pres. Miguel Diaz-Canel.
"The colossal example of Che endures and multiplies day by day," said Diaz-Canel, who added warnings that the United States, Guevara's chief foe, had demonstrated "a marked interest in a political and economic reconquest" of Cuba.
Guevara was the very personification of the communist dream of spreading revolution [for social justice against capitalist abuse] around the world.
