Looking only for vegan tamales? The LAist has got you covered. You can make your own. This is the season for them. If you want to avoid the easy but exhausting process of making them yourself, and if you can't get a hold of the Latin lady your mom calls every year, don't worry. Los Angeles has a wealth of tamalerias, "tamale factories," from serviceable (so let's skip those) to sublime. Here are just a few. PRO TIP: Go vegan. Start planning ASAP. Most tamalerias cut off their bulk X-mas orders sometime between Dec. 20-22 and sometimes much earlier. Whole Foods has them. More
