Happy Nat'l Pizza Day (Gluten?)

VIDEO: The Right Stuff celebrates National Pizza Day (Feb. 9, '25) with Good Morning America

The Right Stuff celebrates National Pizza Day
(Good Morning America) Feb. 7, 2025: Lifestyle contributor Lori Bergamotto shares top pizza recommendations for Super Bowl Taylor Swift Viewing party and National Pizza Day this Sunday. GET PIZZA FIX HERE: tinyurl.com/bdhzaw3u

Pizza is an American invention
Gluten-free vegan deep dish?
They don't eat pizza in Italy. They don't even know what it is. Italia eatta panini, a kind of fluffy bread with just a few garnishes for flavor. It took an American to make a pie. Living on the West Coast, which may arguably be the best coast, we are all about a thick crust, preferably gluten-free.

The East Coast, in New York style, a flour tortilla is used, the thinner the better. (How does that make any sense?) Living outdoors in giant in backyards, the west and Southwest can have their own pizza ovens year around, except for the two weeks when it rains.

Vegan nut cheese drizzling, Beyond meat toppings, and lots of fresh green basil, thin heirloom tomato slices, herbs, and no pineapple (we repeat, no pineapple, this is not Hawaii), with savory spices, maybe even some shitake mushrooms... There's no end to what the imagination can create on Pizza Day.

Oddly, this year falls on 4/20, and Pizza Day falls on Super Bowl Sunday -- traditionally known as the day more avocados are consumed than any other (except maybe Cinco de Mayo) due to the dips, chips, and sandwiches. It's almost as if someone, some deva up there, knows what's going on down here.
  • Q: What's wrong with gluten?

Gluten kills (Pura Vida Foodology)
A: Gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye, oats, and buckwheat (not a grain or grass but full of a gluten to protect itself), a plant toxin appearing in different forms with different names but doing the same thing to our intestines -- stripping the cilia and leading us to have digestion and malabsorption issues. ALL oats (even the ones labelled "gluten free") are the worst because they are full of avenin (oat gluten); the label is accurate because the wheat version (from cross-contamination) is called gluten, not the oat version.

Our intestines should look like a shag rug on the inside, not a smooth water hose. But as colorectal exams show, we are no longer equipped to absorb nutrients. All humans are harmed by any amount of gluten (gliaden, avenin, etc.), but we're used to it.

Monsanto (Bayer Inc.) and others have manufactured new higher-gluten forms of grains. That makes food production more convenient, addictive, and harmful. We all want spongy, chewy, moist breadlike products, full of protein (the cause of gluten's harm) and lots of starch, which is quickly converted into sugar by the body.

Youngevity Founder Dr. Joel Wallach (doc)
Dr. Joel Wallach
(
criticalhealthnews.com) states that nothing is more widespread and harmful than the glutens (a plant lectin), killing countless people every year but doing so slowly by malabsorption, malnutrition, and the inability to replenish the micronutrients needed for vibrant living. Deficiencies caused by eating glutens cause many diseases, and supplementing won't help if we are still being exposed to gluten (hidden everywhere or in obvious sources) because our cilia has not been allowed to grow back. Macronutrients like calories come in, but not the trace minerals and vitamins from healthy foods and supplements. The soil is depleted, so even the best most varied (organic, seasonal, local, fresh, healthy) diet will not help restore the 65 to 90 vital nutrients we need if gluten is still in our diet.

Gluten kills even without stomach symptoms

Dr. Tom O'Bryan, Host Lisa Garr, Coast to Coast AM, Feb. 3, 2023; Eds., Wisdom Quarterly
I'm not fat. I have chronic inflammation. I'm burning up, making me susceptible to cancer!
A gluten-free, vegan Mediterranean diet with real olive oil may be the best.
.
TheInflammationEquation.com 3 Step Gut Reboot
The biggest message Dr. O'Bryan revealed last night was that EVERYONE who consumes wheat or "gluten-free" products contaminated with wheat gluten (up to 20% and still legally labelled "gluten-free") is harmed by it. The human body recognizes wheat protein as an invasive organism and reacts to it as a pathogen because of the proteins and peptides on its surface. All of this has been made much worse by Monsanto Corporation and Big Ag, which have increased the gluten (a harmful plant lectin) in wheat for ease of processing, making it more addictive even as it does more harm like stripping away the cilia lining the gut responsible for most of our nutrient absorption.
It's no wonder so many of us are fat, inflamed, and malnourished. That's right. We're starving not for calories, which are in abundance, but for nutrients, particularly micronutrients. Dr. Joel Wallach insists we need about 92 nutrients from our diet (if these nutrients were still found in the soil) or from supplements to be healthy and not deteriorating. Suffice it to say, most of us are deteriorating. We need to clear out the bad (remove all gluten and about 13 other harmful agents typically consumed on the SAD (Standard American Diet) to be able to absorb and assimilate the benefits of essential supplements. While everyone who eats wheat and wheat-contaminated products is harmed, only about 1 in 8 exhibit stomach symptoms. The rest of us are suffering from mental, skin, and many other problems. Skip breakfast. Cleanse instead (video)

What about shakes like MUD WTR? Wait.
One of the most common of nutritional MYTHS is that breakfast is "the most important meal of the day" trope, which was popularized by the Seventh Day Adventist John Harvey Kellogg to promote sales of his cash cow cr*p "Corn Flakes Cereal."

Fifty years later Edward Bernays, "the father of public relations" (PR, commercial for-profit propaganda) and one of the pioneers of modern-day advertising, convinced Americans that eating a high calorie, high protein meal first thing in the morning was part of some kind of healthy lifestyle.

What about plant-based pea protein?
The fact is that it is not. Facts about breakfast are a bit different. First of all, our paleolithic ancestors, whose bodies and biochemical needs were much like ours, didn't start off the morning with a big meal.

More likely they went without or perhaps began the day with some seeds or maybe plant material of some kind. Second, eating draws blood and nutritional resources away from the brain and the muscles towards the digestive tract, leading to drowsiness and feeling a need for a nap. This is not a plus for productivity.

Perhaps most importantly, between our last meal of the previous day and our next on the following day, the body is gradually becoming ketogenic, which means weight loss, more energy, and improvements in inflammation markers (less inflammation).

If one must eat breakfast, avoid cereal (which is full of toxic acrylamides, sugar, preservatives, coloring and synthetic flavoring agents and, worst of all, plant lectins like gluten, gliadin, fagopyrins in the case of wheat, oat, buckwheat, rye, and barley), sweets, and processed foods.

Stick to protein and good fats: avocados, raw soaked nuts, and green leaves. Enjoyed with lots of salt and natural spices, all are great foods to start off the day, [the later the better. Drink 16 to 20 ounces of water first thing in the morning, as this will help complete the overnight cleansing process, a natural cycle that completes around 11:00 am.] More

Wheatus: “Teenage Dirtbag” (Iron Maiden)

Wheatus "Teenage Dirtbag" (official video)
(WheatusOfficial) “Teenage Dirtbag” is something Halsey likes, an old hit song by Wheatus about not fitting in. Wheatus.lnk.to/subscribeYD. #Wheatus #TeenageDirtbag #AlternativeRock SONG Teenage Dirtbag ARTIST Wheatus WRITER Brendan Brown.

LYRICS: 'Cause I'm just a teenage dirt bag, baby/ Yeah, I'm just a teenage dirt bag, baby/ Listen to Iron Maiden, baby, with me, ooh

Who's Iron Maiden? "Run to the Hills"

White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes, he killed our creed
He took our game for his own need
We fought him hard, we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came, too much for Cree
Oh, will we ever be set free?

Riding through dust clouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom, the stab in the back
Women and children are cowards, attack

[Chorus]
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives

Soldier blue in the barren wastes
Hunting and killing's their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good Indians are tame
Selling them whiskey and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old

[Chorus]

Plant Paradox: Dr. Gundry on bad health foods

Dr. Steven R Gundry MD, 4/25/17; Ananda (DBM), Ashley Wells (eds.). Wisdom Quarterly

The Plant Paradox: Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain
Most of us have heard of toxic gluten — a protein found in wheat, pizza, flour, pasta, and bread that causes widespread inflammation and other problems in the body.

Americans spend billions of dollars on gluten-free diets in an effort to protect their health. But what if we’ve been missing the root of the problem?

In The Plant Paradox, renowned California cardiologist Dr. Steven Gundry reveals that gluten is just one variety of a common, highly toxic, plant-based protein called lectin.

Lectins are found in grains like wheat and also in the “gluten-free” foods most of us commonly  think are healthy -- including many fruits, vegetables, nuts (like peanuts, which are actually beans), beans, and conventional dairy products.

These proteins, which are found in the grains, seeds, skins, rinds, and leaves of plants, are designed by nature to protect plants from predators like humans.

Once ingested, they incite a kind of chemical warfare in our bodies, causing inflammatory reactions that can lead to weight gain and serious health conditions, like auto-immune diseases.
  • "I read this book...it worked. My auto-immune disease is gone, and I'm 37 pounds lighter in my pleather." - Kelly Clarkson
This fruit is a health food full of good fat.
At his clinics in California, Dr. Gundry has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients suffering from auto-immune disorders, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases with a protocol that detoxes the cells, repairs the gut, and nourishes the body.

Now, in the book series The Plant Paradox, he shares this clinically-proven program with readers everywhere.

The simple and daunting fact is, lectins are everywhere. Fortunately, Dr. Gundry offers simple hacks to employ to avoid them, including:
  • Peel veggies. Most of the lectins are contained in the skin and seeds of plants; simply peeling and de-seeding vegetables (like tomatoes and peppers) reduces their lectin content.
  • Eat fruit in season. Fruit contain fewer lectins when ripe, so eating apples, berries, and other lectin-containing fruits at the peak of ripeness helps minimize lectin consumption.
  • Swap brown rice for white. Whole grains and seeds with hard outer coatings are designed by nature to cause digestive distress — because they are full of lectins.
With a full list of lectin-containing foods and simple substitutes for each, a step-by-step detox and eating plan, and delicious lectin-free recipes, The Plant Paradox illuminates the hidden dangers lurking in a salad bowl — and shows us how to eat whole foods in a whole new way. More

The Brick Oven (Ajahn Chah)

Ajahn Chah.org via Ven. Sujato, Ellie Askew, Dhr. Seven (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly; Townsends
WARNING: For health and beauty avoid wheat, rye, barley, and oats (toxic gluten, which in oats is called avenin). Bake bricks, not gluten.

Every feeling can lead to wisdom.
If some feeling makes an impression on the mind, don’t simply disregard it. It’s like baking bricks.

Have you ever seen a brick oven? They build a fire about two or three feet in front of the oven so that all of its smoke and heat are drawn into it, and none stays outside.

All the heat then goes into the oven and quickly gets the job done.

People who practice the Dharma (the Buddha's teaching on gaining enlightenment in this very life) ought to be like a brick oven. All our feelings will then be drawn inward to be turned into right view.

Seeing sights, hearing sounds, smelling scents, tasting flavors, and [receiving mental impressions], the mind draws everything inward.

Feelings [sensations] in this way become experiences that give rise to wisdom.

Baking: Making Bread from Weed (video)

The King of Random, Joseph & Joseph, Good and Basic; CC Liu, S.Auberon, Wisdom Quarterly

Dude, let's make bread instead of getting high.
A better gluten-free option would be to use sorghum, brown rice, quinoa, amaranth, tapioca, potato, organic corn, or even glutinous rice. Dr. Joel Wallach at criticalhealthnews.com warns that everyone who wants to be healthy will avoid 13 foods -- including wheat, rye, barley, and oats.

(Yes, oats are almost exclusively gluten, which the plant uses to protect itself from being eaten. The "gluten free" label refers to wheat gluten, because oat gluten is not called "gluten" but avenins, prolamins, or gliadins.) Gluten is starch-glue, as used in papier mache, that makes bread stretchy and chewy, which feels and tastes good but is harmful and addictive. It damages the lining of the intestines, curtailing absorption of nutrients like minerals and vitamins, and it contains comforting heroin-like compounds.
Let's make veggie burgers from Impossible
Intolerance to certain gluten proteins includes oats: Gluten is present in wheat, barley, rye (as shown in this video), oat, and all their species and hybrids.[2][21] So it cannot be "gluten free" even if the bag says so in big red letters. It contains hundreds of proteins, with high contents of prolamins.[22] Oat prolamins, called avenins, are similar to toxic gliadins found in wheat, hordeins in barley, and secalins in rye (as in the weed here), which are collectively named "gluten."[2] Avenins toxicity in celiac people depends on the oat cultivar consumed... Vegan diet reduces disease risks: Sweden

David Gutierrez (Natural News); VRG; PBN; Liv's Life; BR; Crystal Quintero, Wisdom Quarterly

Vegan Diet Reduces Risk of Arthritis, Heart Attack, Stroke
Researchers from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm (Sweden's Caroline Institute) have published a study in the journal Arthritis Research and Therapy showing that eating a vegan and gluten-free may reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes in rheumatoid arthritis patients, as well as reducing the severity of the disease. Rheumatoid arthritis is considered a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

5 Reasons You SHOULDN'T Go Vegan
(Bonny Rebecca) Five reasons you SHOULDN'T go vegan

There are better things to eat than meat.
The researchers studied 66 adults with rheumatoid arthritis, averaging 50 years of age. Thirty-eight of the adults were placed on a vegan, gluten-free diet in which carbohydrates provided 60 percent of daily calories, fat provided 30 percent, and protein provided 10 percent.

A vegan diet is one free of any animal products -- including flesh, dairy, and eggs. In addition to omitting animal products, the study participants also avoided gluten, a toxic protein [the plant uses to avoid being eaten] found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye.

Instead, participants in the vegan and gluten-free group began with a one-day diet of berry juice and broth. Starting on the second day, they were fed gluten-free grains such as buckwheat, corn, millet, and rice.

In addition, they ate ample quantities of nuts, sunflower seeds, vegetables, and fruits. Calcium was provided with a daily serving of sesame milk. More

Why eat a cruelty-free diet that's good for the environment?
VEGANS KNOW HOW TO PARTY COVER
Vegans Know How to Party
People choose to be vegan for their health, for our environmental, or for ethical reasons. For example, some feel that it promotes the meat industry to buy or eat eggs and dairy products. Once dairy cows and egg-laying chickens are too old to be productive, they are often slaughtered and sold as meat. And since male calves do not produce milk, they are usually tortured, raised as "veal" or other products. Some humans avoid these items because of conditions associated with their production. Many vegans choose this lifestyle to promote a humane and caring world. They know that they are not perfect, but they believe they have a responsibility to try to do their best, while not being judgmental of others. More

The Church of Seitan (VEGAN Sundays)

Editors, Wisdom Quarterly; Church of Satan.com (meetup.com)
Vegan taco truck (savory green jackfruit), vegan cupcakes, DJ music, free bingo, prizes!

Calm down. Those in the know are aware that "seitan" is just a misleading Japanese name for "wheat meat."

What is it? It's toxic plant gluten as a lump of that feels, looks, cooks, and taste like whatever seasoning is added, which sauteed soy sauce can make taste like meat.

Satan is another altogether different lump Christians used to worry about. He's sort of real, or beings who call themselves by that name, but most people don't worry about it anymore because religion has burned us and lied to us so much.

Tori Amos loves satin (sheets).
And satin is something Tori Amos like to indulge in for sensuality.

Like, who's the genius who first called soy curd "toe fu"? Not a great marketing move, but we can't expect everything to make sense in modern English.

Two clever gluten-free vegan hipsters, Melanie Maus and Ai the Vegan Cannibal, in Los Angeles thought it would be funny to name third Sundays at the Verdugo Bar in Glassell Park "The Church of Seitan."

Starting April 2nd the Verdugo Bar also features free Friendship Buddies Comedy Show night. Next service is on April 16, 2017. More

Nepal: late monsoon brings fear of shortage

Late monsoon brings fear of food shortage in Nepal
Subel Bhandari (AFP)

LALITPUR, Nepal — Every year, Nepalese rice farmer Ratnakaji Maharjan celebrates the arrival of the monsoon rains [Vassa] by attending a centuries-old festival in this historic town near Kathmandu. The annual event, in which a huge chariot said to carry the Hindu rain god Machchindra Nath is pulled through the streets of Lalitpur, draws crowds from across the Kathmandu Valley to celebrate and pray for a good monsoon.

But this year, Maharjan's mood was more subdued than celebratory as he lined up to worship before the wooden chariot. "The monsoon is almost a month late," complained the 35-year-old, whose family has farmed here for five generations.

"The weather patterns seem to have changed, and we don't know how to adjust." Nepal's long-delayed monsoon finally arrived in the Kathmandu Valley on Monday, allowing local farmers to begin transplanting their seedlings to the waterlogged rice paddies after weeks of anxious waiting. But there are fears the delay could prove devastating for this year's rice crop, and experts say the increasing unpredictability of the weather is causing huge problems for farmers in one of the world's poorest countries.

"The monsoon this year started around three weeks late," said Krishna Prasad Paudyal, senior scientist with the government-funded Nepal Agriculture Research Council. "This was a major setback for rice planting, which requires lots of water. The delayed monsoon meant a lot of young seedlings died, and even those that could be planted won't have time to mature enough to yield a good crop."

Rice accounts for almost 50 percent of cereal production in Nepal, which is particularly dependent on rainfall because less than one-third of its agricultural land is irrigated. The delay to the monsoon came after the landlocked country suffered its driest winter for 40 years, resulting in a fall of 20-25 percent in the production of wheat, Nepal's second-biggest crop after rice.

Serious food shortages looming
Three years after Nepal's decade-long civil war came to an end, the World Food Programme (WFP) says many people are still living in near-crisis conditions, with 41 percent of the population undernourished. Almost one in four Nepalese people live on less than a dollar a day, and around 2.7 million depend on WFP food aid.

"There are 16 districts that are highly or severely food insecure as a result of the drought and underlying factors like high food prices and poverty," WFP country director for Nepal Richard Ragan told AFP. "WFP has food-for-work projects in these districts, but we are rushing to include people living in drought-affected villages not covered under our activities."

Ragan said the latest drought was particularly devastating because it followed more than 18 months of high food prices and years of poor crop production in many areas. "Many people have used up all of their food and cash reserves and are now forced to take drastic measures to survive -- like skipping meals and selling off agricultural assets," he added.

Some local officials are predicting worse to come if this year's rice harvest is poor. Balgobinda Pathak, a government agriculture official in western Achham district, said he was expecting serious food shortages later in the year. "Last winter, food production was down by 60 per cent decrease due to erratic weather and some floods," he said.

"This year, 50 per cent of crops have already been destroyed due to lack of rainfall. We will see a massive food crisis later this year." Experts say Nepal is unprepared for the changing weather patterns, and will have to do more to adapt to rising temperatures and increasingly erratic rainfall.

"What we have seen lately is not just a change in the weather, but extreme variability in weather patterns," said Pitamber Sharma, a professor and expert on urban and rural planning. "These kind of erratic weather patterns will have a huge impact on farming and cultivation."
