Life in a white cell: 'La Valigia'

LA VALIGIA || stop motion short film
Life in Hell (Matt Groening)
(Studio Croma AnimationBOLOGNA. An old man is sitting on the edge of a bed in a bare room with stoned walls, his face furrowed with deep wrinkles and his unkempt beard, gnarled hands still full of life, curved shoulders: he is alone and thoughtful. A small and ramshackle window with bars is the only outlet to the outside.

In front of him he has a mysterious suitcase. Opening it the man finds himself in his hands the photographs and the personal effects of a whole life. Thus begins the sequence of memories and visions, synapses of the mind that come to life and invade the room of the elderly bringing him back in time, first adult then boy, finally child.

Quantum computer chip breakthrough

Amazon’s quantum breakthrough that everyone missed
(Sabine Hossenfelder) While Microsoft’s Majorana quantum computing chip might have grabbed all the headlines earlier this year, Amazon appears to have quietly made some big progress in the quantum computing race. Their new Ocelot chip uses cat qubits to support a scalable architecture that reduces errors by up to 90%. What does that mean? Let’s take a look.

PUNK: Dead Kennedys: 'Life Sentence'?

For this ditty, singer-lyricist Jello Biafra fronts the classic San Francisco punk rock ensemble the Dead Kennedys (DKs), talking about our lives and the way we sell out to The Man (school, work, bank, not literal jails just figurative ones) without realizing it.

LYRICS: "Life Sentence"
Used to be a partner-in-crime
Now you say you ain't got the time
Gotta get serious, gotta plan
Gotta pass those entrance exams!

Oh my gosh, it's your senior year
All you care about is your career

[CHORUS]
It's your life sentence, life sentence
Life sentence, life sentence

You're squelching your emotions
All you talk about is those times
You don't do what you want to
But you do the same thing every day!

No sense of humor
But such good manners
Now you're an adult
You're boring!

[Chorus]

The walls (ah ah) are closing in
You stayed (ay ay) too long in school

I'd rather stay a child and keep my self-respect
If being an adult means being like you

Ah, ah
Are you really you, you, you?
You, you, you
You, you, you
Are you really you? No!

You're a chained-up dog fenced in a yard
Don't say much, you can't go far
Pace and forth, you're getting sick
Run too fast, it'll snap your neck!

Say you'll break out, you never do
You're just another ant in the hill

[Chorus]

Mecca's Kaaba a Hindu Shiva lingam?

Are Jews in fact worshiping exact same tribal god as Muslims, an ET being in a black cube?

So the God (Allah) lives in a cube, a black box?
Imagine a Black Cube so sacred that Jews wear it (tefillin) on their heads during ritual prayers, Muslims risk life and limb on pilgrimages to Mecca from around the Islamic world, one of the three world religions. What is in Mecca that is so precious and important? It is this cube or Kaaba/Kasbah in Arabia (which does not belong to the royal Saudi family but which the US is fond of referring to as "Saudi Arabia," which is like calling the U.S. Obama-America) covered in six million dollars' worth of gold and cloth, made of marble with a key belonging to one family to a sacred enclosure or tabernacle. The Orthodox Christians of Ethiopia (part of ancient Kush, Nubia, North Africa) have their Ark of the Covenant hidden somewhere, possibly at a known church protected by a few priests with lifelong commitments to protect it. The Jews have their temple with its inner sanctum or holy of holies with nothing but an altar where the Ark of the Covenant (an ET device protected by an electrical charge said to be God's thunderbolt ready to strike anyone with a static charge if they get too close and offend the Lord) allegedly used to be kept.

Cubed: A Secret History of the Workplace

Pat Macpherson, CC Liu, Wisdom Quarterly; Rosecrans Baldwin (npr.org); Nikil Saval
What are you doing? - I'm just happy to see you. - I can tell. You're outta here because you're nothing more than a third cousin to a chimp, Macpherson. Soundly Coldhotcar said so!*
Hell hath many names... Hades, Gehenna, Niraya, and can be very ironic in Buddhism.

So long, palace, riches, and power!
Man was not meant to waste away in quiet desperation in a cubicle. Woman, maybe. Probably not either. That is what "work" in the West has become. We have been cubed.

To think I, like Siddhartha, could cut the cord and go. Go on a quest. Become a truthseeker. But my boss is calling, and she doesn't like to be kept waiting no matter what I'm doing.

Hello, severe austerities and peace.
"Macpherson, what are you doing?!" Thinking 'bout bananas? "Here's a notepad; take some dictation!"

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." Uh-oh. This is going to be a long one. Good thing NPR/SCPR never stops whispering in the background. Author Nikil Saval proves it wasn't always like this. There was a time when a person could earn a right livelihood doing something more than shuffling papers from the in-box to the out-box before the clock on the wall lets us go for the day.

NPR is not good for dogs, but humans like it where Free Speech Radio is not available.

Cubed
Cubed (Nikil Saval)
I was fresh out of college, working at a Web design company. The office had an open layout. We all shared long tables. I did have a window that looked onto a stone wall. Otherwise, I was given a computer, a drawer, and a fancy ergonomic chair.

Then, about a month into the job, my hands completely froze over the keyboard. I couldn't move my fingers for half a minute, in the grip of my very first panic attack. I'd wonder later, was I simply not cut out for office work? Or was office work not cut out for anybody at all:
Soundly Coldhotcar (Sonali Kohlhatkar) with Dr. Jared Diamond

*(Uprising Radio) In The Third Chimpanzee (newly reissued for young adults in April 2014), Pulitzer Prize-winning author and UCLA researcher Jared Diamond (famous for Guns, Germs, and Steel) explores how humans fit among other animal species and also what sets us apart. He explains how we have evolved in our behaviors to perpetuate our genes into future generations, how and why we developed language, culture, art, and what the future holds for the human race given our evolutionary past.

Ramadan, War, and the Mythology of Saturn

Wisdom Quarterly
If people love each other, why can't leaders get along? (avsastesi.com)

Muslims in America and Ramadan 2011
(TWS, August 3, 2011)
Misunderstanding Islam continues. For Muslims in America, Ramadan 2011 brings an opportunity to reach out to fellow Americans. Muslims across the world started the holy month of Ramadan on August 1 with fasting. American Muslims are no different. But Keith Ellison, a member of the House of Representatives from Minnesota, claims that Islam is still much misunderstood in the country. More

On a much deeper level, what are Mecca and the Black Cube at its center really about?

Mecca is the center of the Islamic world. But the treatment of the central edifice is an ancient Vedic ritual, more characteristic of Hinduism, honoring Saturn a planet or an anthropomorphic representation of that heavenly body (or, more likely, a visitor therefrom). Who is the god of this world? Judging by our behavior for millenia.

The powers that be (Pentagon, CIA, banking elites, and similar movers and shakers) want a Holy War. The sides? The "good" Judeo-Christian US wages endless war against "evil" Islam (Persian post-Zoroastrian asura-worship). It may be mythology and a fundamentalist interpretation of the Christian Bible, but it is motivating very serious decisions to destroy people on the basis of religion. The military-industrial complex operates as if it is true, growing rich while impoverishing everyone else.

How and Why the World worships Saturn
Theforceiswithinyou.com
[We may] not know it, but the entire world has been worshiping Saturn for thousands of years. The cult has never stopped, and its rites are still present to this day. Saturn, dubbed the “Lord of the Rings,” is the reason why we exchange rings at weddings or put halos on the heads of godly people.

Semitic civilizations referred to the god Saturn as “El.” The supreme deity was represented by a black cube. We can find instances of the cube across the world.

The gods of ELohim are angELs, the messengers of god.

When witches cast a speEL, they put the “Hex” (6) on someone, and when chefs deep fry something, they “Deep 6” it. It is the ELites who run the world today. Elite comes from the “IsraElites” which came from the Egyptian worship of the Moon (Isis), the Sun, (Ra), and Saturn (Elohim), hence IsRaEl.

Jews and Muslims alike worship a huge black cube/box called Kabba at Mecca. Their god YHWH is known as the “Tetragramaton” meaning their 4 letter (4 sided?) God. The “Kabballah” of Jewish mysticism/Masonry comes from KabbaAllah or “CubeGod” around which people gather and ceremonially walk in circles. More (see cube photos and video)

Connection older than Hinduism and Judaism
Walking in circles, called circumambulation, is an appeasing mark of respect. It is explicitly called for in Hindu and pre-Hindu ceremonies. ("Hinduism" only began when Adi Shankara systematized disparate views and schools of thought prevalent in India around 800 CE). Interestingly, as part of the Hajj, or annual pilgrimage to Mecca, pilgrims throw stones at the Devil as if to keep bad luck away.

Hindus are under fear of evil and ill-effect from his planet Saturn. In Vedic astrology, the planetary position at the time of birth determines the future of a person. So Hindus accord immense importance to the planets, and Saturn or "Shani" is one such planet.

The "return of Saturn" as Gwen Stefani sang about might be something to fear more than to celebrate. Of course, making the best of it is always best. There's no bad that cannot lead to some good as well.
What does worldwide Mythology teach us?
The Nine Realms of Nordic mythology -- as one learns in the movie "Thor" or from deep study of Viking lore -- are space worlds corresponding to the nine planets of our solar system. (There is or was a tenth "planet," Nirbiru, but that's another matter). The "gods" (devas) hailing from these worlds came to Earth to help or conquer, pillage or lift up. This left Earthlings with very different feeling about various deities, their days, and their "stars" (planets).
Thor (Sakka, Indra) got Thursday, Saturn Saturday, and so on. This is the collective spiritual inheritance of the world, but it only remains in mythological form. We are pressed to believe it is only fantastic or symbolic. It was once very literal, and as ELenin approaches (see video below) and the "gods" (powerful extraterrestrials revered like gods) return, all will be revealed. Meanwhile, the harmful titans (called asuras in Buddhism) and reptilians (nagas) have been here a long time preparing to resist. [It's not clear where an ape-like race of forest dwellers stand.] Humans are caught in the middle, with many taking the wrong side.

Why is it called ELenin?

Work as Therapy: Cubicle as Couch

The author of "Listening to Prozac" on how we work it out at work
WSJ.com
In his role as therapist, a psy-chiatrist sometimes offers an astringent form of reassur-ance. It goes, “No, you’re not crazy; things are as bad as you imagine.” Addressing anyone entering the job market today, I would acknowledge the obvi-ous: conditions are bleak.... We rely on good jobs for our sense of well-being. Today, young people are routed into employment that has scant relationship to their aspirations. The losses of pay and opportunity are serious, but my concern goes beyond work as a source of income or even of achievement to work as it shapes our identity. Who we are in our solitary moments and in our close relationships is a product of who we are on the job. Increasingly, it’s the workplace, as much as the home, that provides lessons about how to face personal challenges. More>>
