Jimmy Kimmel returns as Trump rages

Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! returns to ABC after suspension | LIVE outside Kimmel Theater | N18G
Heads will roll at the FCC for this! Disney!
(CNBC-TV18) Started streaming Tuesday, Sept. 23 (day of The Rapture) - HOLLYWOOD, California - We are live outside the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" theater (Masonic Lodge) in Tinsel Town, Los Angeles. Kimmel's late-night talk show is to resume airing tonight. He arrived around 11:00 am to prepare to videotape the program. The comedian's show was suspended after accusing Kirk's shooter of being MAGA [and because Nexstar wants to merge with Tegna, Inc. to gain market share, reaching 80% of households rather than the legally-limited 39% it currently controls, and Sinclair Broadcasting is also involved, dealing with Trump's FCC head Brendan Carr]. Kimmel will return after a massive boycott of Disney and Hulu by the free speech loving American public.

Disney, which owns the US broadcast network that airs Jimmy Kimmel Live, said on Monday that it suspended the show because it "felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive." "We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday," Disney said. The comic's abrupt suspension came after threats by the federal TV regulator (FCC's Carr) to revoke ABC's broadcast license, sparking nationwide debates over free speech.

.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! tapes live from the Hollywood Masonic Temple on Hollywood Blvd. near Grauman's Chinese Theater with a studio audience of people in town to see Hollywood and locals.

On Feb. 21, 2024, Kimmel hinted that he may not renew his contract for further seasons after his current contract expires in May 2026 in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, stating that "I think this is my final contract. I hate to even say it because everyone's laughing at me now — each time I think that, and then it turns out to be not the case. I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good, that seems like enough" [23][24].

2025 suspension
Trump's minor stroke and face drooping
On Sept. 17, 2025, during an interview on right wing Benny Johnson's podcast, Trump's FCC chair Brendan Carr warned that action could be taken against ABC for humorous remarks by Kimmel during the monologue of the previous night's episode, in which he stated that the "MAGA gang" was "desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it" [25].

FCC Chair Carr called Kimmel's comments "truly sick” and said his agency "has a strong case for holding Kimmel, ABC, and network parent Walt Disney Co. accountable for spreading misinformation," arguing that Kimmel "appeared to be making an intentional effort to mislead the public that Kirk’s assassin was a right-wing Trump supporter" [26] [which would make it disinformation if that were the case].

MAGA, Kirk comments as pretext
Hail Fearless Leader Commander-in-Chief Trunf! All hail! Round up those who didn't hail.
.
Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group both announced after the warning that they would pre-empt the show [show something else in its place] from their ABC affiliate stations indefinitely allegedly in response to Kimmel's [unforgiveable and "truly sick"] comments [27][28][29] [which most people did not think were that bad or too far from the mark].

Trump cares so much about Kirk that he sent AI
Shortly afterward, ABC announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would be suspended indefinitely [25][30]. Nexstar stated that its original decision was made unilaterally and was not influenced by any correspondence with the FCC or other agencies.

However, it was pointed out that Nexstar has been seeking FCC approval for the acquisition of fellow television broadcaster Tegna, Inc. [31][32].

Deadline reported that Kimmel had refused to apologize but had planned to clarify his comments and specifically call out Trump supporters on that night's episode, and that ABC "hope[d] that it will be able to have Kimmel back on the air 'soon,' per sources, but whether Kimmel himself is willing is also unclear" [33].

Variety described the suspension as coming after "several prominent conservatives have called for any critic of [Kirk's] work to be silenced, no matter how nuanced the argument may be" [34][35].

CNN reported that Disney employees and Kimmel's staff received death threats following Carr's remarks and were doxxed [personally exposed] on social media and that the safety of employees and advertisers was a consideration.

However, Disney said they were reportedly "hopeful" that Kimmel's show will return [36] soon. It returns tonight, Sept. 23, 2025, shortly after massive financial fallout for Disney Corporation, with many Americans cancelling their subscriptions to Disney+ and the corporation's stock tumbling in value to the tune of a $4,000,000,000 loss.

With billions at stake and massive fallout from Hollywood luminaries and ordinary citizens and subscribers to deal with, Disney (which owns ABC) made nice and brought Kimmel right back less than a week after his initial suspension. What will Kimmel do to retaliate?

He didn't pay for our forgiveness, Charlie.
Will he make more jokes or follow the normal course of repeating jokes from the pool all the late-night hosts (Colbert, Meyers, Fallon, etc.) seem to use nowadays but with his own spin.

The past week, the joke everyone has been doing is exaggerated deference to the Orange Fuhrer, Dictator Trump, and the FCC Gestapo. One can only hope for a little apology, rising above the fray, and then digging into Trump on a nightly basis as usual. More

Final season of comedy "Reservation Dogs"

Xochitl, Dhr. Seven, Crystal Quintero (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Reservation Dogs is the funning Native American comedy that has ever existed (FX/Hulu).

Reservation Dogs | Season 3 official trailer | FX
(FX Networks) July 6, 2023. This is the official trailer for FX’s Reservation Dogs, the final season. Streaming August 2, 2023, only on Hulu.
From Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, Reservation Dogs is a half-hour comedy that follows the exploits of four Indigenous teenagers from rural Oklahoma.

This season, the Rez Dogs find themselves stranded in Cali and have to figure out their way back home. Season 3 is full of road trips, bathroom wisdom, unexpected fathers, boarding schools, Bigfoot, rumors, revenge, and healing.

Rez Dogs: Paulina Alexis as Willie Jack, Devery Jacobs as Elora Danan, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai as Bear, and Lane Factor as Cheese (Shane Brown/FX)
.
As a critic who didn't catch on to coming-of-age comedy Reservation Dogs until recently, I was a little confused at the start of the new season — which plunges right into a moment where Bear Smallhill, backed by his three friends, tries connecting with his deadbeat father in a dumpy apartment in California.

Fortunately, we have a little help processing it all from a bizarrely charismatic source: William Knifeman, the spirit of a Native American warrior who died at Little Big Horn and occasionally breaks the fourth wall, apologizing for the hectic pace of the first episode's start.

"I know I threw a lot at you in the first few minutes," says Knifeman, played with a slacker's ease by Dallas Goldtooth, a Native American activist who co-wrote the episode with series showrunner Sterlin Harjo.

"You have to trust me. I'm an Indigenous storyteller to the bone. I'm like a Greek chorus with a loincloth." D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Dallas Goldtooth (Shane Brown/FX).

At this point, Knifeman lifts up his loincloth to reveal an area blurred out by producers. Thank goodness.

An unassuming comedy with a powerful message, Reservation Dogs is a deft comedy hiding inside a scrappy, in-your-face character study, focused on a group of Native American teenagers searching for their place in the world.

At times as informal as an indie film, the performances here are so nuanced and authentic, it can feel like watching a ridiculously entertaining documentary.

Viewers of the second season know [potheads] Bear and his friends -- known as the Rez Dogs -- left their home in Oklahoma for California to fulfill a dream of their friend Daniel who died by suicide.

The new episodes pick up at about that same time, as a relative of one of the Rez Dogs shows up in California to take them back home. More

I "love" you, America - Sarah Silverman (audio)

Joshua Johnson (The1A.org); Ashley Wells, Dhr. Seven, Sheldon S. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

.
She's still Sarah Silverman, the outrageous, gorgeous, liberal, Jewish, risque (sometimes vulgar but always funny) female stand up comic, who once dated the fat Catholic comic Jimmy Kimmel (a relationship that informed her amazing movie, Jesus is Magic). She's still our favorite comedienne! And in her new Hulu show, "I Love You, America," the open minded comedian takes on topics at the heart of our national divide. She was interviewed by Joshua Johnson on a great new show on SoCal Public Radio (one of LA's two NPR stations) called "1A" on March 6, 2018. Sarah Silverman Loves America...and the people in it.

Sean Connery, Justin Bieber, Tony Bennett, and "Turd Ferguson." -- Of all the franchise sketches to reappear on SNL 40 Sunday night, "Celebrity Jeopardy" may have been the best. There was Will Ferrell in a bad suit and even worse tie as perpetually pissed-off Alex Trebek. There was Darrell Hammond as (a slightly fleshier) Sean Connery, taunting Trebek from the first scene. There was Alec Baldwin nailing Tony Bennett. Kate McKinnon and Jim Carrey perfected their already-stellar impressions of Justin Bieber and Matthew McConaughey, respectively. And then Norm MacDonald steamrolled in as Burt Reynolds/Turd Ferguson, big hat and all. More

Explaining Evolution (cartoon)

Christian and scientific debate continues regarding the origins of life. See the Big Bang theory and the theory of evolution discussed in Buddhist and Eastern terms and through the pages of Wikipedia with ongoing Wisdom Quarterly coverage:

Hulu better than YouTube?

When it comes to offering full-length content on the Web, YouTube isn't ready to lose to Hulu. [This comes as it is enjoying a huge surge due to British songstress Susan Boyle (pictured above) teaching Simon Cowell a lesson in humility (see "Simpsons" clip below). WQ debates which site to utilize.]

Yesterday, Google's California-based video site announced that it had reached agreement with notable entertainment companies, including Sony Pictures, Lions Gate Entertainment, and CBS (publisher of CNET News) to offer visitors full-length TV shows and feature films.

What this means is that YouTube wants to become a one-stop shop for everything video. The strategy seems obvious. YouTube already has more than 100 million people visiting every month to watch a mixture of short clips created by amateurs and longer clips by semiprofessionals. More>>
