Asian Mid-Autumn Festival 2026

China's Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 🏮 Giant Lanterns, Lion Dance, and Spectacular Full Moon Festivities 🔥

Thirteen months of moonshine every year (WQ)
Peaceful Countryside(Peaceful Countryside) Experience the magic of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2026, where giant lanterns, lion dance performances, traditional music, mooncakes, and glowing night celebrations come together under the full moon.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in Chinese culture, associated with family reunion, moon viewing, lanterns, mooncakes, and wishes for happiness and togetherness.

This special presentation captures the beauty and excitement of a festive night filled with color, tradition, and cultural energy.
The Mid-Autumn Festival

Chang'e flies to Moon (Gutenberg)
Also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, this grand celebration is an ancient harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture (throughout the Sinosphere).

It occurs on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar, which can fall between Sept. 7th and Oct. 8th (inclusive) of the West's Gregorian calendar [1, 2]. On this day, the Chinese believe the Moon is at its fullest and brightest, coinciding with the time of harvest in the middle of autumn [3].

Moon Goddess Chang'e
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important holidays and celebrations in Chinese culture. The history of the festival dates back now over 3,000 years [4, 5]. Similar festivals are celebrated by other cultures in East and Theravada Buddhist Southeast Asia.

During the festival, lanterns of all sizes and shapes – symbolizing beacons that light the path toward prosperity and good fortune for the people – are carried, displayed, and set aloft.

Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean or lotus-seed paste, are eaten during this time of celebration [6, 7, 8].

The Mid-Autumn Festival is based on the legend of the Moon Goddess Chang'e (and her trusty Moon Rabbit) in Chinese mythology [9].

It is an official holiday in both mainland China [10] and the island-nation of Taiwan [11]. The day after the Mid-Autumn Festival is an official holiday in both Hong Kong [12] and Macau [13]. More

Happy National Muffin Day (2/20)

Think of something more universally loved than muffins? Can't be done (except maybe chocolate chip cookies). The beloved muffin deserves a day of its own, and for that we have February 20th. It’s National Muffin Day! "English muffins," with the prominent nooks and crannies from the sourdough, have been whipped up in kitchens as far back as 1,000 years ago in Wales, and American style muffins have been around since the 18th century. Muffins are a bad breakfast on the run, a better substitute for toast during brunch, and an easy sugar treat to make and give as a gift to people we don't like. Sugar is bad. How is any American going to celebrate National Muffin Day? Eating a face full of muffins probably, but there are ways of making this gluten-toxic treat good and good tasting. Here are a few ideas for toasting this usually bad when spectacular-when-baked good. Make it vegan, gluten-free, add blueberries and nuts, and serve it with a side of raw hemp milk or almond. nationaltoday.com

It's Pie Day, Friday (3.14)

What is pie? Who better to ask than a poetess? She is sure to have a numerological opinion she can beautifully articulate. Some may think it's a pizza, but this is not New York or Vicenza, Veneto, Italy with its famous piazzas. Surely the greatest of pies is the blueberry, healthful and delicious.

But, wordsmith, what would that have to do with today of all days?

Well, it may be arbitrary, like most National Days, although my robotic phone seems to indicate that pie has more to do with Pi (3.14159) or Greek π, than the baked variety. Maybe in 1959, no, that doesn't make sense. Let me ask my egghead friendboy; he knows about stuff like this due to his Star Wars obsession and penchant for boring things.... Ah, pi seems to be a reference to math. How boring! I'd rather snack and sip tea, or even pizza or placing a puff of whipped cream in someone's face would be more fun.

Well, that was a wash. Might you produce a poem in honor of pi/pie?

Ode to the Baked
My friendboy likes his films
My friendboy likes his pi
If only he could see
That it's right between my
Did I mean to say peeps?
     Did he hope digits point
at pants -- like he does when
I show him my flower
     No, it's not a violet
No, it's not a red rose
But it is quite scarlet
And well known to his nose

COMMENTARY: Eyes, thighs? Rose, nose? You mean this is a sexually tinged iambic tetrameter terse but trite toss off? - No comment. Poetry is poetry, not math.

Young Sheldon was a jerk (The Big Bang Theory) - Oh my, everyone's eating sweet cherry pie
Pi Day Friday
It's spelled Scarlett, Mr. Jost!
March 14 is commonly referred to as Pi Day, a day that aims to celebrate the ratio of the circumference of a circle [Eggheadspeak for a way of measuring the space inside a wheel.]. The number is known as 3.14 or π and can actually go on forever [or be stopped if we change to Base 3 or something other than Base 10, but numbers are all Greek, so who knows?]

The most accurate value for Pi, according to Guinness World Records, is more than 62 trillion digits (62,831,853,071,796 to be precise) [because some computer somewhere says so, as if 63 trillion wouldn't be even more precise], calculated in August 2021 by the University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland.

While the day is popular in math circles [among Eggs staring at Star Wars fan fiction], it is also a day for those looking to score great deals on actual pie, pizza pie, and other circular treats. More (like a second gluten-free vegan pizza at Blaze for only $3.24 + tax)

Who cares about pi?
Diagram of circle's diameter and perimeter
Because it relates to a circle, π is found in many formulae in trigonometry and geometry, especially those concerning circles, ellipses and spheres.

It is also found in formulae from other topics in science, such as cosmology, fractals, thermodynamics, mechanics, and electromagnetism. It also appears in areas having little to do with [sacred] geometry, such as number theory and statistics, and in modern mathematical analysis can be defined without any reference to geometry.

The ubiquity of π makes it one of the most widely known mathematical constants inside and outside of science. Several books devoted to π have been published, and record-setting calculations of the digits of π often result in news headlines. What is it?

Definition
Hey, I got you a bookworm cup, Babe.
The circumference (perimeter) of a circle is slightly more than three times as long as its diameter. The exact ratio is called π. This pi (π) is commonly defined as the ratio of a circle's circumference C to its diameter d: π = C/d. The ratio C/d is "constant," regardless of the circle's size.

For example, if a circle has twice the diameter of another circle, it will also have twice the circumference, preserving the ratio C/d.

This definition of π implicitly makes use of flat (Euclidean) geometry; although the notion of a circle can be extended to any curve (non-Euclidean) geometry, these new circles will no longer satisfy the formula π = C/d [10]. We should have paid attention in high school instead of being so worried about makeup and dating. More

Happy Nat'l Pizza Day (Gluten?)

VIDEO: The Right Stuff celebrates National Pizza Day (Feb. 9, '25) with Good Morning America

Pizza is an American invention
Gluten-free vegan deep dish?
They don't eat pizza in Italy. They don't even know what it is. Italia eatta panini, a kind of fluffy bread with just a few garnishes for flavor. It took an American to make a pie. Living on the West Coast, which may arguably be the best coast, we are all about a thick crust, preferably gluten-free.

The East Coast, in New York style, a flour tortilla is used, the thinner the better. (How does that make any sense?) Living outdoors in giant in backyards, the west and Southwest can have their own pizza ovens year around, except for the two weeks when it rains.

Vegan nut cheese drizzling, Beyond meat toppings, and lots of fresh green basil, thin heirloom tomato slices, herbs, and no pineapple (we repeat, no pineapple, this is not Hawaii), with savory spices, maybe even some shitake mushrooms... There's no end to what the imagination can create on Pizza Day.

Oddly, this year falls on 4/20, and Pizza Day falls on Super Bowl Sunday -- traditionally known as the day more avocados are consumed than any other (except maybe Cinco de Mayo) due to the dips, chips, and sandwiches. It's almost as if someone, some deva up there, knows what's going on down here.
  • Q: What's wrong with gluten?

Gluten kills (Pura Vida Foodology)
A: Gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye, oats, and buckwheat (not a grain or grass but full of a gluten to protect itself), a plant toxin appearing in different forms with different names but doing the same thing to our intestines -- stripping the cilia and leading us to have digestion and malabsorption issues. ALL oats (even the ones labelled "gluten free") are the worst because they are full of avenin (oat gluten); the label is accurate because the wheat version (from cross-contamination) is called gluten, not the oat version.

Our intestines should look like a shag rug on the inside, not a smooth water hose. But as colorectal exams show, we are no longer equipped to absorb nutrients. All humans are harmed by any amount of gluten (gliaden, avenin, etc.), but we're used to it.

Monsanto (Bayer Inc.) and others have manufactured new higher-gluten forms of grains. That makes food production more convenient, addictive, and harmful. We all want spongy, chewy, moist breadlike products, full of protein (the cause of gluten's harm) and lots of starch, which is quickly converted into sugar by the body.

Youngevity Founder Dr. Joel Wallach (doc)
Dr. Joel Wallach
(
criticalhealthnews.com) states that nothing is more widespread and harmful than the glutens (a plant lectin), killing countless people every year but doing so slowly by malabsorption, malnutrition, and the inability to replenish the micronutrients needed for vibrant living. Deficiencies caused by eating glutens cause many diseases, and supplementing won't help if we are still being exposed to gluten (hidden everywhere or in obvious sources) because our cilia has not been allowed to grow back. Macronutrients like calories come in, but not the trace minerals and vitamins from healthy foods and supplements. The soil is depleted, so even the best most varied (organic, seasonal, local, fresh, healthy) diet will not help restore the 65 to 90 vital nutrients we need if gluten is still in our diet.

German witches celebrate pagan Yule

Can Jewish witches celebrate Israel's genocide for German Yule, or is that weird?

How to celebrate Yule | Rituals and Pagan history of the winter solstice
Seven magical destinations for anybody
fascinated by witches (Lonely Planet)
(The witches' cookery) Dec. 10, 2021: On the night from Dec. 21st to the 22nd, we are celebrating the winter solstice or "Yule," as many witches and pagans call it. Merry Yuletide!

In today's witch vlog, I am taking viewers through my winter solstice celebration to give inspiration on how to celebrate Yule, create some yule-themed kitchen witchery with yummy orange and cardamom cookies, show my simple winter solstice ritual, and conjure up a witchy winter brew in my cauldron.

Saint Lucia of Light, Saint Lucy in Sweden, unlike the nasty German version
Let's go back to pagan times and traditions
Of course, this Yule vlog is peppered with pagan history, green witch lore, and lots of information on Yule and the roots of modern Anglo-Saxon Christmas traditions. Hope everyone enjoys this bit of winter witchcraft!

What do you think of the Bavarian celebration of St. Lucia (Goddess of Light in Sweden, Catholicism, and German witchcraft)? It is a bit grim... xD How are we celebrating Yule?
