Drugs do NOT cause drug addiction (video)

Ashley Wells, Seth Auberon, Pat Macpherson, Wisdom Quarterly; Johann Hari, Amy Goodman, Juan Gonzalez, Nermeen Shaikh (democracynow.org, Feb. 4, 2015)
Talking about liberation and enlightenment, the Buddha said an amazing thing: "Three things cannot remain hidden: the Moon, the Sun, and the Truth" (DigitalTurkey-graph/flickr.com).

My mongoose at my acid.
As Pres. Obama seeks $27.6 billion for federal police state sponsored "drug control" programs in Washington D.C.'s new budget, British journalist Johann Hari talks about amazing research and evidence.

Chasing the Scream (Johann Hari)
The century-old failed “drug war” could never have been successful -- while sucking up so much money and feeding a prison-industrial complex to no good effect -- because it was founded on a faulty assumption, lies, and motives other than drugs.

So much of what we "know" about addiction is wrong. Over the past four years Hari has traveled from England to the United States, Mexico, Canada, Uruguay, and Portugal to research his new book, Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the War of Drugs.

His findings will surprise many -- with the exception of Dr. Gabor Mate, MD (“Zeitgeist”) who has been saying this for years after experience with tens of thousands of addicts in Canada -- from the U.S. government’s persecution of Billie Holiday, to Vancouver’s success in addressing its heroin epidemic, to Portugal’s experiment with full decriminalization of all drugs. More

Chasing the Scream
It is now 100 years since drugs were first banned in the United States. On the eve of this centenary, journalist Johann Hari set off on an epic three-year, 30,000-mile journey into our bogus War on Drugs.

What he found is that more and more people all over the world are beginning to recognize three startling truths:
  1. Drugs are not what we think they are.
  2. Addiction is not what we think it is.
  3. And the Drug War has very different motives than the ones we have been by on our TV screens for so long.
Money and rap music lure "enemies" for police to track, attack, and imprison in this "war."

In his new book Chasing the Scream, Hari reveals his discoveries entirely through the life stories of people across the world whose lives have been transformed by this bogus war.

They range from a transsexual crack dealer in Brooklyn, New York, searching for her mother, to a teenage hit-man in Mexico searching for a way out.

It begins with Hari’s discovery that at the birth of the War on Drugs, jazz legend Billie Holiday was stalked and killed by the man who launched this American police state crusade. It ends with the story of a brave medical doctor who has led his country to decriminalize every drug, from cannabis to crack, with remarkable results.

Chasing the Scream lays bare what we really have been chasing in our century of drug war – in our hunger for drugs, and in our attempt to destroy them. This book will challenge and change how you think about one of the most controversial – and consequential – questions of our time.

We're launching a war on your plastic baggies, and all of you are terrorists! Back up!

What's being said about Chasing the Scream
“Johann Hari’s book is the perfect antidote to the war on drugs, one of the most under-discussed moral injustices of our time. It combines rigorous research and deeply human story-telling. It will prompt an urgently-needed debate’
Glenn Greenwald (The Intercept), Pulitzer Prize winner

“An absolutely stunning book. It will blow people away.”
Elton John, iconic musician

“Superb journalism and thrilling story-telling.”
Naomi Klein, author

“Wonderful… I couldn’t put it down.”
Noam Chomsky

“This book is, forgive the obvious phrase, screamingly addictive. The story it tells, jaw-droppingly horrific, hilarious and incredible, is one everyone should know: that it is all true boggles the mind, fascinates and infuriates in equal measure. Johann Hari, in brilliant prose, exposes one of the greatest and most harmful scandals of the past hundred years.”
Stephen Fry

“This book is as intoxicatingly thrilling as crack, without destroying your teeth. It will change the drug debate forever.”
Russell Brand, comedian, truth teller

Police make money from the War on Drugs
“Johann Hari has written a drug policy reform book like no other. Many have studied, or conducted, the science surrounding the manifold ills of drug prohibition. But Hari puts it all into riveting story form, and humanizes it… Part Gonzo journalism, part Louis CK standup, part Mark Twain storytelling, Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the War on Drugs is beautifully wrought: lively, humorous, and poignant. And it’s a compelling case for why the drug war must end, yesterday.”
– Norman Stamper, former police chief of Seattle

“In this energetic and thought-proving book, Hari harnesses the power of the personal narrative to reveal the true causes and consequences of the War on Drugs.”
– David Nutt, former chief scientific advisor on drugs to the British government

“This book is an entertainment, a great character study and page-turning storytelling all rolled into one very sophisticated and compelling cry for social justice.”
– Stephen Downing, formerly in charge of the Narcotics Division of the Los Angeles Police Department

Hong Kong plane crash caught on video

Emergency personnel sort through luggage recovered at the site of a commercial plane crash in Taiwan, Feb. 5, 2015. TransAsia Airways Flight 235 with 58 people aboard clipped a bridge shortly after takeoff and crashed into a river in the island's capital of Taipei (AP).

  • PHOTOS: 15 survivors, others missing or deceased (AP) A pilot of TransAsia Airways Flight 235 said, "Mayday, mayday, engine flameout" moments before the propjet banked sharply and crashed into a river, an aviation official said today, but declined to comment on a possible cause for the accident. Engine flameout refers to flames being extinguished in the combustion chamber of the engine, so that it shuts down and no longer drives the propeller. Causes of a flameout could include a lack of fuel or [striking] volcanic ash, a bird, or some other object. "Mayday" is an international emergency call.
(AK) In more bad news for China, Beijing-bound Malaysia Airlines MH370 has been declared lost and all aboard dead even though no part of it was found. Will government still search?

MH370 Malaysia Declares Plane's Disappearance an Accident
The Malaysian government has officially declared the disappearance of Malaysian Airline flight MH370 an accident and has said that there were no survivors. No trace of the Beijing-bound aircraft has been found since it disappeared on March 8, 2014.

Officials say that the recovery operation is ongoing but that the 239 people on board are now presumed dead. The plane's whereabouts are still unknown despite a massive international search in the southern Indian Ocean. The declaration on today should allow compensation payments to relatives of the victims.

Deepest sorrow: Malaysian officials added that the recovery of the missing aircraft remained a priority and that they had pursued "every credible lead." Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Director-General Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said that it was "with the heaviest heart and deepest sorrow that we officially declare Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 an accident.''

"All 239 of the passengers and crew on board MH370 are presumed to have lost their lives," he said. Following today's announcement, China's foreign ministry called for compensation for the victims' families. "We call on the Malaysian side to honor the promise made when they declared the flight to have been lost and earnestly fulfill their compensation responsibilities," spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a statement.

WARNING: Satire! "Burning Airlines Give You So Much More" lyrics below

The majority of the passengers on MH370 were Chinese. Four vessels are currently searching the seafloor with specialized sonar technology in a remote stretch of ocean where the plane is believed to have ended its flight.

Mr. Azharuddin added that Malaysia, China, and Australia have spared no expense in the hunt for the plane. No evidence: Based on analysis of satellite and aircraft performance data, MH370 is thought to be in seas far west of the Australian city of Perth. The vessels have so far searched an area of over 18,000 km sq (11,185 square miles), according to officials.

The search area involved also has known depths of up to 6,000 m (19,685 ft). Mr. Azharuddin said that the progress of the safety investigation into the accident would be released soon, but that "at this juncture, there is no evidence to substantiate any speculations as to the cause of the accident." The DCA said yesterday said that it planned to release an interim report on the investigation on March 7, a day before the first anniversary of the disappearance.

Conspiracy theorists will not welcome this official conclusion by Malaysia as it declares MH370 an "accident" and all on board presumed dead, airline to proceed with compensation. Why would they proceed with compensation? Because burning airlines give you so much more. More

PHUKET, Thailand - We entered the temple in a largely Chinese part of Poo-ket town in southern Thailand.

Here the temples are a grand Indochinese blend of Mahayana style, like royal Chinese courts, and Theravada Indian roots.

A loud rattle caught our attention echoing from the stone walls. Beautiful Thai women were holding canisters, bowing reverently, then tossing the contents to divine the future.

The West might resort to the Tarot or a beach pier "psychic," but in Chinese parts of Thailand and Malaysia divination sticks are the preferred method of casting the future. So long as people want to know, need to know, the future and what they will do and what will happen to them, there will be some form of determining which choice to make.

Translated below (C.J. Kuhne).

KARMA (action) says we have choice, and we will experience the resultants and fruits (vipaka and phala). But with choice comes responsibility, so we like a little help in choosing.
  • What is "good" karma, what is "bad" karma? That is easy to determine for oneself, hard to determine for others. If an action is motivated by greed, hatred/fear, or delusion, it is unwholesome, unskillful, and better left undone.
  • If, however, an action is motivated by nongreed, nonaversion, or nondelusion, it is wholesome and skillful and should not be left undone. So do it, and do more of it because one never regrets merit when one finally experiences the pleasant results and fruits of good karma.
What will the future be?
"God's a Buddhist" it turns out in Season 4 episode "Probably" when Satan learns that his real problem is that he's dependent on relationships and should consider being alone to find some balance in his life ("South Park"/VIDEO: SouthPark.nl/clips).

Is there a way to know the future? Yes. Live it.
What must they be whispering? The religious hush was broken not only by the loudly rattling sticks but also by all the fevered chatter. "O, Universe, what should I do (to succeed)?!"

"Go for it, O supplicant."

"But I'm not sure it's what I want."

"Okay, then, don't go for it."

"But if I don't, I'll never know if it was meant to be!"

"Look, supplicant, what the h*ll do you want from me? Just do what you want!"

Cash, bhat, yuan, euros = happiness?
"I don't know what I want! Is this 'the One,' O Universe?"

"[You want love, pleasure, fulfillment, and anything you think might get you these, like money, power, intoxicants, and fame.] There are lots of Ones, just pick one!"

"But, Universe, will I be happy if I do?"

"Just do it and find out!!"

You just pick! Then eat at City Wok! (SP)
"I'm not sure. Maybe I should throw these sticks and pay the temple priest to divine from my subconscious what I really want to do."

"Yes, yes, good plan, and get off my back. The Sticks know all! Follow the Sticks."

"Thank you, O nurturing Universe."

In a can (in her hand) is a larger number of numbered sticks. The believer (and one must really believe), by shaking the cup long and hard, sees what stick comes out. Otherwise, she starts again. The number on the stick leads one to a list from the list box (not pictured). The Seven Factors of Enlightenment (sutra)

Land of the Medicine Buddha, Soquel
Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was living near Rajagaha [the "Royal City" rung by seven hills], in the Bamboo Grove, in the Squirrels' Feeding Ground.

At that time Venerable Maha Kassapa, who was living in the Pipphali Cave [pipphali guha, on a nearby hill close to the famous Vulture Peak, named after the shadows cast by the shape of the rocks], was afflicted with a grave illness and was suffering from some disease.

.
Then the Blessed One arising from his solitude at eventide visited Maha Kassapa and sat down on a seat made ready (for him). Seated there the Blessed One spoke to him:

Novices in cave with the Buddha (Nadia Isakova)
"Well, Kassapa, how is it with you? Are you bearing up, are you enduring (this suffering)? Do your pains decrease or increase? Are there signs of your pains falling back and not advancing?"

"No, venerable sir, I am not bearing up, I am not enduring. The pain is very great. There is a sign not of pains decreasing but of increasing."

"Kassapa, these Seven Factors of Enlightenment are well expounded by me and are cultivated and fully developed by me. They conduce to perfect understanding, to full realization, (of the liberating/ennobling Four Noble Truths) and to Nibbana. What are the seven?"

How will we engineer our awakening?
1. "Mindfulness, the factor of enlightenment, Kassapa, is well expounded by me, and is cultivated and fully developed by me. It conduces to perfect understanding, to full realization, and to nirvana."

2. "Investigation of [phenomena], the factor of enlightenment...and to nirvana."

3. "Persevering-effort, the factor of enlightenment...and to nirvana."

4. "Rapture, the factor of enlightenment...and to nirvana."

5. "Calm, the factor of enlightenment...and to nirvana."

6. "Concentration [the first four absorptions, or rupa jhanas, constitute the right-concentration of the Noble Eightfold Path], the factor of enlightenment...and to nirvana."

Woodland animals can sense peace.
7. "Equanimity, the factor of enlightenment, Kassapa, is well expounded by me, and is cultivated and fully developed by me. It conduces to perfect understanding, to full realization, and to nirvana."

"These seven factors of enlightenment, Kassapa, are well expounded by me and are cultivated and fully developed by me. They conduce to perfect understanding, to full realization, and to nirvana."

"Most assuredly, O Blessed One, they are factor of enlightenment. Most assuredly, O Welcome One (Sugata), they are factors of enlightenment!"

Thus said the Buddha, and Ven. Maha Kassapa, glad at heart, approved the utterances of the Buddha. Thereupon, Ven. Kassapa recovered from that affliction, and that affliction, of Ven. Kassapa disappeared. [The same is recounted for Ven. Maha Moggalana, foremost in psychic powers].

Tibetan novices gather round Medicine Buddha
Having known by direct experience the seven kinds of dharma called the "Factors of Enlightenment" that destroy ALL suffering and rebirth for beings who wander through this Wheel of Life and Death (samsara), they defeat the army of Mara, the Killer [who obstructs awakening and keeps one cycling in ignorance through the planes of disappointment and suffering], these excellent persons were liberated from endless wandering through the "three spheres" [Sensual Sphere, Fine Material Sphere, and Immaterial Sphere, the kama-, rupa-, and arupa-lokas]. They have realized nirvana and gone beyond all rebirth, aging, suffering, death, and danger.

O, good people! Let us recite this Bojjhanga Sutra, which is endowed with the aforementioned attributes, which gives not a few benefits and which is like medicine and a mantra.

These seven factors of enlightenment -- namely, mindfulness, investigation of phenomena, effort (energy), rapture (joy), tranquility (serenity), concentration, and equanimity, which are all well-expounded by the All Seeing Sage -- promote, when practiced consistently, penetration of the Truth, cessation of suffering, and direct knowledge of the path to enlightenment. By this utterance of Truth may there always be happiness for you.

Once the Buddha saw Maha Moggalana and Maha Kassapa physically ill and in pain. He had them bring to mind the Seven Factors of Enlightenment.

Light streams into Buddhist cave in faraway Mandalay, Burma (huffingtonpost.com)

Having rejoiced at hearing the discourse reminding them of these liberating factors, they were immediately freed of their illness. By this utterance of Truth may there always be happiness to you.

Once when the King of the Dharma was himself oppressed by physical disease, he had Ven. Cunda recite the discourse respectfully, and having rejoiced at the Truth of this discourse was himself immediately cured of that physical disease. By this utterance of Truth may there always be happiness to you.

The diseases of the three Great Sages that were eradicated reached the stage of never occurring again like the mental defilements eradicated by the (magga-) path. By this utterance of Truth may there always be happiness for you.

Bhante, we want to wake up! What is the secret?

The Buddha has laid out the path and detailed it. It is there to be unpacked with the help of practitioners and the Commentaries and your own investigation. It's wide open. The secret is that there is no secret.

Hmm. Hmmmm. Hmph! Any other secrets? (Laughter).

Do you know about the limbs or "factors of enlightenment"?

We've heard of them. Let me look them up. What are they again?

The Buddha and the Redhead, arhats in Thailand (AF2899 Jon ,,nails,,/flickr.com).

The Satta Bojjhanga or "Seven Factors of Enlightenment" are:
  1. mindfulness (sati)
  2. investigation of phenomena (dhamma-vicaya)
  3. energy (viriya, persistent-effort, padhāna)
  4. rapture (pīti, joy)
  5. tranquility (passaddhi, serenity)
  6. concentration (samādhi)
  7. equanimity (upekkhā).
"Because they lead to enlightenment (awakening), therefore they are called factors of enlightenment" (S. XLVI, 5).

While in the second factor, dhamma-vicaya, the word dhamma is taken by many translators to stand for its most common meaning, the Buddha's Teaching or Doctrine (Pali the Dhamma, Sanskrit the "Dharma"), it much more likely refers to bodily-and-mental phenomena (nāma-rūpa-dhammā) as presented to the investigating mind by the first factor of enlightenment, mindfulness.

(This is clear from the four foundations, or satipatthāna, in the sutra on "How to Establish the Four Foundations of Mindfulness"). With this translation in mind, the term may be rendered "investigation of [material-and-mental] phenomena."

Sid came from the west to India.
In A.X.102, the seven factors are said to be the means of attaining the threefold wisdom, defined in Buddhism as the realization of three special knowledges: remembering past lives (previous rebirths), the divine eye, and the extinction of all cankers (full enlightenment).

They may be attained by means of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, as it is said in S.XLVI.1 and explained in the Mindfulness of Breathing Discourse (MN 118):
  1. "Whenever, O meditators, one dwells contemplating the body (kāya), feeling (vedanā, sensation), mind (citta), and mind-objects (dhammā, mental phenomena), strenuous, clearly-conscious, mindful, after subduing worldly greed and grief, at such a time one's mindfulness is present and undisturbed. And whenever one's mindfulness is present and undisturbed, at such a time one has gained and is developing the factor of enlightenment 'mindfulness.' Thus this factor of enlightenment reaches fullest perfection.
  2. "Whenever, while dwelling with mindfulness, one wisely investigates, examines, and considers the dhamma [physical-and-mental phenomena or Buddhist doctrine or both]...at such a time one has gained and is developing the factor of enlightenment 'investigation of phenomena' (dhamma-vicaya).
  3. "Whenever, while wisely investigating, one's energy is firm and unshaken...at such a time one has gained and is developing the factor of enlightenment 'energy.'
  4. "Whenever, while firm in energy, there arises in one super-sensuous rapture [joy, bliss, gladness, elation]...at such a time one has gained and is developing the factor of enlightenment 'rapture.'
  5. "Whenever, while enraptured in mind, one's body and one's mind become composed...at such a time one has gained and is developing the factor of enlightenment 'tranquillity.'
  6. "Whenever, while composed in body and happy, one's mind becomes concentrated...at such a time one has gained and is developing the factor of enlightenment 'concentration.'
  7. "Whenever one looks with complete unbiased awareness on one's mind thus concentrated...at such a time one has gained and is developing the factor of enlightenment 'equanimity.'
The Seven Factors
Ven. Piyadassi Thera (BPS.lk, Wheel No. 1) edited by Wisdom Quarterly
The "Three Baskets" (the Tipitaka, or bundles of ola palm leaf writings recording the Sutras, Code of Discipline, and the Higher Teachings) called the Buddhist Pali canon, is replete with references to the Factors of Enlightenment expounded by the Enlightened One on different occasions.

In the Book of the Kindred Sayings, Book V (Samyutta Nikaya, Maha Vagga), one finds a special section under the title Bojjhanga Samyutta where the Buddha talks about the enlightenment factors in diverse ways.

In this section are three discourses or sutras that have been recited by Buddhists since the time of the Buddha as a protection (paritta or pirith) against pain, disease, and adversity.

The term bojjhanga is composed of bodhi (enlightenment or awakening) + anga (limb or factor).

Bodhi means enlightenment or insight concerned with the full realization of the Four Noble Truths that ennoble (enlighten) one, namely: the noble truth of unsatisfactoriness/suffering, the noble truth of the origin of suffering/disappointment, the noble truth of the cessation of suffering/disappointment, and the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering/disappointment.

Anga means factors, limbs, or constituents. Bodhi+anga (bojjhanga), therefore, means the "factors of enlightenment, the factors of wisdom, the factors of liberating-insight.

“'Enlightenment factors! Enlightenment factors!' they say, venerable sir. Now, why are they called 'enlightenment factors'?” asked a monastic of the Buddha. The succinct reply of the Teacher was, “They conduce to enlightenment, recluse, that is why they are so called” (S V 72, PTS).

Further says the Buddha, “Just as, meditators, in a peaked house all rafters go together to the peak, slope to the peak, join at the peak, and of all of them the peak is reckoned chief, even so, meditators, the meditator who cultivates and makes much of the Seven Factors of Wisdom, slopes to nirvana, inclines to nirvana, tends to nirvana” (Kindred Sayings, V, p. 63). 6 grand illusions that keep us enslaved

Wisdom Quarterly; Sigmund Fraud (WakingTimes.com, Feb. 2, 2015)
The Buddha talked about four illusions, distortions, "perversions," seeing things as they are NOT. Enlightenment is waking up from delusions. We are not even awake to daily illusions.
.
In prison, illusions can offer comfort.
– former South African political prisoner Nelson Mandela

C'mon, ya don't really wanna read this.
For a magician to fool an audience the deceit must go unseen, and to this end one crafts an illusion to avert attention from reality. While the audience is entranced, the deceptive act is committed, and for the fool, reality then becomes inexplicably built upon on a lie. That is, until the fooled person wakes up and recognizes the truth of the fact that one has been duped.

Comedian Russell Brand begins to see.
Maintaining willful suspension of disbelief in the illusion, however, is often more comforting than acknowledging the magician’s secrets.

We live in a world of illusion. So many of the concerns that occupy the mind and the tasks that fill the calendar arise from planted (conditioned) impulses to become someone or something that we are not.

This is no accident. As we are indoctrinated into an authoritarian corporate consumer culture, which now dominates the human race, we are trained that certain aspects of our society are unquestionable truths and that particular ways of being and behaving are preferred.

Psychopaths disempower many people in this way. They blind us with never ending barrages of suggestions and absolutes, which are aimed at shattering self-confidence and confidence in the future.

Bansky, the revered and elusive revolutionary street artist, once commented:

Wait, this is MY life? I thought I was in rehearsal!
“People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you, and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers, and they are laughing at you.” – Banksy

Advertising is just the tip of the iceberg. When we look further we see that the overall organization of life is centered around the pursuit of illusions and automatic obedience to institutions and ideas that are not at all what they seem. We are in a very real sense enslaved. Many call this somewhat intangible feeling of oppression "the matrix," a system of total control that invades the mind, programming individuals to pattern themselves in accordance with a mainstream conformist version of reality (the consensus reality), no matter how wicked it gets.

The grandest of the illusions that keep us enslaved to the matrix, the ones that have so many of us still entranced, are outlined below for your consideration.

1. The Illusion of Law, Order, and Authority
I can prove this is not an illusion. Obey!
For so many of us, following the law is considered a moral obligation, and many of us gladly do so even though corruption, scandal, and wickedness repeatedly demonstrate that the law is plenty flexible for those who have the money to bend it.

Police brutality and police criminality are rampant in the US, the courts favor the wealthy, and we can no longer even lead lives privately due to the intrusion of the NSA, FBI, CIA, NSC, DHS, Google, Facebook, Twitter, and the "surveillance state" in general.

And all the while the illegal and immoral Orwellian permanent war rages on in the background of life, murdering, and destroying whole nations and cultures.

Occupy Hong Kong says no to China.
The social order is not what it seems, for it is entirely predicated on conformity, obedience, and acquiescence which are enforced by fear of violence. History teaches us again and again that the law is as often as not used as an instrument of oppression, social control, and plunder, and any so-called authority in this regard is false, hypocritical, and unjust.

Ukraine says no to its police, arrests them.
When the law itself does not follow the law, there is no law, there is no order, and there is no justice. The pomp and trappings of authority are merely a concealment of the truth that the current world order is predicated on control, not consent.

2. The Illusion of Prosperity and Happiness
Why aren't you more beautiful, Ugly?
Adorning oneself in expensive clothes and trinkets, and amassing collections of material possessions that would be the envy of any 19th century monarch has become a substitute for genuine prosperity. Maintaining the illusion of prosperity, though, is critical to our economy as it is, because its foundation is built on consumption, fraud, credit, and debt. The banking system itself has been engineered from the top down to create unlimited wealth for some while taxing the eternity out of the rest of us.

True prosperity is a vibrant environment and an abundance of health, happiness, love, and relationships. As more people come to perceive material goods as the form of self-identification in this culture, we slip farther and farther away from the experience of true prosperity.

3. The Illusion of Choice and Freedom
We Donkeys and Elephants are opposites.
Read between the lines and look at the fine print, we are not free, not by any intelligent standard. Freedom is about having choice, yet in today’s world, choice has come to mean a selection between available options, always from within the confines of a corrupt legal and taxation system and within the boundaries of culturally accepted and enforced norms.

Just look no further than the phony institution of modern democracy to find a shining example of false choices appearing real. Two entrenched, corrupt, archaic political parties are paraded as the pride and hope of the nation, yet third party and independent voices are intentionally blocked, ridiculed and plowed under.

The illusion of choice and freedom is a powerful oppressor because it fools us into accepting chains and short leashes as though they were the hallmarks of liberty. More
