Tai chi (chi gong) is NOT an exercise

Tai chi is today thought of as a Chinese martial art created for combat and self-defense, but that is tai chi chuan, chuan meaning "fist."

For most practitioners, it has (d)evolved into an "exercise," a relaxation technique, and a sport. As an exercise and relaxation technique, tai chi is practiced in set sequences known as "forms" (taolu), usually in gentle, flowing, circular motions that are often described as "meditation in motion," though they may also be performed in faster and more vigorous routines.

As a sport, competitors are judged on their performance in forms, pushing hands, and free sparring. As a martial art, practitioners master the applications of forms and partner work for effective self-defense.

Qigong (Chi gong) is the movement of energy
: It is a system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation [2] said to be useful for the purposes of spirituality, health, and self-defense martial arts training [3]. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is traditionally viewed by the Chinese and throughout Asia as a practice to cultivate and balance the mystical life-force chi or qi [4]. Qigong practice typically involves moving meditation, coordinating slow-flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and a calm meditative state of mind. People qigong worldwide for meditation, recreation, exercise, relaxation, preventive medicine, self-healing, alternative medicine, self-cultivation, and training for martial arts [2].
One implies the other in pairs. It is not balance
Many styles of tai chi are practiced, both traditional and modern. While the precise origins are not known, the earliest well-documented practice began during the Ming-Qing transition at Chen Village and Zhabao Village in Henan on the North China Plain, a region where centuries of rebellions, invasions, and adverse economic and social conditions nurtured the development of a wide range of martial arts, including those of the Shaolin (Kung Fu) Buddhist Monastery on Mount Song at the western edge of the plain.

Most modern styles trace their development to five traditional schools:
  1. Chen,
  2. Yang,
  3. Wu (Hao),
  4. Wu,
  5. Sun.
In the early 20th century, Yang Chengfu, Wu Jianquan, Sun Lutang, and others promoted and standardized the art for its health benefits in programs supported by the Nationalist government.

This approach was further expanded and institutionalized by the PRC (Peoples Republic of China) government after 1949. In 2020, tai chi was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. More

Aikido: martial art for defense not harm

(Jesse Enkamp) Real Aikido is terrifying
(Fighting wow) Aikido moves are no joke. They can be terrifying and very dangerous!

really throw morbidly obese Sumo wrestlers around the dojo?

Aikido
(Shinjitai 合気道, Kyūjitai 合氣道, aikidō) is a modern Japanese martial art that is split into many different styles including Aikikai, Shodokan Aikido, Yoshinkan, Renshinkai, Iwama Ryu, Iwama Shin Shin Aiki Shuren Kai, and Ki Aikido.

Aikido is now practiced in 140 countries [1]. It was originally developed by Master Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of his martial studies, Eastern philosophy, and Shintoist religious beliefs.

Meaning: how not to hurt the opponent
.
Aikido Founder Morihei Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves against attacks, while also protecting the attackers from injury [2, 3].

Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy" [4] or as "the way of harmonious spirit" [5]. According to the founder's philosophy, the primary goal in the practice of aikido is to overcome oneself instead of cultivating violence or aggressiveness [6].

Aikido's founder used the phrase masakatsu agatsu katsuhayabi (正勝吾勝勝速日, "true victory, final victory over oneself, here and now") to refer to this principle [7].

How to put aggressor down without hurting him
Aikido's fundamental principles include: irimi [8] ("entering"), atemi ("strikes") [9, 10], kokyu-ho ("breathing control"), sankaku-ho ("triangular principle"), and tenkan ("turning") movements that redirect the opponent's own attack momentum.

Aikido's curriculum is comprised of various techniques, primarily throws and joint locks [11]. It includes a weapons system encompassing the bokken, tantō, and .

Jujitsu (and rifles) in an agricultural school
Aikido derives mainly from the martial art of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu (a form of jujitsu) but began to diverge from it in the late 1920s, partly due to Ueshiba's involvement with the new Shinto-based Ōmoto-kyō religion (Oomoto). Ueshiba's early students' documents bear the term aiki-jūjutsu [12].

Aikido
as practiced by Ueshiba's senior students take different approaches to the art, depending partly on when they studied with the master.

Aikido today is found all over the world in a number of styles, with broad ranges of interpretation and emphasis. However, they all share techniques formulated by Ueshiba and most have concern for the well-being of the attacker. More

Buddhism was first established in Japan in the 6th century CE [3, 4, 5]. Most of Japanese Buddhists belong to new schools of Buddhism that were established in the Kamakura period (1185–1333) [6]. During the Edo period (1603–1868), Buddhism was controlled by the feudal Shogunate.

The Meiji period (1868–1912) saw a strong response against Buddhism, with persecution and a forced separation between Buddhism and the indigenous shapeshifter (kami) tradition called Shinto (Shinbutsu bunri).

Bruce Lee beats John Wayne's big bodyguard

John Wayne’s 350 lb. bodyguard attacked Bruce Lee — then watched him get crushed
Bruce Lee Diaries(AI Bruce Lee Diaries) Backstage at a Hollywood soundstage in 1972, Bruce Lee arrived for a quiet studio meeting. What he didn’t expect was a challenge from a massive former Marine — the personal bodyguard of John Wayne.

The man believed real combat training made movie martial arts useless. Fifteen minutes later, only a handful of crew members would witness what really happened. In this true behind-the-scenes story, discover how Bruce Lee — the star audiences knew from The Green Hornet — was openly mocked and tested in front of Wayne himself.

The 350-pound bodyguard thought size, strength, and Western military experience guaranteed him victory. What Bruce did next shocked everyone in the room — including "The [Grand] Duke."

Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do: The "Stop Fist Way"
This isn’t just another Bruce Lee legend. It’s the moment when raw Western power collided with a real Eastern understanding of movement, timing, and control — and when one of Hollywood’s toughest men learned that fighting isn’t about who’s bigger, it’s about who understands more.

For decades, this quiet backstage confrontation between Bruce Lee and John Wayne’s bodyguard stayed out of the spotlight. Now, the full story of how a 350-pound former Marine was taken down — twice — can finally be told.

In 1988, Seagal made his acting debut in Above the Law, which is regarded as the first American film to feature aikido in fight sequences [6]. More

Bruce Lee's philosophy: Jeet Kune Do
Jeet Kune Do Chinese (JKD, 截拳道, literally "Stop Fist Way," figuratively, the "Way of the Intercepting Fist") is Bruce Lee's hybrid martial arts style, which he conceived of and practiced. It centers on the principle of counterattacking opponents in order to impede their offense [12, 13].

As an eclectic martial art, it relies on a style of fighting heavily influenced by Wing Chun, Tai Chi, taekwondo, boxing, fencing, and jujutsu [14, 15].

JKD, which Lee intended to have practical applications in life without the traditional routines and metaphysics of conventional martial arts, also incorporates a set of principles to help practitioners make quick decisions and improve their mental and physical health [13, 16].

Lee, who based JKD on his experiences in unarmed fighting and self-defense, as well as on his Zen Buddhist, eclectic, Confucian, and Taoist philosophies [14, 17], did not formally codify JKD before his death.

As a result, JKD practitioners have had to rely on their own interpretations of Lee's philosophy [18, 19]. More

Gee whiz, did nobody love you as kids, Guys?
LYRICS
: "I Will Kill You": Bleed from my pain/ Revenge on treacherous snakes/ They will pay/ Slicing my flesh/ Sculptured wounds my catharsis/ I will stain/ Into the heart/ Needle injects gasoline/ Convulsions/ The one that they betrayed/ Has made them this way/ Plagued by the bastards/ I will kill you/ Killed by my rage/ Scream at my face/ The grisly scars went unavenged/ Until now/ Deep in the hole/ You are gagged and scream aloud/ But unheard/ Choke on your vomit/ You watch your hands cut off/ Then your legs/ The one that you betrayed/ Will kill you this way/ Scarred by the bastards/ I will kill you/ Killed by my rage/ I must kill you/ Into the throat/ The scalpel slices/ Warm blood sprays out/ The gushing entices/ Pull out your heart/ And let you watch/ Shove in your mouth/ Then stab your crotch/ I watch your agony/ I am released from years of pain/ Your death averted my becoming insane/ You are dead, I have killed you (Genius)
