Ads that would be BANNED today (video)

(RerunZone) North Americans in the 20th century lived very different lives than we do now. It was an extraordinary time that changed the world beyond recognition. Technology advanced at a rapid pace, but one thing that didn’t progress nearly as quickly was people’s attitudes toward one another. Let's explore some of the most glaring examples of actual print advertisements of the 20th century that would certainly be BANNED today.

World's richest man gets much richer overnight

Ashley Wells, Sheldon S., Seth Auberon, Wisdom Quarterly
Gosh, Billy, I don't know what happened. Crazy stock prices! - Feels good, doesn't it, Jeff?
.
Reptilian lunch: Dinosaurs eat dinosaurs
How much is too much? (There's never enough, so no amount is too much). Revolutionaries of the past put it well, "There's enough for everyone's need, but not enough to satisfy even one person's GREED." Craving (lobha) is insatiable.

While we've all been distracted by Don John Trump's cheating with prostitutes and actresses scandal, Facebook selling and giving away our personal information, students being whipped up into the next over-produced public relations sensation, and Kevin Federline wanting more palimony from multi-millionaire ex-mom Brit-Brit Spears, the richest man in the world has grown a whole lot richer.

Who's the richest man in the world? No, not Mexican cellphone tycoon Carlos Slim. He fell off the top of the charts a while back.

No, not Russian gangster-dictator Vlad Putin, who is an all-around nice guy strongman defending his nation against NATO. His many billions have yet to be taken out of the country to wait for him on a nice tropical-style island in Sochi; he just has to stay out of Russian prison long enough to enjoy his ill-gotten gains.

No, not that woman who ran for office that time, former Hewlett-Packard heiress, and not that Heinz fortune magnate who married almost-US President John Kerry.

And, no, not even the Carlyle Group's George Bush or his family members. Not even the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett, and not that fat WalMart family with all their stock.

No, we're talking about multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos (a.k.a. Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen), the owner of the Amazon.com fortune and new owner of Whole Foods Market. In one day this month, a mere 24 hours, he ended up with almost US$3 billion dollar more than the previous day. How? Amazon stock.
Who is Jeff Jorgensen call me Bezos?
Wisdom Quarterly: let's edit his Wiki page
I may be rich, but I'm still bald? No. What'll I do with my money? Physical immortality, getting off the planet, downloading my DNA and memories, life extension technology by taking the liquid matrix of my consciousness into new bodies... Don't worry about it. I got plans.

Yeah, so what? WTF? It's a "free" country.
The rich get richer. Make that, the richest got richer. Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos -- already the wealthiest person on the planet -- saw his fortune balloon $2.8 billion in a single day, Forbes magazine estimates.

The magazine says the latest Bezos pot of gold was the result of a 2.5 percent rise in the Amazon stock price...

Amazon.com began as an Internet merchant of books and expanded to a wide variety of products and services, most recently video and audio streaming. It is currently the world's largest Internet sales online company, as well as the world's largest provider of cloud infrastructure services via its Amazon Web Services arm.

Bezos diversified his business interests when he founded aerospace company Blue Origin in 2000 (his own personal SpaceX because why should billionaire Elon Musk be the only one to get off the planet at a moment's notice?) Blue Origin started test flights to space in 2015 and plans for commercial suborbital human spaceflight beginning in 2018.

What do Bezos & Musk know?
Bezos purchased The Washington Post newspaper in 2013 for US$250 million in cash to help control the mainstream media that needs to show him in a good light for him to remain rich by selling influence and protecting the powers that be that could take his wealth away.

Bezos also has a number of other business investments that are managed through Bezos Expeditions.

On July 27, 2017, he briefly became the world's wealthiest person when he accumulated an estimated net worth of just over $90 billion.

His wealth surpassed $100 billion for the first time on November 24 after Amazon's share price increased by more than 2.5%.

He was formally designated the wealthiest person in the world on March 6, 2018 with a registered net worth of $112 billion by Forbes, becoming the first centi-billionaire.

As of March 21, 2018, he has an estimated net worth of $130.8 billion, and is contended to be on track to become the wealthiest person in contemporary history. More

Santa reported dead at 226; Obama wants war

time.com,
Ha ha, who cares? We American consumers can keep shopping and blame it on Kris Kringle!

Norwegian paper runs obituary for Santa
The newspaper said there was an "error"
This year, rise above death: nirvana.
In a move that threatened children’s Christmas hopes across Norway, a major Norwegian newspaper published a death announcement for Father Christmas.

The fabricated obituary printed a box in memory of “Dear Father Christmas, born 12 December 1788,” the BBC reports [a week before his 227th birthday]. The death notice also specified that Father Christmas, the same figure as the American Santa Claus -- died in Nordkapp, the furthest point north in Norway. A funeral allegedly was to take place Dec. 28th.

Death awaits us. So what to do? (CF)
“An error in Aftenposten’s internal procedures led to a fictional obituary of Santa Claus [being] published in our digital systems,” the newspaper said in a statement.

Aftenposten has strict guidelines for both the content and use of symbols in our obituaries. This ad is a violation of these and should never have been published.” The newspaper has removed the ad from its website. [Source: BBC]

Obama revives endless WAR on a tactic (terror)
Continues role as eager spokesman for military-industrial complex, banks, and corrupt Republicrats in Washington, D.C., intent on waging imperial world against the world. And as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. military, he is willing to employ terrorist tactics against Santa, ISIS, Bin Laden, Al Qaeda, and any other strawman-opponents the CIA, NSA, NSC can manufacture. He's an expert liar, better even than the infamous Clintons.

Remember that time the Nobel Peace Laureate killed that innocent guy and said it was Osama bin Laden and then dumped the body into the middle of the ocean? Or the time he signed the Indefinite Detention (NDAA) bill? Or the time he said we're staying in Afghanistan indefinitely? How about the weekly signing drone execution orders for anyone the clandestine services and military-industrial complex says needs to be extrajudicially assassinated without a trial and in the midst of innocent civilians collateral damage? Obama, the Peace President, and we all thought Bush was the worst thing to happen to the nation.

You in, Canada? Lots of money to be made.
It's been four days since the tragic San Bernardino shootings, which took the lives of 14 and wounded 21, and Pres. Obama is declaring war on ISIS, Islamic extremists, or anybody else that will justify war spending exceeding that of any other nation on the planet and a scheme for corporation to make money from] the nation's growing concern about terrorism during tonight's (Dec. 6) address to the nation. This marks his third Oval Office address since he started his presidency. More

When are you gonna make me president already? I'm not like this guy. I'll start a war against all Muslims right now -- and I'll make them pay for it! I'm going to make us all winners just like in the good ol' days when we all had slaves. Right? Shut up; sit down, losers.

Burmese junta frees 9,002 prisoners

Burma's junta has freed 9,002 prisoners for good behavior so they can help build a new nation ahead of elections planned for 2010, state media has reported. It was not clear if any of the country's 1,200 political prisoners were among those released.

"Big Brother," literally: military junta that usurped power in Burma for military state-control as depicted in the novel 1984, based on that author's experience up to 1948, which were leading up to totalitarian rule (Photo: AP).

The state-controlled Myanmar Ahlin newspaper said that freedom was granted to prisoners around the country who exhibited good "moral behavior."

"The government is trying to transform these convicted prisoners into citizens who can contribute to the building of a new nation," the newspaper said, adding they were released "so they could participate in the fair elections to be held in 2010." The elections are part of the junta's long announced "roadmap to democracy," which will give voters the first chance to cast ballots since 1990. Critics say the roadmap is a sham designed to cement the military's power.

In 1990, Aung San Suu Kyi's opposition party won a landslide victory, which the junta refused to acknowledge. Instead, the generals stepped up arrests and repression of dissidents. Suu Kyi has spent more than 12 of the past 19 years in detention and is currently under house arrest.

The government often grants amnesties to mark important national days, but most of those released are petty criminals. Tuesday's announcement came ahead of the one-year anniversary of the junta's deadly September 26-27, 2007, crackdown on anti-government protests that were led by Buddhist monks.

The UN estimated that at least 31 people, including a Japanese photojournalist, were killed when the army fired on peaceful protesters. Hundreds of activists were arrested in the crackdown and many fled the country or went underground.
