Greatest American for a day: Simone Biles

Team USA raises the American flag after winning gold with Simone Biles Owens in the center

Back, long ago, before Paris, Team USA succeeded. And now Simone Biles wins gold (CNN).
Team USA's Jade Carey (left), Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Simone Biles celebrate after winning gold during the gymnastics team final at Bercy Arena on Tuesday in Paris (Wally Skalij/LA Times).
.
Look, Everybody, I can fly! Gymnast Biles in air
(LA Times) Fans at Bercy Arena wore white T-shirts with the Olympic rings printed across the front. Each ring featured a photo of a U.S. gymnast inside. Underneath, there was a single word: “Redemption.”
This felt like more. It was relief. It was a release. It was gold. The four members of the Olympic team who remembered their Tokyo disappointments rewrote their narratives by leading the United States of America back to gold with a dominant wire-to-wire performance in the team final on Tuesday.

Finishing with an untouchable 171.296 score, the north Americans ran across the floor after Simone Biles clinched the victory on floor, raising the U.S. flag to all sides of the arena and posing for photos.
Three years after withdrawing in the Olympic final because of "mental health" concerns, Biles blew a kiss to the crowd as she saluted the judges after her floor routine. More:

I don't like this slave Jesse Owens fellow.
Her name is Simone [Aryan] Biles OWENS? And no one has noticed the similarity to that other great Olympian, Jesse Owens? He humiliated Hitler, Nazi officials, and white supremacists everywhere as a Black American beating the "master" race and others while Adolf and colleagues sat in the stands having to explain it to themselves. That was the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Blacks are better at sports? Diverse Americans are better than monochromatic Germans?

Ha, ha, Hitler! Eat this flag. This one's for Jesse Owens, furor! Go, Team USA, go!

Biden's State of the Union speech: RFK Jr.

(Robert F. Kennedy Jr) RFK Jr.: "How I see the State of Our Union," March 7, 2024: #Kennedy24 #SOTU. LEARN MORE: kennedy24.com

(Status Coup News) Top 5 batshit GOP meltdowns from Biden's State of the Union speech in D.C.
  • Conspiracy theory: What did they shoot up Biden's body-double to be so energetic and shouting with only a few demented and senile slipups? Coke? Adrenochrome? Late night pizza (*wink-wink*) the night before so he'd have a good night's sleep and be well rested? Not only did he arrive late like Joe Kool (aka Snoopy), hung around for 45 afterward because the networks won't go to the Republican rebuttal until he leaves the building. And Rep. Katie Britt, 42, failed to wow; in fact, she brought shame upon the GOP with her down-hominess from the kitchen, a big Republican misstep. So if Trump loses, maybe it wasn't another stolen election with rigged machines, just 90 criminal charges and so many losses that he could afford to lose no more.
Lauren Boebert had a tough time in high school
While Republican Lauren Boebert sat on her hands, sad about her criminal son facing five felony charges, Rep. (GA) Marjorie Taylor Greene kept it interesting as she spoke to the president before his stump speech SOTU. Then she shouted him down for lying or exaggerating, cutting him off, causing a ruckus and fracas. Lol. Genocide Joe, or one of his body doubles, did a great job, except for about three or four stumbles, mumbling incoherently, deer in the headlights, before coming out of it again and carrying on. Good job.

The Simpsons predicted pandemic? (cartoon)

If it was planned and predicted, it was a "plandemic" like that banned movie said so. Watch on BitChute.com. It's a damning portrayal of corrupt Big Pharma complicit with the military-industrial complex and corporate media. The Simpsons are used to preview future events with limited disclosure. This strange process and the unbelievable motive behind it are referred to as "predictive programming."

Bernie's Iowa; Trump's revenge (comedy)

Seth Meyers (Late Show, 2/5/20); Seth Auberon, Pfc. Sandoval (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Bernie beat Buttigieg, but Petey takes credit for DNC manipulation that screws Sanders
(Late Night) "Politics makes strange bedfellows." We never thought we'd have anything good to say about Mittens Romney (his real name) or bad to say about Peter Booty-judge (not his real name).

Senate GOP, except for Romney, acquits Trump in predicted removal from office trial
If the DNC screws me again, I'll back Biden!
Seth Meyers takes A Closer Look at Senate Republicans completing their cover-up of impeached (officially indicted) President Trump’s crimes today when they acquitted him after a removal from office/impeachment trial that banned witnesses because what he did wrong was not in question. The only thing in question was whether or not he should be removed from office for it. Watch Late Night with Seth Meyers weeknights 12:35/11:35c on NBC.

"Seinfeld: How It Began" (video)

Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David (Pinkskies21); NYT; Sheldon S., Crystal Q. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Jerry Seinfeld is coming back to the Beacon Theater. “It’s my vision of what I consider to be the ideal stand-up experience,” he said (Landon Nordeman for The New York Times)
Think it'll read too Jewish for Middle America? - They love Hollywood, why not NY?
Note the thick Buddhist translation by Jewish-American Bhikkhu Bodhi behind Larry David.
.
How did it all begin, Jerry?
Jerry Seinfeld is back for 2019. But let's look at Seinfeld: How It Began, the documentary. Seinfeld is a very Jewish American TV sitcom that ran for nine seasons on NBC, 1989-1998. It was created by Jewish stand up comedians Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, with Seinfeld starring as a fictionalized version of himself. Set predominantly in an apartment in New York City, in Manhattan's Upper West Side (though filmed in the Valley in Los Angeles), the show features a handful of Jerry Seinfeld's friends and acquaintances. Best friend George Costanza (Jason Alexander), former girlfriend Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and neighbor across the hall Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), it is often described as being "a show about nothing," as many of its episodes are about the minutiae of daily life. It was produced by Castle Rock. More

Would Woody like it?
In some ways, the world of Jerry Seinfeld is the same as it ever was. He’s still the singularly recognizable stand-up, the star and co-creator of his eponymous TV sitcom and the host of a Netflix talk show, “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.” At 64, he is still playing dozens of live dates a year and, on Friday, announced the return of his residency at the Beacon Theater with 20 new shows in 2019. But the comedy world that Seinfeld inhabits is in a tumultuous period. While some performers feel uneasy about what they can or can’t say onstage, several prominent stars have been disgraced by scandals of their own making. [Rapist] Bill Cosby, once one of Seinfeld’s creative heroes, was convicted of sexual assault... More

Megyn Kelly: fake, failure, $69 million mistake

Cheyenne Roundtree (dailymail.co.uk); CC Liu, C. Quintero, S. Auberon, Wisdom Quarterly
I'm not worried. I'm locked in to my $69 million whether we film or not. Ha ha, NBC suckers.
I thought we had an exciting launch.
DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE: NBC's "$69 MILLION mistake!" NBC network executives slam the floundering Megyn Kelly as they reveal she is earning $23M yearly in a three-year deal for her morning show -- rivaling the salaries of Matt Lauer and Jimmy Fallon.
  • Megyn Kelly is raking in $23mil a year for her new NBC morning show and is locked in for the next three years, DailyMailTV exclusively revealed.
  • Network executives have slammed the former Fox News host saying that her salary is 'obscene' and a 'slap in the face' to other NBC veteran stars.
  • Matt Lauer, who has been at NBC for 23 years, has an estimated salary of $25m, Jimmy Fallon, who is host of a popular late night show, earns around $15m.
  • One high-ranking insider said: "How on earth can they justify paying her $69m for three years?"
  • Another added: "The network that created Barbara Walters, Tom Brokaw, and Matt Lauer will now forever be remembered for the $69m hire of Megyn Kelly."
  • The 46-year-old left Fox News in January and launched her new mid-morning program in late September.
  • Kelly's show has dipped in the ratings, and she has been excoriated for [her fakeness and] not connecting with her audience and awkward guest encounters.
  • The latest ratings report reveals that Kelly's show on Wednesday had a low viewership, a 1.5 overall rating and a .08 rating among women 25 to 54.
NBC executives not involved in her hiring are furious over Megyn Kelly's "obscene" $23 million salary for her tanking morning show and think it's a slap in the face to other established stars at the network, DailyMailTV has exclusively revealed.

Although it was rumored the former Fox News anchor was only being paid $17 million for her new role at NBC, Kelly will actually line her pockets with a total of $69 million over the course of three years for swapping politics for talk show antics.

Her hefty salary has drawn the scorn of senior NBC and Comcast executives who believe the 46-year-old shouldn't be raking in more than the network's veteran stars. More

Sean Connery, Justin Bieber, Tony Bennett, and "Turd Ferguson." -- Of all the franchise sketches to reappear on SNL 40 Sunday night, "Celebrity Jeopardy" may have been the best. There was Will Ferrell in a bad suit and even worse tie as perpetually pissed-off Alex Trebek. There was Darrell Hammond as (a slightly fleshier) Sean Connery, taunting Trebek from the first scene. There was Alec Baldwin nailing Tony Bennett. Kate McKinnon and Jim Carrey perfected their already-stellar impressions of Justin Bieber and Matthew McConaughey, respectively. And then Norm MacDonald steamrolled in as Burt Reynolds/Turd Ferguson, big hat and all. More

Tibet Protests as Chinese Olympics begin

Olympics Open with Spotlight on Chinese Culture
(Away from worldwide pro-Tibet protests)
.
Blood Olympics 08-08-08
Preliminary transcripts: Tonight, far from the opening ceremony, the Olympics are prompting thousands of Tibetans to protest what they refer to as the "blood Olympics" as thirteen-hundred Tibetan refugees are purportedly... [Listen to latest NPR audio]
Protest Zones, in theory, at least
The Chinese government has designated three Beijing parks for approved protests. Would-be demonstrators must apply at least five days in advance. Expect plenty of open space in those parks during the games.
.
National Public Radio (NPR) Morning Edition, August 8, 2008 · Beijing is ready for the Olympics. That's what organizers said Friday, hours before the opening ceremony, which began at an especially auspicious time: 8:08 p.m. on the eighth day of the eighth month in the year 2008. Eight is a lucky number in China.

The festivities began with a chain of fireworks from Tiananmen Square in central Beijing to National Stadium, nicknamed the Bird's Nest, on the northern edge of the city. Details of the ceremony have been "a closely guarded secret," NPR's Howard Berkes, who is in Beijing, tells Renee Montagne.
Ceremony watchers won't see dancing cross-dressers or a lawn mower drill team, which performed in Sydney in 2000. There won't be cowboys and Mormon pioneers, as there were in Salt Lake City in 2002. And no half-naked Greek gods, like in Athens four years ago.

"Olympic hosts like to celebrate the unique aspect of their culture," Berkes says. "And for the Chinese, this is an opportunity to introduce the world to a China that many Chinese believe is maligned and misunderstood."...

In the past two days, Berkes says, the security presence in Beijing has increased. There are soldiers with metal detectors, guards with bomb-sniffing dogs, and dozens of soldiers with riot shields. About 100,000 police and soldiers are on duty in the city....Amid pollution, protests, and impressive pomp and circumstance, the curtains rise Friday on the XXIX Summer Olympics in Beijing....
.
While athletes settled into the high-rise residential apartments of Olympic Village, protesters staged demonstrations elsewhere, criticizing China's human rights policies at home and abroad. For the next 16 days, the world will be bombarded with a similar mixture of diplomacy and sweat. Thousands of athletes will compete in an array of sports.... Read full NPR story

Olympics put NBC in Bind:
Will News Division Cover Protests?
By David Folkenflik
Morning Edition, August 7, 2008 · NBC has a lot at stake in the 2008 Olympic Games. That includes the reputation of the network's news division and its bottom line. Its position is complicated by the fact that NBC's role in the Olympics is one of observer and partner.
