Sony PlayStation goes all-digital?! (GMG)

HELP WANTED
HELP WANTED: Apply to be the new DG
Long ago there used to be a writer calling herself "Dukkha Girl." She disappeared, came back, faded again. We love DG. Where is she today? One can only imagine the fate of suburban motherhood or rural farm life with cats. Maybe, just maybe, she became a nun, forsaking the lower-life of householders for the high-life of striving full-time for the ultimate goal of nirvana. Who knows?

Help wanted. Inquire within (in the Comments)
We're sure she'll eventually be in touch to tell us. In the meantime, there's an attention-[whur] we imagine in the role, now that the original DG's been excluded. But this gal's branded a total "poser" and banned. It's got so bad, she lost her business.

I'm not a pose-er. I'm a trained model.
Beloved vegan yogini with a penchant for makeup, what will become of her? Does anyone out there have Cali Vibes Who is the future influencer, the next MrsBeast, doing yoga, eating at Cena Vegan?

She or he must exist out there. Look, there's Luke_7. If only that person would contact us here. Eris is not the most punk rock girl in the world. Will she never learn? For all we know, s/he's reading this right now ready for a close up, an unsung genius with an attitude. Contact us below in the Comments Section. Yes, you.

Happy? Miserable? Opinionated? Comment

No one imagines s/he could be a reliable correspondent for the despondent, a reporter of all that is dukkha in life. But someone can. Why not you?

Are you drawn to Daria's tone, to snarky commentary mumbled under breath, wishing to get a message to millions. Wisdom Quarterly has millions of views.

There are so many voices that need to be heard.
Great writing skills not a prerequisite, nor is knowledge of philosophy or religion, just opinions. Remember that episode of Family Guy when Peter got a job at the local news station for a weekly segment "What Really Grinds My Gears"? Like that. Do that. Opine. We'll edit and punch it up, make it relevant to the true extent of dukkha.

QUALIFICATIONS: Opinionated, snarky, willful, mad. Gender: open. Race: open. Religion if any: open. Writing skill level: average. Health: have a pulse. Psych: sass. Location: US or expat in Asia. Meditation practice: preferred. Musical taste: alt. Political leanings: open. Sense of humor: a must. Favorite color: should be purple. How to apply: Send writing sample.

Were Vikings aware of the Buddha?

Where is beauty greater than Estonia, Russia, Scandinavia, Denmark, Germany, and Belarus?
Bring me back one of those metal statue figurines, Warrior. I'll give you this charmed fruit.
Hey, that guy's Black! Were there really Black Vikings? The media says they were all redheads
.
Viking Buddha: Helgo Treasure
Were Vikings Buddhists? First of all, Vikings is a general term that means "Pirates" more than redheaded Icelandic peoples. Second, what would it have taken for them to be Buddhists?

They would have had to understand the language of the Asians with whom they came in contact. It is more likely, given their reputation, that they raided rather than traded.
Norwegian Olympian with "Viking" spirit

White Buddhists of Europa and Scandinavia
We were also interested in art
Archeological discoveries indicate contact with Asia and knowledge of the Buddha, which they would have seen as the "Light of Asia," the "Prince of Peace," a massive figure in the ancient Orient.

That they traded in Asian wares suggests that they knew what they were dealing in, seeing significance in the beauty of figurines and pieces of advanced art from that part of the world.

There is a Viking Buddha, and now we find a ten-year-old piece is actually a much older work of art from Asia found in Scotland.

Interestingly, the greatest Viking today is a Buddhist or in any case very friendly to Buddhists. He is the interviewer known as Viking Guru, who has repeatedly interviewed British Buddhist teacher Beth Upton and others.

Web Blackout (SOPA and PIPA protest)

End Piracy, Not Liberty

Millions of Americans oppose censoring the Web with SOPA and PIPA. These two bills before Congress, known in Orwellian Newspeak as the "Protect Intellectual Property Act" (PIPA) in the Senate and the "Stop Online Piracy Act" (SOPA) in the House, would censor free speech on the Web and impose harmful regulations on business.

Millions of Internet users and entrepreneurs already oppose SOPA and PIPA. The Senate will begin voting on Jan. 24, 2012. Make your voice heard. SIGN THIS PETITION urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA while there is still time. YouTube is likely to take the biggest hit as corporations take effective control of the Internet. This is the Web's NDAA.

The biggest Web protest ever

(Huff Post) Over 7,000 websites -- including Wikipedia and Google -- will protest anti-piracy legislation on Jan. 18, 2012. Corporate-friendly legislation is currently making its way through Congress. Sites in opposition to the measures are either "going dark" or posting information to educate visitors about bills H.R. 3261 (SOPA) and S. 968 (PIPA) that will give government and multinational corporations legal control of the Web. ("Fascism" is the wedding of these two bodies). Claiming to curb copyright infringement, they aim to curb a lot more than that. Many may support the bills' alleged intentions. But opponents and civil libertarians are worried that their passage would give government powerful censorship tools threatening free speech:
Ron Paul on NDAA, Martial Law, Patriot Act ("Repeal of the
4th Amendment Act") says "war on terrorism" is war on us.

France to punish Web piracy; in China, free

(wpromote.com)

PARIS – French lawmakers in the lower house today passed a bill that would cut the Internet connections of those who repeatedly download music and films illegally, creating what may be the first government agency to track and punish online pirates.

The bill passed 296 to 233 in a show of force by President Nicolas Sarkozy's governing conservatives after an initial failure last month. More>>

Google-China gives away music for free
wpromote.com

In an effort to gain market share from its shady competitor, Baidu, the search engine that came to dominate the largest online market in the world by offering illegal music downloads to Internet users and has since been sued over copyright infringement and a slew of other things, Google China has officially launched a free and legal music downloading service.
