Summer Solstice: summer begins (6/21)

(Wye Explorer) Stonehenge Summer Solstice 2026 | Over 20,000 Welcome the Sun

It occurs to us that this whole "summer" thing is a social construct. It is. What does "summer" mean. There are all those associations and connotations, but everyone knows it's when the sun's out, the clothes are mostly off, school is on break, and there's going to be a vacation, road trip, partying, and just plain old hanging around, maybe making some money.

It's a break from the routine. It's time away from the prison of the school system and the [bleep] warden who thinks s/he runs the place. Think of Project X or American Graffiti. Ah, summer, there's nothing like it. And this is Southern California, so all the more reason.

We say summer begins when school lets out. That was a week or two ago. Like gender assignment, who needs an objective measure? Well, many people do. And so we have the solstice, the astronomical measure that seems so scientific. But every American knows that summer begins on Memorial Day (May 25); that's the social reality overriding whatever others try to say is only objective and nothing else. It's both.

It runs through Labor Day (the unofficial end), a fake American holiday to remove Americans from the worldwide Labor Movement and May Day (May 1st), which idealistic socialists fight for, collectivists dream of, and New Age communists and college Marxists cheer for.

Why I won't eat eggs anymore (sutra)

(Death and Dairy Girl aka Steak and Butter Gal) Fake eggs? Farmer exposes what they are now quietly putting in eggs to increase profits and destroy our health
SUTRA: Oh, Buddha, should we be eating eggs?
Silanisamsa Jataka: "A Good Friend" (Jat 190)

The Buddha told this birth story (jataka) at Jetavana Monastery about a pious lay follower.

One evening, when this faithful disciple came to the bank of the Aciravati River on his way to Jetavana to hear the Buddha, there was no ferryboat at the landing. The ferrymen had all pulled their boats onto the farther shore and had themselves gone to hear the Buddha speak.

However, the disciple's mind was so full of delightful thoughts about the Buddha that even though he walked onto the river, his feet did not sink below the surface: He walked across the water as if on dry land.

But when he noticed the waves as he reached the middle of the river, his ecstasy [absorption] subsided and his feet began to sink.

As soon as he again focused his mind on the qualities of the Buddha, his feet rose [levitated, floated] and he was able to continue walking filled with rapture over the water.

When he arrived at Jetavana, he paid his respects to the Buddha and took a seat respectfully to one side.

"Good layman," the Buddha said to that disciple, "I hope you had no mishap on your way here."

"Venerable sir," the disciple recounted, "while on my way here, I was so absorbed in thoughts of [the excellent qualities of] the Buddha that, when I came to the river, I was able to walk across it as though it were solid."

"Friend," said the Blessed One, "you're not the only one who has been protected in this way. In olden days pious lay followers were shipwrecked mid-ocean and saved themselves by remembering the virtues of the Buddha."

At the man's request, the Buddha told this story of the past:

Long, long ago, at the time of the Buddha Kassapa [3], a lay disciple who had already entered the path [who had become a stream enterer] booked passage on a ship along with one of his friends, a rich barber. The barber's wife asked this disciple to look after her husband.

A week after the ship left port, it sank mid-ocean. The two friends saved themselves by hanging onto a wooden plank until they were cast onto a deserted island.

Killing eggs and birds

Famished, the barber took eggs from nests [the island being a rookery], killed some birds, cooked them, and offered a share of his meal to the follower of the Buddha Kassapa.

"No, thank you," that [partially enlightened disciple] answered, "I'm fine." Then he thought to himself, "In this isolated place, there is no help for us except the Three Gems [the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Enlightened/Noble Sangha]."

As he sat meditating on the Three Gems, a naga king (naga-raja, reptilian, dragon, royal serpent) who had been reborn on that island transformed himself into a beautiful ship filled with the seven precious things [4]. Its three masts were made of sapphire, the planks and anchor of gold, and the ropes of silver.

The helmsman, who was a spirit of the sea, stood on the deck and cried, "Any passengers for Jambudīpa?"

"Yes," the lay disciple answered. "That's where we're bound!"

"Then come onboard," the sea spirit told him.

The layman climbed aboard the beautiful ship and turned to call his friend the barber.

"You may come," the sea spirit said, "but he may not."

"Why not?" the disciple asked.

"He is not a follower of the pure life," answered the sea spirit. "I brought this ship for you, but not for him."

"In that case," the layman announced, "all the gifts I have given, all the virtues I have practiced, all the powers I have developed — I give the fruit of all of them to him!"

"Thank you, Master!" cried the barber.

"Very well," said the sea spirit, "now I can take you both onboard."

The ship carried the two men over the sea and up the Ganges River. After depositing them safely at their home in Baranasi [Varanasi], the sea spirit used his magic power to create enormous wealth for both of them. Then, poising himself mid-air, he instructed the men and their friends: "Keep company with the wise and good."

"If this barber had not been in company with this pious layman, he would have perished in the middle of the ocean." Finally, the sea spirit returned to his own abode, taking the naga king with him.

Having finished this discourse, the Buddha identified the birth tale (jataka) and taught the Dhamma, after which the pious layman in front of him entered the fruit of the second path.

"On that occasion," the Buddha said, "that faithful disciple attained the fruit of the fourth path (arahantship). Sariputta was the naga king, and I myself was the spirit of the sea." Source

Protection from Hidden Chemical Toxins

David William Steinman, consumer advocate and investigative journalist, serves as director of the nonprofit Healthy Living Foundation, a public-interest environmental and consumer advocacy organization that takes legal action and litigates on behalf of consumers and the environment. He will reveal how popular products -- from shampoos to snack foods to cleaning products -- are contaminated with chemical toxins. He presents at the Red Pill Expo.
Raising Healthy Kids: Protecting Your Children from Hidden Chemical Toxins

Author David Steinman with foreword by Sharon C. Lavigne has 1.0 out of 5 stars with 1 rating so far (book released June 4, 2024).
  • The strangest part of this book is the chapter at the end about transgender kids. The author draws a connection between environmental toxins and gender dysphoria. Is our gender, self-image, sexual orientation, and phenotypical sex expression affected by artificial hormones (e.g., xenoestrogens), hormone blockers, and toxic pesticides like atrazine? Will performing surgery on healthy bodies solve these mind-body conflicts?
Diet for a Poisoned Planet
It is from the author of the groundbreaking bestseller Diet for a Poisoned Planet and The Safe Shopper's Bible: A Consumer's Guide to Nontoxic Household Products, Cosmetics, and Food with Samuel Epstein. This is a must-have book for every parent. Why? Every parent wonders:
  • Am I buying products for my child that are filled with chemical toxins?
This powerful new book, Raising Healthy Children, Director of the Chemical Toxin Working Group and one of America’s premier environmental activists Steinman shows how today’s most popular items —
  • breakfast cereal
  • bubble bath
  • cleaning products
  • snack (junk) foods
Mommy, why do toxins smell funny?
— are all contaminated with unacceptable levels of pesticides and chemical toxins [excipients, preservatives, flavor and texture enhancers, addictive agents], and he proposes alternatives and substitutes to keep families safe.

Steinman reveals never-before-seen test results for major brands like Johnsons & Johnsons, Kellogg, Tide, Clairol, and General Mills that identify exactly which products contain these dangerous ingredients.

The Safe Shopper's Bible: A Consumer's Guide
He casts a wide net, showing how beauty products and food items can cause reproductive health issues in pregnant women and that environmental exposures, particularly in schools, can have a profound impact on babies’ and children’s development.

Drawing on current research, illuminating vignettes, and inspiring stories of activism, Steinman provides action steps for parents in every chapter, giving the tools needed to shop for everyday products that are toxin-free and helping readers ask the right questions about their local schools and workplaces to determine their potential levels of exposure.

He writes, “The goal of this book is to show you how to keep you and your family safe and healthy.”

Silent Spring (Rachel Carson)
When Steinman published his acclaimed bestseller Diet for a Poisoned Planet, it was compared to Rachel Carson’s classic Silent Spring for bringing to light the chemical toxins in our food.

Now, more than 30 years later, Steinman brings readers up to date on the increased dangers we face in all aspects of our lives and teaches us how we can make smart choices to protect our ourselves and our children.

Raising Healthy Children is an inspiring, informative, and user-friendly book to help every family reduce their toxic exposures and ensure their health and well-being.

Happy (vegan) Pie Day! 3.14 (March 14)

Jamie Oliver (jamieoliver.com), Jan. 15, 2023; Imogen, Seven, Ananda (Dharma Buddhist Meditation), Bela (eds.), Vegan Test Kitchen, Wisdom Quarterly
Pi is important for math. Memorize it (3.14...) or use a Base 9 system and there's no need for it.

This recipe covers two days, Pi and Nat'l Pie
It's amazing what can be made into a vegan pie. Anything the American palette is used to is covered and already being done. There's no need to reinvent the compassion wheel. Just follow along on YouTube or on the websites of many vegan chefs and test kitchens. It's fun. And it's delicious. The animals thank you, and always remember EAT BEANS, NOT BEINGS.
  • There are plenty of alternatives to soy or wheat gluten, now more digestible, easier to assimilate, and gas and bloating are eliminated. Take with vegan digestive enzymes (and products like Beano and activated charcoal). Eat them sprouted, or soaked, drained, and prepared in a pressure cooker the way Dr. Steven Gundry recommends.
Vegan Shepherd's Pie | Chef Jamie Oliver
(Jamie Oliver) This vegan shepherd's pie is part of Chef Jamie's new, free, budget-friendly meal plan. It's a delicious meal designed to be good on the wallet without sacrificing any flavor. With sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, chickpeas, and lentils it's bound to be a favorite vegan hearty meal; perfect to warm up in the colder months.

Woke-leftists-for-Aubrey drink Wood Milk :)

Dr. Steve Turley; Earthling Ed; Crystal Q., CC Liu, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Supreme Nurturing Mother Tara
Would you drink Wood Milk? I would. It sounds good. I wood spread it all over gluten-free sorghum and brown rice pancakes or sip it through a bamboo straw with lots of ice. I might even add coconut tree fruit and turmeric, maybe some MudWtr powder or vegan spices and call it chai. Wood would be good, syrupy maple flavored or oak acorn jellified, all that protein once the tannins have been leeched out. Yum, wood! Try sustainably grown hearts of palm. Tell me if it's good.

C'mon, laugh. It's funny. Don't make me shoot.
Aubrey Plaza is joking. She's a funny comedienne. That's what she does. She gets paid for it, in this case by the cruel dairy industry. Cruel? It keeps cows in pens and artificially pregnant for years with infected teats, pumping pus-filled "animal milk" full of lactose that most adult humans in the world are intolerant of. We cannot digest it, so we get gassy and bloated, harming our insides.

Mammal milk is for babies before weaning, after which most of us no longer make lactase, the enzyme that digests lactose. Leave cow milk to baby cows.

The Goddess nurtures us like a cow her young.
Drink human milk if dairy is so appetizing. Or be earth-friendly and eat raw soaked (and drained) nuts blended to make white water. The best "plant-based mylk" is made out of raw hemp seeds and pure water. Add a handful to a few cups in a blender, frappe, and enjoy immediately. It has all the nutrition filthy bovine-lactations stolen from enslaved beasts of burden are claimed to have. Oops, are we sounding like "woke leftists" who care too much about mammals (human beings and animals) and the planet mammals live on? We better keep quiet and let Dr. T. bask in his own happiness.

Woke leftists melt down over mockery
Remember that time Sister Aubrey offended Catholics for playing a wayward nun?
.
"Woke leftists meltdown after actress roasts them in hilarious video!!!" claims right-winger Dr. Steve Turley back on May 17, 2023.

Aubrey Plaza is pretty whacky and often funny, as he pitches sale prices (66% off) on all Mike the MyPillow Guy Lindell’s products. (Use code TURLEY mypillow.com/turley).

Doc also encourages future insurrectionists and Capitol rioters to join his growing "Courageous Patriot Network" (group.turleytalks.com/insider...) ❤ . Then he goes on to celebrate as Prof. "Jordan Peterson TORCHES leftist on trans issues!!!" Dr. T. sure loves them exclamation marks.

Earthling Ed explains almond-milk-drinking Aubrey Plaza who was NOT out
to destroy veganism with pro-animal milk commercial she got paid to make.

Afghans, Gazans starve on World Food Day

NationalDayCalendar.com, Oct. 16, 2023; Crystal Q., Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
If the world went vegetarian, world hunger would be cured overnight and be healthier than ever.
.
Children suffer in US-war torn Afghanistan
World Food Day is held every year on Oct. 16th. On this day, more than 150 countries unite to raise awareness of the issues surrounding poverty and hunger. According to World Hunger Statistics, 785 million people across the planet do not have enough food to sustain a healthy life. The number equals about one in nine people in the world. Surprisingly, the majority of hungry people live in developing countries. Poor nutrition causes 45% of deaths in children under the age of 5. That means just over 3 million children a year die because they don't have access to enough nutritious food.

Craving crispy Kentucky air-fried tofu

Wise Chef, Compassionate Sous-Chef, Wisdom Quarterly Vegan Test Kitchen
It's crunchy, it's savory, it's soy-free, and no animal was killed to make it.

Plant-based chicken breasts: instacart.com
Crunchy? Yes. Crispy? Yes. Savory? Yes. Soy-free? Yes, here's how. First of all, not all tofu is made out of soy. In any case, it's not needed.

One of the best alternatives is from Lightlife.com (plant-based meats from LightLife®) that currently has "plant-based chicken strips and breasts" made out of chickpea flour, pea protein isolate, citrus fiber, and seasonings.

It's all right, Cluck and John! It's all animal-free.
It's as close as needed, and they are far from the only company coming up with gluten and soy-free alternatives, full of texture, protein, and flavor. Cube them, coat them, and enjoy the crunch.

It's good karma, preserving life over killing or causing others to kill. We've been raised to eat certain foods, flavors, and cooking methods. Most of them are not good but they can be made less harm, more nutritious, and a lot better for the flavor buds and environment. The Wisdom Quarterly Vegan Test Kitchen has tried them.

Pea protein burgers, grain free flours, savory assortments of herbs, Himalayan and ocean salts, sugar-free sweeteners, healthy fats (not rancid, deodorized, and stripped of everything like supermarket plastic bottle stuff of rendered animals) like hemp, olive fruit oil, virgin coconut, and many other new products, and bouillon cubes make any recipe possible.

How to save planet Earth (iHeart)

iHeartEarth - iHeartRadio; Ananda (DBM), Ashley Wells, Pfc. Sandoval (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

I'm making money saying I'm saving the world
Together, we have the power to change the world. Small Changes = One Big Healthier World.

Join millions of iHeartRadio listeners who are taking smarter, greener steps in their everyday lives to help protect our planet (Tierra, Gaia, Bhumi, Urth) -- while saving time and money!

Is it corporate greenwashing, as iHeart Corporation launches its "Earth" campaign because Earth Day must be on its way or spring is coming, or is it a sincere drop in the bucket by a big aggregator of radio diversity?

Either way, every little bit counts. So even if it's a world-ruining corporation behind it, we have to support our Bhumi/Earth and awaken and raise consciousness to better treat the people, animals, insects, and unseen beings that call this home.

SINCE 1880, GLOBAL SEA LEVEL HAS RISEN ABOUT EIGHT INCHES. SCIENTISTS EXPECT GLOBAL SEA LEVEL TO RISE ANOTHER ONE TO EIGHT FEET BY 2100. FROM 1990 TO 2016, THE NUMBER OF VEHICLE MILES TRAVELED (VMT) BY PASSENGER CARS AND LIGHT-DUTY TRUCKS INCREASED BY APPROXIMATELY 45%. ACCORDING TO EPA WATERSENSE, WATERLEAKS IN THE U.S. CAN ACCOUNT FOR MORE THAN 10,000 GALLONS OF WASTED WATER EVERY YEAR. BETWEEN 30 TO 40% OF FOOD GOES UNEATEN IN THE UNITED STATES. FOOD WASTE IS THE LARGEST COMPONENT OF U.S. LANDFILLS AT 22%. APPROXIMATELY 13% OF U.S. CARBON EMISSIONS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH GROWING, MANUFACTURING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING OF FOOD. ENERGY STAR LED LIGHT BULBS WILL USE AT LEAST 75% LESS ENERGY AND LAST 25X LONGER THAN OLD INCANDESCENT BULBS. RECYCLING A TON OF PAPER CAN SAVE THE ENERGY EQUIVALENT OF 166 GALLONS OF GASOLINE! AIR CONDITIONERS COST U.S. HOMEOWNERS MORE THAN $29 BILLION EACH YEAR. HOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

SAVE ENERGY
More than half of annual energy consumption for U.S. households is from just two uses -- space heating and air conditioning. Did you know air conditioners cost U.S. homeowners more than $29 billion each year? You can save time, money and help reduce energy-related CO2 emissions by making some quick and easy changes to your daily routine.

REDUCE FOOD WASTE
[Half the food produced in the USA ends up in the trash can and is never eaten. If we just avoided that, there would be no shortage.] Producing and transporting food from the farms to our tables requires the use of enormous amounts of energy, land, and water. Approximately 13% of U.S. carbon emissions are associated with growing, manufacturing, transporting and disposing of food. Follow these tips to reduce your food waste and impact on the environment, while saving time and money.

IMPROVE TRANSPORTATION
The U.S. transportation sector accounts for approximately 29% of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. If you use vehicles as a main mode of transportation, follow these tips to reduce your impact on the environment while saving money.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
[Pre-cycle, that is, anticipate what waste is going to be produced by a purchase or practice and modify it to not produce that waste.] The extraction, manufacturing, transportation, and disposal of all consumer products and packaging – excluding food – accounts for 29% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. For example, recycling paper allows it to be reused to make new paper products, reducing the number of trees and other natural resources used to make new paper.

CONSERVE WATER
Each day in the United States, about 27.4 billion gallons of water are withdrawn and delivered from surface water and groundwater sources for residential use, which includes water for drinking, washing clothes, flushing toilets, watering lawns, and more. Help save water and money. CLICK FOR TIPS

Better than cremation: human composting

Melody Gutierrez (Los Angeles Times, 9/18/22); Crystal Q., Sheldon S. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Finally, I can be good for earth's environment, allowing ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
.
California’s deceased will have a new burial option: Human composting
Melody Gutierrez
SACRAMENTO — California will finally begin allowing an alternative burial method known as human composting in 2027, under a bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday.

Assembly Bill 351 by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) will create a state regulatory process for natural organic reduction, a method in which human remains naturally decompose over a 30-to-45-day period after being placed in a steel vessel and buried in wood chips, alfalfa, and other biodegradable materials.

The nutrient-dense [non-toxic, formaldehyde-free] soil created by the process can then be returned to families or donated to conservation land.

Chief Exec Micah Truman (Jason Redmond/AFP)
Supporters say it’s an eco-friendly alternative to traditional end-of-life options.

Cremation, for example, is an energy-intense process that produces carbon dioxide emissions, while traditional burial uses chemicals to embalm bodies and a nonbiodegradable coffin to store them.

California will join Washington, Colorado, Oregon, and Vermont in allowing human composting. “With climate change and sea-level rise as very real threats to our environment, this is an alternative method of final disposition that won’t contribute emissions into our atmosphere,” Assemblymember Garcia said in a statement.

It was Garcia’s third attempt to approve human composting in California after previous attempts failed in 2020 and 2021. Her office said for every person who is composted versus [embalmed and] buried or cremated, the environmental impact is immediate.

The companies that offer human composting say that for every person who chooses the option over burial or cremation, it will save the equivalent of 1 metric ton of carbon from entering the environment.

“This new law will provide California’s 39 million residents with a meaningful funeral option that offers significant savings in carbon emissions, water and land usage over conventional burial or cremation,” said Katrina Spade, chief executive of Recompose, a Seattle company that was the first funeral home to build a human composting facility in the country.

Opposed by Catholic organization
Hey, WE control this racket!!!
“Our end-of-life choices matter in the effort to heal this planet.” The California Catholic Conference opposed the bill, saying the process “reduces the human body to simply a disposable commodity.”

“The practice of respectfully burying the bodies or the honoring the ashes of the deceased comports with the virtually universal norm of reverence and care towards the deceased,” said the group, which is the public policy voice of the Catholic Church in California.

Gov. Newsom signed the bill without comment. Human composting is slightly less expensive than a casket funeral, but at around $5,000 to $7,000, it is more costly than cremation.

The soil created by the human composting process could be used on private land with permission and otherwise would be subject to the same restrictions as scattering cremated remains in the state.

“This is a question of consumer choice, and Californians should have access to a death care option that is natural, carbon neutral, and a sustainable alternative to cremation or burial,” said Tom Harries, co-founder of Earth Funeral, which offers the burial option.

“Earth Funeral looks forward to bringing soil transformation to California so that anyone can make this choice for themselves or to honor their loved ones.” More
