The issue of Somalis in Minneapolis

Somali Muslim Congressperson, the Squad's Ilhan Omar
(Sammy Obeid) Minneapolis Somalis vs. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) | stand up
This Is What America Looks Like
(By Ilhan Omar) Ilhan Omar’s career is a collection of historic firsts: She is the first refugee, the first Somali American, and one of the first two Muslim women to serve in the United States Congress.

Against a xenophobic and divisive administration, she has risen to global fame as a powerful voice in the Democratic party’s new progressive chorus of congresswomen of color, The Squad.

This Is What America Looks Like is a tale of the aspirations, disappointments, successes, and surprises in the life of an immigrant and Muslim in the U.S. today.

This is Omar’s story told on her own terms: from a childhood in Mogadishu and four long years at a Kenyan refugee camp, to her arrival in America -- penniless and speaking only Somali -- and her triumphant election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

In the face of merciless slander and constant attacks from opponents in both parties, Rep. Omar continues to speak up for her beliefs. Courageous, hopeful and defiant, her memoir is marked by her irrepressible spirit, even in the darkest of times. More

We are the Irish Paddystinians

Protest in solidarity with Palestinians, Shannon airport Sept. 2024 (Emilija Jefremova/Reuters)

Irish pro-Palestine activists embrace ‘Paddystinian’ term as badge of honor
(Ireland Correspondent Rory Carroll, The Guardian, May 25, 2025)
Irish Lex (@wanderrlex,Instagram)
Believed to have originated as an insult by [Jewish Zionist] Israel supporters, neologism is now used to campaign against war in Gaza.

The term was coined to disparage Ireland’s solidarity with Palestine but has been adopted as a badge of honor that now adorns T-shirts, hoodies, pins, and social media bios: Welcome to Paddystine, home of the Paddystinians.

Irish activists have embraced the neologism as a galvanizing term to campaign against Zionist Israel’s war on Gaza and to pressure the Irish government to do more to [intervene to] end the conflict.

Kneecap dares to annoy UK Zionists
The belief that it was originally intended as an insult by Israel supporters has fueled its spread on TikTok and other platforms where Irish people proclaim themselves “Paddystinians” and also, in a repurposing of the old-fashioned female name Biddy, “Biddystinians.”

“It was being used as a negative,” Ross McGann, who has nearly 40,000 followers on TikTok, said this week. “Once I heard that I thought: ‘Nah, we can flip this around.’ It’s a very Irish thing to do – you take an insult and you flip it back.” More

Summer of Love + Road to Kathmandu (travel)

Road to Kathmandu, 1977 (full version)
(mtdd1948) June 15, 2017: India's famed Taj Mahal is an entirely Islamic architectural masterpiece created by Muslims in a land of rock-cut Buddhist marvels and countless Hindu temples? Let's take an overland "magic bus" trip from stuffy London, England, to wild Kathmandu, Nepal.

1967: The Summer of Love

(Free Documentary - History) April 19, 2024: In 1967 an expressive, colorful musical force painted a backdrop of love, social change, fashion, turmoil, and war.

Son, drop your gun and come back home to us!
The world remembers the "Summer of Love" in 1967 [which we always thought took place in '69] as one of those moments when a unique and creative explosion of rock music and popular culture arrived in the UK and US.

This documentary is driven by the soundtrack of the time, which kept the imperial American troops company as they massacred millions of Buddhists in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, powered the American Anti-War and Civil Rights movements, which opened the hearts and minds of Baby Boomers who had matured into hope-filled teens.

This special celebrates 1967 as a famous year full of music and change.  “Stick a flower in your hair [or a soldier's rifle at Kent State] and remember that you are Us not Them.”

Holy Ramadan, month of Fasts/Feasts

Beauty bound in a burka? Free in hijab (dreamstime.com)

Hey, don't you mean FASTING? Yes, but David Wood (below) assures us it's actually FEASTING that will be happening all of this Muslim-month, with lots of sleep and deluded back-patting of how "pious" and "holy" we're being in observance of sacred traditions.

The many benefits of fasting
The same happens in Buddhism, where monastics observe a daily "fast" (not eating after noon or before dawn) but may overeat the rest of the time, often developing diabetes, cholesterol problems, and all kinds of diseases of modernity as a consequence. Saudi Arabia has many people suffering from overeating, not starvation, during the Ramadan "fast."

It seems even more ridiculous in Holy Roman Catholicism, at least the American version, where asking good Catholics to "fast" -- abstain from eating dead animals in the form of "meat" -- was just too much to ask. Forty days without dead fish? How is McDonald's supposed to make money? (Are fish animals? We thought they were).

Eat all the seed-bearing plants and fruit in the world, which the good God hath made: Genesis 1:29 quotes the God as saying, "Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food. But that's not good enough. We need to kill animals, or pay people to kill them for us, even during Lent, a 40-day period of abstaining and austerity, abandoning all kinds of bad habits. Does Protestantism advocate fasting? Sort of.

Bhagavan Bhakthi (Hinduism devotion)
Maha Shivratri
– celebrated in February/March, the Great Honoring of the Trinity Component God Shiva is a solemn Hindu festival that occurs towards the end of winter, before the spring. It is marked with rituals such as fasting (vrata) and meditation (dhฤraแน‡ฤ and dhyana). The holiday occurs on the last night of the waning moon in the Hindu month of Phalguna or Magha. What do Hindus consider "fasting"? Six important fasts or vrats Hindus should keep and why
  • Fast fast (take nothing but air)
  • Water fast (just drink lots of water)
  • Juice fast (just take fresh juices, but be careful of the natural sugar content separated from its healthy fiber)
  • Fast all day (24 hours)
  • Fast part of the day (from 12 noon to about 6:00 am)
  • Fast all night (like when sleeping, avoiding after dinner snacks)
  • Fast part of the night (like during Ramadan, after the giant feast dinner, staying up all night to digest before ruining that digestion with a big breakfast, before the recovery-sleep done all of the rest of the day)
  • Food? Give it a rest and clean house, as fasting allows the body to clean itself like a self-cleaning oven, the energy-consuming organs of digestion.
  • All forms of fasting are good for the body, if undertaken correctly. It may seem scary because we overeat and are sugar addicts with diabetes, prediabetes, and all sorts of metabolic syndrome conditions, which fasting would eventually clear
  • Who's healthier and more alive than someone trapped for a time without food, finding all the senses heightened and fully alert?
Ramazan begins with crescent moon, how official start time can still vary around the world
(WION) Ramazan (aka Ramadan), the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is one of the holiest periods for Muslims around the world. In 2025, the world's Muslim community anticipates a rare alignment in the moon sighting for the beginning of Ramadan. Watch to know more. #Eid #Ramadan #worldnews

Fasting, the Islamic way: FEASTing

The REAL Ramadan rules we never knew existed
(Acts 17 Polemics#Ramadan is typically described as a month-long "fast" (period of not eating). Yet, the entire month is filled with "feasting" (periods of eating).

Indeed, binge eating during Ramadan is causing a health crisis in Muslim countries. So why is gluttony and excess portrayed as strict discipline and self-control in Islam?

Is there a spiritual component to Ramadan? Christian critic David Wood explores the issue and uncovers the disturbing truth about Islam's holiest month.

All hail the Great Muhammad ๐Ÿ•‹☪๐Ÿ•Œ

Great Muhammad Ali: all the knockouts

.
(Show Me Boxing) American Muhammad Ali is one of the most talented boxers in the history of professional pugilism. His career was full of momentous events, which included a rapid rise and a deafening fall. He was not as spectacular a knockout artist as Mike "Ear Eater" Tyson, but he put a lot of tough guys on the floor of the ring during his career.

Ali making move on shy Pres. Jimmy Carter
Because Ali's career consists of almost only victories, there are a lot of knockouts among them as well. This video collects all of Muhammad Ali's knockouts, from the very first to the most recent. So sit back and watch it all to make light of capitalist-fueled violence that deadens the public and primes them for war ("Might makes right") almost as much as military American football (a kind of more violent futbol or British soccer using a dead animal as a corpse puck, Afghan Polo style from the game buzkashi.

At the same time, think about which bloodsport knockout in Ali's career was the coolest and led to the most killing and brutality by imperial soldiers in Vietnam and elsewhere and paramilitary troopers on the nation's streets who beat Blacks and others like a sport emulating the professional boxing matches they were so fond of watching and modeling. #MohammadAli #knockouts #boxing

'Christspiracy' screening: see it now

  • Christspiracy is life-changing and mind altering! Wow, religion is both the best thing (as it was originally) and the worst thing (what greedy people have made of it): christspiracy.com
Christspiracy | movie (plantbasednews.org)
How would Jesus kill and butcher an animal, anal electrocution? Would he smite it, cut its neck with a blood-soaked knife as it gurgled and tried to scream? Use a stun gun first? Have a rabbi next to him to make sure the lamb baby he led to slaughter was killed all "kosher" like? (No, of course Jesus/Issa wouldn't do that kind of stuff! He was an ethical vegetarian. Hell-bound humans do that kind of stuff...and was it the greedy, fearful, deluded priests who led them to do it?)
Slaughterhouse (Lovis Corinth Im Schlachthaus)
Los Angeles Animal Save and Animal Alliance Network are holding a screening of the amazing breakthrough fill Christspiracy -- exposing the biggest coverup in 2,000 years of history. Joaquin Phoenix says it "exposes unforgiving truths."

What if the reason the world eats so much slaughtered meat (hundreds of billions of animals murdered a year) is the priests?

The Western spiritual tradition is founded on the qualities of kindness and compassion towards animals it ignores. Buddhists were not spared this madness: Most Buddhists today think it's okay to eat an animal that was not killed for them in specific (just in general, dead there in the market to and retroactively killed for them when they pay the butcher for having slaughtered and butchered it).

We love to kill, sacrifice, for our Lord.
Its titular head was all-kind, a-forgiving, and called on his followers to do the same. But the priests got greedy, from Judaism to Christian, ancient Greek paganism to ancient Hinduism, it was far more profitable to have people donate sacrificial animals to them, which they slaughtered (kosher, pareve, halal, etc.) in some "spiritual" way then sell them back to followers for feasts. Their gods demanded animal sacrifice. They made it holy and completely fine, as if unfeeling animals were fine to kill, like mowing down insentient blades of grass.

Even the grass is sentient. How much more the conscious, communicative animals all around us?
Please join LA Animal Save, Animal Alliance Network, and Plant Based Treaty for a FREE screening of CHRISTSPIRACY with Co-Director Kameron Waters at Au Lac Plant-based Restaurant on Sunday, Dec. 8th. Doors open at 5:00 pm. Film starts at 5:30 pm. Seating is first-come, first-served. Order delicious food and beverages from the menu. Bring friends! More: facebook.com...1236145564104756

So the God (Allah) lives in a cube, a black box?
Imagine a Black Cube so sacred that Jews wear it (tefillin) on their heads during ritual prayers, Muslims risk life and limb on pilgrimages to Mecca from around the Islamic world, one of the three world religions. What is in Mecca that is so precious and important? It is this cube or Kaaba/Kasbah in Arabia (which does not belong to the royal Saudi family but which the US is fond of referring to as "Saudi Arabia," which is like calling the U.S. Obama-America) covered in six million dollars' worth of gold and cloth, made of marble with a key belonging to one family to a sacred enclosure or tabernacle. The Orthodox Christians of Ethiopia (part of ancient Kush, Nubia, North Africa) have their Ark of the Covenant hidden somewhere, possibly at a known church protected by a few priests with lifelong commitments to protect it. The Jews have their temple with its inner sanctum or holy of holies with nothing but an altar where the Ark of the Covenant (an ET device protected by an electrical charge said to be God's thunderbolt ready to strike anyone with a static charge if they get too close and offend the Lord) allegedly used to be kept.
