I'm not autistic, the world is! (video)

Neurodivergent Doctor, 3/8/22, 9/14/21; Sheldon S.CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

"Autism Imposter Syndrome" - The smartest have it, and how to stop it
(Neurodivergent Doctor) Why do the smartest people get imposter syndrome? What is "transient sensory sensitivity"? Was there really room for Leo on Rose's floating door over the Atlantic from the film Titanic? These and other topics are discussed as well as what to do about imposter syndrome.

Autism: The new view. The world is disordered
(Neurodivergent Doctor) VANCOUVER Hello, Neurodivergent Nation! It's always been about the bad, the way "autistic" people have a hard time in life. Is that the truth, or have we been looking at it all wrong?

Yes, many autistic people have a very difficult time. And it has caused trauma and so much heartache for them and often their families, too. But let's take a closer look at why there is so much difficulty.

Let's look more closely at the disordered world autistic people are forced to live in. Like so many other people who are differently abled on this planet, it is not set up to accommodate, accept, or even acknowledge differences.
  • [EDITORIAL NOTE: It may be taken as making autism look like a positive label. Or it may point the finger at us, saying that although autism is certainly bad and not something we would want to have, the world we live in sucks -- and we have ceased to notice. But autistic children and young adults do notice and say so; therefore, we don't like them and blame them and their illness or try, because of cognitive dissonance and guilt at living in a toxic polluted environment that surely cannot be helping, to put all the blame on sensitive individuals harmed by the toxicity far more than the rest of us.]
This video challenges the idea that the neurodivergent are the disordered ones. All media is original content or licensed and used with permission. Copyright 2021 Dr. Anson Service, PsyD.

COMMENTS
(from previous upload on Imposter Syndrome that was deleted it replaced with this better version)

(buttercxp draws) This video was fantastic. I was late diagnosed 2 years ago after a mental breakdown. I’ve felt imposter syndrome several times whilst coming to terms with my diagnosis. Your words really hit home with me. Much appreciated 💕

(Judi Marr) Thank you for this. I’ll probably still keep taking all the tests every couple of weeks until my neuropsych testing in June just to make sure, but it’s good to know why I feel this way and I’m not alone.

(Wynne Whitten-Holmes) Oh, this was such a balm to my autistic soul. Thank you. I'm saving it for later. ✨

(buttercxp draws) Great job with the script and editing on this one. Made me laugh and made me cry. I’ll be watching this again next time I think I’m an imposter ✌️💕

(rahxrahster) This is the one! I have an upcoming assessment and this video was so helpful. Thank you!

(Loowe) Thank u so much. Can I ask u to talk about the PDA Type of autism? It really gives me more imposter Syndrome since my experience is in some way very different than other more high-regulating autistic people. Thank u for ur work so much!!! 🌸🌸🌸

(skiz) The best defense against impostor syndrome is paying the electricity bill to keep your rare model train collection running on time throughout your house.

"Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" on TV (BBC)

BBC via Chi-Town TV Fan, 12/30/15; Sheldon S., Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! (TV)
If only there were a way to keep up with all the important news of the week in just one hour and laugh while making sure nothing was missed.
"From NPR and WBEZ Chicago this is Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!: the NPR news quiz." This is Part 1 of NPR's most popular radio game show from WBEZ Chicago, which has been on the air since 1998.

This video is a broadcast pilot for a proposed television version from 2011. It came as a result of a joint venture between NPR and PBS with the BBC for a possible TV adaptation.

It proposed a TV format for both US and UK versions. As it turns out the idea didn't pan out. No one wants to see radio faces on the air.

So there was no more talk about the TV version either in the US or in the UK. But it is rumored that this episode aired on Chicago's PBS affiliates. This show definitely aired on local Chicago radio, broadcast, and cable TV, as well as nationwide on US and UK radio and cable TV channels on December 23, 2011.

How smart are you? (quiz)

Quiz (offbeat.topix.com); Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Wisdom Quarterly
Why are things free on the Internet? When it's free, YOU'RE the commodity. Email, LinkedIn/hiQ, porn, Facebook, SnapChat, Twitter, YouTube, social media -- it's all about mining information about you for data analytic firms. You put it on the Net for a tiny segment of the public to see, but a bot mines the data and sells it to corporations and the NSA, NSE, NSC, FBI, CIA, DHS, IRS, and the whole alphabet. It's a great business model and a dismal invasion of privacy that co-opts you to provide it.

"Rising Up with Sonali" (radio show)

Sonali Kolhatkar (KPFA), Seth Auberon, Crystal Quintero, Pat Macpherson, Wisdom Quarterly

Today, as the New Year begins (on Earth, which still tell us that spring is the measure of the renewing year), radio host Sonali starts her new show on Pacifica -- "Rising Up with Sonali"!

She followed the radical Lila Garrett Mondays at 7:00 am) on KPFK in Los Angeles with inaugural guest like Green 2016 presidential candidate Jill Stein.

The show follows on the heels of her in-depth interview format show Uprising!, which has become a collective of female voices on KPFK FM. Sonali's show still runs daily on KPFA, Berkeley.

"Rising Up with Sonali" has a youtube.com channel for video and is in the vein of Letters and Politics with Mitch Jeserich and the classic DemocracyNow! with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez -- a daily, unimbedded and in-depth war and peace report.

The end of an era…and a new beginning: March 19 was the final day of Uprising with Sonali. After debuting in August 2003, it became the longest-running drive-time program in So. California hosted by a woman. A brand new show, Rising Up With Sonali, takes it place.

You're too "clingy" (cartoon)

Dhr. Seven, Crystal Quintero, Amber Larson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly; Ven. Nyanatiloka
I don't know what I'm doing wrong in relationship after relationship, searching for...

(Family Guy/Hulu) As clingy as a baby at the bosom is Stewie as Brian tries to cling to Drew

Starts off fun, gets to be too much.
Crystal, is clinging a problem in life? It is in Ashley's life; she has been known to get quite clingy. Ask her. But you? Not me so much, but guys I've dated. What do they do? You know how Brian once went on that reality dating show as a contestant then became infatuated with the bachelorette? Yes, exactly, I get it. He would leave all these phone messages and not get the hint to naff off.

Brian the clingy bachelor (Family Guy)
"Clinging" (upādāna), according to the Path of Purification (Vis.M. XVII), is a pathetic and intensified degree of craving. The opposite is the "extinction of craving," which is identical with the "extinction of defilements" (āsavakkhaya), which is the attainment of full enlightenment or arhatship. (See noble persons).

There are four kinds of clinging that prevent enlightenment:
  1. sensual clinging (kāma-upādāna),
  2. clinging to views (ditthi-upādāna),
  3. clinging to mere rules and rituals (sīlabbata-upādāna),
  4. clinging to personality-belief (atta-vāda-upādāna).
(1) "What now is sensual clinging? Whatever with regard to sense objects there exists of sensual lust, sensual craving, sensual attachment, sensual passion, sensual delusion, sensual fetters (bonds of desire): this is called 'sensual clinging.'

Owner of a lonely heart? Try clinging to sensuality. It will disappoint, but what else are you going to do to overcome the empty feeling in your core and the body's cravings? Invest?

(2) ''What is the clinging to views? 'Alms and offerings are useless; there is no fruit or result for good and bad deeds: all such views and wrong opinions are called the clinging to views.

(3) "What is the clinging to mere rules and rituals? The holding firmly to the view that through mere rules (vows, precepts, discipline) and rituals (observances) one may reach enlightenment: this is called the clinging to mere rules and rituals.
  • [NOTE: the way to enlightenment and nirvana is liberating-insight, made possible by the Noble Eightfold Path, not mere observance of ceremonies, celebrations, superstitions, magic, abstinences, or austerities, which may aid one along the way but cannot possibly in and of themselves bring about enlightenment.]
(4) "What is the clinging to personality-belief? The 20 kinds of ego-views with regard to the aggregates of existence (see sakkāya-ditthi): these are called the clinging to personality-belief" (Dhs.1214-17).

Not going to get all clingy, are you? - I'm not even going to call you tomorrow. - Good.
.
Heart Sutra: immaculate heart free of clinging
This traditional fourfold division of clinging is unsatisfactory. Besides sensual (kama) clinging we would expect either clinging to form or materiality (rūpa) and clinging to formlessness or immateriality (arūpa), or simply clinging to continued existence (continued becoming, bhava-upādāna).

Although the non-returner, the third of the four stages of enlightenment, is entirely free from the traditional four kinds of clinging, that person is not yet free of rebirth, as one still possesses clinging to continued becoming, the deep desire for rebirth on other planes even though one grasps that they are illusory, marked by Three Characteristics of Existence, namely, that they are impersonal, impermanent, and never able to satisfy one's desires.

The Commentary to the Path of Purification (Vis.M. XVII), in trying to get out of this dilemma, explains "sense clinging" as including here all of the remaining kinds of clinging.

"Clinging" is the common rendering for the Pali/Sanskrit term upādāna, but "grasping" would come closer to the literal meaning of it, which is "uptake" after craving it. See the Three Cardinal Discourses (Wheel No. 17), p.19.

"Family Guy" the Very First Episode
(Workard) Life in modern suburban USA as brought to us by Seth Macfarlane and the many writers of and contributors to "Family Guy." This is the pilot or unofficial first episode, the prequel. The "official" first episode was a remake of it.

I'm in love! (love addiction)

Danger, drama: Lana Del Rey wants the whole world to love her (New York Times)

Evolution of the parasite: Tapeworm, Flea, Leech, Vampire Bat, Banker...Love Addict
How To Break the Pattern of Love Addiction
Reinvent Yourself: future focus
Part 2. Might as well face it if you're "addicted" to love. Love does not cure all, not even close.

Rachel Uchitel, an alleged Tiger Woods' mistress, spoke openly about her addiction to love because of her participation in Dr. Drew Pinksy's "Celebrity Rehab." For many people this may be the first time they ever heard about love addiction, so here's a popular post about the topic from last year:

First things first. Take this brief quiz to see if you are likely a "love addict."
When is love an addiction?
1. Did you once think that if only someone loved you in that "special way" you would be happy for the rest of your life?
2. Were you/Are you pre-occupied with the notions of love as expressed in music, movies and fiction?
3. Have you ever tried to talk yourself into loving someone you weren't particularly fond of because you needed the love NOW?
4. Have you felt the need to prop up or do a total makeover on your partner early on in your relationship rather than admit that he/she wasn't right for you and end it?
5. Have you stayed in a bad relationship or repeatedly returned to an ex-partner because you couldn't stand to be alone?
6. When you are in a committed relationship do you wonder if you chose the RIGHT one or fantasize about a lover from your past, thinking you should have kept him or her and then you would be happier?
7. Have you used the words "soul mate" in reference to how love should be? ...

Not crazy in love, getting paid
No need to score or rate yourself. If you suspect you are a love addict -- don't feel too badly about it. I was a member of the love addicts club for a good portion of my life as well. I too was in love with love.

I have built my career on this issue, working with ordinary people who are lost when it comes to finding and sustaining a healthy relationship, stuck in a cycle of pain and disappointment in others and themselves.

They believe that either they just can't find the right one or that the early infatuation waned and they are no longer "in love." Some jump from one relationship to another in search of that wonderful feeling they once had.

Others stay, despite feeling dissatisfied, harboring secret thoughts of leaving, cultivating emotional affairs, or cheating from time to time, having no clue about the real problem.

To be clear, addiction can be defined in a general way as a compulsive (repeated action without choice) and chronic (ongoing over time) pattern of using a substance or behavior for soothing, comforting, and/or arousal. It is used as a means of medicating uncomfortable feelings. "Addicts" typically continue use of their behavior or drug of choice despite negative consequences.

Sex addiction is a compulsive pattern of pursuing sexual arousal independent of emotional attachments. [While this seems common and promoted among American males, it gets so out of control -- for example with online porn addiction -- as to be devastating; attend an SAA meeting and find out how bad if you doubt that such a condition can even exist.]

Love addiction [more common and promoted among American females, so much so that we may consider it "typical" gendered behavior] is a little harder to define simply because by nature we are all "addicted" to love -- meaning we want it, seek it, and have a hard time not thinking about it. More

QUIZ: Brain Hemisphere Balance

Intelliscript.net via ,TheSmartShow.org; Wisdom Quarterly
Right Brain/ Left Brain Quiz
The higher the number below the more dominant the hemisphere.
Recognizing a right brain or left brain tendency helps one to cope.
Left Brain Dominance: 8(8)
Right Brain Dominance: 8(8)
Right Brain/ Left Brain

Which hemisphere is dominant? Take a look at the characteristics chart below to determine if the space separating the ears is left dominant, right dominant, or balanced. Then take the QUIZ to confirm. Dominance to one side seems to indicate an easier time "meditating" or allowing stillness and cultivating mindfulness and insight once seated. Dominance  to the other side suggests more sitting but less bliss, allowing, and realizing our innate potential to gain knowledge-and-vision of things as they really are without our biased interpretations.

Right and Left Brain Characteristics
Hemispheric Styles
Rational
  • Responds to verbal instructions
  • Problem solves by logically and sequentially looking at the parts of things
  • Looks at differences
  • Is planned and structured
  • Prefers established, certain information
  • Prefers talking and writing
  • Prefers multiple choice tests
  • Controls feelings
  • Prefers ranked authority structures
Intuitive
  • Responds to demonstrated instructions
  • Problem solves with hunches, looking for patterns and configurations
  • Looks at similarities
  • Is fluid and spontaneous
  • Prefers elusive, uncertain information
  • Prefers drawing and manipulating objects
  • Prefers open ended questions
  • Free with feelings
  • Prefers collegial authority structures... More

How to see your Aura (instructions)

Pam Oslie, George Noory (Coast to Coast, March 5, 2012); edited by Wisdom Quarterly
Our gross bodies may actually be made of condensed light. In any case, it is energetic and emanating frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum (Centraxis.blogspot.com).

Author and consultant Pam Oslie has an ability to read and interpret auras. This has yielded evidence for parallel universes, and how we can navigate them. But how can I become aware of my own aura?

Oslie has two techniques, one visual and one practical. The visual is described below, but the practical is a quiz one can take right away.

People have different color auras, seen as a radiant field or as bands stretching out for a fathom (about six feet) around them. The bands closest to the body are called "life colors." They stay the same, according to Oslie, while the outer bands change in color and reflect passing emotions.

The Buddha's Aura
There is an internationally recognized "Buddhist flag." It is composed of the colors of his aura. Designed to celebrate the renaissance of Buddhism on the ancient Indian island of Sri Lanka in 1880, it is made up of the six colors of Buddha’s aura after enlightenment:

  1. BLUE (nila) symbolizes universal compassion
  2. YELLOW (pita) represents the Middle Path
  3. RED (lohitha) signifies the five blessings of the practice of Buddhism: achievement, wisdom, virtue, fortune, and dignity.
  4. WHITE (odata) for purity which leads to the liberation of time and space
  5. ORANGE (manjesta) for the wisdom of the Buddha’s teaching; Burma uses GREEN.
  6. BLENDED (pabbhassara, rainbow combination): the last stripe is a blend of all the colors, which for simplicity of design is represented as a multicolored stripe, just as light is made up of all colors of the rainbow, the prabashvara is effectively the "essence of light" (42).

Seeing is believing
To get started seeing auras, put someone in front of a white background, "and then just kind of look past them with soft eyes, and the first thing you'll probably see is this white glow around their head."

The specific colors of the life auras such as violet, tan, green, and yellow, are associated with different personality types. For instance, violets are visionaries and dreamers; reds are powerful, volatile, and strong-tempered; yellows are youthful and enjoy fun; greens are willful and tend to be workaholics; and lavenders are sweet, sensitive, and child-like, Oslie has found.

The Aura Quiz on her website helps one determine their true colors. Why does it matter? Based on individual auras, people will either tend to be compatible with other specific aura color personalities or not, Oslie explains, and to that end she has developed the LoveColors online dating site.

  • HOW TO: Natural Ability: We all came into this lifetime with the ability to see auras. Infants and animals still see auras... A dog will growl and bark at one person, yet befriend and wag his tail at another. A baby will often smile and reach out to one person, but cry and pull back from another....We have all felt drawn to certain people. We feel comfortable and attracted to their energy or presence. We have also felt repelled, uneasy, or uncomfortable... Different Methods: People often learn to see or sense the aura...using the method that comes natural...
    1. Feeling the Aura: Some people first sense the aura through their physical bodies. Some are able to feel the heat from a person's aura through their hands.
      1. Exercise: You may experiment with this method by holding the palms of your hands approximately three feet from a person's body and slowly moving in toward the body until you feel the sensation...
    2. Seeing the Aura:
      1. White Glow: When you first start seeing the aura, you may see a white glow around a person's head. The aura is typically the brightest and strongest around the head.
      2. Colors: It may take a while before you begin seeing the different colors in the aura. Different people often see the colors differently -- just as we each taste food differently. Read all the details

Other Dimensions
Time does not really exist. It is merely a constraint we use in this reality. Along those lines, Oslie reveals, different parallel universes co-exist with ours. She is able to intentionally travel to or communicate with people in those other realms.

As quantum physics theorizes, we can be in multiple places at the same time, and Oslie believes we seamlessly shift in and out of different universes and timelines (by the choices we make), without even consciously realizing it.

Change Thinking, Change Environment

We live on a finite planet. Sometimes our impact on it is greater than we realize. The choices we make every day — from our morning beverage to our business practices — are links in a chain of awesome connections we rarely imagine. But the bottom line is, our health is directly connected to the health of business and the health of the natural world. All three wither or grow and flourish together.
