Jimmy Dore Show: Israel, medicine, vax

Making the Cut: How to Heal Modern Medicine
Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, M.D.
Author Dr. Aaron Kheriaty has 4.6 out of 5 stars (with 28 reviews). There is a cure for medicine’s ills, but it’s going to hurt. Effective treatment, as every doctor knows, begins with accurate diagnosis.

Making the Cut is about what’s going on in the house of medicine. Medicine got sick.
  • One in three people now distrust the healthcare system.
  • Following the pandemic, two-thirds of Americans doubt medical scientists will act in the best interest of the public.
  • We are grappling with an epidemic of chronic illness—heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, stroke, and chronic lung and kidney disease—affecting six in ten Americans, which medicine seems powerless to fix.
The overall life expectancy of Americans has declined for the first time since the Great Depression. Not only are trust levels tanking,
  • the number of doctors is dropping dramatically.
  • Physicians are quitting in droves.
  • One in five doctors will leave medicine in the next two years.
  • One in three will reduce their hours.
A doctor, we assume, wounds in order to heal. “You’re going to feel a sharp pain!” she says, before making the cut. Today, though, all too often the doctor wounds without healing. Why?

In Making the Cut, Dr. Kheriaty, one of the country's leading public intellectuals and preeminent bioethicists, reveals what medicine gave him—and what it sometimes took from him.

This book is about how he grew from an overconfident pre-med to an ambivalent medical student to a capable physician who had fallen in love with medicine—even if his lover has turned into a prostitute of late.

While presenting a damning diagnosis of contemporary medicine, Making the Cut also applies the wounding scalpel in order to heal it. More

'Dementia Don' Trump's serious decline

This is what proves Trump’s dementia: Psychologist | The Daily Beast Podcast
(The Daily Beast) Sept. 20, 2025: The Daily Beast Podcast. Dr. John Gartner, former Johns Hopkins professor and co-host of the podcast Shrinking Trump, joins the Daily Beast’s Joanna Coles to deliver a chilling diagnosis: Pres. Donald Trump is showing signs of dementia layered on top of malignant narcissism.

Drawing on decades of clinical expertise, Dr. Gartner explains how Trump’s
  • declining language,
  • erratic gait, and
  • disturbing anecdotes
Trump was too busy that day being forgetful
point to brain deterioration that makes him not just unpredictable but uniquely dangerous in office.

Coles presses the doctor on how Trump’s narcissism compares to King Charles’ public persona, whether his cabinet and family are retreating from his volatility, and what it means when a leader with nuclear codes also displays symptoms of mini-strokes and confabulation.

From Hitler’s psychology to Bill Clinton’s benign narcissism, this episode explores how power amplifies paranoia, cruelty, and decay—and asks the starkest question of all:

As Trump weakens physically and mentally while tightening his grip on authority, how far can Trumpism go before it breaks America?

'Sure, I'll Join Your Cult' (Maria Bamford)

  • Get to know Maria Bamford in nine jokes about beauty standards in L.A., having a workplace nemesis and going to therapy as a child.
Sure, I'll Join Your Cult: A Memoir of Mental Illness and the Quest to Belong Anywhere

Sure, I'll Join Your Cult (Audible Audiobook)
Unabridged. Stand-up comedian and author Maria Bamford narrates her Simon & Schuster publication, which has garnered 4.4 out of 5 stars with 994 ratings. It is a Goodreads Choice Award nominee.

From “weird, scary, ingenious” (The New York Times) stand-up comedian Maria Bamford, an instant New York Times bestselling, brutally honest, and “laugh-out-loud funny” (Jennette McCurdy, #1 New York Times bestselling author) memoir about show business, mental health, and the comfort of rigid belief systems — from Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, to Richard Simmons, to 12-step programs.

This is Not Happening: Psych Ward

Maria Bamford is a comedian’s comedian (an outsider among outsiders) and has always fought to find a place to belong. From struggling with an eating disorder as a child of the 1980s, to navigating a career in the arts (and medical debt and psychiatric institutionalization), she has tried just about every method possible to not only be a part of the world, but to want to be a part of it.

I'd have to be crazy to be a conservative.
In Bamford’s “trademark blend of disarming intimacy and dark whimsy” (Publishers Weekly), Sure, I’ll Join Your Cult brings us on a quest to participate in something. With sincerity and transparency, she recounts every anonymous fellowship she has joined (including but not limited to: Debtors Anonymous, Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous, and Overeaters Anonymous), every hypomanic episode (from worrying about selling out under capitalism to enforcing union rules on her Netflix TV show set to protect her health), and every easy 1-to-3-step recipe for fudge in between.

(Let's get inside the artist's head) Maria Bamford on cults

Packed with “Bamford’s brilliance, relentless humor, and insatiable instinct for survival (Library Journal), this memoir explores what it means to keep going, and to be a member of society (or any group she’s invited to) despite not being very good at it.

In turn, she hopes to transform isolating experiences into comedy that will make you feel less alone (without turning into a cult following). NOTE: Purchase of this title includes accompanying PDF in your Audible Library along with the audio. Sure, I'll Join Your Cult

JnJ sells nasal ketamine for depression

What is the worst source of info on drugs? - Big Pharma press releases on their own product.
.
SPRAVATO® (esketamine) approved in the US as the first and only monotherapy for adults with treatment-resistant depression
Special K (ketamine) is called a psychedelic.
[Matthew "Chandler" Perry would love it, wouldn't he?] Following U.S. FDA Priority Review, approval is based on data demonstrating SPRAVATO® alone met its primary endpoint at 4 weeks and led to rapid and superior improvement in depressive symptoms compared to placebo as early as 24 hours [1].

SPRAVATO® alone showed a rapid and superior improvement vs. placebo in the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) total score, with numerical improvements across all 10 MADRS items seen at day 28 in a post-hoc analysis [2].
Monotherapy data adds to well-established clinical efficacy and real-world safety profile

TITUSVILLE, New Jersey, Jan. 21, 2025 – Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) announced today the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of a supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray, making this innovative treatment the first and only monotherapy for adults living with major depressive disorder (MDD) who have had an inadequate response to at least two oral antidepressants.

MDD is one of the most common psychiatric disorders, with an estimated 21 million adults in the U.S. living with the disease. About one-third of adults will not respond to oral antidepressants alone, which has a significant negative impact on the quality of life of those affected. MDD has a high economic burden, with nearly half of it attributable to treatment-resistant depression (TRD) [3,4,5]. More

Happiness Poison — and the Antidote (video)

Dr. Waldinger, Big Think, March 15, 2024; Amber Larson, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Happiness Poison — and the Antidote | Dr. Robert Waldinger
(Big Think) Harvard University has conducted an 85-year-long study on what makes humans happy.

Zen, is it Zen? It's Zen Buddhism, isn't it? - No.
[Was it money, tripping on acid, alcohol, fighting, heroin addiction, lots of sex, smoking weed, drinking lots of water, money, oh I bet it's money, shiploads of money, a job that pays a lot, cars, houses, oh I bet it's lots of real estate, tenants that pay a lot, political office, hot yoga, cold plunges, talk therapy, it's not talk therapy is it, ayahuasca retreats,  getting into the Olympics, Math Olympics, winning chess tournaments, achievements of all kinds, overcoming adversity, martial arts, is it breathing, just being alive, having a disease then not having it, eating vegan, watching videos on YouTube, no TikTok, being addicted to a cellphone, meditating alone in a jungle under a fruit tree until the dawn of wisdom?]

Harvard professor's six-step guide to Zen

Psychiatrist [Zen Master Roshi] Robert Waldinger, MD, explains what Harvard found by asking, ► What is the one thing that, according to science, will make our lives richer and vastly more fulfilling? [Meditation, is it meditation?]

This 85-year continuing longitudinal study from Harvard says the answer is relationships. Dr. Waldinger is the current director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest-running research on adult life.

Tracking over 2,000 lives since 1938, Waldinger and his team have dissected the fabric of well-being, finding that wealth and achievements fall short compared to the power of our connections with other people.

Over the eight decades since the study began, scientists have determined that loneliness and isolation can have negative effects on our mental, emotional, and even physical well-being.

Key findings of this study suggest that nurturing relationships may serve as our best source of fulfillment, emphasizing the need for "social fitness" alongside mental and physical health.

According to Doc Waldinger, it’s time to invest in the bonds that matter which, ultimately, is an investment in ourselves.

ABOUT: Dr. Robert Waldinger, MD, is a clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, a practicing psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and a Zen Buddhist teacher and practitioner. For the last two decades, Waldinger has been the director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development. This study, conducted over more than 85 years, has analyzed the entire lives of 724 families to determine the activities, behaviors, and dynamics that enhance a person’s life-long well-being. Dr. Waldinger has dedicated his career to examining these elements and discovering what brings true fulfillment to human existence. He is the author of several books, including his most recent, The Good Life: Lessons from the World’s Longest Scientific Study of Happiness.

Neuroscientists come up with new brain map

Pandora Dewan, Newsweek, 2/26/24; Dhr. Seven, Pat Macpherson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Buddha's Brain (Rick Hanson)
A comprehensive map of the brain's "dysfunctome" — the regions that become dysfunctional during various neurological conditions — has been created by neuroscientists for the first time.

The research offers hope for millions of patients, paving the way toward more tailored treatments based on specific dysfunctionality in certain areas of the brain.

Dysfunctionality in key brain areas can result in a range of debilitating conditions, including
  • Parkinson's disease [which is just due to the loss of myelin sheath of the nervous system, which is easily revered by Dr. Joel Wallach at criticalhealthnews.com, even in serious and advanced cases like famous Michael J. Fox if only he knew],
  • obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD),
  • dystonia (a movement disorder where the muscles contract involuntarily), and
  • Tourette's syndrome [like Billie Pirate Eilish suffers from].
Pictures are a poor way of looking for subtleties.
These disorders have a broad spectrum of different symptoms, from information processing and mood disorders to motor deficits.

But the one thing they all have in common is an underlying malfunction in brain circuitry.

Deep brain stimulation — that is, delivering an electric current directly to specific areas of the brain using small electrodes — can target these brain circuits and has been shown to alleviate symptoms for various conditions.

The brain is here, but the "mind" is elsewhere.
[Cary Harrison, whose radio show on KPFK Pacifica Los Angeles, says one cure for depression is an uncomfortable tapping using strong magnets in a repeated series of sessions over a few weeks, which has been shown to work on recovering soldiers, like a guest he had on talking about his remarkable success with this method when nothing else worked.]
What does Buddhism know about neurology?
However, this treatment method is not always successful, and even small discrepancies in electrode placement can significantly dampen its efficacy.

Also, it is not always clear which brain circuits need to be stimulated to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • [In any case, there's lots of hope for the future of mental conditions because MAPS and other organization are completing successful trials of psychedelics (DMT/the spirit molecule, Ecstasy/MDMA, psilocybin/magic mushrooms, ketamine/Special K, LSD/acid, and other substances that are having a remarkable effect on many mood disorders and even autism. California closer to legalizing psychedelics

ABC7, Sept. 7, 2023; GrahamHancock.com; Pat Macpherson, Dhr. Seven, Wisdom Quarterly
Then for a moment all the world made sense, and everything was just as it should be.

Psychedelics one step closer to being decriminalized in California
Newsom: I'll sign the bill for SF City to get well.
(ABC7) Various illegal psychedelics (with the potential to be healing entheogens) just got one step closer to being decriminalized in California. MAPS will be very pleased, so scientific research can move on apace.

The California State Assembly voted to legalize substances such as DMT (the "Spirit Molecule" in ayahuasca and Syrian rue, made famous in the biblical "Burning Bush" story), acid (LSD), sacred cactus (peyote, San Pedro), and "magic mushrooms" (psilocybin).
New frontier or ancient human practice?

Were psychedelics [entheogens] used in the ancient world? Here’s the four-minute answer researcher Graham Hancock gave to that question when he was interviewed at the Glastonbury Festival (which explains the background music) in June of 2016.

The topics covered in this video are explored at length in his 2005 book Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind.

Women need psychedelics more than men?
Jennifer Chesak (grahamhancock.com)

Author Jennifer Chesak
Fun fact: Women report more frequent use of some psychedelics than men.

A not-so-fun fact: In the Global Drug Survey 2020 [1], women cite depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as their main reasons for using psychedelics.

Additional reasons include other mental health disorders, grief, distress over medical conditions, and chronic pain.

The truth is that more women report self-treating with some psychedelics than men, whereas men (not all) tend to use psychedelics for recreational purposes.

None of this surprises me. And it’s why I wrote the Psilocybin Handbook for Women: How Magic Mushrooms, Psychedelic Therapy, and Microdosing Can Benefit Your Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Health.

I wanted to provide accurate info about psilocybin (more commonly known as magic mushrooms) and its intersection with women’s health — because our bodies are not the same, nor are our lived experiences. The following content includes excerpted material from the book. More

Dr. Grossman destroys gender ideology in 5

Dr. Miriam Grossman; Sheldon S., Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Many Ukrainians hate the LGBTQIA+ movement and some go to extremes to show it.

Dr. Miriam Grossman, MD, destroys gender ideology in 5 minutes
(TFP Student ActionAug. 10, 2023: Dr. Miriam Grossman, MD, delivers a dose of truth regarding so-called "gender-affirming care" during a recent U.S. House Committee hearing.

She speaks clearly as a medical professional, debunking the notion that sex is "assigned at birth" when it is determined at conception and revealed at birth.

Lost in Trans Nation
Dr. Grossman is a board-certified psychiatrist treating children, adolescents, and adults.

The author of five books, she has been translated into 11 languages. Lost in Trans Nation: A Child Psychiatrist's Guide Out of the Madness [many summaries and workbooks] is her most recent book, which explains the widespread devastation caused by transgenderism.

Her medical practice focuses on gender-distressed young people and their parents. She believes that every child is born in the right body.

Dr. Grossman has been vocal about the capture of her profession by ideologues, leading to dangerous and experimental treatments on children and the betrayal of parents.

She has testified in Congress and lectured at the British House of Lords and the United Nations.

TFP Student Action invites every American of goodwill to spread the truth on this controversial topic, with peaceful charity and clarity. For indeed, we are made male and female.
Matt Walshe shuts down Q&A participant for castrating children.

Proof some professors/lawyers are deceptive [blank] holes. Josh Hawley called "transphobic" by Berkeley law professor in her ridiculous and illogical attempt to shut down free speech.

Misgendering someone is "an act of violence"?

Dave Chappelle on canceling JK "TERF" Rowling

What assumptions will people make for pronouns?

COMMENT'S REPLY (8/27/23): There is no direct connection, of course, but as Dr. Grossman is "destroying" GI, according to TFP, so are the Ukrainian Nazis, while we are led to imagine that it's the Russians who are regressive, oppressive, and invasive. There is a whole other view of the cause of the CIA/USA's proxy-war and our allies in the battle for NATO's regional domination of Russian territory. Too many peace-loving liberals, who champion gender ideology, have gone mad in support of war while objecting to the slightest verbal infraction when it comes to pronouns. The combination of these elements merely illustrates this contradiction writ large.

Our traumas explain our coping mechanisms

Psych2Go, Aug. 21, 2022; Seth Auberon, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

How our trauma explains our coping mechanisms
(Psych2Go) When we've experienced trauma, the way we interact with the world and others can be shaped by the traumatic experiences we may have. Being aware of how each of these trauma affects us can help us navigate our relationships, life, and also personal success.

This video covers examples like how being abandoned might make us feel more emotionally avoidant and distrustful of relationships. Another example may be being abused or exploited making us less likely to trust others.

Psychiatrist becomes Psychedelic Researcher

Dr. Julie Holland, MD; Pat Macpherson, Ananda (DBM), Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

What the H is wrong with me! What's the cure?
A psychiatrist becomes a psychedelic researcher to explore the science of "connection" — why we need it, how we’ve lost it, and how we might find it again.

We are suffering from an epidemic of disconnection that antidepressants (Zoloft, Prozac, Wellbutrin, SSRIs, and other allopathic toxins) and social media can’t fix.

Good Chemistry (Dr. Holland)
This state of isolation puts us in “fight or flight, freeze or faint mode,” deranging sleep, metabolism, and libido.

What’s worse, we’re paranoid of others! This kill-or-be-killed mentality is no way to live. But when we feel safe and loved, we can rest, digest, and repair. We can heal.

And it is only in this state of feeling like we belong that we can open up to connection with others.

If I were a tabby cat on a tab of catnip.
In this powerful book Dr. Julie Holland M.D. helps us understand the science of connection as revealed in human experiences from the spiritual to the psychedelic, from the mental to the entheogenic.

The Pot Book: Complete Guide
The key is oxytocin — a neurotransmitter and hormone produced in our bodies that allows us to trust and bond. It fosters attachment between romantic partners, friends, mothers and infants, and even with our pets and strangers at a Coachella or Lollapalooza, Grateful Dead or Phish show.
Moody Bitches (Dr. Holland)
There are many ways to reach this state of mental and physical wellbeing that modern medicine has overlooked. The implications for our happiness and health are profound.

We can find oneness in meditation, in community, or in awe at the beauty around us. Another option: psychedelic medicines that can catalyze a connection with "self," with nature, or with the cosmos.

Author psychiatrist Dr. Julie Holland, M.D.
Her book Good Chemistry: The Science of Connection, from Soul to Psychedelics points us on the right path to forging true and deeper attachments with our own "souls" (psyches, minds, spirits, astral bodies), to one another -- and even to our planet.

This will help us heal ourselves and our world... if the government doesn't ban it again in the interest of Big Pharma's profit motive in selling lifelong "treatments" instead of actual natural (non-synthetic) "cures." More
