(YouTube Movies & TV) "When We Went MAD!" (full film)
Go mad. Enlist. Kill for patriotism and bank profits.
MAD is an American humor magazine that was launched in 1952 and is currently published by DC Comics, a unit of the DC Entertainment subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery.
MAD was founded by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines [2], launched as a comic book series before it became a magazine. It was widely imitated and influential, affecting satirical American media, as well as the cultural landscape of the late 20th century, with editor Al Feldstein increasing readership to more than two million during its 1973–1974 circulation peak [3].
It is the last surviving title in the EC Comics line, which sold Mad to Premier Industries in 1961 but closed in 1956.
Mad publishes satire on all aspects of American life and popular culture, politics, entertainment, and public figures. Its format includes TV and movie parodies and satire articles about everyday occurrences that are changed to seem humorous.
Mad's mascot, Alfred E. Neuman, is usually on the cover. More: Mad (magazine)

Wasteland Weekend?
Where's Max? Let's go beyond Thunderdome!
If driving on the 405 Freeway at rush hour isn’t "Mad Max" enough for Americans, then LAist has got a party at the end of the world that might catch some eyes.
Thousands of people will descend on the Mojave Desert on Wednesday, Sept. 24th, 2025, for the annual Wasteland Weekend (wastelandweekend.com) -- a five-day bash inspired by post-apocalyptic franchises like "Mad Max" and "Fallout."
What started 15 years ago as a group of "Mad Max" fans looking to hang out has grown into an intensely immersive destination for people from around the world.
LikeBurning Man, this festival takes place on a barren landscape. But Wasteland Weekenders go all-in on creating another world.
(Eric Thigpen) As a tribute to MADtv, I assembled a compilation of clips focusing on the first few seasons of the show. The team at that time was clearly fearless, unafraid to risk controversy with its choice of subject matter. And the results were hilarious, sweet memories that will stand the test of time because they were clearly ahead of their time.
(Jedd.0953) Sept. 30, 2024: The world of satirical humor owes a great debt to the goofballs who created Mad Magazine.
Every generation has some connection to the Mad brand, but there really aren't many fun videos surrounding its legacy as a brand, so here we go with one attempt.

This is "The Man" burned to stick it to The Man
I went to Burning Man for the first time in 2023 — and many people are wrong about the event.
They think Burning Man is a big music festival only attended by celebrities and CEOs. But the truth is Burning Man is full of regular people who work year-round to create an incredible sense of community.
Over the last few years, Burning Man has become known as a haven for Silicon Valley tech bros and Instagram influencers, who cough up thousands of dollars to party in "Mad Max" desert cosplay.

But when I went for the first time last year, I realized there's a lot that people get wrong about the legendary annual event. Now that I've done my own inaugural "Dust Angel" and gotten the full playa experience, I'm ready to correct some of the biggest Burning Man myths. Here are five things everyone gets wrong.
Let's go, Mark. - Where? - I'll kick your @$$!
Burning Man became more prominent as it began attracting high profile Burners like billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, including supermodels like Heidi Klum and Cindy Crawford. Morevia Yahoo
(DamiLee) What is this magical communion of humanity? This is not a capitalist endeavor like Coachella or Lollapalooza. This is the peoples' event, powered by participants and their creativity. It's like nothing else in the world. There's a reason why 70,000 make it out to desert in a journey as tough as the good old mystery rave days before they got commercial.

NATIONAL MAD HATTER DAY falls on October 6th, a day set aside each year to bring out our silly side while celebrating.
The fictional character known as The Hatter (aka The Mad Hatter) from Lewis Carroll's Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland typically acts silly.
That is how the creators of this day decided on their theme of silliness for National Mad Hatter Day.
Sir John Tenniel illustrated The Mad Hatter and all of Lewis Carroll's colorful characters beginning in 1864. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was first published in 1865.
The phrase "mad as a hatter" comes from the late 18th and early 19th centuries when haberdasheries used mercury nitrate. Exposure to this heavy metal over time caused the tradesmen to develop symptoms, making people believe they were mad/insane.
Taking our inspiration from The Mad Hatter (or any of Carroll's wonderful characters), we may pursue laughable, absurd, or even confusing adventures on National Mad Hatter Day.
Break from the usual routine. Ask ridiculous riddles much like The Hatter's own, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" Write a nonsense poem. Play croquet with plastic pink flamingos, or wear a funny hat around.
Celebrate the day with silliness. Our sanity depends on it. More

COMMENTARY
I'm little Alice, innocent child
(WQ) Hey, did Oxford Math Professor Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (pseudonym Lewis Carroll) molest little Alice Liddell? It's clearly something that has been on the mind of many readers for a century or more. It's verboten to suggest as we nudge and wink. Who would be surprised? We can only say that at that time in savage English, particularly give the author's social class and standing, marriage between a man of his age and a child of her age was common, legal, and possibly financially advantageous for her family. The writing of these beloved stories and books may well have been the product of courtship, legitimate, legal, and well understood courtship of the day, no matter how much it scandalizes England or the U.S. today.
Photography's a new art form. Let's see what I can get away with by having all the sisters pose for me
Was Carroll trying to make young Alice look "sexy"?
We judge it by our standards and mores, but it may be important to understand it in context. Here we have a man into photography who is clearly in some kind of love/lust with a marriageable female, if only a parent approve, and then there's the matter of the missing pages of his diary. That suggests someone in the family knew for sure what Carroll felt and intended for Alice. The fact that those pages are missing so we can all sleep in ignorance of the hard truths of brutal English life.
We are the descendants of that culture, the colonial inheritors of it. And the fact that our older white males routinely raped Black male and female slaves when that was legal. oh we don't dare think about it much less mention it in polite company. A play examining this subject came to South Pasadena a few years back, and it's a surprise it did not go national with its provocative examination of what a man might feel. Oh, it's unthinkable. Art must hide it that we may, like Anais Nin, speak what is not easy for others to say.

The relationship between the Liddells and Dodgson suffered a sudden break in June 1863. There was no record of why the rift occurred, since the Liddells never openly spoke of it, and the single page in Dodgson's diary recording June 27–29, 1863 (which seems to cover the period in which it began) was missing [18].
I like little girls. It's very British
It has been speculated by biographers such as Morton N. Cohen that Dodgson may have wanted to marry the 11-year-old Alice Liddell, and that this was the cause of the unexplained break with the family in June 1863 [19].
Alice Liddell's biographer, Anne Clark, writes that Alice's descendants were under the impression that Dodgson wanted to marry her, but that "Alice's parents expected a much better match for her."
I didn't get my marriage wish, alas.
Clark argues that in Victorian England such arrangements were not as improbable as they might seem; John Ruskin, for example, fell in love with a 12-year-old girl while Dodgson's younger brother sought to marry a 14-year-old, but postponed the wedding for six years [20].
In 1996, Karoline Leach found what became known as the "Cut pages in diary" document [21] — a note allegedly written by Charles Dodgson's niece, Violet Dodgson, summarizing the missing page from 27–29 June 1863, apparently written before she (or her sister Menella) removed the page... More

For many "Don Draper" (aka Dick Whitman) is the epitome of confidence. But what most people don’t realize is that confidence actually comes in two flavors.
There is the external confidence we project, which can make closing deals, making friends, or seducing someone happen more naturally. There is also the internal confidence we feel, which is how comfortable we are in any given situation.
Let's analyze what Draper can teach us about both levels of confidence and how mastering each level can take us from being nervous to completely confident in any situation.

(Slipknot with Corey Taylor) "Vermillion" Part 1. See lyrics below along with Part 2.
It's not bleached!*
It's a crazy world gone mad. So one might ask, Can blondes be Goth? Where have you been? Blondes can be anything! We have more fun, get more dates, nab richer partners, and are generally hated by everyone...who are jealous? That's what I tell myself. Who knows if they're actually jealous. If only there were a way to know things! What is the path to knowledge, religion or science?
Many of the formidable social and cultural problems we face today are rooted in the sharp divide that has caused a schism in Western civilization between science and religion.
Science claims invincible knowledge based on the empirical investigation of the natural world, while religion can do little more than call for faith in supernatural creeds and obedience to codes of ethics that require restraint, self-discipline, and self-sacrifice.
Did religion come from space and weird aliens?
"Religion" as traditionally understood (a set of practices we yoke ourselves to) often rests on little more than big promises and bigger threats. So its appeals to our allegiance seldom win out nowadays.
The ethical ideals it advocates stand hardly a fighting chance against the constant injunction -- pushed on us by media and ads -- to enjoy life to the hilt while we still can.
As a result, a vast portion of humankind has become alienated from religion and spirituality itself as a meaningful guide to life, left with no alternative but to plunge headlong into the secular religion of consumerism and hedonism.
Too often, those in the religious camp, sensing the threat secularism poses to their own security, feel driven toward an aggressive fundamentalism in a desperate bid to salvage traditional loyalties.
The quest to establish a sound basis for conduct in today's world has been made particularly difficult because one consequence of the dominance of the scientific worldview has been the banishment of values from the domain of the real.
While many scientists, in their personal lives, are staunch advocates of such ideals as world peace, political justice, and greater economic equality, the worldview promoted by modern science grants to values no objective grounding in the grand scheme of things.
From this "modern" perspective, their root and basis is purely subjective. So they come with all of the qualities the notion of subjectivity suggests: being personal, private, relative, even arbitrary.More

She seems dressed in all the rings of past fatalities. So fragile yet
so devious, she continues to see. Climatic hands that press her temples
and my chest enter the night that she came home forever. Oh! (She's the
only one that makes me sad!) She is everything and more, the solemn
hypnotic, my Dahlia bathed in possession, she is home to me. I get
nervous, perverse, when I see her it's worse. But the stress is
astounding. It's now or never. She's coming home forever. Oh! (She's the
only one that makes me sad!) Hard to say what caught my attention,
fixed and crazy, aphid attraction. Carve my name in my face, to
recognize such a pheromone cult to terrorize. I won't let this build up
inside of me... (Yeah!) I'm a slave, and I am a master, no restraints
and unchecked collectors. I exist through my need to self-oblige. She is
something in me that I despise. I won't let this build up inside of
me... She isn't real. I can't make her real...
Mara Devaputra, the Death Angel, patiently waits for an opening (randumbuzz.com)
Death is coming for who?! I gotta get out of here! - It's no use, champ. Your time's up.
America's favorite Muslim convert, Muhammad Ali (rejected slave name Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.) has passed away at 74 surrounded by family, suffering gravely from a career total of 29,000 punches to the body and the consequent traumatic brain injury and Parkinson's disease. The final cause of death was associated with old age. Ali (January 17, 1942-June 3, 2016) was the greatest figure in sports for decades thanks in some part to the ABC television network and announcer Howard Cossell.
Don't waste your life. Live, YOU, live! (Ali)
He was best known as a pro boxer, heavyweight champion, civil rights icon, conscientious objector, war resister, and father of 9.Early in his career, Ali was a controversial and polarizing figure in and out of the ring. A tough guy who could fight Death with gloves off, he was alas overtaken. So what chance do we have against the inevitable? Death is the "impossible possibility."
When Death (Mara the Tempter) came to dissuade Siddhartha from gaining enlightenment, he was too late. Siddhartha had awakened, become the Buddha, and overcome death, rebirth (samsara), and all suffering, and found the undying peace of nirvana.
