Death toll in Bangkok bar fire reaches 33

Bangkok is the L.A. of Asia
(DW) Deaths in a devastating fire at a pub in Theravada Buddhist Thailand's capital Bangkok have risen to 30, reports said Tuesday, citing updated figures from city officials.

A screen grab taken from a video released on July 12, shows people fleeing a fire at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao bar. Three more victims succumbed to their injuries, pushing up the tally from the initial 27 dead, local media reports said.

More than 70 people continue to receive treatment in hospitals, with 24 of them in critical condition, officials said.
  • Bangkok, July 15: The death toll from a devastating Bangkok bar fire has risen to 33, authorities said on Wednesday, as Thailand pledged a nationwide overhaul of entertainment venue regulations (Asian Standard).

Meanwhile, police are probing possible negligence, including obstructed emergency exits as people scrambled to flee the flames. Most killed were found trapped in windowless bathrooms.

Bangkok blaze deadliest in 17 years
What will the new king of Thailand say?
An explosive fire ripped through Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao, a pub near the popular Chatuchak Weekend Market in northern Bangkok late on Sunday night.

Footage circulating on social media showed a powerful inferno jetting out of the bar's doorway as people ran to escape. It took firefighters about half an hour to tame the fire.

The blaze is one of the deadliest in Thailand since 2009, when a New Year's Day fire at a nightclub killed 67 people.

On Tuesday, more mourners laid down flowers and handwritten notes at the site of the incident as remnants from the bar -- including melted musical instruments and sooty chairs -- lay on the sidewalk.

Cavemen shamans got high all day? (sutra)

When did humans start smoking cannabis?

Ink Explainer(Ink Explainer) June 4, 2026: When did early humans start smoking weed (THC/CBD)? The answer goes back way further than most of us would expect. Our relationship with cannabis did not begin in a college dorm or a back alley. — Rather, it started over 12,000 years ago, when some of the first farmers in East Asia looked at a very useful wild plant and thought, "Let's grow this."

This video traces the full history of cannabis — from a 2,700-year-old shaman's tomb in western China to the smoke-filled burial caves of the Pamir Mountains, the golden cups of Scythian warriors, the sacred altars of ancient Judah, the bhang rituals of India, a Chinese physician's lost anesthesia formula, a Congolese tribe that traded war for hemp, and the American political machine that turned a 12,000-year-old plant into one of the most dangerous [Schedule 1] substances on Earth.

By the end, viewers might start seeing this plant a little differently. All factual research sources are linked below.

Criminalized cannabis through racist propaganda, fabricated evidence (the Gore Files), and targeted Black musicians including Billie Holiday. ▸ Billie Holiday — legendary jazz singer targeted by Anslinger, not for drug use but for performing "Strange Fruit," a protest song about American lynchings. ▸ John Ehrlichman — Pres. Nixon's domestic policy advisor, who in a 2016-published interview admitted the War on Drugs was designed to target anti-war protesters and Black communities. ▸ Francis Young — DEA administrative law judge who, after two years of reviewing evidence in 1988, concluded that cannabis should not be classified as a Schedule 1 drug alongside heroin. The DEA rejected and ignored his recommendation.

Ancient cavemen and cannabis smoking
(MACK) High all day? When did ancient human (cavemen) start smoking cannabis?

Doctor Feelgood? Cannabis, MD

"The Cave of the Body" (Guhatthaka Sutta)
Clinging to this cave heavily defiled [1]
one is stuck, bewildered, far from seclusion
from craving for the sensual pleasures [2]
of the world, which are hard to let go.

Those chained to craving
bound by the allure of becoming
find no release
for there is no liberation by others.

Intent, before and behind [3], on thirst
for sensual pleasure here or before —
full of lust for sensual pleasures,
busy, deluded, greedy, entrenched

in the wobbling way [4] they —
impelled into pain — lament:
"What will we be
when we pass away from here?"

So one ought to train here and now.
Whatever one knows as wobbling
in the world, do not, for its sake, behave,
for such life, the enlightened say, is short.

I see them in the world
floundering
men immersed in craving
for new states of becoming.

Base people moan in the mouth of death, their craving
for states of eternal becoming and annihilation [5] unallayed.
See them floundering in their sense of mine like fish in the
puddles of a dried-up stream — and, seeing this,

live with no sense of mine, not forming
attachments to states of becoming.
Subdue craving for both sides [6],
comprehending [7] sensory contact free of greed.

Doing nothing for which one would oneself
rebuke oneself, for the enlightened person
adheres not to what is seen, to what's heard.
Comprehending perception, one crosses over the flood —

the sage unstuck from possessions.
One, with arrow removed, lives heedful,
longing for neither
this world nor the next.

ENDNOTES
  1. Nd.I: Covered with defilements and unskillful mental states, characteristics, qualities.
  2. "Sensual craving" and "sensual pleasures" are two possible translations of kama ("sensuality"). According to Nd.I, both meanings are intended here.
  3. Nd.I: "Before" ("in front") means experienced in the past; "behind" means to-be-experienced in the future.
  4. Nd.I: "Wobbling way" means the karma of the Ten Courses of Unwholesome Action. (See AN 10.176).
  5. States of not-becoming = "oblivion." These are states of becoming that people can get themselves into through a desire or craving for annihilation, either after death or as a misguided goal of their spiritual striving. (See Iti 49, ucchedavadaannihilationism). As with all states of becoming, these states are impermanent (transient) and disappointing (painful).
  6. According to Nd.I, "both sides" has here several possible meanings: sensory contact and the origination of sensory contact; past and future; name-and-form; internal and external sense media; self-identity (view) and the origination of self-identity. It might also mean the states of becoming and not-becoming (eternalism and annihilationism) mentioned in the previous verse and below, in Sn 4.5.
  7. Nd.I: Comprehending sensory contact has three aspects: (1) being able to identify and distinguish types of sensory contact; (2) contemplating the true nature of sensory contact (e.g., impermanent/inconstant, disappointing/unable to fulfill, and impersonal/not-self); and (3) abandoning attachment to sensory contact. The same three aspects apply to comprehending perception, as mentioned in the following verse.

Ball Earth Model? Flat Earth Firestarters

Be skeptical. Investigate. Use scientific method.

Eric Dubay Exposed or Not?
In this Firestarter radio re-upload, Sinead McCarthy covers the level or flat earth, NASA, Freemasonry, Judaism, veganism, kosher slaughter, penile circumcision, Hitler, the Holocaust hoax, "controlled opposition," who really runs this world, and why they have convinced us that we are standing on a spinning ball moving at 1,038 MPH but too weak to throw off its watery surface.

Our eyes tell us one thing, but we are force fed a version of our environment we are not allowed to so much as question. Obey. Close your eyes. Go to sleep. Be quiet! Shut up! Sit on it!

Hey, but seriously, who could possibly believe -- after being bombarded with forced Western education -- that our Earth is flat? Anyone who tries to prove it is a round, spinning ball. Try it.

What does "zetetic" mean?

200 Proofs Earth Not Spinning Ball
Zetetic: proceeding by inquiry and investigation; the zetetic method; of or related to an ancient Greek school of philosophy that espoused extreme skepticism [and testing ideas objectively].

It has come to mean believing in or based on the [reproducible evidence] that the earth is a plane and that the sun, moon, and other celestial bodies are only a few thousand [miles] above it. See dictionary.com

It's the scientific method?
Zetetic Astronomy: Earth Not a Globe (Rowbotham)
Zététique (from Ancient Greek ζητητικός zētētikós, "inquisitive," "keen") is the application of the scientific method when investigating allegedly "paranormal" phenomena [1]. It can often be seen as equivalent to or somewhat different from (scientific) skepticism (French scepticisme (scientifique) and is widely used in the modern skeptical movement in France for self-identification. Village Fall Festival, Pasadena (11/22)

WHAT HAPPENED?
Why gather? To build community.
A thousand or so people from the community and far afield gathered on the grounds of Muir High. The main stage moved to the lawn area to accommodate dancing and grooving to live music and DJ Common. The food trucks were barbequing and one maestro of the kitchen had special raw vegan offerings -- three kinds of savory pizza and plantain cinnamon rolls. The most attractive offerings among all the nonprofit stalls and kiosks was the Healing Village with yoga, breathwork, sound baths, reiki, massage, and energy healing under tents. Even visitors from Pacific Palisades enjoyed it. It was six hours of socializing and visiting a booth to go on camera to tell the tale of Altadena and the area before and after the Eaton Fire.

(Rhythms of The Village)
VILLAGE FALL FESTIVAL: The Fall Festival is back at Pasadena's Muir High School, where we’ll host the foothill community for day of healing, joy, and unity! Free. RSVP on EVENTBRITE.

To save the remaining trees of Altadena

There is an organization that is currently doing something to save the remaining trees of Altadena, more than half of which were wiped out by the Eaton Fire. They are Amigos de los Rios ("Friends of the Rivers," referring to the Emerald Necklace).

(amigosdelosrios.org)
ADLR offers free watering assistance for Altadena homeowners:

In the wake of the Eaton Fires, our local trees need our help. We’re offering watering assistance for Altadena’s homeowners to protect and preserve our community canopy.

By signing up, those in need give permission for ADLR's trained team to visit a property and water its trees.

Amigos de los Rios is an Altadena-based 501c3 urban greening non-profit that has served the community since 2003.

Its office was destroyed in the Eaton Fire and many of our staff have been impacted by fire damage and loss, leading to a great deal of concern about the tremendous loss of trees thoughout this Los Angeles foothill community.

It is critical to protect the remaining trees in Altadena by watering them over the hot Indian summer months to help them survive.
As such ADLR has started a program to help all families provide water to surviving trees. ADLR is working hard to raise grant funds for this endeavor. Support ADLR by donating to this effort or volunteering.

Mission

If LiDAR is brought in, what's under the canopy?
Amigos de los Rios is working to create the Emerald Necklace: a natural infrastructure network of green spaces, green schools, parks, and trails throughout under-served communities in the Los Angeles Basin. ADLR is connecting the mountains to the sea, helping to provide equitable access to nature, and protecting our environment and urban communities from the threats of climate change. More
