The Monks of Emptiness
![]() |
| Zen monk beggar spy on street corner |
Suizen was traditionally practiced by the Komusō (“monks of emptiness”), the Zen Buddhist monks of the Fuke sect of Japan who flourished during the Edo period (1600-1868).
Instrumental music is rare in all Buddhist practice, where instruments usually accompany ritual chants if they are used at all.
With suizen, the playing of the shakuhachi as a spiritual exercise is at the core of the religious practice, making it unique in the world of Buddhism (2, 3). More

Hillary: We funded terrorist Osama bin Laden
Jimmy Dore, Kurt Metzger (jimmydore.com); Pfc. Sandoval, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Hillary Clinton predicts blowback from U.S.-funded Nazis in Ukraine. It has happened before when we want to fight a US-proxy war against Russia (formerly the Soviet Union) by using Osama bin Laden as a "warrior" trying to get on the road to "peace."

"Stoner Thoughts" on 4/20
Cali Callers, Heidi & Frank (FHF Show); Crystal Q., Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
![]() |
| Whoa, man, what a trip! (trippy clipart) |
What's a "stoner"? It's a person who habitually gets stoned, so much so that they have a lot of time on their hands to wonder. What they wonder about is of a class of pointless peculiar mind blowing questions, KOANS -- "stoner thoughts" like:
- How many Lowe's would Rob Lowe rob if Rob Lowe could rob Lowe's?
- What if there were no hypothetical questions?
- Why is the word abbreviation so long?
- If you're waiting on a waiter, doesn't that make you the waiter?
- If tomato is a fruit, does that make ketchup a smoothie?
- Sex workers in Japan will get a bailout because that country has a more enlightened view of sex work. Not a stoner thought, just true.
- Do nudists have any private parts or just public parts?
- Did you know "up" for something and "down" for something means exactly the same thing?
- Last month 90 thousand travelers went through LAX Airport, where last year 2.1 million went through, so if the Wright Brothers were time travelers who came back today and looked up, would they say, "We developed flight, and you didn't do anything with it!"?
- If a dyslexic is reading a book about a dog, does he think he's reading a Bible?
- Shouldn't buildings be called builts?
- Why do doctors call it a practice? You're still practicing?!
If you're a guard at the Samsung Store, are you a "Guardian of the Galaxies"?
Koan practice comic (Ioanna Salajan) - "I'm sorry" and "I apologize" have the exact same meaning, unless you're at a funeral. lol!
- Do you realize the word bed looks like a bed?
- What if your name were Tony but spelled like Bologna (baloney)?
- "Faded AS" is the same backward and forward. (It's not, but a stoner won't know).
- If someone dies in a living room, is it still called a living room?
- Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?
- What if we're all dying, and everything is just our lives flashing before us?
- Was "Dazed and Confused" Woody Harrelson's first movie? (No, he wasn't in it. It was Matthew McConaughey's first movie playing the character "Wooder.")
- Nothing is on fire; fire is on things.
- If you smoke pot on a boat, is it then called seaweed?
- If we see water, do fish see air or, like, when they swim to the shore, is that the beach for them?
- If you put on a sweater when it's hot, soon you'll become a sweater.
- If humans get hemorrhoids, do astronauts get asteroids?

WOMEN: Time's "Person of the Year"!

| OK, I lost. I lost. And you know what, I lost. |
Movie stars are supposedly nothing like you and me. They're svelte, glamorous, self-possessed. They wear dresses we can't afford and live in houses we can only dream of.
Yet it turns out that -- in the most painful and personal ways -- movie stars are more like you and me than we ever knew.

| A young Ashley Judd, budding actress |
Astounded and offended by Weinstein's attempt to coerce her into bed, Judd managed to escape. But instead of keeping quiet about the kind of encounter that could easily shame a woman into silence, she began spreading the word.
"Literally, I exited that hotel room at the Peninsula Hotel in 1997 and came straight downstairs to the lobby, where my dad was waiting for me, because he happened to be in Los Angeles from Kentucky, visiting me on the set.
"And he could tell by my face -- to use his words -- that something devastating had happened to me. I told him. I told everyone."
[Her dad then marched upstairs and violently beat Weinstein, was arrested, and is serving a long prison sentence due to Weinstein's influence with attorney (and aggressive bisexual hypocrite) Hillary Clinton, who has decades of experience covering for sexual harassers like her husband, Pres. Bill, a star in the Democratic Party -- no, that didn't happen, of course.] She recalls one screenwriter friend telling her that Weinstein's behavior was an open secret [in Hollywood and in the Clinton White House]...
