It is fascinating what is hidden from us. Edgar Cayce, America's "Sleeping Prophet," gave detailed instructions on how to build a device that is able to see the aura he spoke of so frequently in his readings (edgarcayce.org). Where is this device? More importantly, where are those original instructions? If they still existed unaltered, someone would have assembled one.

The Buddha could see auras and had a tremendous one himself that others may have been able to see as it extended out a league, according to legend.

Crystals might help in building and seeing auras

Humans, science has recently discovered, emit light. If so, it must vary due to mood, health, vibrancy, youth, emotions, mental states, and so on. It would hardly be static and lifeless. Kirlian photography records something beyond an electrical discharge -- because if it did not, how could one explain that a hand with a missing finger when viewed by Kirlian photography shows the missing finger? A freshly cut leaf shows the missing piece as if it is still there energetically.

Scientific studies

Dr. Walter John Kilner, MRCP, published The Human Atmosphere: Or the Aura Made Visible by the Aid of Chemical Screens in 1911.

It is one of the first Western medical studies of the aura or "human atmosphere," proposing its testable existence, nature, and possible use in medical diagnosis and prognosis.

In its conviction that our human energy field is an indicator of health and mood, Dr. Kilner's study resembles the later work of Harold Saxton Burr. However, while Burr relied on voltmeter readings, Dr. Kilner, working before the advent of semiconductor technology, attempted to invent devices by which the naked eye could be trained to observe "auric" activity.

He hypothesized that it was ultraviolet radiation, stating that the phenomena he saw were not affected by electromagnets [2].

Dicyanin coated glass slides were called "Kilner Screens" [3]. The slides were treated with alcoholic solutions of variously colored dyes and held to train the eyes to perceive electromagnetic radiation outside the normal spectrum of visible light [4], namely, N-rays.

Treatment of the screens notably involved dicyanin, a toxic coal tar dye originally used in infrared sensitization of photographic plates.

While this dye is rumored to be banned by the US government due to its paranormal properties, these claims are inaccurate.

Dr. Kilner reported that long-term viewing through these screens was not recommended as they "had a very deleterious effect upon our eyes, making them very painful." But after regular viewing and sufficient training, one could dispense with the apparatus [and still see auras].

According to his study, Dr. Kilner and his associates were able, on many occasions, to perceive auric formations, which he called the "Etheric Double," the Inner Aura and the Outer Aura, extending several inches from patients' naked bodies.

His book gives instructions by which the reader might construct and use similar devices [2]. More

Brenden Sener of Ontario won multiple medals for his miniature version of the Archimedes Death Ray, crafted with light and mirrors.

It might be surprising to learn that then-12-year-old Brenden Sener of London, Ontario, Canada, was enthralled by Ancient Greek concepts posited by mathematician Archimedes.

Attractive face or not? It depends on TONGUE posture

(What I've Learned) One thing missing from any discussion of beauty is the health impact of good oral posture.

I used to be so beautiful

Considering that it is at the back of the face, having a receded chin or maxilla could hinder the airway, with big implications for sleep apnea.

Clarification on the title: Of course, no one means to suggest that attractiveness depends only on tongue posture. Nutrition in utero (during the mother's pregnancy), postpartum nutrition, and health through the formative years surely play very big roles in how the face develops.

Nutrition and Physical Degeneration suggests that fat soluble vitamins are very important for fertility and the proper development of the young; grains and sugar ("modern foods") are very detrimental to their development, particularly their oral health.

SUTURE FUSION: The phrases "These sutures are not completely fused together" and "Sutures are not completely closed" would have been better. It is understood that after birth, the sutures of the skull "fuse" together by age 2 or so. One study found that complete closure of certain sutures does not occur until as late as 70-years-old. Another found that “The human frontozygomatic suture undergoes synostosis during the eighth decade of life but does not completely fuse by the age of 95 years" based on 61 human cadavers aged 20 to 95.

How can you find right understanding? I can answer you simply by using this glass I'm holding.

It appears to be clean and useful, something to drink from and keep for a long time, right? "Right understanding" is to see this as a broken glass, as if it has already shattered. Sooner or later it will shatter and lie destroyed.

This glass is as good as broken, so use it.

If you keep this understanding in mind while using it -- that all it is is a combination of elements which have come together in this form to break apart in line with nature -- then no matter what happens to the glass, you'll have no problem.

This body is similar to this glass. It is also going to break apart. We die. You have to understand that.

This one, too, and the bottle...and this body.

Yet when you do, it doesn't mean you should go kill yourself, just as you shouldn't take that useful glass and shatter it or throw it away before it's served its usefulness.

The glass is something to make use of until it falls apart -- in its own natural way. This right understanding can make you free in all the changing circumstances of the entire world.

The Lodo Wellness Center in Denver, Colorado has been selling medical marijuana for several years. But since Jan. 1, 2014, when marijuana in Colorado officially moved from underground to behind-the-counter, they have also been selling legal, recreational pot.

Inside the Lodo Wellness Center, shoppers do not seem particularly worried about getting behind the wheel with pot in their systems -- since it lingers in fat for days or weeks, long after one is "high."
 
"You could smoke about an ounce and still have your motor skills," says 39-year-old Dante Cox. "When it comes to one shot of alcohol, all that goes out of the window."
 
Like Cox, several others say it's okay to smoke before driving, and it's definitely safer than drinking [alcohol] and driving.
 

UCLA, USC students unite against racism

For advocates of traffic safety, their words are of concern. "I think this is the next big issue in highway safety," says Jonathan Adkins, executive director of the Governor's Highway Safety Association.

TEDx: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Perception

Much of Buddhist philosophy depends on perception. We have the same world in front of us -- replete with dukkha ("unsatisfactoriness"), radical impermanence, and no-self (impersonality). However, we do not all attain enlightenment by directly seeing the Four Noble Truths.

Seeing these truths would lead to the breakthrough in insight resulting in enlightenment, nirvana, and complete freedom from all suffering.

How we see things is dependent not only on them but on us. Reality is just as it is. Yet, few see it. The problem is partly in the looking, partly in the looker, and somewhat in the objects being observed.

• Things need to be observed mindfully (without thinking or judging, but simply observing) dispassionately, and with sustained attention.
• The looker's virtue (ethics, sila, morality) -- not necessarily one's past, but one's present state of mind -- needs to be cleansed.
• The most efficacious thing to observe is perhaps the breath, but there are also other beneficial objects (such as the elements, body parts, kasinas, and various contemplative objects such as the Dharma, Buddha, Sangha, devas, or even in some cases death).

How could this be? People awake (and dogs asleep) are sunk in delusion (ensnared by lust and trapped by anger/fear). And these objects and this way of looking has the ability to jar one awake. Here are two examples of the problem ordinary living beings face.
