The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism (Andrew Harvey) is the inspiration for our participation in the Occupy Movement in Los Angeles, Wisdom Quarterly contributor Laura Murphy was explaining on the radio today.
Together with Cat Gwynn, a fellow member of Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society, Laura Murphy of folk-fusion ensemble The 2012s was on the radio today spreading the word about continuing Occupy events like today's "Occupy the Light" music and spirituality action in Pershing Square (4:30-7:30 pm).
It begins at 3:00 pm with a remembrance of a homeless man killed on Skid Row. The InterFaith Occupy Committee will not stand by while injustice leads to people getting killed on the streets with no one paying attention. For whom the bell tolls? It tolls for all of us, even the 1% that calls itself the MIC (military-industrial complex).
"They call it the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it," an Occupy sign reads, stemming it seems from something George Carlin once said. The 1% wants us to dream on. "Independent Thinking" New Dissident Radio exists to help awaken us, aiming to bring understanding where there is none.
