Renee Good's ICE poem 'To Dissect...Pigs'

On Learning to Dissect...Pigs
By Renée Nicole Macklin [Good] R.I.P.

Police Pig I (creator.nightcafe.studio)
i want back my rocking chairs,

solipsist sunsets,

& coastal jungle sounds that are tercets from cicadas and pentameter from the hairy legs of cockroaches.

i’ve donated bibles to thrift stores

(mashed them in plastic trash bags with an acidic himalayan salt lamp—

the post-baptism bibles, the ones plucked from street corners from the meaty hands of zealots, the dumbed-down, easy-to-read, parasitic kind):

remember more the slick rubber smell of high gloss biology textbook pictures; they burned the hairs inside my nostrils,

& salt & ink that rubbed off on my palms.

under clippings of the moon at two forty five AM I study&repeat

               ribosome

               endoplasmic—

               lactic acid

               stamen

at the IHOP on the corner of powers and stetson hills—

i repeated & scribbled until it picked its way & stagnated somewhere i can’t point to anymore, maybe my gut—

maybe there in-between my pancreas & large intestine is the piddly brook of my soul.

it’s the ruler by which i reduce all things now; hard-edged & splintering from knowledge that used to sit, a cloth against fevered forehead.

can i let them both be? this fickle faith and this college science that heckles from the back of the classroom

               now i can’t believe—

that the bible and qur’an and bhagavad gita are sliding long hairs behind my ear like mom used to & exhaling from their mouths “make room for wonder”

all my understanding dribbles down the chin onto the chest & is summarized as:

life is merely

to ovum and sperm

and where those two meet

and how often and how well

and what dies there.

Renee Nicole Good Is Murdered
By Cornelius Eady (1954–)

The killer is the one who chooses to kill.
Up rides the super cops,
The cancellation squad.
A dormant virus, melted from
The ice pack,

And the conversation
Is end-stopped when
The shell cracks her
Car window, does its
Dumb duty,
Brings silence
To a poet’s mind.

The President says:
You’re a terror bot
If you don’t comply.
Homeland security
Puts on a ten gallon
Texas size hat,
Says see what f*cking
With the bull gets you.

There is a picture of her
Just before it tips rancid,
Just before she’s dragged
Into how they see her.

I wish I could read the words
As they blaze their last, unsuspected
Race through her skull.
A language poem that ends on
The word
Impossible.

What did the Buddha eat? “Pig’s Delight”

A new disciple of the Buddha offers a meal to the Teacher (Buddhism/jendhamuni.com)

.
“Pig’s Delight”?
Out of the mouths of Babe(s)
In an attempt to justify some Buddhists' ghoulish appetite for the bloody flesh of animals, some individuals allege that the Buddha allowed monastic disciples to eat slaughtered meat under three circumstances or that the Buddha himself ate pork.

These are patently specious claims. A Pali canon (Theravada Buddhist) discourse called the Jivaka Sutta is the source of the infamous “three purities” argument. It states:

“I proclaim that there are three circumstances when meat should not be eaten:
  1. when it is seen,
  2. heard, or
  3. suspected [as being present?]
“I proclaim that meat should not be eaten under those three circumstances.”
  • Jīvaka questions the Buddha about meat eating, and he says: “Anyone who slays an animal for the use of a monastic and gives it to that monastic commits a terrible evil.” Jīvaka is pleased with this answer and declares himself a follower of the Buddha (M.i.368f.)
  • Note, if a monastic were to eat meat, he or she would not necessarily be guilty of killing or even encouraging anyone to kill IF he or she neither saw, heard, nor suspected that an animal was killed [for one's sake or for any misguided reason]. Of course, we don't blame recipients of someone else's giving/dana). For example, if we give to a homeless person, is that good or bad? Does it depend on what that person chooses to do with the money if we did not know when we offered it? If he buys a knife and stabs someone, are we guilty of murder? We acted, and he acted.
  • Further questioned by Jīvaka, the Buddha explains that a follower (upāsaka) is one who has "gone for guidance" to the Three Gem (Buddha, Dhamma, and [Noble] Sangha, what the Buddhist Teacher Seven translates as "the Teacher, Teaching, and [successfully] Taught") and undertaken the Five Precepts or lay training rules, and that such a person, by reason of these qualities, works for the benefit of oneself and others (A.iv.222f.)
  • One's virtue (sila) is "pure" if one follows the Five Precepts, which means abstaining from doing harm by killing or causing to kill, stealing or causing to steal, engaging in sexual misconduct or causing another to do so, engaging in false speech [which is the biggest one because this actually has four factors*] or causing another to do so, consuming intoxicants that occasion heedlessness (negligence, moral carelessness) or causing another to do so.
  • *"False speech" means bearing false witness or speaking divisive, idle, or harsh speech, all of which gets translated as "lying" when it is so much more.
  • Finally, a Buddhist or disciple avoids "wrong livelihood": business in arms, business in living beings (animals, people, insects), business in meat, business in alcohol, or business in poisons (A.V.177).
  • In this way one avoids the Ten Courses of Unwholesome Action or "bad karma."
Clearly, the Buddha is stipulating that if a monastic disciple (bhikkhu, bhikkhuni, samanera, samaneri, or maechi and sometimes anagārikas -- monk, nun, male novice, female novice, white clad ten precept nuns or special probationers) inadvertently consumes meat that has been placed in one's alms bowl, one is not at fault.
  • All mothers are alike in raising kids
Guidelines are more lax in all things for lay Buddhists, who simply maintain the Five Precepts; however, those precepts include "not killing nor causing anyone else to kill." What is one doing when paying a butcher shop or supermarket for slaughtered flesh but hiring someone to slaughter, cut up, and sell the dead or their organs? That would be causing (asking, inducing, enticing, ordering, paying) someone else to kill for us. How can we be so deluded as to think that we did not order, cause, or contribute to that killing? The Godfather doesn't get his hands dirty but pays Guido to do his killing for him. Guido doesn't know the victims and is just doing the job he was paid to do. Is the Godfather guilty of murder for the people Guido's hands kill?
You're not going to slaughter me? - No! I'm going
to pay my butcher to. - WHAT!?! - He's the killer.
One's action (intention, karma, deed) remains pure. However, if one sees, hears, or so much as suspects that there is meat in one's bowl, one must not eat it.

Later commentators gratuitously inserted the phrase [“that the living being has been slaughtered for oneself”] after each iteration of the word “suspected.”

That phrase does NOT appear in the original Pali text. It is a spurious addition, making it seem as if the Buddha allowed monastic disciples under his training to eat meat so long as an animal was not expressly killed to feed them, or at least when they did not see, hear, or suspect that such a killing (slaughtering, butchering) took place.

I live by Mafia rules, keep my hands clean
This interpolation is linguistically unwarranted. More importantly, it contradicts the unequivocal teaching of the historical Buddha on the matter.

The Buddha gives extensive arguments against meat (flesh, animal) eating in the Angulimaliya Sutra, Nirvana Sutra, Karma Sutra, Shurangama Sutra, Mahamegha Sutra, Lankavatara Sutra, Maha Parinirvana Sutra, and others.

In the “Net of All-Embracing Views Discourse” (Brahmajala Sutta), Shakyamuni (the historical Buddha Gautama) exhorts his disciples to adopt veganism:

“Monastics, should you willingly and knowingly eat flesh, you defile yourselves. Pray, let us not consume any flesh or whatsoever comes from sentient beings.”

Perhaps the most infamous of all revisionist interpretations is the one claiming that the Buddha passed away from eating contaminated pork (trichinosis, dysentery, cholera) offered by Cunda the Silversmith.

The term used in the Pali language “Great Final-Nirvana Discourse” (Mahaparinibbana Sutta) to describe the dish that Cunda served the Buddha at his last meal is sukara-maddava, which literally means “pig’s delight” — a clear reference to truffles, a type of mushroom (underground fungal fruiting body) that pigs delight in sniffing out, digging up, and eating as much of as possible.

The Pali term for “fatty pig meat, slaughtered swine flesh, or sliced stomach” is sukara-mamsa.
  • COMMENTS
  • (I. Rony) I think "pig's delight" means bloody pig, lard bacon, or hog's hair and eyes [aka hotdog or salami] because, think about it, when you order "Buddha's Delight" at a Chinese restaurant, it's Buddha flesh from that Fat Happy Guy at the door, isn't it? It has to be because it's right in the name.
  • (Capt. Obvious) Hey, General Tso's Chicken contains canned General Tso...cannibals who like MSG order it all the time...so Pig's Delight is probbly 'Delightful Pig' in blood sauce with soy with entrails or offal guts
The famous Buddhist scholar Carolyn Rhys-Davies Caroline A.F. Rhys Davids -- wife and colleague of T.W. Rhys-Davids, founder of England's Pali Text Society), who served as its president from 1923 to 1942 -- clearly noted the discrepancy more than seven decades ago.

Hollywood's Babe, a talking farm pig (film)
But proponents of human carnivory still trot out this fallacy today. Unless one is ignorant of the Pali language, or is willfully misleading oneself or others, it is impossible to assert that “pigs delight” means “delicious pork,” as if the Buddha had ordered a greasy dish in some Chinese restaurant.

In the Dhammapada, the Buddha says:

“All beings tremble before danger; all fear death.
When we consider this, we do not kill nor cause to kill.
All beings tremble before danger; life is dear to all.
When we consider this, we do not kill nor cause to kill.

All beings means all beings, not just humans and devas.

What has Bernie Sanders become? Evil?

Jimmy Dore (TJDS); Sheldon S., Ashley Wells, Pfc. Sandoval (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
It's hack to say, but if one reads 1984, there's a Bernie character named Goldstein. That leader of the underground is two people, the one presented to would-be revolutionaries and the one revealed to actual revolutionaries. How did George Orwell know?
I'm once again asking you to support war in Ukraine, the oligarchy, and one-party system.

Jimmy Dore to moderate presidential debate

Pick up my book in discount bin
The unthinkable has happened. Jimmy Dore has been asked to moderate a presidential debate. (What planet are we on?) Oh, yeah, the sort of planet where Bernie "Follow Me To Hillary" Sanders sells out again, supporting Joe Biden, the DNC even though he's an Independent), the CIA and its Pentagon sponsoring our proxy-war against Russia in Ukraine, and now having peace activists arrested for holding up signs of his own quote near his office. CODE PINK won't stand for it, Jimmy Dore won't stay silent, and neither will Wisdom Quarterly. Feel the Burn Bernie has, it seems, always been a fraud. He said very nice things, but he is now and has for decades been a career politician. Soon he'll be calling for war in Palestine to back Netanyahu the way he supports Zelensky. Is there any war the Democratic Party, including The Squad, won't get behind? Republicans are just as bad, except that Frankenstein Trump didn't start any new wars or conflicts. If he had the power, he would have let other existing "kinetic actions" lapse. In the meantime, Sen. Sanders wants more going along to get along, more status quo, more anti-revolution. Where has he been on all his old campaign promises and preachy speeches? Like a good boy, he's piped down and enjoy his property, selling us out in the process.

War-pig Rachel Maddow smears peace rally

War-pig Rachel Maddow SMEARS peace rallygoers
(The Jimmy Dore Show) Feb. 23, 2023. Unlike virtually everyone else in the mainstream media, Rachel Maddow opted to cover the recent anti-war "Rage Against the War Machine" rally in Washington DC.

Except, as the inveterate warmonger and consent manufacturer she is, Maddow spread lie after lie and smeared participants as “pro-Russia” while showing none of the speakers except Tulsi Gabbard, whom she didn’t identify by name while describing her as a "occasional fill-in host for [Fox News'] Tucker Carlson."

Overall, it is a disgusting display and a stark reminder of what a tool for the establishment Maddow is.

Guest host Aaron Maté and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger, along with interloping Jimmy Dore, discuss Maddow’s rank dishonesty and knowing mischaracterization of the rally and its participants.#TheJimmyDoreShow

Six more weeks of winter: Groundhog Day (2/1)

Groundhog Day 2023: Punxsutawney Phil makes his prediction
(TODAY, Feb. 2, 2023) Punxsutawney Phil has officially made his annual Groundhog Day weather prediction. Will we see six more weeks of winter? #Groundhogday #PunxsutawneyPhil #Winter

Miniature replica of Gobbler's Knob (German knob gobbling?), Punxsutawney (Raunaq Gupta)
.
It's that time of year again to suspend disbelief (like at Xmas for Krampus and St. Nick lore) and join in the revelry. In the past Euro Americans used to kill the poor rodent at the center of their witchery and eat it. Now they're nicer and honor him highly as a good vermin weatherman rodent.

Let's murder and eat this varmint for its witchcraft!
(Wiki edited by WQ) Punxsutawney Phil is the name given to a groundhog residing in Young Township near Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania (near our Germanic Amish friends), who is the central figure in Punxsutawney's annual Groundhog Day celebration.
Folklore
We sure love our rats in North America.
On February 2nd each year, Punxsutawney holds a civic festival with music and food [that in the past included slaughtered the groundhog].

During the ceremony, which begins well before the winter sunrise, P-Phil emerges from his temporary home on Gobbler's Knob, located in a rural area about 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Punxsutawney town.

According to German witchcraft tradition, if P-Phil sees his shadow and returns to his hole, he has predicted six more weeks of winter-like weather.

But if P-Phil does not see his shadow, he has predicted an "early spring." Punxsutawney's event is the most famous of many Groundhog Day festivals held in the Euro-invaded United States and Canada.

The event formally began in 1887, although its roots go back even further.

Punxsutawney Phil canon

Ya, das goot, Mein Leibchen. We shall eat it and watch the movie.
The practices and lore of Punxsutawney Phil's predictions are predicated on a light-hearted suspension of disbelief by those involved.

According to the lore, there is only one P-Phil, and all other groundhogs are impostors.

It is claimed that this one groundhog has lived to make weather prognostications since 1886, sustained by drinks of "groundhog punch" or "elixir of life" (Gaelic/Celtic whiskey or uisce beatha) administered at the annual Groundhog Picnic in the fall [6].

The lifespan of other groundhogs in the wild is roughly six years [7].

According to the Groundhog Club, Phil, after the prediction, speaks to the club president in the language of "Groundhogese," which only the current president can understand, and then his prediction is translated and revealed to all in English or German [6].

Talk to me about world peace not groundhogs.
The Groundhog Day celebration is rooted in a Celtic and Germanic tradition that says that if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on February 2nd, the pagan holiday of Imbolc (known among Christians as Candlemas), winter and cold weather will last another six weeks.

If no shadow is seen, legend says, spring will come early. In Germany, the tradition evolved into a myth that if the sun came out on Candlemas, a hedgehog would cast its shadow, predicting snow all the way into May [8].

When German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania, they transferred the tradition onto local fauna, replacing hedgehogs with groundhogs. Several other towns in the region hold similar Groundhog Day eventsMore

Meat-free "Human Flesh Burgers"? Go vegan

Bob's BurgersNY Post; Ananda (DBM), Dhr. Seven, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Who taste tested the two to make the comparison, Anders Linden?

They have us eating worms and crickets and craving flesh.
“I am incredibly proud of this award and the great teamwork behind it. Our mission is to change how people eat, and it is our duty to use creativity as a tool to make this change happen,” said Henrik Åkerman, Swedish Oumph!'s global brand leader.

“As a small brand we need to be bold and ready to push some boundaries to breakthrough, and I think this campaign is a good example of us doing just that,” he said.

Tomás Ostiglia, executive creative director at creative agency LOLA MullenLowe, said a problem with selling plant-based products was people often said they don’t replicate the taste of [dead animal flesh] meat very well.

WARNING: Don't look! Car crash! Cannibal Corpse "Shredded Humans"

It tastes like a greasy dead bird.
“A claim most are tired of hearing and even more tired of being disappointed by,” he said. “And of course, a solution was to make a tasty plant-based human meat burger.

“The bravery of launching a risky idea that is 100% on-brand is always rewarded,” Ostiglia added.

Oumph! co-founder, corporate chef and head of innovation Anders Linden said developing a plant-based burger that tastes of human meat was “exciting, and a little bit scary.”

I wish I could go vegan. Is there a free kit?
“We developed this burger in no time as soon as we knew what taste and texture we were after,” Linden explained. [How did you know what taste? Are human snacks available somewhere in Sweden?]

“This is our ultimate and weird way of showing that it’s possible to create any type of food by using just plants.” VIDEO: Halloween vegan burger hyped for tasting like 'human meat' wins award (nypost.com)
Commentary: Some burgers made of flesh
Parasites from cannibalism and eating insects?
Ever think the powers that be are prepping us for something? Get used to eating worms, crickets, cockroach legs and dung (already an ingredient of hotdogs). Look up "offal" (pronounced \awful\).

In the future, in the time of Soylent Green, what's that secret ingredient? Everyone was starving. Many were dying. It seemed a waste to toss this protein packages in the funeral grounds for maggots to eat. So we filled them with toxic preservatives (embalming fluids), stuffed them in cling wrap and white Styrofoam platters, and sold them at the supermarket. People who devour pigs loved them, almost like bacon and fried tripe.

They already make insect-worm burgers (NPR).
It makes it sound worse that it's vegan, but vegetables are vegan. Anyone can add "natural" (a synthetic chemical mimicking a substance that occurs in nature which means there's nothing "natural" about it) and synthetic flavorants to anything. Why not marinate human flavors into boring shredded and crumbled beef for a real cannibal experience? Yum! There's nothing like eating our fellow mammals and calling it a good thing. Go vegan. At least go veg once a week. The body will thank you.
