God did NOT save Trump, says RNS

Republican New Yorker Ex-Pres. DJ Trump admires his future and guns (nytimes.com)
I am God. I inspired Crooks to shoot, I redirected the bullet, and I saved Trump. I am that I am.
.
Nothing happens unless I will it
(RNS) — I’m glad Donald Trump is alive, and I’m quite confident God is, too.

But my understanding of Christian theology makes me certain that God did NOT save the former president from assassination.

Nearly immediately after word of the shooting broke, pastors and politicians took to social media to thank God for saving Trump.

“God protected President Trump,” Florida VP hopeful Sen. Marco Rubio posted on Twitter (X). Franklin Graham chimed in.

I'm God's candidate. See my lead earring?
Robert Jeffress, senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Dallas, said it was “a demonstration of the power of Almighty God,” calling it “inexplicable apart from God.”

Was it all staged with fake blood?

Jeffress, a longtime Trump supporter, went further: “I believe God spared Donald Trump’s life for a purpose…for the purpose of calling our nation back to its Judeo-Christian foundation.”

Theology — the attempt by finite human minds to try to make sense of a "God" who is infinitely bigger than human imagination — can be tricky.
Crooks is a Republican Jew?
But in this case, it’s not that hard to see that there is something wrong with a theology that says God intervened to save Trump, which implies in an awful way that God [or the Gnostic's Demiurge] redirected the bullet into the person who was killed at his rally, or the two people who were grievously injured.

One of the few things we can say definitively about God is this: God is love. This idea is at the heart of the Christian faith.

The New Testament says, “No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another God abides in us….” The Apostle Paul wrote, “All the law is summed up into this command — Love. Love God and each other.”...

My bad. I made Crooks do it without practice
If our theology [and worship of an openly genocidal Old Testament God calling for us to murder, massacre, abduct, rape, enslave, and kill by stoning anyone said to be displeasing] does not make us more loving, then we should question our theology.

In the words of theologian Barbara Brown Taylor, “The only clear line I draw these days is this: When my religion tries to come between me and my neighbor, I will choose my neighbor…Jesus never commanded me to love my religion.” More: God did not save Donald Trump (RNS via MSN)

Catholic Church okays RAT eating for Lent

Tori Amos; Pfc. Sandoval, Dhr. Seven, Ananda (Dharma Bu Meditation) (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

What the? Who would eat a rat of any size?
LYRICS
: ("God" by Tori Amos) [Chorus] God, sometimes you just don’t come through/ Do you need a woman to look after you?/ God, sometimes you just don’t come through// You make pretty daisies, pretty daisies love/ (Come down and tell me what you mean, now)/ I’ve gotta find, find, find what you’re doing about things here/ (Huh, whatcha doing?)/ A few witches burning, gets a little toasty here/ (Hey now, what do you know, what do you know?)/ I gotta find, find, find why you always go when the wind blows// [Chorus]// Well, tell me you’re crazy, maybe then I’ll understand/ (Come down and tell me what you mean, now)/ You got your 9, 9 iron in the back seat just in case/ (Huh, whatcha doing?)/ Heard you’ve gone south, well, babe, you love your new 4-wheel/ (Hey now, what do you know, what do you know?)/ I gotta find, find, find why you always go when the wind blows/ “Give not thy strength unto women nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings”/ Will you even tell her if you decide to make the sky fall?/ Will you even tell her if you decide to make the sky?// [Chorus]

All the disgusting animals Catholic Church allows for new Lent, Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene begs Christian women to stop sexualizing themselves, JKL pranks Trumpers!
(Jimmy Kimmel Live) Feb. 23, 2024: KFC has unveiled their latest culinary monstrosity, in Venezuela (South America) the Friday Lent menu has been updated to include new animals -- like the world's largest rodent ("water rats" called capybaras), after more than 50 years the U.S. is back on the moon [sort of, given that the Intuitive Machines Lunar Lander tipped over and ended up DOA], it will soon be illegal for kids in Florida to go on TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took to X (Twitter) to talk about women being good Christian role models rather than caving into the world and its ways), Don John Trump popped into a Christian religious convention to convince the crowd he is one of them, and the show conducts an experiment in South Carolina ahead of this weekend's primary to ask people who identified themselves as "supporters of Donald Trump" for their take on some of Genocide Joe Biden’s more controversial actions and quotes. But what they were not told at first was that what was said was not from Joe Biden but actually from dumb Don Trump to watch them instantly flip-flop on what they thought. #Kimmel

Reign In Blood: The SLAYER Story (doc)

Reign In Blood: The Slayer Story ┃ Documentary
(RAWMUSICTV) Premiered Dec. 9, 2022 On October 7th, 1986, one of the most iconic records of a generation would send shockwaves through the music industry.

Finally, Beavis, something worth listening to!
It was such a controversial album, radio stations wouldn’t play it and Columbia Records refused to release it due to a song called "Angel of Death." Even when the record was released by Geffen, they refused to even put their logo on it.

That album would be called Reign in Blood by Slayer. Arguably the most influential thrash metal band of all time.

They’ve been attacked by religious groups, accused of being Satanic and faced a lawsuit that involved murder. Yet despite this, they are now a household name with 12 studio albums under their belt, millions of records sold worldwide, and a legacy that will surely live on through the ages.

Tori Amos improves on the hit song by switching perspective

Slayer's album covers alone were enough to trigger backlash from labels, parents, and Christian groups around the world, some of their song titles and lyrics would even have them pinned as Nazi sympathizers. We’ve seen similar stories about bands having links to Satanism when Black Sabbath arrived in 1968 and KISS in 1973 when people thought it was an acronym for "Knights In Satan's Service."

Slayer, however, played this to their advantage, they wanted to shock people, they wanted to stand out from the crowd, that’s exactly what they did, and this is their story.

(JeffMara Podcast) Oct. 24, 2022. Near-death experience podcast Guest 620 is C.A. Kanooble, who during her NDE experience traveled in time 13 years to her past and saved herself. How are such things possible? Was there angelic/devic help?

Our beloved American goddess Tori Devi
LYRICS
: "Spark" (Tori Amos): She's addicted to nicotine patches/ She's afraid of the light in the dark/ 6:58 are you sure where my spark is?/ Here, here, here/ She's convinced she could hold back a glacier/ (Between cotton balls and xylophones)/ But she couldn't keep baby alive/ (I'm getting old)/ Doubting if there's a woman in there somewhere/ Here, here, here// [CHORUS:] You say you don't want it, again and again/ But you don't, don't really mean it/ You say you don't want it, the circus we're in/ But you don't, don't really mean it/ You don't, don't really mean it// If the divine master plan is perfection/ (Swing low)/ Maybe next I'll give Jewish a try/ (Swing low, sweet chariot)/ Trusting my soul to the Ice Cream Assassin/ Here, here, here/  [Chorus]/ How many Fates turn around in the overtime? Ballerinas have fins that you'll never find/ You thought that you were the bomb, yes, well so did I

The Church of Seitan (VEGAN Sundays)

Editors, Wisdom Quarterly; Church of Satan.com (meetup.com)
Vegan taco truck (savory green jackfruit), vegan cupcakes, DJ music, free bingo, prizes!

Calm down. Those in the know are aware that "seitan" is just a misleading Japanese name for "wheat meat."

What is it? It's toxic plant gluten as a lump of that feels, looks, cooks, and taste like whatever seasoning is added, which sauteed soy sauce can make taste like meat.

Satan is another altogether different lump Christians used to worry about. He's sort of real, or beings who call themselves by that name, but most people don't worry about it anymore because religion has burned us and lied to us so much.

Tori Amos loves satin (sheets).
And satin is something Tori Amos like to indulge in for sensuality.

Like, who's the genius who first called soy curd "toe fu"? Not a great marketing move, but we can't expect everything to make sense in modern English.

Two clever gluten-free vegan hipsters, Melanie Maus and Ai the Vegan Cannibal, in Los Angeles thought it would be funny to name third Sundays at the Verdugo Bar in Glassell Park "The Church of Seitan."

Starting April 2nd the Verdugo Bar also features free Friendship Buddies Comedy Show night. Next service is on April 16, 2017. More

The Best Thing About Being a Girl! (video)

Amber Larson, Ashley Wells, Seven, Crystal Quintero, Pat Macpherson, Wisdom Quarterly

U.S. model before and after Photoshop
Like I guess it would be the way you can be cute and like wear makeup and like, you know, I don't know, just like be yourself but cute and with makeup and, yeah, that's the best thing!

Oh, and being paid by ginormous corporate sponsors to harm the image of chicks and like everybody else, that's pretty cool, too! Can we, like, go to Sephora now?

(NET) Gender stereotyping promotes sexism thanks to Disney and its corporate fortunes

OMG! :-O
Media images of females sank to new lows in the U.S. in the last year for which data is available. The usual suspects are responsible -- Disney Corp., the Associated Press (AP), Hollywood moguls, the porn industry, gentleman's clubs, marketers, PR firms, modeling agencies, and maybe us.

Tori Amos' song for Wes Anderson (npr.og)
Of course WQ is to blame, too, but by "us" we mean it in the larger sense of the U.S. population. We are the consumers, and corporations claim the demanders of such images, TV portrayals, and gender stereotypes. One day FEMEN will come to these shores from the Ukraine, and it'll be death to the patriarchy.  Until then, at the very least, one ought to avoid the Beverly Hills Hotel as we ignore the women we injure and cast aspersions at brutal multi-billionaires like the sexist Sultan of Brunei.

Who knew mere multi-millionaires cared?
Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, and others protested outside the Beverly Hills Hotel, owned by the sexist/misogynist and patriarchal Sultan of Brunei (who is worth 20 billion) -- the first ruler to establish Sharia Law in S.E. Our Brains on Porn
Hank talks about something or other then finally gets to the sex at Minute 4:14. Fast forward.

Jean Kilbourne asks... hot or not?
A brain on porn has a lot in common with a brain on religion. They both make part of the anxious brain turn off, at least in women, according to the Journal of Sexual Medicine and Dutch physicians. There is no "GOD spot," claims Hank, but in the bedroom he could be proven wrong. In addition to space talk, this short episode touches on: synthetic biology, XNA (xenonucleic acids), polymerase, evolution, evolve, religion, porn, pornography, journal of sexual medicine, brain, sexual arousal, anxiety, sex, religion, spirituality, parietal lobe, and the brain's GOD spot. Killing Us Softly
(CM)

After all, what are BOOBS for?
In this highly anticipated update of her pioneering "Killing Us Softly" series, Jean Kilbourne takes a fresh look at how advertising traffics in distorted and destructive ideals of femininity.

This simultaneously defines or alter-casts destructive norms of masculinity as opposite or separate rather than cooperative and united. All whole humans are both feminine and masculine.

The film marshals a range of new print and television advertisements to lay bare a stunning pattern of damaging gender stereotypes -- images and messages that too often reinforce unrealistic and unhealthy perceptions of beauty, perfection, and sexuality.

For porn and selling clothes. D'uh. Obviously!
By bringing Kilbourne's groundbreaking analysis up to date, Killing Us Softly 4 challenges a new generation of students to take advertising seriously and to think critically about popular culture and its relationship to sexism, eating disorders, and gender violence.

Jean Kilbourne, Ed.D. is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work on the image of women in advertising and for her critical studies of alcohol and tobacco advertising. In the late 1960s she began her exploration of the connection between advertising and several public health issues, including violence against women, eating disorders, and addiction, and launched a movement to promote media literacy as a way to end and prevent these problems.

A radical and original idea at the time, this approach is now mainstream and an integral part of most prevention programs. Her films, lectures, and TV appearances have been seen by millions throughout the world.

Kilbourne was named by The New York Times Magazine one of the three most popular speakers on college campuses. She is the creator of the renowned "Killing Us Softly: Advertising's Image of Women" film series and the author of the award-winning book Can't Buy My Love: How Advertising Changes the Way We Think and Feel and co-author of So Sexy So Soon: The New Sexualized Childhood and What Parents Can Do to Protect Their Kids.

Temple of Mice

Sharon Guynup and Nicolas Ruggia (Nat'l Geographic Channel)

RATS RULE AT INDIAN TEMPLE -- The floors are a living tangle of undulating fur. Small, brown blurs scurry across marble floors. Thousands of rats dine with people and scamper over their feet.

Temple featured in Tori Amos's iconoclastic song "God"

It may sound like a nightmare from the New York City subway to some, but in India's small northwestern city of Deshnoke, this is a place of worship: Rajastan's famous Karni Mata Temple.

This ornate, isolated Hindu temple was constructed by Maharaja Ganga Singh in the early 1900s as a tribute to the rat goddess, Karni Mata. Intricate marble panels line the entrance and the floors, and silver and gold decorations are found throughout.

But by far the most intriguing aspect of the interior is the 20,000-odd rats that call this temple home. These holy animals are called kabbas, and many people travel great distances to pay their respects.

The legend goes that Karni Mata, a mystic matriarch from the 14th century, was an incarnation of Durga, the goddess of power and victory. At some point during her life, the child of one of her clansmen died. She attempted to bring the child back to life, only to be told by Yama, the god of death, that he had already been reincarnated.

Karni Mata cut a deal with Yama: From that point forward, all of her tribespeople would be reborn as rats until they could be born back into the clan.

In Hinduism, death marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one on the path to a soul's eventual oneness with the universe. This cycle of transmigration is known as Samsara and is precisely why Karni Mata's rats are treated like royalty.

Gautam Ghosh, professor of anthropology and Asian studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, noted how rare this rat-worshipping temple is. "In India, as in the West, rats aren't treated with particular veneration."

In Hinduism, many deities take animals forms. "The main theological point is that there's no dividing line between what forms gods or goddesses can use," said Rachel Fell McDermott, professor of Asian and Middle Eastern cultures at Barnard College in New York City. "There's nothing to say they can't take form as a fish, a bird, or even a rat." More>>
