Math Goddess: 'Man Who Knew Infinity'

TrideviSarasvatiLakshmi (aka Namagiri Thayar), and Parvati (Divine Feminine)
.
The Man Who Knew Infinity (Free w/ads PG-13)
(YouTube Movies & TV) Based on a true story, Jeremy Irons and Dev Patel star in this inspirational film about an obscure Indian mathematician whose groundbreaking theories changed mathematics forever.

The Goddess told me these secrets.
  • If the genius author (the modern rishi Srinivasa Ramanujan) is to be taken at his word, it is not his genius but that of his Hindu Goddess Namagiri Thayar who imparted pure math knowledge and insights. She is said to be an avatar or incarnation of Lakshmi Narayana, though the titular goddess of knowledge and learning in the Hindu pantheon is said to be the great Saraswati (who together with Parvati and Lakshmi form a trinity known as Tridevi).
Indian math genius Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar[a] (Dec. 22, 1887–April 26, 1920) was an Indian mathematician often regarded as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time. He had almost no formal training in pure mathematics. Yet, he made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems then considered unsolvable. Ramanujan initially developed his own mathematical research in isolation. According to Hans Eysenck, "he tried to interest the leading professional mathematicians in his work, but failed for the most part. What he had to show them was too novel, too unfamiliar, and additionally presented in unusual ways; they could not be bothered." More

When devas descend, they communicate

Akasha devas are the "shining ones" from the celestial worlds, the heavens, who from time to time visit humans, who note their grace, elegance, and orderliness. What do they say when they visit humans? They are able to communicate directly and telepathically, by mimicking human languages, and by archetypes and dance. Some ships or vimanas pulse lights, colors, shapes, and frequencies to send their messages down. Bali, Indonesia, retains a Hindu dance tradition from India (kathak), which seems to be the stylized body language and interpretive dancing of female devas (devis) and apsaras depicted on the bas relief walls of Borobudur, the largest excavated Buddhist temple in the world as well as the ornate Angkor Wat in the jungles of Buddhist Cambodia. - Wisdom Quarterly

Legong Semarandhana in Balerung stage, Peliatan
(Bernard Marchal) Marchal is an amateur videographer and a simple tourist. His channel has no commercial purpose. He often travels to Indonesia, in particular to the Hindu island of Bali.

As he is passionate about video and Balinese culture (Hindu ceremonies, traditional dances, and music), he often films events and shows he attends. It is his way of recording memories of his stays and, more importantly, making known the rich culture of the island.

Legong Semarandhana on Balerung stage, Peliatan, Tirta Sari. Dancers: Aan Devita and Nitha Suwitri. Recorded Nov. 23, 2018.

This dance was filmed on the Balerung stage, in the small town of Peliatan (near Ubud, Bali), where world famous Balinese dances and gamelan music began.

Indeed, the first international tour of Balinese artists in the US and Europe in 1952 brought together a group from Peliatan led by A. A. Gede Mandera.

Since that time, Peliatan has remained one of the historic centers of Balinese dance and music. Two groups of the famous 1952 troupe are Tirta Sari and Gunung Sari, which give shows for visitors every week. Tirta Sari on the Balerung stage on Friday evenings and Gunung Sari on Saturdays.

Many of the best dancers in Bali learn their art in Peliatan. Legong Semarandana is a dance that developed in Balinese royal courts.

The narration refers to a long Javanese Hindu poem, a myth about the origins of love and passion between humans, embodied by the couple in love: Semara, the god (deva) of love, and Ratih, the moon goddess, interpreted by two twin dancers who perform a choreography symbolizing their harmony.

Lord Shiva then intervenes, furious to have had his meditation disturbed by the couple [because what god wouldn't be furious to be disturbed by humans and their behavior on earth].

Semara tries in vain to pierce him with arrows [like Cupid is said to do in Western mythology]. Lord Shiva, who takes on the appearance of the terrible Rangda, curses the desire that forces him to create the mortal world and intends to reduce the two lovers to ashes.

Apologies for any inaccuracies in the story summary and thanks in advance to anyone who can correct or complete the explanation.

What's a 'dakini'? Female demon or goddess?

CC Liu, Amber Larson, Crystal Quintero (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly Wiki edit
How does Buddhism view women and female enlightenment? The historical Buddha had enlightened female disciples -- many Scythian/Shakyian women, his wife (Rahula Mata, Yasodhara, Bimba Devi, Bhaddha Kaccana), mother (Maha Pajapati Gotama, who was made the world's first Buddhist nun), sister (Sundari Nanda)...

.
I'm a modern dakini (Adele)
A ḍākinī is a type of female spirit, goddess, or demoness in Hinduism and Buddhism [1, 2].
  • (Sanskrit डाकिनी, Tibetan མཁའ་འགྲོ་མ་, Wylie mkha' 'gro ma, THL khandroma, Mongolian хандарма, Chinese 空行母, pinyin kōngxíngmǔ, literally, 'sky-going mother', alternatively 荼枳尼, pinyin, túzhǐní; 荼吉尼, pinyin tújíní, or 吒枳尼, pinyin zhāzhǐní, Japanese 荼枳尼 / 吒枳尼 / 荼吉尼, dakini)
The concept of the ḍākinī differs depending on the context and tradition. For instance, in earlier Hindu texts and East Asian esoteric Buddhism, the term denotes a race of demonesses who ate the flesh and/or vital essence of humans.
In Hindu Tantric literature, Ḍākinī is the name of a goddess often associated with one of the six chakras or the seven fundamental elements (dhātus) of the human body.

Origin of the cave door dance (Amaterasu) (Shunsai Toshimasa 1889/wiki)
.
The Buddha Vairocana
In Nepalese and Tibetan Buddhism, meanwhile, ḍākinī (also wisdom ḍākinī) can refer to both what can be best described as fierce-looking female embodiments of enlightened energy and to human women with a certain amount of spiritual development, both of which can help Tantric initiates attaining enlightenment.

In Japan, the ḍākinīs are held in the East Asian Buddhist tradition to have been subjugated and converted to Buddhism by the Mahayana Buddha Vairocana under the guise of the god Mahākāla (Daikokuten in Japanese).

They were eventually coalesced into a single deity called Dakiniten (荼枳尼天, 吒枳尼天, or 荼吉尼天), who, after becoming syncretized with the native agricultural deity Inari (kami), became linked to fox (kitsune) iconography associated with the latter. More

BAPS: largest Hindu Buddhist temple in the US

MSN.com, 10/24/23; Swami, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Last weekend, the largest Hindu temple in the United States opened its doors on over 183 acres of former soy farmland in rural Robbinsville, New Jersey.

The East Coast state is home to one of the world’s largest populations of Hindus outside of India, and this Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) place of worship, community gathering, and culture is expected to be a pilgrimage site for Swaminarayan sect followers and other spiritual communities from around the world.

Cosmic yogic OM (aum)
Standing 191 feet at its highest point and decorated with 10,000 statues, the highly intricate, carved stone Swaminarayan Akshardham is a religious beacon amid fields of green.

However, the temple has also been mired in controversy over allegedly poor labor practices during its nearly 15-year construction, resulting in an ongoing lawsuit and federal investigation, as well as the deaths of two “volunteer” builders. More

Mother Goddess Durga ceremony (video)

Ananda (Dharma Buddhist Meditation), Jen Bradford, Ashley Wells (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly

Story behind the nine avatars of Goddess Durga
(THE HINDU SAGA) Oct. 5, 2021. The festival of Navaratri is celebrated to cherish the victory of Dharma (Goodness) over Adharma (Evil).

These nine days, ending today, are associated with the battle that was fought between Goddess Durga and the Demon King Mahish-asura.

Throughout these nine days, the nine avatars of the Goddess known as Navadurga is worshipped, each day dedicated to one incarnation or facet of her personality. Let us see the story behind each avatar.
1. Shailaputri: "the daughter of the mountains" was born to the Mountain King Himavan (of the Himalayas). She is also commonly known as Parvati and is the first of the nine Navadurga. She is depicted having two hands, holding a trident on her right hand and a lotus on left. Being the wife of Lord Shiva, she rides on his bull named Nandi.

2. Brahmacharini: The second avatar, holding a 108-bead mala or rosary in her right hand and a kamandala (water pot) in her left hand, Brahmacharini signifies tapas (tapasya) or austerities does as penance.

3. Chandraghanta: The strangest wedding procession, known as baraat, consisting ghosts, Aghoris, sages, ascetics, and every being unimaginable, was conducted. Upon seeing this sight, Parvati’s mother and relatives were in shock, mostly out of terror. To avoid any embarrassment to her family or to Shiva, Parvati transformed herself into a terrifying form, Chandraghanta.

4. Kushmanda: Ma Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day of Navaratri. It is believed that she is the ultimate source of life.

5. Skandamata: The fifth avatar, Skanda-mata literally means the "Mother of Skanda." Skanda is another name of Lord Karthikeya, often known as Murugan in the South. She rides a lion and has four arms. Two of her arms carry lotus, one is raised in blessing while the fourth holds her son Karthikeya.

6. Katyayani: Being one of the most worshipped forms of Durga, Ma Katyayani is worshipped on the sixth day of Navaratri. This the form that is often referred to as Durga. She took birth as the daughter of the Sage Katyayan, and hence came to be known as Katyayani.

7. Kaalratri: Kaal refers to death and ratri means night. Hence, Ma Kaalratri is the one who brings an end or death to anything that is associated with evil or darkness. She is more commonly referred as Kali and is worshipped on the seventh day. Kaalratri is the most terrorizing form of Durga.

8. MahaGauri: Worshipped on eight day, the story of Mahagauri has many versions. Maha means great and gauri means white or fair.

9. Siddhidatri: worshipped on the final day, she is the Adi Shakti avatar of Durga. She existed as pure energy and had no physical form. Lord Rudra worshipped her for creating the universe, and she appeared from the left side of Shiva. That is why she and Shiva represent the duality of the universe in the form of masculine and feminine energies. They unite to form Ardhanarishwara.

What is the Navaratri festival?
Indian Goddess Lakshmi
(Wiki) Navaratri is an annual festival in India, one of the most revered Hindu celebrations observed in the honor of the Mother Goddess Ma Durga. It is held over nine nights (and ten days), in the early part of the year (Chaitra or March/April) and again in the fall (Sharada). It is observed for different reasons and celebrated differently in various parts of the Hindu Indian cultural sphere [2, 3]. Theoretically, there are four seasonal Navaratri but in practice, it is the post-monsoon autumn festival called Sharada Navaratri. It is celebrated during the bright half of the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin, which typically falls in September and October [2, 4]. It takes place at the same time as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival [5]. More

Mother Goddess: Ma Durga Festival (10/5)

Bhadra Balaram das (Mayapur Voice); Ananda, Dhr. Seven, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Ma Durga: The Mightiest Mother
There have been attempts to present Mother Durga as a mere symbol of victory of good over evil. The reality, however, is different.

The excellent beauty possessed by her and the formidable weapons held in her mighty arms are a transcendental reality.

If we ever think that strength is only a male’s domain, meet Mother Durga!

She is not only a fearsome fighter celebrated across the three worlds as Mahishasura-mardini for her heroic feat of vanquishing the otherwise invincible demon King Mahishasura, Durga Devi is famed for her exceedingly exquisite beauty that perpetually remains an unsurpassable marvel of Brahma God’s perceivable realm.

With these apparently contradictory and unique characteristics, it is no fault of mortal beings to quickly assume that Durga Devi must be an imagined product of a novelist, storyteller, or poet.

The merciful glance of the divine Ma Durga Devi, a celestial goddess

The modern trend, particularly among scholars and leaders, is to call ancient events "myths" because they are not comprehensible by ordinary human minds. Such a conclusion is a clear sign of a poor fund of knowledge regarding the very purpose of cosmic creation.

There have been even attempts to present Ma Durga as a mere symbol of victory of good over evil. Being the personification of the aggregate feminine principle of material nature, her appearance is inconceivably gorgeous and her activities are enthralling.

The mighty weapons in her hands are presented to her by real celestial beings like King Indra (Sakka, King of the Devas), Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva, and Lord Vishnu himself. The ferocious lion she rides on is not symbolic either.

Ma Durga with her celestial weapons
For example, the trishul or trident she holds is a factual weapon she uses to punish big-time miscreants although she does not always use it as she can execute her missions simply through agencies like epidemics, wars, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, droughts, and so on.

Scientists today are able to make remote sensors and perform wonderful tasks from great distances. They have also invented chemical weapons that can make the atmosphere poisonous and kill thousands. If we tiny-brained humans can do this, why wouldn’t higher celestial beings (like devas) be able to remotely dispatch various atmospheric changes and diseases in targeted locations where misdeeds are on rise?

These examples shed light on the possibility of operating natural resources to control this world remotely by various demigods (devas) from greater distance. Phenomena generally considered mythical by less intelligent people are real.

Brahma-samhita explains Mother Durga’s transcendental position in Sanskrit: Sristi-sthiti pralaya-sadhana-shaktir eka chhayeva yasya bhuvanani bibharti durga icchanurupam api yasya cha chestate sa govindam adi-purusham tam aham bhajami

TRANSLATION: The eternal potency Maya [personification of illusion], who is of the nature of the shadow of the mind [chit, citta] potency, is worshiped by all people as Durga, the [threefold] creative, preservative, and destructive agency of this mundane world. I adore the primeval Lord Govinda in accordance with whose will Durga conducts herself (Brahma-samhita 5.4).

In an earlier article, Ma Durga -- busting the biggest myth of all times -- was discussed at length and her divine position from a scriptural point of view. In this article the focus is on her personal features, extraordinary prowess, and transcendental characteristics.

The historical event describing how Ma Durga annihilated Mahish-asura is unique in nature, considering it’s a one-on-one fight between the most powerful male demon of his time, the fearsome son of the demon Rambh and Durga Devi, a stunningly graceful divine female possessing extraordinary powers.

Mahish-asura became extremely powerful after receiving a boon from Lord Brahma that no male would ever be able to kill him. More

Star visits the "Hugging Saint" in Los Angeles

Star edited by Jen B. (Dharma Meditation Initiative) and Crystal Quintero, Wisdom Quarterly

I feel this could be for almost any group. They could go or meet there, share the experience, then days after June 14th, when Amma is moved on to her next tour destination, they could meet to share their experience and how it compares.

In the case of a Buddhist group, since Amma is universally inviting, they could sit together, doing silent meditation on anything peaceful, while waiting for their Amma embrace.

The Buddha hugs his son(s), Rahula and Ananda.
While they wait they could eat together, gather aside out of audible range so as not to disturb the main happenings, and have their own conversations.

They could get literature, sit in a close circle and speak about the mix of similarities and difference, speculating: Would the original Buddha have been a "hugging saint" embracing as a form of Hindu darhsan transmission of sacred blessings and healing positive energy?

It's good vibes with veggie food, vegan options, all low priced, so they could feast and enjoy the peaceful music and have their own Buddhist conversations, all while waiting for their turns to hug. They could get tickets in a row to wait in line as a group and get their hugs together. They could even tell Amma via the translator of their group, its noble intentions of compassion and raising awareness, teaching, wise guidance.

Amma might smile and giggle and speak in guidance and praise and blessing. A Buddhist group might arrange an event to all go gather at a vegan cafe or restaurant for a feast with peace-loving wisdom and inspirational conversations before the meal.

Then why not a similar group event at this annual cultural and spiritual event with music? The spiritual discourses in English between programs could be food for thought and later be used as a platform for comparing Buddhist teachings, aligned and diverging?

As for the imperfection of my writing, anyone is welcome to compare it with their own. Each truth seeker can then opt to seek, returning to future meetings after Amma has transformed and uplifted them. They might be peaceful forevermore and ready for Buddhist meditations. So yeah, I personally feel everybody ought to hug Amma least once in life.

I believe Amma wishes to hug every single human on earth at least once. It's an enriching experience to bring children. As a metaphor, imagine an Old World European with dozens of children, a child delivery a year. A mother might have 20 children and offer ALL of them hugs all their lives, whenever they want. That's unconditional motherly love.

Even if all 20 kids went on differing life paths, she would be left alone.

But Amma -- maybe because of her fearless loving saintliness can rub off and make everyone stronger and better versions of themselves. Amma could hug that mother.

I had one girlfriend who united with me in her higher holy woman state of being. She was vegan, free of toxins, straight edge, clean, sober, and smoke-free.

She told me she used to be in a popular band, the singer. She got many generous offers of free alcohol, drugs, and she felt she was becoming some kind of addict. She was going downhill on a bad path.

She was worried she would commit vehicular manslaughter in a DUI. She had noticed in her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, news stories of intoxicated drivers killing and maiming innocent people and animals on the road.

Someone invited her to see Amma. She got a hug, and it transformed her instantly into a pure, sacred holy woman with zero interest in intoxicants. She gained the power to say NO to negative offers.

I have pretty high standards, and when I met her she was already well established in a high level of self-control, so she qualified to be my girlfriend. I was very lucky.

If the legendary saints of all religions were to suddenly manifest on earth and offer personal, close, direct contact and special darhsan blessings to everybody on earth, I bet I wouldn't be the only one to run to encounter each and everyone of them.

Noble friendship, wise association, good company, satsang/sangat ("sacred fellowship") is one of the keys to the spiritual path. Maybe the simplest key in Buddhism is compassion (karuna). Well, Amma hugs fearlessly, hugs everybody, hugs with no worries about contagious diseases.

Perhaps Amma feels her higher vibration of pure, divine, loving light automatically disarms the darkness. Maybe it's a positive contagion that's infectious in our hearts and minds, our spirits (breath). Its power is for the greater good.

If the editors of Wisdom Quarterly ever compose books of true knowledge and wisdom, I'd love to hear them on CD, unabridged audio books. I ask that all authors use their own voice for audio books, at least for conscious authors.

Author Terry Brooks consulted me when he'd written only two books and subsequently wrote another 22. Neale Donald Walsch owes me half his fortune: I was the instrument the holy spirit used to help him many times in many ways in Ashland, Oregon. I uplifted him and inspired him to write the Conversations With God series and many other books.

Dharma Meditation Initiative - DisclosureFest.org - MARC.UCLA.org

Anyhow, thank you for DisclosureFest.org. I love attending any positive, spiritually-aware fest. I offer to fill the stage with original poetry, book recommendations, universal ethics, spiritual discourses -- if a scheduled performer ever fails to show up. Because your name is Jen, I quote Forest Gump: "I may be stupid, Jenny, but I know what love is." DMI

Our Buddha Boy and Goddess Girl (video)

Dhr. Seven, Amber Larson, Crystal Quintero, Ashley Wells, Wisdom Quarterly; Deccan Times

Buddha Boy was elevated to guru by followers and well-wishers (dharmasangha.info)
Goddess Girl, as we're calling Sadhvi Saraswati, is standing up for ahimsa (Indian Express)

(Maitriya Guru) Buddha Boy/Ven. Dharma Sangha's blessings from Feb. 5, 2016 (Maitriya.info)

The Buddha was right! Follow the Dharma.
In this day (dystrumpian times) and age (Kali Yuga), it is not easy to find a proper role model, a hero/heroine, an idol who does not quickly disappoint.

Buddhists (and anarchist punks) have no need for heroes, it is said. But that's not to say we don't enjoy admiring good people doing good things (rejoice/saddhu-saddhu-saddhu!) even as the world comes after them for doing it.

Monster (Mara) breathes down Buddha's neck
Take our heroine Dr. Jill Stein, M.D., Green Party presidential candidate who stood up to the twin-monsters Donny and Hillary and did not succumb to Barry or Bernie's misleading sweet talk. She stands up to corporations at the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) as a water protector and is arrested and threatened with fines and jail.

Where's my Grrl Crew, Boo? - I'm CariBOO.
Kids look up to rich automatons Tadolf Swiftler and Catty Purry because that's what they're fed. Not us.

When we want youthful idols to look up to, we look toward the Himalayas to "Buddha Boy" (Ram Bahadur Bomjon/Maitreya?/Ven. Dharma Sangha) and Sadhvi Saraswati-ji, whom we're calling the living "Goddess Girl" (not to be confused with the revolving Nepalese Kumari).

I blame it on Russell Brand, my ex.
If for no spiritual reason, look how they stand up for animals and our environment! But there are spiritual reasons relating to lives lived dedicated to meditating and awakening in a time of great lust, anger, and confusion (aka "greed, hatred, and delusion," the Three Poisons of the heart and mind in Buddhism).

It's been seven years of meditation, long enough -- according to the historical Buddha -- to attain enlightenment.
(Satipatthana Sutra/"The Four Foundations of Mindfulness Discourse")

Who is Buddha Boy?
It all began in 2005 under a tree in Nepal.
Ram Bahadur Bomjon (Sanskrit, राम बहादुर बामजान), nicknamed "Buddha Boy" (born circa April 9, 1990), is also known by the monastic names Palden Dorje and now Dharma Sangha. He was born in Ratanapuri, Nepal. He rose to fame when he drew media attention and tens of thousands of visitors by months of complete fasting and meditation. He began his meditation on May 16, 2005 until large crowds disrupted him "because there is no peace" when they started coming to see him in large numbers. He left and reappeared elsewhere in Nepal on December 26, 2006. He left again on March 8, 2007. On March 26, 2007, inspectors from the Area Police Post Nijgadh in Ratanapuri found Bomjon meditating inside an underground chamber of about 7 square feet. More

Living Goddess says, Stop eating cows!

Ascetic Hinduism is all about ahimsa
Amid the raging debate over cow slaughter and consumption of beef, a sadhvi [female-sadhu or ascetic] attending a meet of various Hindu outfits here has said those who consider eating beef as a status symbol should be hanged [in public as a negative example to others].

Beautiful, kind Sadhvi Saraswati
The remarks made by Sadhvi Saraswati here last evening triggered a sharp reaction from the Congress, which said her speech would spark communal hatred [because minority Muslims and Christians kill and eat a lot of beef] and asked the BJP-led government in Goa to lodge an FIR against her.
"I appeal to the Government of India that those people who consider eating meat of their own mother as a status symbol should be hanged," Sadhvi Saraswati from Madhya Pradesh said.

"They [those who eat beef] should be brought before the public and hanged.
