Science goes too far: living skin robots

Now available with real LIVING, self-healing, human facial skin that smiles (Made in Japan)
I have been waiting for this development. Now I can kiss and feel like a human doll.
.
Japanese scientists make a robot face with living skin that can smile

AI sexbot dolls are already for sale.
(ABC News) Scientists in Japan have made a robot face covered in living, self-healing skin that can smile in a demonstration of a new technique researchers believe could help pave the way for lifelike biohybrid [line of sexbots and] humanoid robots in the future.
  • [The real concern is that any technology that gets publicly disclosed is usually about 50 years old before we are told about it. The military (DARPA, Pentagon, CIA, NSA, NSC, Apple, Meta, Google, Alphabet, Elon Musk's Tesla/X, Jeff Bezos' Amazon, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, etc.) will have already exploited it, as with many features built into iPhones such as audiovisual spying, directional motion detection, and detection of other nearby technology such as other phones. So it seems likely that there are already independently operating, artificially intelligent automatons and androids in the population along with body-doubles and killbots. Will these sexbot-robots now technically count as "skin-walkers"?]
Will women buy robotic phalluses on AI bots?
The scientists, led by Prof. Shoji Takeuchi at the Univ. of Tokyo’s Biohybrid Systems Lab, attached cultured skin to a 3D facial mold using perforation-type anchors, which mimic the natural structure of human skin ligaments.

“The ultimate aim of this project is to create robots with fully-functional, lifelike skin that can heal itself, sense its surroundings, and perform tasks that closely mimic human behavior,” Prof. Takeuchi told ABC News.

Want to go out on a date? - I have kung fu grip. - I'll take that as a yes. - I charge. - OK.
Will men pay for robotic... Never mind. Of course they will. They already buy plastic dolls.

A robot face with living skin anchored to it is seen in a Tokyo laboratory, where scientists have been able to make it smile, in a breakthrough in biohybrid robot technology (© 2024 Takeuchi et al)
    It's been a sci-fi fantasy for decades
A video demonstration shows a circular piece of cultured living skin, anchored over a 3D facial mold being stretched from a blank facial expression to a smile.

In addition, the team also covered a robotic finger in the skin and were able to make it bend and even flick small objects with fluid motion.

The anchors developed by the team mean the robots external appearance is not compromised by having protruding skin anchors, which can also damage the skin during movement.

Can scientists create realistic looking Johns, too? - It's already been done.
    .
    Life-like German Nazi Eve/Barbie
The researchers say that one of the key advantages of a robot having living skin is its capacity to self-heal, rather than requiring repair every time it is scratched or damaged.

The [publicly disclosed] technology is still in its infancy, however. This means that it will likely be a long time before Terminator-style living-skin-covered robots are an everyday occurrence [even if test versions have secretly been out and about for a long time during the development].

In order for the skin to stay on a robot long-term, scientists would need to integrate other biological systems, such as nerves, muscles, and sensory organs into it [maybe a transplanted brain from a nonconsenting homeless donor].

    • In a clip filmed by ALF (the Animal Liberation Front) seen in the antivivisectionist documentary Slaughter of the Innocent, animal activists broke into the corporate headquarters of the "City of Hope" in Duarte, California (a suburb of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley with the downtown skyline in view to the southwest). They were there to liberate animals being tortured by scientists, who were giving the animals, many of them dogs and puppies, cancerous tumors then testing allopathic chemicals on them as treatments in search of marketable synthetic medicines for profit. As if this were not shocking enough, the activists entered a walk-in freezer in one lab and pulled out large plastic bags.
    • Emptying them out on the ground, they found human body parts with no explanation. It was easy to conclude that human experiments were also being done in secret, experimenting on human being then "sacrificing" (a euphemism for executing an experimental subject at the end of an experiment) them and examining their cadavers.
    • The Campaign Against Sex Robots
    • Had these been the donated corpses of volunteers who left their bodies to science, as one would love to believe, their amputated body parts would not have hastily been tossed into trash bags and deposited in walk-in freezers without labels, tags, or accompanying documentation. It seems clear from the footage that "mad" scientists were just free to acquire, mutilate, and experiment on all mammals, humans being no exception, in their blind ambition for capitalist medicine and its advancement at all costs. The goal, after all, is not to cure cancer or other diseases, but only to treat them for profit for as many years as can be managed before patients die of other causes. like fictional Hannibal Lecter, did these scientists begin their experiments by attempting "face transplants" from living subject to artificial robots? And that failed so they cultured cells instead?]

“Developing a method to incorporate blood vessels or an alternative nutrient supply system remains one of the key challenges we are working on to extend the skin's viability outside controlled environments,” Scientist Takeuchi said. More + VIDEO:

KARMA: three "Articles of (Heretical) Belief"

Ven. Nyanatiloka (Buddhist Dictionary, palikanon.com; Dhr. Seven (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly
This is not the historical Buddha Gautama but a nude Mahavira, founder of Jainism.
    .
    The great wandering ascetic Mahavira
These Three "Articles of (Heretical) Belief" (titthāyatana) are (in A.III.61) declared as leading to inactivity/inaction:
    1. (1) the belief that all happiness and suffering are produced through previous karma (prenatal deeds, actions in past lives);
    2. (2) that everything is uncaused;
    3. (3) that everything is created by God.
    (1) The first is the teaching of Niggantha Nāthaputta [Mahavira, the Jina, the tirthankana or "ford-finder," the founder Jainism and leader of the Jains or Nigganthas].

The fault with this doctrine (dharma, "teaching") is that it does not account for that happiness and suffering which are either the result of the present life's skillful or unskillful deeds or are associated with the corresponding action.

    (2) The second is the doctrine or teaching of Makkhali Gosāla (see view at ditthi).

According to these three doctrines, humans are not responsible for their actions (deeds, karma) so as to say that all moral exertions would be useless. Source

California Dem. Katie Hill's sex scandal

Daily Mail; CNN; RedState; NY Post; Seth Auberon, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
I look hot naked with tat and bong and pot.
(CNN) Washington, D.C. - Freshman Democratic Representative Katie Hill of California on Tuesday denied an allegation that she was in a relationship with a [male] member of her congressional office staff.

And she said that she has notified Capitol Hill police that intimate [female on female] photos of her were posted online without her consent.

"This smear campaign will not get in the way of the work I am doing every day to move our district and our country forward," Hill said in a public statement.

"I am truly grateful for the outpouring of support I have received from colleagues and constituents alike, and I know we will get through this together."

The statement comes days after a piece on a conservative blog [RedState] alleged that Hill was involved in a relationship with Graham Kelly, her legislative director, according to LegiStorm. There is no [legitimate] evidence of the alleged relationship.
    • I'm not doing so well after lying about my uh...
(NY Post) A freshman California congresswoman reportedly carried on a long-term “throuple” with her husband and a younger female staffer — which has come to light amid her contentious divorce.
Democratic Rep. Katie Hill, 32, became involved in the unconventional long-term relationship in late 2017 with her now-estranged husband, Kenny Heslep, and a female campaign worker, according to RedState.
The conservative outlet backed up its claim with photos of Hill and the staffer — who was not identified by name — embracing and locked in a kiss.
Another photo posted by the site shows a nude Hill brushing the staffer’s hair.
A source close to the staffer told RedState that the trio, who often vacationed together, agreed to continue their relationship when Hill moved to Washington, DC, in January 2019, but that Hill ultimately broke it off in a series of text messages. More

EXCLUSIVE: Shocking photos of Congresswoman Katie Hill are revealed showing off Nazi-era tattoo while smoking a bong, kissing her female staffer and posing nude on "wife sharing" sites
Katie Hill, 32, has been seen in a series of shocking photographs obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com

    • Hill was pictured kissing and brushing her young lesbian lover/female staffer's hair, who DailyMail.com can identify as Morgan Desjardins from Santa Clarita, California.
    • The then 22-year-old began a "throuple" polyamorous relationship with Hill and her husband Kenny
      Polyamory is a viable option.
Heslep shortly after she started working for Hill in 2017.
    • Texts and photos between Hill, Heslep, and Desjardins reveal their throuple was steamy and sexual at first, but ended with Hill leaving them "high and dry."
    • The congresswoman was also seen posing naked while smoking a bong on 9/11 in 2017, as a tattoo of a Nazi-era Iron Cross on her bikini line is on full display.
    • The tattoo could open the congresswoman to accusations of hypocrisy, after she criticized racist Facebook posts that included a similar-looking cross.
    • Sources revealed Hill and Heslep also posted Hill's naked photos online in 2016 under a thread called "WouldYouF**kMyWife" and "wifesharing" More

Mad World: Two Paths to Knowledge (video)

Slipknot; Bhikkhu Bodhi; Ashley Wells, Dhr. Seven, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
(Slipknot with Corey Taylor) "Vermillion" Part 1. See lyrics below along with Part 2.

    It's not bleached!*
It's a crazy world gone mad. So one might ask, Can blondes be Goth? Where have you been? Blondes can be anything! We have more fun, get more dates, nab richer partners, and are generally hated by everyone...who are jealous? That's what I tell myself. Who knows if they're actually jealous. If only there were a way to know things! What is the path to knowledge, religion or science?
    • *And so what if it is?
    Two Paths to Knowledge

    In the Buddha's Words
Many of the formidable social and cultural problems we face today are rooted in the sharp divide that has caused a schism in Western civilization between science and religion.

Science claims invincible knowledge based on the empirical investigation of the natural world, while religion can do little more than call for faith in supernatural creeds and obedience to codes of ethics that require restraint, self-discipline, and self-sacrifice.

Did religion come from space and weird aliens?
"Religion" as traditionally understood (a set of practices we yoke ourselves to) often rests on little more than big promises and bigger threats. So its appeals to our allegiance seldom win out nowadays.

The ethical ideals it advocates stand hardly a fighting chance against the constant injunction -- pushed on us by media and ads -- to enjoy life to the hilt while we still can.

As a result, a vast portion of humankind has become alienated from religion and spirituality itself as a meaningful guide to life, left with no alternative but to plunge headlong into the secular religion of consumerism and hedonism.

Too often, those in the religious camp, sensing the threat secularism poses to their own security, feel driven toward an aggressive fundamentalism in a desperate bid to salvage traditional loyalties.

Bhikkhu Bodhi translates lots of books.
The quest to establish a sound basis for conduct in today's world has been made particularly difficult because one consequence of the dominance of the scientific worldview has been the banishment of values from the domain of the real.

While many scientists, in their personal lives, are staunch advocates of such ideals as world peace, political justice, and greater economic equality, the worldview promoted by modern science grants to values no objective grounding in the grand scheme of things.

From this "modern" perspective, their root and basis is purely subjective. So they come with all of the qualities the notion of subjectivity suggests: being personal, private, relative, even arbitrary. More

LYRICS: She seems dressed in all the rings of past fatalities. So fragile yet so devious, she continues to see. Climatic hands that press her temples and my chest enter the night that she came home forever. Oh! (She's the only one that makes me sad!) She is everything and more, the solemn hypnotic, my Dahlia bathed in possession, she is home to me. I get nervous, perverse, when I see her it's worse. But the stress is astounding. It's now or never. She's coming home forever. Oh! (She's the only one that makes me sad!) Hard to say what caught my attention, fixed and crazy, aphid attraction. Carve my name in my face, to recognize such a pheromone cult to terrorize. I won't let this build up inside of me... (Yeah!) I'm a slave, and I am a master, no restraints and unchecked collectors. I exist through my need to self-oblige. She is something in me that I despise. I won't let this build up inside of me... She isn't real. I can't make her real...

KARMA: Two brothers win same lottery, but...

Alexandra Genova (Dailymail.com); Seth Auberon, Dhr. Seven, Wisdom Quarterly

The purpose of life in the USA is to get money, hoard money, live for money...then lose it.

Two brothers BOTH won the lottery with separate tickets on the same day -- but [karma works in mysterious ways and can either be your best friend or worst] one walked away with $291 million, while the other took home a tidy jackpot of $7.00.

Bob Stocklas will take home just $7, it's true but will get to keep it all, whereas James faces a lot of taxes.

Two lucky Pennsylvania brothers both won the lottery on the same day -- except one is now a multi-millionaire, while the other took home just $7.00.

Senior District Judge James Stocklas, 67, discovered he and two friends had won the $291 million jackpot Friday, after he wrapped up a month-long fishing holiday with his brother and sister-in-law in the Florida Keys.

Stocklas had bought $10 in tickets at the Tom Thumb store in Marathon on Wednesday, reported Lehigh Valley Live, at the same his brother Bob Stocklas also got a ticket.

Stocklas success: The brothers both bought tickets at the same time, while on holiday in Florida. But James Stocklas (right) won big with $291,400,000, while brother Bob (left) got just $7
The cause of winning the lottery is karma, so winning late in life is a curse. Had one instead won early in a rebirth in a good destination, the same karma could have paid off over an aeon (kappa) in a better world. Better to store up much merit for later (Sayalay Susila).

Stocklas success: The brothers both bought tickets at the same time, while on holiday in Florida. But James Stocklas (right) won big with $291,400,000.00, while brother Bob (left) got just $7.00.

The judge had a long tradition of pooling weekly lottery ticket purchases with two of his friends, Barry Bartikovits and a woman who only wanted to be referred to as Anna, reported New York Daily News.

But it wasn't until Stocklas had returned to Pennsylvania that he discovered the big win.

He was having breakfast at his favorite diner -- where his friend Anna also was -- when he checked the numbers on his phone.

Stocklas told the Daily News: "Then it was chaos in the restaurant. I looked at her (Anna) and we were jumping up and down."

After the discovery he bought breakfast for everyone at the restaurant and promptly called his family to say: "We are going back to Florida!"

He asked a friend who owns a private jet business to fly him back to Florida in one day to verify his ticket -- a trip that cost him $20,000.00.

The elated judge described the day as a "blur" of champagne and signing papers.

Stocklas went home with a total of $40 million after splitting the winnings three ways and accounting for taxes. More (Comment)

SUTRA: "The Brief Exposition of Karma"
Ven. Ñanamoli (The Buddha's Words on Kamma edited with preface, introductions by Ven. Khantipalo), "Four Discourses of the Buddha from the Middle Length Discourses; Cula-kamma-vibhanga Sutta (MN 135); Dhr. Seven, Crystal Quintero, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
The Buddha was not called a "Buddhist" in ancient India; he was called a karmavadin, a "teacher of the results of action." (Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena (Artfan70/flickr.com).
    .
    INTRODUCTION
Many of us want: long life, health, beauty, power, riches, high birth, wisdom, or at least some of these things. The Buddha teaches that they do not appear by chance. It is not our "luck" that we are healthy, or another's lack of it that s/he is foolish.

Although it may not be clear to us now, all such inequalities among beings come about because of the karma they have made (willed, carried out, and thereby stored up for themselves) individually. Each person reaps his/her own fruits (and mental resultants).

KARMA INVOLVES CHOICE: So if one is touched by short life, sickliness, ugliness, insignificance, poverty, low birth, or foolishness and one does not like these things, there is no need to just accept that things are the way they are. The future need not be like that! Provided one makes the right kind of karma now.

Knowing what karma to make and what not to make is the mark of a wise person. It is also the mark of one who is no longer drifting aimlessly but has some direction in life and some control over the sort of events that will occur.
    THE SUTRA

    1. Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was living at Savatthi in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park.

Then Subha the student (Brahmin), Todeyya's son, went to the Blessed One and exchanged greetings with him. And when the courteous and amiable talk was finished, he sat down respectfully to one side. When he had done so, Subha the student said to the Blessed One:

    2. "Master Gautama [a Brahmin's respectful form of address for the Buddha], what is the reason, what is the condition, why inferiority and superiority are met with among human beings, among humankind? For one meets with short-lived and long-lived people, sick and healthy people, ugly and beautiful people, insignificant and influential people, poor and rich people, low-born and high-born people, foolish and wise people. What is the reason, what is the condition, why superiority and inferiority are met with among human beings, among humankind?"

    3. "Student, beings are owners of karmas (actions willed and carried out), heirs of karmas; they have karmas as their progenitor, karmas as their kin, karmas as their homing-place. It is karmas that differentiate beings according to inferiority and superiority."

    4. "I do not understand the detailed meaning of Master Gautama's utterance spoken in brief without expounding the detailed meaning. It would be good if Master Gautama taught me the Dharma so that I might understand the detailed meaning of Master Gautama's utterance spoken in brief without expounding the detailed meaning."

"Then listen, student, and heed well what I shall say."

"Even so, Master Gautama," Subha the student replied. And the Blessed One said this:

    Deeds and results
    5. "Here, student, some man or woman is a killer of living beings, murderous, bloody-handed, given to blows and violence, merciless to living beings. Due to having performed and completed such karmas, on the dissolution of the body, after death, s/he reappears in a state of deprivation, in an unhappy destination, in perdition, even in hell(s).

Various "hells" in Buddhist and Hindu cosmology
"If, on the dissolution of the body, after death, instead of reappearing in a state of deprivation, in an unhappy destination, in perdition, or in hell, one comes again to the human state [because of powerful intervening good karma], one is short-lived wherever one is reborn.

"This is the way that leads to short life, that is to say, to be a killer of living beings, murderous, bloody-handed, given to blows and violence, merciless to living beings.

    6. "But here some man or woman, having abandoned the killing of living beings, abstains from killing living beings, lays aside the rod and the knife, is considerate and merciful, and dwells compassionate for the welfare of all living beings.

"Due to having performed and completed such karmas as this, on the dissolution of the body, after death, one reappears in a happy destination, even in a heavenly world.

"If, on the dissolution of the body, after death, instead of reappearing in a happy destination, in a heavenly world, one comes again to the human state [because of some intervening bad karma], one is long-lived wherever one is reborn.

"This is the way that leads to long life, that is to say, to have abandoned the killing of living beings, to abstain from killing living beings, to lay aside the rod and the knife, to be considerate and merciful, and to dwell compassionate for the welfare of all living beings.

    7. "Here, student, some man or woman is one who harms beings with hands or with clods or with sticks or with knives. Due to having performed and completed such karmas, on the dissolution of the body, after death, one reappears in a state of deprivation...

"If instead one comes again to the human state, one is sickly wherever one is reborn. This is the way that leads to sickness, that is to say, to be one who harms beings with one's hands or with clods or with sticks or with knives.

Death (Yama) rules samsara: Sense Sphere
    8. "But here some man or woman is not one who harms beings with hands, or with clods, or with sticks, or with knives. Due to having performed and completed such karmas [as abstaining from harming], on the dissolution of the body, after death, one reappears in a happy destination...

"If instead one comes again to the human state, one is healthy wherever one is reborn. This is the way that leads to health, that is to say, not to be one who harms beings with hands or with clods or with sticks or with knives.

    9. "Here, student, some woman or man is angry, much given to rage. Even when little is said, one is furious, angry, ill-disposed, resentful, one shows ill-temper, hate, and surliness. Due to having performed and completed such karmas [as fuming and/or expressing anger], on the dissolution of the body, after death, one reappears in a state of deprivation...

"If instead one comes again to the human state, one is ugly wherever one is reborn.

"This is the way that leads to ugliness, that is to say, to be furious, angry, ill-disposed, resentful, and to show ill-temper, hate, and surliness.

    10. "But here some man or woman is not angry or much given to rage. Even when much is said, one is not furious, angry, ill-disposed, resentful, nor does one show ill-temper, hate, or surliness. Due to having performed and completed such karmas, on the dissolution of the body, after death, one reappears in a happy destination...

"If instead one comes again to the human state, one is beautiful wherever one is reborn. This is the way that leads to beauty, that is to say, not to be angry or given to much, and even when much is said, not to be furious, angry, ill-disposed or resentful, or to show ill-temper, hate, or surliness.

    11. "Here, student, some man or woman is envious; one envies, begrudges, and harbors envy about others' gains, honor, veneration, respect, salutations, and offerings. Due to having performed and completed (willed and carried out) such karmas, on the dissolution of the body, after death, one reappears in a state of deprivation...

"If instead one comes again to the human state, one is insignificant wherever one is reborn. This is the way that leads to insignificance, that is to say, to be envious, to envy, begrudge, and harbor envy about others' gain, honor, veneration, respect, salutations, and offerings.

    12. "But here some man or woman is not envious, does not envy, begrudge, or harbor envy about others' gain, honor, veneration, respect, salutations, and offerings. Due to having performed and completed such karmas, on the dissolution of the body, after death, one reappears in a happy destination...

"If instead one comes again to the human state, one is influential wherever one is reborn. This is the way that leads to influence, that is to say, not to be envious, not to envy, begrudge, or harbor envy about others' gain, honor, veneration, respect, salutations, or offerings. More

Happy Festivus! Happy Kwanzaa! Yule! (video)

Sheldon S., CC Liu, Seth Auberon, Wisdom Quarterly; FestivusWeb; OfficialKwanzaaWebsite
Post-apocalyptic holidays after "The Last Christmas Movie" (zombiehunters.org)

We'll stick with Kwanzaa, thanks (meetup).
"Happy Festivus" is the traditional greeting of Festivus, a holiday featured in "The Strike" episode of Seinfeld.

People have been inspired by this zany, offbeat Seinfeld holiday ever since and now celebrate Festivus like any other holiday. According to the Seinfeld model, Festivus is celebrated each year on December 23rd, but many celebrate it other times in December and throughout the year.

The Festivus slogan is "A Festivus for the rest of us!" The usual holiday tradition of a tree is manifested in an unadorned aluminum pole, which is in direct contrast to normal holiday materialism. Those attending Festivus may also participate in the "Airing of Grievances," which is an opportunity to tell others how they have disappointed you in the past year.

This is followed by a Festivus dinner and is completed by the "Feats of Strength," where the head of the household must be pinned down. All of these traditions are based upon the events in the Seinfeld episode.

Strangely enough, our Festivus traditions also have roots that pre-date Seinfeld, as it began in the household of Dan O'Keefe, a television writer who is credited for writing the episode. More

      Kwanzaa
(Incredible Black, Part 1 of 2) Here's how to celebrate the new universal holiday Kwanzaa.

Looking for a new holiday tradition? The Seven Days of Kwanzaa run from Dec. 26th to Jan. 1st. It's open to all. How can we celebrate it? Let's do something that connects us back to Mother Africa and seven core cultural principles that were once commonly honored.

      What does "Kwanzaa" mean?
I love Ethiopia (and Egypt), Africa
Kwanzaa is an African-American and Pan-African holiday celebrated by millions throughout the world in African communities.

Kwanzaa brings a cultural message that speaks to the best of what it means to be human and African in the fullest sense.

Given the profound significance Kwanzaa has for African-Americans and, indeed, African communities throughout the world, we need a reliable source of information on it.

This site is available to give an accurate and expansive account of Kwanzaa's origins, concepts, values, symbols, and practices. Moreover, given the continued rapid growth of Kwanzaa and the parallel expanded discussion of it and related issues... More

      Is everyone just copying Europe?
Lana (Radio 3 Fourteen, Red Ice Radio)
WARNING: In her enthusiasm to celebrate European culture and Yule, Lana says some very offensive things that could make one wonder about her motives, implicit bias, white privilege.

      Yule
"Stop stealing from my people" - Barbie
In the multicultural West we are told to say "Happy Kwanzaa," "Happy Hanukkah," ["Happy Festivus"], and "Merry Christmas" or these days just "Happy Holidays" so as to not offend others.

Lana talks about the true origins of newcomer holidays such as Afrocentric Kwanzaa and Jewish Hanukkah. Where did these holidays originate? Are they original or copycats? Why are they also in December, like Christmas?

Let's learn about the true origins of Christmas, which is entirely borrowed from Yule, the pre-Christian [pagan] European celebration of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

We stole soul, jazz...but you stole Kwanzaa.
Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa [and Festivus] are all impostors, culturally appropriating from the ancient European Winter Solstice celebration.

[But, Lana, was "Yule" a rip off of ancient Roman Saturnalia, which took most of what it celebrated from ancient Greece, which stole most of what made it famous from ancient India, which borrowed most of what made it great from the Indus Valley Civilization... No, probably not. It's easy to be Eurocentric. But the world is much bigger and much older than Europe. People all over the planet celebrate in winter, which is when we most need to cheer up, get along with one another, and survive the cold. So, please, Ixnay on the racismay, Eva].

Let's learn about the myth, symbolism, and tradition of Yule.
