What will be hit song of the summer?

(ArianaGrandeVevo) Ariana Grande "petal" (Progeria is a real condition, but we can lick it)

I'm not a Latina, OK? I'm a Roman
Although Airy Grande drew criticism for impolite interactions with reporters and fans in 2014 [407], she dismissed those reports as "weird, inaccurate depictions" [3]. Rolling Stone wrote: "Some may cry 'diva,' but it's also Grande just taking a stand to not allow others to control her image" [408]. In July 2015, the diva sparked controversy after being caught on surveillance video in a doughnut shop licking other peoples' doughnuts that were on display and saying, "I hate Americans. I hate America. This is disgusting," supposedly referring to the tray of doughnuts [409] and not the fat Americans who eat them. She subsequently apologized because of her strong backbone and sticking to her convictions, which are not really present. Public image my @ss! More I'm not Satanic [just because I sold my soul, which is not even a thing, so don't say that. And I don't have progeria, because I don't even know what that is, and I don't look like an old lady just out of a concentration camp, and if you say so, that's racist or antisemitic or one of those. Whatever, I don't care what you think!]

What'll be Song of Summer for 2026?

The new Ocean Way Festival of LA
Given the exigencies and erratic demands of the music industry nowadays, it is essential that one hit song be pushed to the top of the pop charts to rule each summer. A pop idol's shelf life could depend on it, or it might make an up and comer's career. This summer is tough because there's no obvious frontrunner. Taylor Swift? Yawn. Olivia Rodrigo has a new album, and everything she's done in the past has been so promising, but a runaway hit? Not to our ears, not this time, not even "drop dead" or "the cure." Does it have to be a new song? Technically not because SAINt JHN had "Roses" due to a remix that went viral on TikTok or Instagram or my littler sister's cellphone and dance class. We used to be able to rely on Lana Del Rey to kick out the summer jams.

New music(k) discovery: death metal twins

Twin sister rockers Jackie and Jessica Parry
On Friday's "Stay or Go" segment of KLOS' (95.5 FM) The Heidi and Frank Show, there was a big surprise when power duo and twin sisters Dianthvs (dianthvsmusic.net, pronounced /die-ann-tuss/) broke out with a mash of grindcore and Evanescence vocals. One sister plays the guitar, the other is a drum impresario, and both sing. It's hard to believe so much sound and noise are coming from two dainty gals from Riverside. They will be playing at Revelry Brewing in Temecula on Aug. 1, 2026.

Dianthvs is a Southern California progressive metalcore band led by twin sisters Jessica and Jackie Parry. They fuse classical piano roots, moody atmospherics, and crushing heaviness (drums and metal guitar) into a sound that blurs beauty and brutality. Jackie is on lead vocals and guitar, while percussionist Jessica holds down the backing vocals and drumming duties.

Can heavy metal save Japanese town?

Heavy metal festival aims to revive Japan 'town of steel'
(NEWSNHK WORLD-JAPAN) Nov. 13, 2025: The western Japanese city of Yasugi is known as a "town of steel" for its centuries-long iron-making tradition. Buddhist Thailand BANS cannabis

Thailand legalized non-prescription cannabis sales in 2022 but has reversed (Reuters/Jorge Silva)
BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand is further tightening control of cannabis by banning sales of the plant to those without prescriptions. Thailand became the first country in Asia to decriminalize cannabis in 2022, in a move that boosted Thailand’s tourism and farming, and spawned thousands of shops. But the country has faced public backlash over allegations that under-regulation has made the drug available to children and caused addiction. Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin signed an order Monday that bans shops from selling cannabis to customers without a prescription. It also seeks to reclassify cannabis buds as a controlled herbThailand further tightening controls on cannabis sales (AP News)
