The Buddhist origins of Reiki (video)

Reiki Founder Mikao Usui
Mikao Usui (1865-1926), commonly Usui Mikao in Japanese, was the founder of Reiki, a form of spiritual energy healing used as an alternative therapy for the treatment of physical, emotional, and mental diseases.

He taught Reiki to over 2,000 people during his lifetime. Eleven of these students continued their training to reach the Shinpiden level, equivalent to the Western third degree or Master level.

Early life, family, and education
What is our energetic aura?
He was born in Taniai village (now Miyama cho), Yamagata district, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, now located near present-day Nagoya. His ancestors were the once influential Chiba clan of Hatamoto samurai.

According to the inscription on his memorial, Tsunetane Chiba, a military commander during the end of the Heian period and the start of the Kamakura period (1180-1230), was one of Usui's ancestors.

In 1551, Toshitane Chiba conquered the city Usui and thereafter all family members acquired that name.

Usui was raised as a samurai from childhood, specifically in the martial arts techniques of aiki (合氣術) or "Way of Aiki" = Aikido.
  • A Shumei member recently told us that three Japanese men all belonged to an organization called Oomoto Kyo ("Great Source"). One went on to develop Reiki, another (Morihei Ueshiba) Aikido, and a third (Mokichi Okada) Jyorei energy healing and Shumei.
  • Aikido Founder Morihei Ueshiba developed Aikido as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs. His goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attackers from injury. Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy" or as "the way of harmonious spirit." According to the founder's philosophy, the primary goal in the practice of aikido is to overcome oneself instead of cultivating violence or aggressiveness against others.
Although there are many stories extant in the United States that Usui earned a doctorate in theology at the theological seminary of the University of Chicago, he never attended, let alone received any degree from the University of Chicago.

Career and activities
There is a universal life force (chi or ki)
As an adult, it is believed that he traveled to several Western countries, including the Americas, Europe, and China as a part of his continued study.

His studies included medicine, history, Buddhism, Christianity, psychology, and Taoism.

It is believed that the aim of Usui's teachings was to provide a method for students to achieve connection with the "universal life force" energy (pranaesoteric energy, holy spirit, spiritus, animating force) that would help them in their self-development.

What sets his teachings apart from other hands-on healing methods is his use of attunement (reiju) to remind students of their spiritual connection.

It seems that all of his students received five principles to live by and those with a further interest in the teachings became dedicated students.

There does not appear to have been a distinction between clients and students in the beginning though this may have changed at some point.

People began coming to Usui Mikao possibly for different purposes -- some for healing and others for the spiritual teachings.

Shugendō is a Japanese mountain ascetic shamanism that incorporates Shinto and Buddhist practices [15].

The roles of Shugendō practitioners include offering religious services such as fortune telling, divination, channeling, prayer, ritual incantations, and exorcism.

Shugendo was often used by family clans to heal disease or avoid misfortune [11].

Claims of Reiki's Christian origins
Hawayo Takata, a Reiki Master under the tutelage of Chujiro Hayashi (林 忠次郎, 1880–1940), lied about Reiki's history of development to make Reiki more appealing to the West [16].

To this end she made a relation of Reiki with Jesus Christ and not with Buddhism.

Buddhist origins of Reiki

She also falsely presented Usui as the dean of a Christian school. While he had obtained the knowledge of Reiki from the Buddhist religious book The Tantra of the Lightning Flash, Takata claimed that he had been inspired from the story of Jesus Christ, who had healed with the touch of his hand.

So Usui, it was said, had come to America to learn Reiki. She told this to spread Reiki among Christians, too, believing it would otherwise be extinct.

However, in 1994, the original manuscript was found, which claimed that Reiki had originated from Gautama Buddha, the historical founder of Buddhism [17]. More

Rome removed 'true' Jesus to control us

The Roman Empire REMOVED the "True" Jesus to control Christians
Prof Jiang Explains(Prof Jiang Explains) June 25, 2026: Mainstream Christianity doesn't want us to know the real Jesus (Y'shua, Kristos, the Anointed One, Saint Issa, Isa).

Discovered in 1945, the [Lost] Gospel of Thomas reveals a radically different Jesus whose teachings were suppressed by the Roman-backed Catholic ["Universalist"] Church.

This ancient text exposes a profound truth: the divine spark resides within each of us, making us all "sons of the living [sky] father," directly challenging hierarchical church control.
Prof. Jiang Xuehin delves into these revolutionary teachings, drawing parallels to Plato's Allegory of the Cave and other ancient wisdom [and ancient Gnostic] traditions.

Jesus' true message wasn't about blind faith or external salvation. It was about inner knowledge, self-mastery, and the rejection of material intoxication.

The Church worships the Adversary

He saw organized religion and the pursuit of worldly power as distractions, keeping humanity from recognizing its own inherent divinity and interconnectedness.

Uncover the shocking truth behind the "official" narrative. Learn why Jesus opposed the religious authorities of his time and taught that seeking knowledge, even if it means questioning established "gods," is the path to true fulfillment and spiritual awakening.

This clip will change everything viewers thought they knew about the foundations of Christianity and our place in the universe.

Catholic Buddhist Lent: Ash Wednesday

Holy [Hindu style) ashes on Ash Wednesday
Happy Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent for most Christians. Wisdom Quarterly's Mexican Buddhist Crystal Q. is torn between celebrating abstinence, the Five Eight or Ten Precepts, Ten Commandments, and reverting to simplicity. Since ancient Indian times, ashes from the pyre have been used by wandering ascetics as a way of getting clean. (Ashes are absorbent, and when collected from a funerary pyre, they are a strong reminder of this body's mortality). Buddhist David Bowie perhaps quoted the Anglican prayer book best when he sang, "Ashes to ashes, funk to funky, we know Major Tom's a junkie" (David Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes").

The tilma of Juan Diego: Our Lady of Guadalupe

Madonna and Child? Kwan Yin
Why would a Mexican be Buddhist? One strong reason in the past was the arrival of Buddhist missionaries from Afghanistan and China before the arrival of Christianity. See American researcher Edward P. Vining and his published findings in An Inglorious Columbus: Or Evidence that Hwui Shan and a Party of Buddhist Monks from Afghanistan Discovered America in the Fifth Century, A.D.) Of course, in modern times Mexican Americans would love Buddhism for its many qualities and perhaps recognizing in the Buddhist Goddess of Compassion Guan Yin a great deal of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

So it's time for a field trip to church (Catholic mass) to see these smearing of cremation ashes across foreheads in Los Angeles. Ananda is eager to see what this is all about. CC took us to the giant Buddhist temple east of Los Angeles in the very Asian San Gabriel Valley, where we enjoyed the Aztec dancers dancing for the Chinese Mahayana Humanist Buddhist crowd. So this explosion/clash of Mexican and European church tradition ought to be a Roman spectacular.

WHAT HAPPENED?
St. Andrew's Church (Pasadena)
Pasadena, California, has many Catholics, and "church" (mass) was packed. The one we attended is beautiful inside, much more beautiful than the usual Holy Roman Empire version. It has a picture of God unlike any other Euro Catholic church building we've ever seen, a massive mural. And next to the God are beautiful devas ("angels"), drawn in gold and very colorful. The many pews were full, and there is a Spanish language service going on in the school building across the street. This church building is on the corner of Fair Oaks and the 134 Freeway, with a big belfry and clock (campanile). Inside, it's like a mausoleum of imported stone. And the attendees are a mix of Hispanics, Italians, Europeans, and a sprinkling of Blacks and Asians. Everyone is very nice and seem repentant as they line up for their pyre ashes, almost certainly incense stick remnants and coal. Wine and gluten crackers are served, if one doesn't mind mixing saliva with everyone else, but it's wiped with a white towel between sips, which is certainly sterilizing through prayer and God's power or the priest's magic. The officiant and his altar boy assistants said some nice words, encouraged people to be good and observe the Ramadan Lenten (Latin Quadragesima, "Fortieth") self-purification practices for the next month and ten days, and to do acts of abstinence, restraint, charity, and kindness, all beautiful sentiments for those who live up to the best of their religion. It is very much like the Buddhist Rains Retreat (Pali Vassa).

Meat eating during the Holy Season?

We agree: Let animals live by not eating them.
Historically, abstinence from meat was a requirement on the days of the Lenten season, including Sunday, the "Lord's Day") [20]. In Eastern Christianity -- including Eastern Orthodox, Eastern Catholics, Eastern Lutherans, and Oriental Orthodox -- Great Lent is observed continuously without interruption for 40 days starting on Clean Monday and ending on Lazarus Saturday before Holy Week [21, 6] and the big finale of the real New Year's Day, Easter, the first day of spring (time of renewal, when the "son" rises after being as dead as the winter, as explained by Astrotheology). More

In India, cremation ashes are called phool ("flowers"). They are collected from the pyre in a rite-of-passage called asthi sanchayana then dispersed. This signifies redemption of the dead in waters (like those of the "holy" Ganges or Jordan River) considered to be sacred and a closure for the living (Hinduism, Note 28).

Viking berserkers got high first?
Hollywood's Hart is Catholic?
(HP) Christianity erased the truth, but the evidence remains: Viking "berserkers" were said to fight in a trance of unstoppable fury. Some historians believe this rage may have been triggered by psychoactive plants like henbane or hallucinogenic mushrooms. Seeds found in a Viking grave in Denmark suggest these substances were known and possibly used. Christians systematically destroyed much of the old pagan knowledge. This video explores the evidence behind one of Viking history’s strangest questions. More

Native Sand Mandalas Create Portals

These are the portals that allow the Holy People to be among us.

'I' speak then 'God' speaks in silence

(The Eye of the Heart) July 22, 2025: How does God communicate with us? By silence or by ritual, by internal quiet or Lion’s Gate Portal and full moon breathwork? Here is a ritual (visualization) to activate our power on 8.8 (August 8th). Is it so much psychobabble from Holistic Transformational Coach Naomi Buff, or is there something to it?

Stillness is better than the hard work script.

Pope declares, ‘I am [Peter the] Roman!’ slams Israel, related to Beyonce?

Pope Leo’s plea: [Bibi,] open Gaza for humanity’s sake| DRM News | AK1B

ROME — [The new Black American (Creole)] Pope Leo XIV declared himself a Roman on Sunday as he completed the final ceremonial steps cementing his role as the bishop of Rome.

He speaks perfect U.S. English like no pope in history
  • [Is Pope Leo unaware of the prophecy of Saint Malachy, The Prophecy of the Popes, or is he admitting his identity as an antichrist figure, or is he shoving it in the faces of conspiracy theorists to mock them because he's actually the nicest guy anyone would ever want to meet, particularly at a ballgame in Chi Town or a Peruvian temple in the former Incan Empire?]
  • Petro, you are my Rocko; I make you 1st Papa
    COMMENTARY
: A "Peter" is a Rock (Petra), which is the foundation of the Church, which is a pope, as the first patriarch (pope) was. Perhaps to be a Peter is simply to be a Pope, so to say, "I am a Roman" is tantamount to teasing the world by saying, "I am Peter the Roman"(Petrus Romanus).
  • Who's next Pope? Trump or Peter the Roman?

I would of done a bester job then thiz Black Guy
The first American pope formally took possession of the St. John Lateran Basilica, which is Rome’s cathedral and seat of the diocese, with an evening Mass attended by Roman priests and faithful.

In his homily, Pope Leo said he wanted to listen to them “in order to learn, understand, and decide things together.” One of the many titles that Leo assumed when he was elected May 8, 2025, was "bishop of Rome."

No, Sinead, give this one a chance first!
Given his responsibilities running the 1.4-billion strong universal Catholic Church [or what remains of the Holy Roman Empire], popes [who serve as CEOs of the corporation] delegate the day-to-day governance of running of the diocese of Roman to a vicar.

Sunday’s ceremonies at the St. John Lateran and a stop at St. Mary Major basilicas follow Pope Leo’s visit last week to the St. Paul Outside the Walls Basilica.

Together with St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, the four papal basilicas are the most important basilicas in the West. [The Vatican is its own country within Italy's Rome, called the Holy See or sometimes Vatican City, a powerful city-state that owes no allegiance to Italy.]
Who rules Rome rules the world.
Rome’s Mayor Roberto Gualtieri welcomed Pope Leo first at the steps to City Hall, noting that his May 8th election fell during a Holy Year, an event occurring every 25 years to invite pilgrims to Rome.

The city underwent two years of traffic-clogging public works projects to prepare and expects to welcome upward of 30 million people in 2025. More:

Holy smoke, new pope! Roman Catholicism's new emperor is American from Chicago: Leo

I could Make Rome Great Again. I'm willing to buy the office like they used in the good old days
I approve of this Peruvian Petro to be the new Rock, the new Roman

Holy Roman Catholicism's St. Peter's Square
Pope Leo the 14th
(Robert Francis Prevost), 69, from Chicago, USA (a graduate of Villanova University), a trusted confidante of outgoing (deceased) Pope Francis. This is The New Pope.

Chi Town's nice, nicer than the Rock
Pope Leo XIV is an Augustinian cardinal who spent a great deal of time in the Americas, particularly in Peru, as a dual-citizen.

It's an unbelievable development in world history as the temporal leader (tough guy Trump) and the spiritual leader are from the same country, a rich nation that now rules the rest of the world outright instead of just militarily, financially, and hegemonically (in terms of disproportionate influence).
Pope Benedict Arnold: Why, God, why not me?
What is it about Chicago to produce the CIA-groomed dictator of Israel (Bibi Netanyahu), CIA-groomed Barry Soetoro Obama, Trump's favorite historical figure (Al "Scarface" Capone), AND now this holy man, the world's first American pope? To be sure, there are other popes (head patriarchs of various Christian churches) in the world. The only explanation given so far? "He's the least American American," which is a nice epigram. If the US is a War Machine, Pope Leo is a man of peace.

MAGA is mad at Marxist pope

That was fast. It's as if he were pre-selected.
However, this is the continuation of the Holy Roman Empire that rules the world through devotion of more than a billion adherents (1.4 billion total and 1 in 5 Americans) and untold riches stored away in public and secret investment bank accounts all over the world and booty stored in the Vatican (City) in the Holy See.

The grandeur of the Holy Roman Empire headquarters, the palace at Saint Peter's Square

Rob Prevost: a modest parish priest
The "Holy See" is its own independent country/city-state in the middle of Rome, where Mithras was for so long worshipped until being swapped out for Jewish Jesus Christ and, more importantly, his mother, Goddess Virgin Mary (Jewish Miriam).

Peter the Roman?
You forced me out too soon!
If this is "Peter the Roman," that must mean the USA is the new ROME, the new world-dominating imperial power. Prevost is Italian (ROMAN) and French, on his father's side, with a mother who's French, African, and Spanish, a dual citizen born in the U.S. but also possessing Peruvian citizenship. Peru is as happy as the U.S. about his selection.
