Trainspotting is a 1996 British black comedy drama film directed by Danny Boyle, starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlyle, and Kelly Macdonald in her film debut. It is written in English and Scots [3]. Based on the 1993 novel by Irvine Welsh, the film was released in the United Kingdom on Feb. 23, 1996 [6].
The film follows a group of heroin addicts in an economically depressed area of Edinburgh, Scotland, and their passage through life. Today, Nov. 1, is Día de los Muertos. It’s a time when people celebrate the lives of those who've passed on -- a time to remember family members, close friends, pets, even strangers, perhaps all of humanity.
The Mexican American holiday holds a special place for many people as a way to grieve those who have died and keep their memory alive.
People usually celebrate with an ofrenda or offering altar that has photos of their loved ones, their favorite meals, orange marigolds, pan de muerto[bread for the dead, dead bread, soul cake offerings], sugar skull candies, and other items that have special meaning to those being remembered.

Joanne Pineda of Monterey Park (a small city in the San Gabriel Valley of LA County) has made a tradition of celebrating Día de los Muertos with her family. She said she’ll always remember the time when her dad asked her mom to dance to Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” in the living room.
“Thinking about it now really brings me tears because it just brought them so much joy. It brought them close together,” Pineda said. “For me to be there, to see that, how special it was to them I just think about it all the time.” More

Fern Brady (Asperger's syndrome, spectrum disorder) is a Scottish comedienne, podcaster, and writer. She achieved fame as a stand-up comedian at competitions such as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
She was then invited on to panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats. In 2020 she co-created the podcast Wheel of Misfortune. She has also featured on the Off Menu podcast with Ed Gamble and James Acaster.

UDMURTIA is officially the Udmurt Republic of Russia located in Eastern Europe. It is administratively part of the Volga Federal District. Its capital is the City of Izhevsk. It was established as the Udmurt (until 1931 Votskaya) Autonomous Region on Nov. 4, 1920 [11].
THE NAME UDMURT comes from odo-mort ("meadow people"), where the first part represents the Permic root od or odo ("meadow, glade, turf, greenery"). This is supported by a document dated 1557, in which the Udmurts [12] are referred to as lugovye lyudi ("meadow people"), alongside the traditional Russian name otyaki [13]. The second part murt means "person" (cf. Komi mort, Mari mari).
It is probably an early borrowing from a Scythian language: mertä or martiya ("person, man," Sanskrit Manus or Manushya), which is thought to have been borrowed from the Indo-Aryan term maryá- ("man, mortal, one who is bound to die," cf. Old Indic márya or "young warrior," and marut, "chariot warrior," both connected specifically with horses and chariots [14].
The Indo-Europeanists T. Gamkrelidze and V. Ivanov associate this word with horse-riding Altaic tribes in the Bronze Age [15, 16].
On the other hand, in the Russian tradition, the name "meadow people" refers to the inhabitants of the left bank of a particular river. Recently, the most relevant is the version of V. V. Napolskikh and S. K. Belykh. They suppose that ethnonym was borrowed either from Indo-Iranian anta or "outside, close, last, edge, limit, boundary," or the Turkic-Altaic anda/ant "oath (in fidelity), comrade, friend" [17].
HISTORY started on Nov. 4, 1920, when the Votyak Autonomous Oblast was formed [3]. On Jan. 1, 1932, it was renamed the Udmurt Autonomous Oblast [18], which was then reorganized into the Udmurt ASSR on Dec. 28, 1934 [3].
During World War II, many industrial factories were evacuated from the Ukrainian SSR and western borderlands to Udmurtia. On Oct. 11, 1991, the Supreme Council of the Udmurt ASSR adopted a law according to which the Udmurt ASSR acquired a new name — the Udmurt Republic [19]. More: Udmurtia

Were Vikings Buddhists? First of all, Vikings is a general term that means "Pirates" more than redheaded Icelandic peoples. Second, what would it have taken for them to be Buddhists?
They would have had to understand the language of the Asians with whom they came in contact. It is more likely, given their reputation, that they raided rather than traded.

Archeological discoveries indicate contact with Asia and knowledge of the Buddha, which they would have seen as the "Light of Asia," the "Prince of Peace," a massive figure in the ancient Orient.
That they traded in Asian wares suggests that they knew what they were dealing in, seeing significance in the beauty of figurines and pieces of advanced art from that part of the world.
There is a Viking Buddha, and now we find a ten-year-old piece is actually a much older work of art from Asia found in Scotland.
