K-pop dance practice: 'Iconic by Mistake'

Seokguram Gautama Buddha
KOREAN BUDDHISM
began in the 4th century CE during the Three Kingdoms Period. Centuries after Buddhism originated in India, the Mahayana (Hinduism as Buddhism's "Great Vehicle") tradition arrived in China through the Silk Road in the 1st century CE, then entered the Korean peninsula in the 4th century, from where it was transmitted to Japan.

In Korea, it was adopted as the state religion of three constituent polities of the Three Kingdoms Period, first by the Goguryeo (Goryeo) in 372 CE, by the Silla (Gaya) in 528 CE, and by the Baekje in 552 C [1].

Korean Buddhism is distinguished from other forms of Buddhism by its attempt to resolve what its early practitioners saw as inconsistencies within the Mahayana Buddhist traditions that they received from foreign countries. More

OMG, we're not gay! We're K-pop boy idols.
K-pop (Korean 케이팝, RR Keipap, an abbreviation of "Korean popular music" [1]) is a form of popular music originating in South Korea [2]. The music genre that the term is used to refer to colloquially emerged in the 1990s as a form of youth subculture, with Korean musicians influenced by Western dance music, rap, hip-hop, R&B, and rock [3, 4, 5]. Today, K-pop commonly refers to the musical output of teen idol acts, chiefly all-girl groups and androgynous boy-bands, who emphasize visual appeal and performance [6] over substance and individual expression.

It's OK to be angry, but keep the hits coming.
They represent a corporate approach to profit making and an illusory bigger-than-life persona and emphasis on PR (public relations). As a music genre, K-pop is characterized by its melodic quality and cultural hybridity [7, 8, 9]. K-pop can trace its origins to "rap dance," a fusion of hip-hop, techno, and rock popularized by the group Seo Taiji and Boys, whose experimentation helped to modernize South Korea's contemporary music scene in the early 1990s [10, 11, 12]. Their popularity with teenagers led the music industry to start to focus on this demographic. More

Martial art for defense not harming: Aikido

(Jesse Enkamp) Real Aikido is terrifying
(Fighting wow) Aikido moves are no joke. They can be terrifying and very dangerous!

It's fake? Master vs. Sumo wrestlers
(Aikido Shinburenseijuku) "Aikido is fake?" Can an aikido master
really throw morbidly obese Sumo wrestlers around the dojo?

Aikido stops knife attack, Berlin, 1924
Aikido
(Shinjitai 合気道, Kyūjitai 合氣道, aikidō) is a modern Japanese martial art that is split into many different styles including Aikikai, Shodokan Aikido, Yoshinkan, Renshinkai, Iwama Ryu, Iwama Shin Shin Aiki Shuren Kai, and Ki Aikido.

Aikido is now practiced in 140 countries [1]. It was originally developed by Master Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of his martial studies, Eastern philosophy, and Shintoist religious beliefs.

Meaning: how not to hurt the opponent
.
Aikido Founder Morihei Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves against attacks, while also protecting the attackers from injury [2, 3].

Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy" [4] or as "the way of harmonious spirit" [5]. According to the founder's philosophy, the primary goal in the practice of aikido is to overcome oneself instead of cultivating violence or aggressiveness [6].

Aikido's founder used the phrase masakatsu agatsu katsuhayabi (正勝吾勝勝速日, "true victory, final victory over oneself, here and now") to refer to this principle [7].

How to put aggressor down without hurting him
Aikido's fundamental principles include: irimi [8] ("entering"), atemi ("strikes") [9, 10], kokyu-ho ("breathing control"), sankaku-ho ("triangular principle"), and tenkan ("turning") movements that redirect the opponent's own attack momentum.

Aikido's curriculum is comprised of various techniques, primarily throws and joint locks [11]. It includes a weapons system encompassing the bokken, tantō, and .

Jujitsu (and rifles) in an agricultural school
Aikido derives mainly from the martial art of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu (a form of jujitsu) but began to diverge from it in the late 1920s, partly due to Ueshiba's involvement with the new Shinto-based Ōmoto-kyō religion (Oomoto). Ueshiba's early students' documents bear the term aiki-jūjutsu [12].

You too can learn to fight (UK)
Aikido
as practiced by Ueshiba's senior students take different approaches to the art, depending partly on when they studied with the master.

Aikido today is found all over the world in a number of styles, with broad ranges of interpretation and emphasis. However, they all share techniques formulated by Ueshiba and most have concern for the well-being of the attacker. More

French pole vaulter gets porn offer

Hun, we don't need any more vases.
The Olympics are a nasty business, even back in ancient Greek days. The Greeks came up with the gymnasium, from gymnos or "nude," a nasium (training facility) for nudity, where older married men went to:
  • ogle younger single men,
  • form gay relationships with them involving pederasty,
  • stand around naked in front of each other while oiling their bodies,
  • training or socializing, pursuing intellectual and physical hobbies,
  • getting rub downs, showing off wealth and status, and what not.
Bi Greek bearded man kisses boy (Louvre)
We really just watch to see cute athletes in leotards and form fitting bikinis, tights, and swimsuits jumping around, trying to make their country proud. China was No. 1 in Paris, but no American could say so. Patriotism depends on blind devotion. And the Chinese may have been cheating by juicing with steroids, rumor has it.

The original Olympics Games were, it is said, played in birthday suits -- naked, nude, without clothes. No females got to play, and they probably weren't allowed in the audience either. One is reminded of the gay hit song It was a Greek gay fest.

What went wrong?
Does no one think it ironic that he has a wrap-around snake tattoo on his bicep?
.
(Page Six) French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati speaks out after his "bulge" (schwanz, wang chung, full monty, johnson, package) cost him an Olympic medal. Losing due to his clumsy knee and slo-mo "boing" has gotten him an offer from an adult website.

If you don't reign it in, that snake will ruin you.
Aug. 6, 2024 (12:05 pm) "When one door closes, another one opens," it is said. Ammirati was left disappointed after his “big” slug, shlomo, shank, pocket pool stick cost him an Olympic medal.

The French pole vaulter went viral losing over the weekend after failing to clear the bar because his knees and crotch got in the way — eliminating him from competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Take the money and run [all the way to Bhutan]?
However, the unfortunate circumstance may have opened up other opportunities for Mr. A. as he was offered a quarter of a million dollars ($250K) to show off his manhood for 60 minutes.

Golden Simone Biles does it again!

The hardworking gymnasts of Team USA, Paris Olympics 2024 (msn.com)
.
Simone Biles Owens is in danger of draining world gold supplies to make her more medals as she takes gold again today in overall performance. What must MyKayla Skinner be thinking? Biles Owens is not the only one making a spectacular showing at the Paris Olympics, but she is the most decorated gymnast ever. At 27, she is about to retire and seems to be ensuring that no one will surpass her anytime soon.

Greatest American for a day: Simone Biles

Team USA raises the American flag after winning gold with Simone Biles Owens in the center

Back, long ago, before Paris, Team USA succeeded. And now Simone Biles wins gold (CNN).
Team USA's Jade Carey (left), Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Simone Biles celebrate after winning gold during the gymnastics team final at Bercy Arena on Tuesday in Paris (Wally Skalij/LA Times).
.
Look, Everybody, I can fly! Gymnast Biles in air
(LA Times) Fans at Bercy Arena wore white T-shirts with the Olympic rings printed across the front. Each ring featured a photo of a U.S. gymnast inside. Underneath, there was a single word: “Redemption.”
This felt like more. It was relief. It was a release. It was gold. The four members of the Olympic team who remembered their Tokyo disappointments rewrote their narratives by leading the United States of America back to gold with a dominant wire-to-wire performance in the team final on Tuesday.

Finishing with an untouchable 171.296 score, the north Americans ran across the floor after Simone Biles clinched the victory on floor, raising the U.S. flag to all sides of the arena and posing for photos.
Three years after withdrawing in the Olympic final because of "mental health" concerns, Biles blew a kiss to the crowd as she saluted the judges after her floor routine. More:

I don't like this slave Jesse Owens fellow.
Her name is Simone [Aryan] Biles OWENS? And no one has noticed the similarity to that other great Olympian, Jesse Owens? He humiliated Hitler, Nazi officials, and white supremacists everywhere as a Black American beating the "master" race and others while Adolf and colleagues sat in the stands having to explain it to themselves. That was the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Blacks are better at sports? Diverse Americans are better than monochromatic Germans?

Ha, ha, Hitler! Eat this flag. This one's for Jesse Owens, furor! Go, Team USA, go!

Give us SPORTS! Who needs Dharma?

Wait, what is the Dharma again? It is the Buddha's Teaching about what is real and unreal and how to become enlightened to see all things as they truly are, to awaken to the utmost reality. The dharma refers to timeless Truths that govern our lives if we fail to pay attention or remain distracted until it's too late to make any progress in calm or insight.

Science: Can DANCING cure depression?

Olivia Hebert, LA based correspondent (The Independent, 2/22/24); Fall Out Boy, "Dance Dance"; Pat Macpherson, Dhr. Seven, Ananda (Dharma Buddhist Meditation), Wisdom Quarterly

I was like this. Then I got up, started moving...
What did the ancients know that we have forgotten? They, too, had bodies like this, only they used them. They moved them. They kept them moving, particularly in patterned, synchronized ways with others.

and someone saw me and joined in.
Social dancing, or even isolated moving around, seems to get the mind going rather than stagnating, ruminating, and falling into an abysmal emotional state. Release. Move. Reach catharsis. And most of all, have fun.

This just in: scientific discovery made by eggheads in a lab wearing white coats and very stiffly avoiding physical contact: New study says dancing is the best exercise to combat depression.*

It's not just for the kids, Agnes! - Oh, you're right, Herbert. I feel better already! Ha ha ha!
Wait, White Man only now figuring out it's joyful to move to drumbeat and feel elation?
.
Kathleen and Bree use yoga, dance, breath, sound
At Yogini Bree's Process Class, we always have a component of freeform dancing, just jumping around with some Huhs!. Guess she was onto something even without a science degree and university lab.

Even Johann Hari saw that there was something wrong in the way our civilization -- motivated by capitalist Big Pharma corporations to keep us sick and dependent on symptom alleviation -- was approaching the darkest emotionally fraught mental illness from which we suffer.

Why You're Depressed: How...
The corporations were never going to solve, never going to let a "cure" get out their and ruin their business plans.

There's a cure for diabetes, too, but one never hears about it. It's nutritional, getting enough natural chromium GTF (not fake picolinate) grown on nutritional yeast. Yeast overgrowth a problem?

There are cures for candida and other gut issues. Reforming the diet to leave out all the depression-inducing (after a little false pick-me-up from) processed sugars and starches like white flour and all gluten.

Are We Addicted to Feeling Bad?
These things are available from criticalhealthnews.com, which came up with a product it calls "Sweet Ease" particularly for diabetics and prediabetics.

But who the Hades would want that if allopathic sorcery medicine promises us that we can just pop overpriced synthetic chemical in pill form to overwork our livers instead?
  • What does the latest scientific study reveal and say about exercise?
New study says dancing is best exercise to combat depression
What can dancing possibly offer a human?
(The Independent) A new study indicates that dancing is one of the best forms of treatment for depression.

Australian researchers have published a study that shows that the best form of exercise to treat depression is dancing, beating out several exercises including yoga, walking, jogging, tai chi, and strength training among others.

The meta study aimed to identify what kind of exercise would be best for treating major depressive disorder, either in tandem with another treatment or compared to the [commonplace and failed] prescription of psychotherapy and antidepressants.

Through 218 different studies with 14,170 participants, the researchers found that moderate reductions were made across the board with exercise, more so than simply prescribing participants with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). More

Psychedelics psilocybin (magic mushrooms), DMT, ketamine (Special K) also help (MAPS).
