To save Los Angeles' elephants (sutra)

Elephants are especially social and wise animals

L.A. Zoo elephants' whereabouts a mystery amid relocation battle
(ABC7) May 21, 2025: Where are LA's elephants Billy and Tina? The Los Angeles Zoo's two remaining manacled/shackled Asian elephants appear to have been transferred in the dark while demonstrators let their guard down. abc7.com/post/activists...
  • UPDATE: The elephants have been secreted away overnight (May 21, 2025) and shipped via truck to the Tulsa Zoo rather than the animal sanctuary anti-animal-cruelty demonstrators were demanding.
  • Animals in Buddhism
  • To herald the coming birth of the Future Buddha, pregnant Queen Maya dreamed that she conceived of Prince Siddhartha when a white double tusker royal elephant entered her side: Queen Maya's Dream
  • In Buddhism, elephants get names like Parileyya and Girimekhala, usually after the woods in which they reside.
'Not another zoo': Critics want LA Zoo elephants moved to sanctuary
(TODAY) May 13, 2025: Elephants Billy and Tina, the last two Asian elephants at the Los Angeles Zoo, were set to be relocated to another animal prison at the Tulsa Zoo, but there is pushback from animal-loving demonstrators and critics online alleging, “They will suffer in an inhumane environment.” NBC’s Morgan Chesky reports for TODAY. #elephant #animals #zoo
Conscious elephants in Buddhism: The Full Moon Honey Offering Festival

Animal karma (deeds) also bear karmic results
The Honey-Offering Festival is a Buddhist religious ceremony that commemorates the service and sustenance provided by animals to the Buddha.

It was during the Buddha's tenth Rains Retreat (Vas or Vassa) in Parileyya Forest.

According to legend, during his retreat to solitude, a wild monkey brought an offering of a honeycomb to give to the Buddha to eat, as an elephant named Parileyya brought fruit and protected the Buddha from fierce animals in the forest.

The 31 Planes of Existence
When the Buddha accepted the gift of the honeycomb, the monkey became so overjoyed that he began to leap from tree to tree, and in his exuberance fell to his death due to his reckless jubilation. However, because of his generous gift, that monkey was immediately reborn on a celestial plane called the World of the Thirty-Three (Tavatimsa), the second of the six heavens in the Sensual Sphere (below many other heavens of the Fine Material Sphere and Immaterial Sphere).

Since these events are believed to have taken place on the day of the full moon, the occasion has come to be commemorated as Madhu Purnima, or “Honey Full Moon.” The festival is observed on the full moon of the tenth lunar month in Theravada Buddhist countries in South and Southeast Asia. More

Conscious elephant karma
The “Four Harmonious Friends,” Bhutan
The Commentaries (e.g., DhA.i.48ff.; iv.26 ff. UdA.250f.; see Thomas, op. cit., 117 n) say that the elephant's name was Pārileyya (also Pārileyyaka) and describe in vivid detail the manner in which the elephant looked after the Buddha, omitting nothing, even to the extent of finding hot water for his bath.

Later, when the Buddha's attendant Ananda came with many others to invite the Buddha to return to Sāvatthi, the elephant Pārileyyaka provided all of them with alms food. The Buddha agreed and returned.

But such was the attachment the elephant had formed toward the Buddha that he died of a broken heart when the Buddha left the forest.

However, as a result of all his good deeds (wholesome karma) toward these enlightened beings, he was immediately reborn as a deva (angel, offspring of the gods) in Tāvatimsa in a golden palace (vimana, mansion) said to be 30 leagues high, where he is now known as Pārileyyaka devaputta.

This elephant is also identified with the elephant in the Bhisa Jātaka (J.iv.314). Source

Most beloved JEW in Nazi Germany

Our family was more German than Jewish any day.

"Blonde Poison," Jewish collaborator hunted 1,000s of Jews and turned them in to Nazis

(World History) Beautiful Jewess Stella Goldschlag was born on July 10, 1922, in Berlin, then part of the Weimar Republic, which was the name given to the democratic German government from 1918 to 1933.

On January 30, 1933, Mr. Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany by President Paul von Hindenburg.

Shortly after, the Nazi regime began implementing a radical anti-Jewish agenda, and in April of the same year, the "Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service" was passed, dismissing Jewish professionals from government jobs.
I was beautiful. Why should I worry?
This sweeping policy marked the beginning of widespread discrimination, which affected countless Jewish families, including the poor Goldschlags.

The Second World War (WW II) started on Sept. 1, 1939, when Christian Germany invaded Catholic Poland.

Early in the war, Jew Stella Goldschlag enrolled in an art school, where she studied fashion drawing and posed nude as a model for about two years.

In her free time, she sang in a Jewish jazz band, and she briefly found happiness in the fall of 1941, when she married the band’s leader, Manfred Kübler.

Mistakes were made. We were young!
However, like all Jews, Stella Goldschlag could not escape the rising tide of Nazi anti-Semitism. By Sept. 1941, she was required to wear the Jewish "Star of David," and that same year, she was forced to work in the war industry, which temporarily spared her from deportation to a concentration prison camp, modeled on the American Indian reservation system by the USA.

Initially, Stella was assigned to the Siemens factory producing electric engines, but she was later transferred to an ammunition plant.

On Feb. 27, 1943, during a large-scale operation known as Fabrikaktion (German "Factory Action"). Stella and her mother were caught in a roundup of Jews at their factory.

The Gestapo were the forbears of the CIA
Acting quickly, they hid in a makeshift shelter and later slipped out through a back door to evade the Gestapo guards. Their escape was possible largely due to their blonde hair, which played into the Nazis’ false belief that Ashkenazi Jews were not as blonde as other Germans.

Unfortunately, Stella’s husband, Manfred, was arrested, deported to Auschwitz, and was never heard from again. After the Fabrikaktion Stella and her parents went into hiding.

Psychedelic elephants: animals get high

The drunkard said, "They're here, they're there, pink elephants [are] everywhere!"
.
Oh no, it's not just humans. Elephants and other animals SEEK out psychedelics. (Think of the magic mushroom-loving reindeer of the Arctic circle, who not only search for Amanita muscaria or Fly agaric hallucinogenic mushrooms in the snow but also lick "yellow" snow in the hopes that the reindeer responsible for the deposit found some, just as shamans filter the strong entheogenic compounds in magic mushrooms for their followers and patients). There are humans and animals in Nepal, Turkey, and the Hindu Kush region who feast on hallucinogenic "mad honey," derived from rhododendron (grayanotoxins) and other plants collected by bees.

Don't get high, Kids. Meditate to see visions.
Mushrooms, contrary to what many might think, are not plants. They are a whole different kingdom, the fungi studied by mycologists. But there are plenty of plants -- like the components of Ayahuasca of the Amazon Jungle/Rainforest, which is comprised of three plant pharmacy ingredients, strangely, not the same three -- that are entheogens. There is Syrian Rue, there are alkaloids galore in rainforests, and animals are looking:
  • Even in the Buddha's time, among the Sakas (Shakyas, Indo-Scythians), there was a "magical" entheogenic/psychedelic drug known in Vedic Sanskrit as soma (haoma in the Avestan language of the Indo-Iranians/Aryans west of ancient Jambudvipa). No one knows what exactly was in this concoction, but it seems to have included powerful local cannabiskumis, and the mysterious psychedelic known as blue lotus. Did wandering ascetics (sramanas, shamans) partake of it for divine visions or did warrior princes imbibe it for guidance and/or to go berserk in battle like Berserkers?
Hallucinogenic plants
Oh no, Dumbo, it's bad trip time! Set and setting!
Deep within the heart of Africa, a captivating spectacle unfolds — one that challenges our understanding of animal behavior and the natural world.

Elephants, the majestic titans of the savanna (grasslands), have been observed engaging in a curious ritual: seeking out and consuming plants known for their psychoactive properties.

So that's why they stink so much: detoxing
[This is in addition to elephants' penchant to visit fallen fruit that has fermented and the ground (by the natural activity of yeasts and bacteria) and gorge themselves on it until they are as drunk as skunks, if skunks could get drunk, which they can if enough fruit falls on the ground to pique their interest or if Uncle Kelly leaves his glass of the "water of life" (Gaelic fuisce, whisky) out overnight after passing out and they come searching for Seamus the Dog's food bowl for freebies.]

This behavior, both fascinating and enigmatic, raises intriguing questions about the motivations and experiences of these gentle giants.

As we delve into this phenomenon, we uncover a tapestry of ecological interactions, evolutionary adaptations, and mysterious quests for altered states of consciousness. [Wow, suddenly AI started writing this intro for MSN?] Let's read on: The Psychedelic Elephants of Africa: How Some Animals Seek Out Hallucinogenic Plants

Does Wisdom Quarterly advocate (entheogenic) drug use?
Experimentation beyond science?
Certainly not. Drugs are bad and go against the fourth of the Five Precepts incumbents on Buddhists. If any thing (drug, food, behavior) occasions heedlessness (the violating of precepts or engaging in any of the Ten Courses of Unwholesome Conduct), it should and must be avoided and abstained from. Who in their right mind would take something that destroyed all one's virtue. One often hears of people who say, "I would never [fill in the blank with any bad thing]...unless I were drunk or high." Therefore, one should not get drunk or high because to do so is to engage in harmful karma that will come back to one, and it won't matter that one was high, as when drunk drivers get imprisoned just for driving drunk even though they didn't hit anyone yet. And when they do hit someone, it will not have been "on purpose" (with intention), so how can they be held liable? They can. They are. If one murders or steals while high, it does not matter to judges, juries, or the general public that the perpetrator excuses the behavior by saying, "Yeah, but I was high." Stay sober. Praise sobriety. Study plants:
Oh, much better, trippin' on reality
Get high on life or the ecstatic meditations (jhanas), with samadhi in mind, opening the third eye (dibba cakkhu), stimulating the pineal gland in natural and nonharmful ways. Try pranayama to alter consciousness in a way that does not destroy one. There's a fine line between character-building and soul-destroying (even though "soul" is not really the best word to use as it has misleading connotations) experiences. Drugs are a kind of Russian roulette. Find a shaman, a guide, a discipline before f'ing around and finding out. Will kids find out? Don't they always? It is an explorer's function to go on a quest. So let it be a spiritual quest of mind-expanding "soul" searching that brings about the end of suffering by heightening compassion and wisdom. That's what Wisdom Quarterly is saying. Read Dr. Ammon Hillman's The Chemical Muse to see just how long this has been going on in Western culture. Then read John Allegro's banned magic mushroom text about the real meaning of Christianity. Antihero Homer Simpson is the perfect example of what not to do, besotted on the couch being programmed by TV's hypnotic influence, accomplishing nothing.

Longevity of the Buddhist-Bon Hunza people

HUNZA RIVER VALLEY, Pakistan - The mystery of the longevity of the formerly Buddhist and Bon Hunza (prior to Islamic invasion and forced conversion, leaving them as Shia Muslims). The Hunza are the people who do not age and live to be 120-140 years old.

(Unraveling the Scriptures) ✪ Members first on July 4, 2024. Ever imagine living to be 120 years old or reaching 140 while looking like a teenager? Or reaching 80 years old while looking 40 and remaining healthy? This video talks about the mystery of the Hunza people in Indo-Pakistan (formerly India before the Partition of 1947).

Tibet was a massive empire, with Lhasa as its capital, and Gilgit (Hunza) circle at left.
  • "Bon" refers to the indigenous shamanic traditions of these mountains, as practiced throughout the Tibetan Empire prior to Buddhism, at which time it melded with the esoteric teachings of Vajrayana Buddhism throughout the Himalayas.
  • American longevity expert Dr. Joel Wallach (criticialhealthnews.com) insists the biblical phrase "land of milk and honey" does not refer to dairy and bee products but rather the frothy mineral rich waters coming down from glacial mountain streams and fruit nectar from trees growing on rugged terrain.
What are the secrets, to live in peace and not kill?
The Buddhist mountain people of Hunza take cold plunges, breathe fresh air, exercise daily, play sports until 100, eat mineral-rich food from the hills and valley, eat fresh low caloric foods, and live happily in close community. This is the Hunza River below the Himalayas and Karakoram ranges (close to the tallest mountain in the world, which is likely K2 rather than Everest), where beauty is the norm, much like the Buddha (Prince Siddhartha Gautama of neighboring Bamiyan, Afghanistan, called Kapilavastu in Gandhara in ancient times).
Hunza's Buddhist past
Buddhism and, to a lesser extent Bƶn, was the primary religion in the area. The region holds several surviving Buddhist archeological sites, such as the Sacred Rock of Hunza.

Hunza Valley was central to the network of trading routes connecting Buddhist Central Asia to the subcontinent (India).

Ancient Buddhist rock carvings in Pakistan vandalized (Buddhistdoor Global)
.
Ancient rock carvings look better. Hail Allah!
It also provided protection to Buddhist missionaries and wandering ascetic monks visiting the subcontinent, and the region played a significant role in the transmission of Buddhism throughout Asia [3] (along the Silk Road from the birthplace of the Buddha in Afghanistan and the birth of Buddhism in Bihar, proto-India).

Before conquest by Islam, the majority of the region practiced Buddhism. Since then, most of the population was converted to Islam.

The region has many works of graffiti in the ancient Brahmi script written on rocks (petroglyphs), produced by Buddhist monastics as a form of worship and culture [4].

With most locals being converted to Islam, those inscriptions had been mainly left ignored, destroyed, or forgotten, but they are now being restored [5].

Esoteric Secrets of Semen Retention🪬

(Fooladi Fitness) The practice of semen retention (SR) goes far beyond the general surface level self-improvement stuff we see online.

Celibacy (brahmacharya) is a limb of Raja Yoga.
This sacred art of inner alchemy has been widely talked about in many great ancient texts by mystics [talking about the Spirit Molecule DMT or amrita, ambrosia, soma and haoma, lifeforce energy called prana, which moves as ida and pingala of kundalini, anointment or the Kristos (the "Anointed One") Gnostic version] and philosophers of the past through art and allegorical symbolism.

Anointing of Jesus (Jan van Scorel)
As we begin to decode the deeper esoteric secrets of this practice, we come to realize how truly profound this sacred secretion is when it comes to uncovering the more metaphysical secrets of this reality while on the road to self-mastery...

From bird to BEES: "Honeyland" (doc)

NEON, June 2019; Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Crystal Q. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Honeyland [official trailer] – in theaters July 26, 2019
All-natural beekeeper Hatidze lives with her ailing mother in the mountains of Macedonia (Eastern Europe, above Greece), making a living cultivating honey using ancient beekeeping traditions.

When an unruly family moves in next door, what at first seems like a balm for Hatidze's solitude becomes a source of tension as they, too, want to practice beekeeping but keep disregarding her sage advice.

This is the most-awarded film at this year's Sundance Film Festival, winning the "World Cinema Grand Jury Prize," a "Special Jury Award for Cinematography," and another "Special Jury Award for Originality."

Honeyland is an epic, a visually stunning portrait of the delicate balance between nature and humanity that has something sweet for everyone.

Sex and racism: I knew Epstein! (video)

Daily Show with Trevor Noah; Nexus; Sheldon S., Crystal Quintero (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Trevor Noah provides comic relief about Pres. Trump's alleged racism. Maybe Trump is just frustrated or instigating his backers as a strategic heckler of colored women in Congress, and maybe he's just, um, racist.

I KNEW EPSTEIN! “He tried to sleep with my fiancĆ©e the night before the wedding!!”
(Nexus, July 18, 2019) Professional honeypot blackmailer (and fake hedge fund manager) Jeffrey Epstein’s former friend tells Nexus why he turned his back on the rich, well-connected convicted sex offender who’s facing new sex crimes charges of child sex-trafficking. Nexus looks at the case against him and considers how he got off “so lightly” the previous time. (Thank you, Trump administration official Alex Acosta). What are Epstein's connections to alleged sex addict Pres. Donald Trump, Pres. Bill Clinton, PizzaGate unindicted co-conspirator Hillary Clinton, OJ attorney Alan Dershowitz, Prince Andrew... what’s going on?! And who will fall afoul of investigators going through photos and recordings recovered from Epstein's NY mansion and Virgin Island's island?
