'Must-Know Go-To Survival Plants' (book)

Must-Know Go-To Survival Plants of North America

American plant expert Christopher Nyerges
Local guide and prolific author Christopher Nyerges, founder of the School of Self-Reliance, and his wife Helen Nyerges have 4.0 out of 5 stars (with 1 review) with their guidebook Must-Know Go-To Survival Plants of North America.

This easy-to-read book includes a line drawing for each plant and photos that make identification easy. There is also a numerical graph that gives each plant a “score,” depending on how useful the plants are for
  • food,
  • medicine,
  • water,
  • fire,
  • shelter, and
  • other uses.
There is also a guide on how to use and store plants, showing whether a plant can be eaten raw or cooked, and whether it is best when stored dried, frozen, or pickled, or all three.

The authors include plants readers are likely to find anywhere across North America. They also include plants they use most of the time because these plants are widespread, common, easy to recognize, and good tasting.

Also available on Amazon
The book contains 29 entries, though it covers many more than 29 individual plants. For example, in the tree section, there is a discussion of elderberries, oaks, and willows. What they say about these three genera of trees is applicable to every species worldwide of elders, oaks, and willows.

There are 20 species of Sambucus (elder) worldwide, about 600 species of Quercus (oak trees) worldwide, and about 400 species of Salix (willows) worldwide. What is written about Rubus (blackberry) applies to all species, and comments about cattail apply to all 15 species worldwide.

The book talks about individual species used as food -- such as chickweed, lamb’s quarter, and purslane. Several in the section on herbaceous plants contain many individual species, such as grasses, with about 10,550 species worldwide, and onions of which there are about 500 species worldwide, and seaweeds.

Seaweeds are marine algae, divided into the three major categories: green, red, and brown for a combined total of about 10,000 species worldwide.

The book is a refreshing addition to any botanical collection whether one studies as a novice or expert.

Too much thinking? Who, me?

The brutally honest wake-up call that overthinkers can’t stop talking about
The year’s almost here. Still overthinking? Still waiting to change? Maybe it’s time to gift yourself the truth...and actually stick to it this time.

Stop overthinking. Start living. Finally take control of your mind, time, and life. You’ve read enough boring self-help to last a lifetime -- the repetitive and brain damaging kind that sounds good but changes nothing.

By now, we don’t need more motivation, we need a mirror...and a serious slap in the face.

If I could learn meditation, I could do it all.
So if anyone is tired of overthinking while worrying about what everyone thinks and drowning in endless to-do lists that never end, this book might hit like a truth bomb.

Fck Your Crap isn’t another "feel good" pep talk. It’s a brutally honest wake-up call for people who are done pretending everything’s fine.

It’s not about chasing happiness; it’s about taking control of our life, our focus, and our energy. Inside, find a practical blueprint to stop overthinking, silence self-doubt, and build unstoppable momentum.

What’s inside
  • How to stop overthinking and anxiety by rewiring the way the brain reacts to fear and pressure.
  • How to stop worrying and start living using real tools that actually work, not useless affirmations.
  • How to declutter the mind and rebuild daily habits around clarity and purpose.
  • Why "positive thinking" is a scam and what to do instead.
  • How to build a mindset so strong that we stop letting everything affect us.
  • How to finally break free from the Anxious Generation....
Every chapter hits hard, talks straight, and gives the tools to stop overthinking, stop spiraling, and start living.

Forget the gurus. Forget the hacks. This book is for people who want change that lasts.

Who(m) this book is for
Ever said:
  • "I can’t stop overthinking."
  • "I feel stuck, lost, and mentally drained."
  • "I’m tired of fake positivity and surface-level advice."
  • "I'm scared..."?
Then this is a MANUAL to read. It’s for anyone ready to throw the excuses away, face the truth, and build a life that finally makes sense.

Whether navigating anxiety, career burnout, or just trying to get life together, this book will become the slap in the face we didn’t know we needed...until now as we read it.

Why it works
Because it’s REAL. Author John Forgetson doesn’t sugarcoat, spiritualize, or oversell. He cuts through the noise and teaches how to stop self-sabotaging, one brutally honest truth at a time.

With over 200 five-star reviews across platforms, Fck Your Crap has already changed how readers think, work, and live. It’s part tough love, part therapy, and entirely life-changing.

Ready to take back control? If we’re done overthinking our potential, this book will help us stop being our own worst enemy.
  • Stop worrying.
  • Stop waiting.
  • Stop believing everything you think.
  • Try something new.
  • Try something different.
  • Try something better.
  • Forget motivation.
  • Read this instead.
  • Let’s face ourselves...and fix our crap.

Dharma Realms: Buddhist Art Across Asia

ACCOMPANYING BOOK: Realms of the Dharma: Buddhist Art Across Asia
Realms of the Dharma (LACMA book)
There's a hardcover book, released July 1, 2025, by Editors Tushara Bindu Gude and Stephen Little and a foreword by Michael Govan. It has 5 out of 5 stars with one (1) rating.

It is a remarkable selection of pan-Asian Buddhist art, showcasing the history and diversity of Buddhist schools with examples across sculptures, textiles, reliquaries, manuscripts, and more.
Buddhist Tibet (LACMA)
Published with LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), this gloriously illustrated celebration of Buddhist art addresses the development of Buddhism and its visual language over a period of nearly 2,000 years, as the Teaching (Dharma) traveled across Asia and was embraced by diverse cultures.

Realms of the Dharma brings together more than 200 works of Buddhist art from India, mainland and island Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, Central Asia, and East Asia.

Buddhist Japan (LACMA)
The book is divided into seven chapters, beginning with an introduction to Buddhism and Buddhist art, followed by chapters on South Asia, Southeast Asia, Nepal and Tibet, China, Korea, and Japan.

The artworks, all from the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), offer a broad perspective on the birth of Buddhism in South Asia and its spread throughout the Asian continent over centuries.

The Buddha's tooth relic (srarira) in China
The artworks include a stunning and diverse range of Buddhas, stupas and reliquaries, religious manuscripts, paintings, and sculptures depicting various Buddhist deities, portraits of Buddhist masters, and other ritual objects.

The remarkably successful expansion of Buddhism was in part due to the ability of its principles to be adapted to and assimilated within a range of preexisting belief systems [usually some form of shamanism, animism, or some form of spirit appeasement].

Gorgeously illustrated with over 250 color reproductions of these exemplary artworks and religious objects, this book celebrates that achievement. More

Travel to N. Tibet: Road to Heaven

China's invasion took lots more land than Lhasa

Greater Tibet [7] is a region in the western part of East Asia, covering much of the Tibetan Plateau and spanning about 470,000 square miles (1,200,000 km2) [8].

It is the homeland of the largely Vajrayana Buddhist/Bon Tibetan people.

Also resident on the plateau are other ethnic groups such as Mongols, Monpa, Tamang, Qiang, Sherpa, Lhoba, and since the 20th century the invading Mahayana Buddhist Han Chinese (that account for more than a billion uncounted Buddhists in the world due to official communist atheism) and Muslim Hui [9].

Tibet is the highest region on Earth, with an average elevation of 14,000 feet (4,380 m) [10, 11].

Located in the Himalayas, the highest elevation in Tibet is Mount Everest (part of which is in neighboring Nepal), Earth's highest mountain (though not the tallest), rising 29,000 feet (8,848 m) above sea level [12]. More

Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism
Why do monastic robes differ in color?
Tibetan Buddhism [a] is the form of Buddhism practiced in Tibet, Bhutan, and Mongolia. It also has a sizable number of adherents in the areas surrounding the Himalayas, including the Indian regions of Ladakh, Darjeeling, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, as well as in Nepal.

Smaller groups of practitioners can be found in Central Asia, some regions of China such as Northeast China, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and some regions of Russia, such as Tuva, Buryatia, and Kalmykia.

Tibetan Buddhism evolved as a form of Mahāyāna Buddhism, stemming from the latest stages of Indian Buddhism (which included many Vajrayāna elements). It thus preserves many Indian Buddhist tantric practices of the post-Gupta early medieval period (500–1200 CE), along with numerous native Tibetan developments [1, 2].

Do I regret my CIA involvement as Pope-King?
In the pre-modern era, Tibetan Buddhism spread outside of Tibet primarily due to the influence of the Mongol Yuan dynasty (1271–1368), founded by Kublai Khan, who ruled China, Mongolia, and parts of Siberia.

In the Modern era, Tibetan Buddhism has spread outside of Asia because of the efforts of the Tibetan diaspora (post-Chinese invasion, 1959 onwards). As the Dalai Lama escaped to India (Dharamshala), the Indian subcontinent is also known for its renaissance of Tibetan Buddhism monasteries, including the rebuilding of the three major monasteries of the Gelug tradition.

Apart from classical Mahāyāna Buddhist practices like the Ten Perfections, Tibetan Buddhism also includes tantric practices, such as deity yoga and the Six Dharmas of Naropa, as well as methods that are seen as transcending tantra, like Dzogchen. Its main goal is Buddhahood [3, 4].

The primary language of scriptural study in this tradition is classical Tibetan. Tibetan Buddhism has four major schools, namely... More

Chinese Buddhism
Han Buddhism
(漢傳佛教, 汉传佛教, Hànchuán Fójiào, Hàn-thoân Hu̍t-kàu) is the Chinese form of Mahayana Buddhism. The Chinese Buddhist canon [1] draws from the traditions of Confucianism and Taoism as well as the rituals of local folk religions. Chinese Buddhism emphasizes the study of Mahayana sutras and treatises, such as the Lotus Sutra, Flower Ornament Sutra, Vimalakirtī Sutra, Nirvana Sutra, and Amitābha Sutra [2, 3]. Chinese Buddhism is the largest institutionalized religion in mainland China [4]. More

Kundalini Syndrome: Third Eye or Schizo?

The Third Eye, Schizophrenia, and Kundalini Syndrome: I wasn’t ready for that level of manifestation
The third eye is the sixth chakra
(Eye Opening) In this video, I share my personal experience of a spiritual emergency, a spiritual crisis, kundalini syndrome, or psychic trauma (however one wishes to label it) that happened not too long after I had a life-changing experience of my third eye suddenly opening.
  • The seven main chakras along the spine are nexus points associated with different areas of life, the lower three being rooted to the earth in the body, the heart being the centered transitional point, and the upper three "spiritual" spinning energy wheels, which is the literal meaning of chakra. The lowest is survival (lum), the next is sexual (vum), the third is digestion and assimilation (rum); the fourth is the heart (yum), a green-hued area vibrating frequency; the fifth is the throat (hum) about expression and speaking our truth; the sixth is the most famous, the third eye (aum or om) between the brows; the seventh is silent at the crown of the head, full release.
I ended up hospitalized for a week, heavily medicated, and diagnosed with "schizophrenia" and "bipolar disorder" ["mania"]. I am neither of those.

Western medicine doesn't know how else to label what was happening to me. I was simply having a spiritual awakening and did not have any guidance, so I slipped into fear.

The intention of this video is to give some advice so that others do not have to go through what I did.

Bashur, what did Jess and Sid know?

When is He coming? I've been waiting a long time, and He seems late. It's like "Waiting for Godot" down here, Bashur. What could possibly be holding Him up?

  • It is unclear who or why certain Bashur material was pulled off YouTube. We did not pull it. Until it returns, there is more. Above are two replacement videos until more psychic material about Jesus (Jess) and the Buddha (Sid) surfaces.

Channel Darryl Anka puts on a show, or is a spirit entity/counsel/collective calling itself "Bashar" running through a channel named Darryl? Possessing, stepping into, entering, it must be that the energies and personality traits of one mix with the other. Or why would Bashar have such a funny way of saying "HI!" like an ET imperfectly with human ways? None of that matters. What does matter is what he's saying. Is it true, is it useful, is it of benefit to humanity? If nothing else, it sure is a lot like the kind of stuff Abraham and Seth and these disembodied teachers (probably a lot of them from biblical and Sumerian, Akkadian, Persian times, too). At least Bashar has a sense of humor and while sounding jerky is not actually a jerk.

Dead Man's Guide to Afterlife: Bardo Thodol

(The Mystery Library) Could a 1,300-year-old Vajrayana Buddhist manuscript from Ladakh (once Tibet, now India) hold the secret to reincarnation (rebirth), the afterlife, and the nature of consciousness?

Let's travel through the Bardo, the intermediate state between lives where consciousness goes after the death of the body, and where it seeks the path to the light or ends up reincarnating.

The Bardo Thodol, or "The Tibetan Book of the Dead," offers great insights into how the ancients viewed consciousness.

Still in use today to guide the deceased through their voyage into the afterlife in remote parts of Tibet and India, notably in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, the teachings in The Bardo Thodol resonate with recent discoveries in the field of quantum physics.
It may be the ultimate piece of the puzzle to the mystery that is consciousness. (Matter, it seems, is derivative, and consciousness is primary, says theoretical physicist and Nobel Laureate Max Planck, and the Buddhist Abhidharma or "Dharma [Explained] in Ultimate Terms" would seem to agree).

How to pick a fun new gender in 3 steps

I was born a boy assigned my sex and gender at birth. Then I said, "O hell no!" I'm trans!

.
The Rainbow looks so cute as bottom to the S&S!
Happy gay month, everyone! It's time for PRIDE, which now celebrates every permutation of sexuality and gender fluidity. Want to be poly-bi-platinum-goldstar-xe? That's sensational, xe! Whaddya got rockin' under those skorts? None of our business? Right on! Now, hope you come to the meeting to explain it to Gen. Florg, and fly that freak flag like it's an original idea. Now we can all be Anais Nin and call ourselves "free."

Space alien confused as Earth leaders try to explain human gender
Thank you, God (Gnostic "Demiurge"), for giving us MEN and all these little BOYS, too!
Let me give you a little backrub here, Pope, and you try to hold down your excited pointer.
.
Trans (Helen Joyce)
(The Babylon Bee) General Florg from the planet Graxon V has visited Earth -- but he's having trouble understanding humans as he's never encountered a species with so many multiplying genders. Earth leaders try to explain.

(Of course, the real problem is that humans and leaders don't understand either. When no one agrees, anyone can say anything, and we all HAVE TO go along or we're some kind of sexist heteronormative secretly-gay pigs!)

How to choose a fun gender: 3 Steps

The Babylon Bee Guide to Gender
First, get the book, The Babylon Bee Guide to Gender. Second, pick a wording and pronoun from the 437 currently available, one that suits you. Don't skimp. The world is your oyster, and grammar doesn't matter at all. Definitions are included or write a new one.

Third, for general guidance, you may want to see which makes your dad the most upset. No dad? No problem. Ask a coach, uncle, drill instructor, sergeant, or scout leader. On second thought, avoid scout leaders.

Lost in Trans Nation (Grossman)
Viola! You now have a FUN gender you're happy with (and can change at any time whatsoever even post-surgery) to foist on everyone else who you can legally coerce to recognize and call you.

Now to pick a more fun SEX... Have you considered the U.S. military and the experimental vaccinations and environmental chemicals they will force you to endure and be exposed to even in bootcamp? It's a gay old time now, with lots of "friendly fire" from superior officers and horny bunkmates, fellas!

"Don't ask, don't tell"? - Ask! Tell! Let your freak flag fly, Fella!
