There's another body that gets even less respect than Pluto, and that rascal RAHU, downgraded from planet to a "node." A node? But it is this celestial body that is credited with earth's eclipses, lunar and solar, in Buddhist, Vedic/Hindu, and Jain cosmologies.

The ancient Vedas ("Knowledge Books" of India) have much to tell us, particularly the Ayurveda on the topic of health (important in yoga). Here modern Hindu showman Sadhguru ("true guru") claims that in two hours under the eclipse things like food, which is our body post-consumption, will age and rot. So it is better to fast today, not to eat, to bathe away negativity, and never to watch the eclipse directly as so many space-loving Americans are fond of doing. Everyone in India knows to go indoors and be away from the shadow of the eclipses. It is not just Sadhguru warning people. Of course, his method of "dowsing" with (mala beads or any pendulum like device the hand can unconsciously twitch to move in one direction or another, which is good for divining what the mind knows subconsciously better than what is present objectively) the food for the presence of deterioration, aging, fermenting, rotting, and putrefying is a little suspect. But the claim is that this is subtle and therefore it would be hard to substantiate the claim otherwise. Of course, one imagines the food should spoil, rot, grow fungus and black mats of bacteria in two to three hours if it were the case that the body/food are aging 28 days in just the two to three hours of the eclipse. But be that as it may, we are forewarned and can take the appropriate steps if we wish. It is ancient Vedic knowledge. The Buddha did not accept the Vedas nor regard them as ultimate authorities on spirituality, but that is not to say that they are not valuable sacred scriptures. Many truths must be found within their pages, many things the Brahmins memorizing and chanting in Sanskrit thought worthy of preserving from the heavens (akasha loka) from which they were handed down or composed by seers (rishis) capable of discerning subtle truths our world is usually blind to.

John Titor: Life in the year 2036 (video)

THE TIME TRAVEL OF JOHN TITOR: Year 2036

Although there is debate over the exact date it started, on November 02, 2000, a person going by the name Timetravel, and later John Titor, started posting on a public forum as a time traveler from the year 2036.

One of the first things Titor did was post pictures of the time machine and its operation manual. As the weeks went by, more and more people began questioning him about why he was here, the physics of time travel, and his thoughts about our time (which is about 2% different than his). He also posted on other forums including the now defunct Art Bell site. In his posts John Titor entertained, angered, frightened, and even belittled those who engaged him in conversation.

On March 21, 2001, Titor told us he would be leaving our timeline and returning to 2036. After that, he was never heard from again. Speculation and investigation about who John Titor was and why he was online continues to this day. (It is certain that if he is real, the powers that be today do not want people to believe he was real).

Although it may be easy to dismiss all of this as science fiction, most people who read his posts agree that there is something eerie and haunting about John Titor and what he said. In addition, and this is open to debate, he also made a series of predictions and comments that eerily seem to be coming true. (He definitively made statements about things that would happen and in what year that did not come true).

Unfortunately, we never spoke directly to John Titor, but there are many out there who did and continue to wonder about their experience. As one gets deeper and deeper into the story, one finds his posts, links to other sites about him, downloads, and speculative information attributed to him after he left.

The posts have been taken and organized by date and subject. The editorial work is copyrighted, but the unedited posts and the people who experienced these things are in the public domain and can be found on other sites listed inside.

When reading, please try to keep two things in mind. Titor appeared to answer nearly every question asked of him over the 4-month period he was online. Because of that, many people neglected to read the previous posts and asked the same or similar questions to those he had already answered. This may offer a glimpse of what a time traveler goes through when having the same conversation again and again.

These posts were written before 9/11, the Space Shuttle Discovery accident, and the second Gulf War. Many people believe Titor may have known of these events and dropped clues without actually referring to them. It's also widely agreed that he made several predictions about future discoveries in physics that have materialized as he stated. More

End of Organic Farming? (H.R. 875)

Recently there has been a flurry of messages about HR 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, and how it could criminalize organic farming. Here's one message:

H.R. 875 Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, if passed, will criminalize organic farms, force ORGANIC farms to use pesticides and force us to use them in our own backyards. No surprise here as MONSANTO is one of the backers of this bill. Monsanto is the world's largest herbicide and pesticide company and the leading producer of genetically engineered seeds [GMOs] which are now causing unexpected diseases in humans and evil on many other levels. There is an enormous rush to get this into law within the next two weeks before people realize what's happening.
This bill will require organic farms to use specific fertilizers and poisonous insect sprays dictated to "make sure there is no danger to the public food supply."
There are 40 co-sponsors to the bill and six of the 40 are from California.

Leavemyfoodalone.org talks about the consequences of the bill, which is currently under review:

In its current form, the bill could prevent small local organic farms and community gardeners from growing and selling you nutritious, truly fresh, organic produce. It would crush our small local food producers by imposing heavy government regulation that only large corporations could adhere to. Imagine:

No more farmers markets.
No more garden fresh, seasonal ingredients from the local farmer at your favorite restaurant.
No more roadside stands with fresh picked sweet corn, juicy ripe tomatoes, or refreshing watermelons in the summer.
Americans would essentially be forced to only eat corporately manufactured, chemically treated, hermetically sealed, irradiated fruits and vegetables.
Stop this abomination now!

Always the skeptic, I've postponed signing any petitions until I've had a chance to learn more about the issue.

Would new food-safety legislation "criminalize organic farming"?

No? The Internets are abuzz with accounts of a House bill, allegedly sponsored by Monsanto and pushed through Congress by its lackeys, that would "criminalize organic farming" and even backyard gardening. "The bill is monstrous on level after level — the power it would give to Monsanto, the criminalization of seed banking, the prison terms, and confiscatory fines for farmers, the 24 hour GPS tracking of their animals, the easements on their property to allow for warrantless government entry, the stripping away of their property rights... There have been hysterical missives about H.R. 875. They are difficult to square with the text of the bill, which is admittedly vague. For example, the bill seeks to regulate any "food production facility" which it defines as "any farm, ranch, orchard, vineyard, aquaculture facility, or confined animal-feeding operation."
