China: world's biggest gold deposit? No

African Mansa Musa would laugh in his soup at calling China gold rich. Uganda's where it's at.

Now, along with our partner, Putin's Russia, we will divide the world in three: CH, RU, US.

World's largest gold deposit found, worth over US $80 billion
(Nature) A deposit of high-quality gold ore containing around 1,000 metric tons (1,100 US tons) of the precious metal has been discovered in central China, according to Chinese state media.

Valued at approximately 600 billion yuan or U.S. 83 billion dollars, the discovery could be considered the largest and most lucrative reservoir of gold ever uncovered, surpassing the 900 metric tons estimated to lie within the mother of all gold reserves, South Deep mine in South Africa.

The Geological Bureau of Hunan Province announced the detection of 40 gold veins within a depth of 1.2 miles (2 kms) in the northeast Hunan county of Pingjiang.

These alone were thought to contain 300 metric tons of gold, with 3D modeling suggesting additional reserves may be found to a depth of 3 kms.

The massive find was made in Pingjiang County, well within undisputed Chinese territory. "Many drilled rock cores showed visible gold," says bureau prospector Chen Rulin.

Core samples suggest every metric ton of ore could contain as much as 138 grams (nearly 5 ounces) of gold – an extraordinary level of quality considering ore excavated from underground mines is considered high grade if it contains more than 8 grams.

China already dominates the world's gold market with reserves considered to be in excess of 2,000 tons earlier in 2024, its mining industry contributing around 10 percent of the global output.

Gold prices down, oil up, war still profitable

Pfc. Sandoval, Ashley Wells, Seth Auberon, Sheldon S. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Gold prices are fixed and manipulated because there's no shortage now. Not only can it be made, massive amounts were found in Uganda, Africa, more gold than King Solomon's mines, which were also in Africa, site of the next place the US needs to invade bring democracy and women's rights.

What will it be worth, a beating or a bullet?
What is the most profitable thing of all? It used to be gold, real estate (territory), crude oil, electronics, then synthetic pharmaceuticals used to "treat" (never "cure," because that wouldn't be as profitable). It will be again. Big Pharma made a massive killing during the pandemic or plandemic scare. Tests didn't work, masks didn't work, shots didn't work, but anything that did or could was stopped (ivermectin, antiparasitics, etc.)

(Major Barbara, 1941) has summarized the dichotomy between donation-based charity and war-based capitalism better than playwright George Bernard Shaw? No one. It's all about money for those who will not let go. Skip forward to Minute 27:51.

This one dummy, Mr. White, the "beer, beans, Bible, and bullets man," likes to call in and encourage everyone to invest in tangible gold, arm the family, barricade the house, build a bunker if you can, train in the woods, buy camouflage clothes and anything labeled "tactical," whatever that means. And, fearfully, many follow, not unlike lemmings or Q-Anon enthusiasts. These things, like gold prices, are completely controlled. On the CIA network (aka CNN), it's almost as if they're saying it, it's not true or anything to worry about. The nominal left calling for censorship to silence alternative voices? They have got us by the curly shorts and aren't letting go.

What to invest in, what to support? AI spying software (like Pegasus)? ChatGPT stock? Elon Musk, Inc., X (Twitter), SpaceX, Meta (Facebook), Alphabet, The Carlyle Group (Bush), Blackwater (or whatever they've morphed into), the canned bean industry, Bible Publishers Warehouse, munitions makers?

TJDS: Ugandan gold means a US war, Ukraine's collapsed, Hillary Supporter is back (video)

Mike MacRae, K. Metzger, Jimmy Dore; Pfc. Sandoval, Ashley Wells, Sheldon S., Wisdom Quarterly

Uncle Sam and Cia rule the world
Uganda, a poor country on the continent of Africa, discovers $12 trillion USD in gold deposits, which will force the USA/CIA to "bring democracy" to this "backward" land now that it's rich, much as "black gold" found underground forces the Pentagon to "help" nations in the Middle East to advance the cause of women and children, human rights, education and hygiene, and any other excuse it can think of to garner support from the US public to believe the US Empire is interested in the welfare of the poorest places in the world that do not become noticeable until they light up on a military-industrial complex (US business-military alliance) map, who then must get in and cut themselves a big piece of the capitalist cake, the profits to be had from invading and occupying parts of the world we have no legitimate business in other than business. The US is in the business of business, and we will use our military to enforce that whenever we wish.
  • Ukraine collapses under weight of Russia and USA's "help":
Democrats and Republicans will stand for a Third Party. On this they're united.

What Uganda’s gold could mean for crypto

Andrew Singer (cointelegraph.com, 6/24/22); Sheldon S., Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Uganda’s gold discovery: What it could mean for crypto
Blockchain has a future, Bitcoin likely does not.
Is gold becoming inflationary? Can Bitcoin replace it as a store of value due to [Bitcoin's artificial] scarcity and reliability? Are Uganda’s [gold] numbers implausible?

Questions arise. These are fraught times for the cryptocurrency and blockchain sector, so it isn’t surprising that industry proponents might seize upon any promising news to help charge flagging markets.
US e-cash: digital currency like cash without Fed
A Reuters' report out of Uganda last week about a massive gold ore discovery [worth $12+ trillion] supplied just this kind of fuel. What does the state of gold mining [on the continent of] Africa have to do with the price of global Bitcoin (BTC)? Quite a bit, potentially.

Bitcoin has periodically laid claim to being digital gold largely on the strength of its [artificially] strict 21 million supply limit, which makes it non-inflationary and a good store of value — in theory.

Gold, of course, is the store of value par excellence, with a limited supply and a solid track record that goes back millennia.

But if Uganda is sitting on 31 million metric tons of gold ore, as the government declared, might not that substantially boost the world’s gold supply? That in turn could lower the price of gold — and make it a less secure “store of value” generally.

Gold’s loss could be the cryptocurrency’s gain. Some drew encouragement from this notion. Microstrategies CEO Michael Saylor, for instance, posted a video on Twitter about the Ugandan discovery of “huge gold deposits,” which might net 320,158 metric tons of refined gold “valued at $12.8 trillion.”

As Saylor noted on June 17, 2022: “#Gold is plentiful. #Bitcoin is scarce," further telling CNBC:

“Every commodity in the world has looked good in a hyperinflationary environment, but the dirty secret is you can make more oil, you can make more silver, you can make more gold…Bitcoin’s the only thing that looks like a commodity that is scarce and capped.”

But perhaps there is less here than meets the eye. The 320,158 metric tons of refined gold that the Ugandan mining ministry spokesman said could be produced from the new deposits in the country’s northeastern corner would far exceed the 200,000 metric tons in above-ground gold that exist in the entire world today.

One gold mining trade publication went so far as to suggest the Ugandan government may have been confusing metric tons with ounces in its projections. More

Kony 2012 is a "white savior" SCAM (video)

Sonali Kolhatkar (UprisingRadio.org), Emira Woods; ; Jason Margolis (TheWorld.org)
Invisible Children founders and filmmakers pose with soldiers from the Sudan People's Liberation Army near the Congo-Sudan border in April 2008 (Glenna Gordon).

The film “Kony 2012” is the biggest piece of trash I’ve ever seen.
Few Americans online this week have missed the excitement and furor over the super-viral video Kony 2012. It has been clicked (not actually watched all the way through) 70 million time on YouTube since its March 5th posting. The 27 minute video produced by the activist group “Invisible Children, Inc.” is a follow up to their 2006 documentary “Invisible Children” on child soldiers, child abuse, and child molestation in Uganda's Civil war. The [Christian] San Diego based group advocates war -- American military intervention, helping to pass a 2010 bill and supporting a 2011 decision by the Obama administration to deploy 100 special forces soldiers to assist in the kill/capture of Joseph Kony, commander of the insurgent Lords Resistance Army. The video advertises an “Action Kit” it sells containing stickers and bracelets for $30 US dollars while “redefining the propaganda.” More

Kony 2012, Terrible or Terrific?
The film “Kony 2012” is the biggest piece of trash I’ve ever seen.

What? The filmmakers behind Kony 2012 are an inspiration. They are shedding a light on a neglected conflict, spurring people to action and saving lives [and just making a little money exploiting half truths].

For those who aren’t among the nearly [70] million people, and rapidly growing, who have watched Kony 2012 online, the film is about Joseph Kony, a notorious Ugandan warlord who heads the Lord’s Resistance Army, or LRA. His group is said to have abducted 60,000 children over the years, turning boys into brainwashed soldiers and girls into sex slaves.

I reported a 4-minute radio story about the 30-minute film yesterday, its incredible popularity and success in bringing light to an important topic. I also reported on the controversy surrounding the film -- it’s inaccurate... More

Kony, we are all Africans (video)

TheWorld.org (PRI); Mark Memmott (The Two Way, NPR.org); Wisdom Quarterly

KONY 2012 YouTube Campaign aims to stop infamous Uganda militia leader. If only the world could stop our own American warlord, B.S. Obama, and the racist Republican cronies who want to replace him with a lot more of the same.

More than [39] million people have watched the video “Kony 2012″ on YouTube this week. The video is about Joseph Kony, infamous leader of the Ugandan guerrilla group, the Lord’s Resistance Army. The new video is introducing Joseph Kony to a lot of people, but it’s also generating a lot of criticism. More

(NPR) The hashtag term #stopkony has been trending on Twitter all day, Reddit.com has been deluged with posts about Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony, and he's suddenly the subject of a quickly growing number of blog posts and news stories.

All, apparently, because of an activist group's quite successful effort to have its latest video about atrocities done by Kony's Lord's Resistance Army go viral.

The organization is Invisible Children, and the 30-minute video is indeed a powerful piece of work. It skillfully tells the tale of Kony's army, which as NPR's Michele Kelemen has previously reported, "has been terrorizing Uganda and surrounding nations for decades ... [and] has specialized in kidnapping children and forcing them to fight."

Last October, President Obama announced he was sending 100 U.S. troops to central Africa to train and advise militaries that are trying to track down Kony and his fighters.

According to The Daily Dot, on Tuesday night Invisible Children's video "exploded across multiple Web communities," More

Africa: Buddhism Gaining Ground

What is African Buddhism?
Engaged Buddhists discussion (2/21/08)

And what is African Pureland Buddhism? These two questions tackle a delicate subject that cannot be answered straightforwardly. So it remains much of an open question. What we ask viewers and participants is to give their opinion/position/critique on:
  • What is African Buddhism?
  • What is African Pureland?
  • Is there, or should there be, such a thing as African Buddhism?
  • What would it entail?
  • Who decides what African Buddhism is?

It is important to keep ethical principles in mind. Buddhism should not be propagated as a power structure seeking converts. The Dharma is shared as a mutual means of guidance to help end suffering. Share your ideas and suggestions on the topic for the benefit of the African socio-spiritual-cultural Continent at:

Bhante Buddharakkhita (Uganda), a Theravada Buddhist monk born in Uganda, East Africa. He became interested in Buddhism while he was a student in India in 1990. He was ordained by the late Sayadaw U Silananda. In 2005, he founded the Uganda Buddhist Centre in Kampala, Uganda, the first Buddhist Center in Uganda. He is the author of Planting Dhamma Seeds: The emerging Buddhism in Africa. He is also a resident monk in West Virginia (USA) at the Bhavana Society Forest monastery. South Africa (Wikipedia, WQ edit)

Buddhism has been gaining ground in South Africa. The country now comprises the largest Buddhist community in Africa. South Africa is also the base for organizations aiming to spread Buddhism in Africa, such as the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

History
Apart from various Buddhist groups brought to the Cape Colony from Southeast Asia during the 1680s, and the many indentured laborers brought to Natal from India during the latter part of the 19th Century (some of whom were Buddhist, and some of whom were Hindu who later converted to Buddhism once in South Africa), most Buddhists in South Africa are non-Asian converts.

Nan Hua Temple Complex, near Johannesburg, South Africa

Various Buddhist groups grew up in the major cities since the 1970s. There has been a proliferation of distinct Buddhist traditions since the mid-1980s. These include Theravada, Zen, Nichiren, and Tibetan schools. The Fo Guang Shan Buddhist order has erected Nan Hua Temple (pictured above), the largest Buddhist temple and monastery in Africa, in the town of Bronkhorstspruit near Pretoria.

Another notable Buddhist center in the country is the Buddhist Retreat Centre in Ixopo, KwaZulu-Natal. The Nichiren Buddhist lay group Soka Gakkai International also has a community center in Parkwood, Johannesburg.

A community of lay and ordained Buddhist practitioners live in the modern and tranquil setting in the peaceful and beautiful suburb of Blairgowrie/Randburg/Johannesburg. Classes open to the general public as well as structured study classes are held at the Vajrapani Buddhist Centre and various other venues in Gauteng. The center is run by the resident teacher Gen Kelsang Legden, who was ordained in the UK in 1997 by the spiritual director, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union.

A 2003 study estimated that in the late 1990s there were a total of 6,000 Buddhists in South Africa (3,000 of Asian ancestry) out of a total population of 42 million (or 0.01% of the total population). [Ref]
