Who gets to define "normal" or "natural"?
"Conversion therapy" is the pseudoscientific practice of attempting to change an individual's sexual orientation, romantic preference, gender identity, or gender expression to align with heteronormative (cisgender) ideals. Conversion therapy is said to be ineffective at changing a person's sexual orientation or gender identity and may (and frequently does) cause significant long-term psychological harm. The position of evidence-based medicine and clinical guidance is that sexual orientations like homosexuality and bisexuality as well as gender variance (nonbinary, pansexual, transsexual, asexual) are natural and acceptable aspects of human sexuality and gender identity [1, 2, 3]. That there is a second meaning is also not in dispute. However, what, exactly, that meaning is has been the source of controversy.
According to one interpretation, the second meaning of pandak is "male homosexual." This cannot possibly be correct and is based upon a critical misinterpretation of a key [Theravada Buddhist] text, namely, the story about a pandaka who was ordained as a [Buddhist monk or] Bhikkhu [1] and who, overcome by sexual desire, went around trying to persuade other Bhikkhus and lay persons to sodomize him.

After several lay persons did so, the Sangha [2] was criticized for allowing such a person to be ordained as a Bhikkhu.

[He also set up a rule not to ordain pandakas in the future and that if someone had already been ordained and was found to be a pandaka, that person was to be immediately expelled. As noted by Kelvin Wong (2005), it is clear from the Pali Tipitaka [3] that the Buddha was aware of the difference between eunuchs, hermaphrodites, and homosexuals.

On May 19, 2017, The NY Times reported Weiner had surrendered to the FBI that morning, and under a plea bargain he intended to plead guilty to a single charge of transferring obscene material to a minor [73]. Huma Abedin reportedly filed for divorce prior to his guilty plea [74], possibly in an attempt to escape the notoriety. On Sept. 25, 2017, Judge Denise Cote of the Southern District of NY agreed to a plea agreement sentence totaling 21 months in federal prison, three years supervised release, and for Weiner to register as a sex offender [75]. Weiner reported to Federal Medical Center, Devens on Nov. 6 [76]. He was released from prison on Feb. 17, 2019 [77] and was ordered to register as a sex offender in April that year [78].
Weiner ran for New York City Council in the 2nd district in 2025, finishing in fourth place in the Democratic primary and losing to Harvey Epstein.

Members of the alt-right, conservative journalists and others who had urged Clinton's prosecution over her use of an unrelated private email server spread the conspiracy theory on social media outlets such as 4chan, 8chan, Reddit, and Twitter [7].
In response, a man from North Carolina traveled to Comet Ping Pong to investigate the conspiracy and fired a rifle inside the restaurant to break the lock on a door to a storage room during his search [8]. In addition, the restaurant's owner and staff received death threats from conspiracy theorists [9].
