Why's Gen Z obsessed with The Office? (video)
Billboard sent Rainn Wilson (a.k.a. "Dwight Schrute" on the TV series The Office), to singer Billie Eilish’s house to surprise her and to quiz her on some show-related Office trivia. It looks like cool Billie Pirate Eilish has been watching a lot of Die Antwoord videos and borrowed some moves and fashion ideas ("Bad Guy" Duh).
She’s got a pout worthy of a supermodel and a bone-chillingly vacant stare, and you might have seen her with a live tarantula positioned in or around her mouth.
Eilish is fearlessly fashionable and devastatingly hip. She’s also obsessed with The Office, NBC’s American remake of an offbeat two-season British series that debuted four years after she was born.
Eilish samples the show on "My Strange Addiction," the ninth song of the album; she told MTV News that she just ripped the audio off of Netflix. In 2017, Eilish used the series’s theme song to open her concerts.

Innovative Occupy LA deal may still be in play

It's a "Brave New World" at OLA/Good Jobs LA action (Eric Richardson/Blogdowntown). The LAPD promises 72 hours notice before using brute force on activists.
Well, that didn't take long. Just as an innovative deal between the City of LA and Occupy LA protesters -- a deal that would have gotten the protesters off City Hall's lawn and into 10,000 square feet of office space -- was floated, it was criticized. But it may still be in play.
And if it is, it's consistent with the very enlightened stance Los Angeles has taken toward the Occupy Movement since it set up camp at City Hall almost two months ago.
- This is from the LA Times: Images of cops in riot gear rousting Occupy encampments across the nation have become ubiquitous in recent weeks, as many cities try to prevent the tent gatherings from becoming troublesome permanent fixtures. But Los Angeles has taken a different tack. More
We do the questioning. We don't like being questioned.

- Success: Occupy Columbia gets restraining order
South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Alison Renee Lee granted the grass roots group [Occupy Columbia] an injunction that prevents protesters from being arrested on the State House grounds and allows them to use the public areas 24 hours a day and bring sleeping bags and tents.- When it set up its campsite at Zuccotti Park, Occupy Wall Street was facing in only one direction: toward the financial heart of the planet two blocks away. The police, who promptly surrounded the encampment and organized their own occupation of the neighborhood, were in a sense facing in the other direction.

LA rescinds Office and Farm offer to Occupy
What the Occupy Office and Farm might have looked like (eatdrinktravel.com). Instead city now says, "Get out by Monday, Nov. 28th."Occupy L.A. leaders say city backpedaled on offer of office space
Occupy Los Angeles leaders [who do not speak for the General Assembly, which is not a leaderless movement but a movement of leaders] said on Tuesday that city officials backpedaled on an offer [in writing presented to Jim Lafferty of KPFK and the Lawyer's Guild] to lease a downtown [office and farm] space to the group [for $1.00 a year] after news outlets published details of the offer. Looking for a peaceful way to end the Occupy L.A. encampment, the city offered to lease a 10,000 square foot office space in the Los Angeles Mall. The city-owned space, most recently occupied by B. Dalton Booksellers, was offered to the protesters for $1 a year lease.[Where this "farm" land was located was never specified.]

But Occupy L.A. organizer Ryan Rice, who met with representatives from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office on Tuesday afternoon, said the city staff were unhappy after numerous news outlets, including the Daily News, published information on the lease deal.
"They didn't like the media attention," said Rice.
Additionally, he said that Deputy Chief of Staff Matt Szabo indicated that political feelings were hurt because numerous department heads hadn't yet been briefed on the Los Angeles Mall deal.
The mayor's office would not comment on the meeting Tuesday afternoon.
While the lease option may be off the table for now, Rice said the mayor's representatives remained open to working with Occupy L.A. leaders to move them to another site.
But it's unclear whether the protesters, who have been camped out at City Hall for more than two months, would accept any incentive to move.
Occupy L.A. protester Adam Adler, who has a small garden on the south lawn of City Hall, said he planned to make a counter-offer to the city.
"We demand the city give us the Hall of Justice. The entire thing," said Adler, showing off his collection of vegetables. "We can grow a garden on the roof." Source

L.A. offers Occupy office, farm (video)
In the most fractious and rambunctious General Assembly (GA) in Occupy LA's history, the debate was deceptively simple:Accept 10,000 feet of office space for $1 a year and a farm to grow food on (the Brave New World carrot) or endure beatings, tear gas, plastic cuffs, live ammo, and potentially deadly projectile munitions (the Orwellian New World Order stick). Your choice. No pressure. We already have a plan (pretext) to displace your encampment.
Jim Lafferty, Esq. (The Lawyer's Guild) tried to reason with the crowd and answer questions with Scott and Mario and others. But they were frequently shouted down by a homeless woman and Juan the beloved but violent homeless court jester.(MacIverInstitute) An unfriendly voice tries to explain the movement's origins and process.
No one has to leave (anyone choosing to stay can stay, splitting the movement but taking up a legal and permanent location for OM). While the City Council supported the use of the City Hall lawn, it will not do so indefinitely. There are no demands they or anyone could meet to move the camp, so no one can actually "negotiate." The Lawyer's Guild will defend everyone petitioning the government for a redress of grievances.
But attorney Lafferty opined that it was a good deal to consider. The GA uses (misuses) a system of consensus that is so easy to bog down, it has yet to make a decision. It is argued that the system, superior to voting and majority rules, is not used correctly, so to no one's surprise it often does not get anywhere.
Easily disrupted or ruined by provocateurs and spoilers
This means some will take the space and others will remain homeless and at the mercy of police brutality. Come make your voice heard tonight... or watch history in the making through the livestream.
Life during wartime means endless hypocrisy from chameleon politicians of all stripes.
