Las Vegas bombed, loses Tropicana Hotel

FULL VIDEO: Tropicana Hotel imploded in true Las Vegas spectacle
(News 3 Las Vegas) Oct. 9, 2024: Bombers (controlled demolishers) love spectacle in Iraq as in the U.S. Some purposely rigged and blew up (blew in) the famous Tropicana Hotel in Lost Wages, Nevada, this morning, while a fireworks show and drones were seen swarming the desert sky.

There was advance notice of the event and, in true Vegas style, rooms were being rented out in neighboring high rise hotels for better views of the destruction and subsequent implosion. As with 9/11 and the purposeful bringing down of Twin Towers real estate in Manhattan (NY, NY), the entire area was "Trop dusted," with dangerous particulate matter now clogging the lungs of Las Vegans breathing without protective firefighter filters, iron lungs, and/or sufficiently stringent facemasks.

This is the 15th such takedown (controlled demolition) on or near the Vegas Strip. Will future lung cancer cases be compensated? Stay indoors until the skies clear and blow this over into the desert and all over Bunny Ranch.

This whole spectacle is reminiscent of the "shock and awe" campaign the U.S. military rained down on Iraq (Mesopotamia) that time it wanted to steal artifacts like Gilgamesh's body and tomb relics and control the Middle East with its partner and client state Israel no matter what Iran or Saudi Arabia had to say about it. US War on Iraq: 'Shock and awe' assault on Baghdad begins (2003)
(ITN Archive) On 21 March 2003, ITN's John Irvine reported from CIA Asset and Supreme Leader Saddam Hussein's Iraqi capital of Baghdad as the "shock and awe" phase of the US-led war campaign by air got underway. While the US bombardment of Baghdad had begun on 19 March, this had in fact consisted of relatively limited strikes targeting Saddam Hussein himself (who was hiding faraway in a tunnel), senior regime officials, and other specific targets. At 17:00 UTC on 21 March, the air campaign moved into the next phase. In one night, 504 cruise missiles were launched [dumped out of the US armory so that new more modern ones could be justifiably ordered to enrich private war profiteers like the Bush Dynasty, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, and others] at Baghdad's government district. The pictures captured by ITN's cameras that night are to this day considered defining images of the 2003 invasion and the Iraq War as a whole.

(KTLA 5) Aug. 12, 2023: Video captured a mob of thieves swarming a Nordstrom for high end bags in Canoga Park as they cleared out the store during a destructive robbery on Saturday.

Chaos ensued as a large group of masked and hooded thieves clad in dark clothing scrambled around the store, grabbing armfuls of designer clothing, purses, accessories, and more.

Los Angeles police (LAPD) received reports of the mass robbery at the Westfield Topanga Mall around 4:00 pm. Police said anywhere between 20-50 suspects are believed to be involved and estimated around $60,000 to $100,000 worth of merchandise was taken.

KTLA's Jennifer McGraw reports on August 12, 2023. Details: ktla.com/news/local-news/vide... KTLA 5 News, keeping Southern Californians informed since 1947.

Why women flash breasts at Mardi Gras

Larissa Rzemienski (YourTango, 2/20/17); Ananda, Jen B., Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
.
The truth about why women show their boobs at Mardi Gras
Throw beads, or don't look!
What comes to mind when thinking of Mardi Gras ("Fat Tuesday")? For some, it’s the traditional fare -- extravagant parade floats, exquisite masks, shiny beads. For most, it's women flashing their boobs, wild parties, and the craziness that is Bourbon Street.

Mardi Gras is a historical celebration that dates back thousands of years and was intended to be a Holy Week hedonistic celebration living it up on the day before 40 days of Lent (abstaining, sacrificing, giving up, letting go, and breaking bad habits).

Come, all ye sinners. Feel shame! Offend not the Lord. Pyre ashes, get your pyre ashes.
The male of the species, living in big cities, has no shame. Monkey see, money do (Seinfeld).
.
It's a time to fatten up before the now largely symbolic fasting. But the hedonism portrayed by the media is completely separate from the real purpose of the celebration.

Breast flashing is not considered to be a “real” tradition of Mardi Gras, except for mammals with cameras, but rather a phenomenon that surrounds the spring break mentality of the young people that hang out on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

.
The festive parades throughout New Orleans and the South remain a more sacred old school religious celebration frequented by locals, while the wild celebrations occur only on Bourbon Street with thousands of tourists.

Why?
"Why?" is an interesting question. Have you considered the opposite question: "Why not?"?
.
So why exchange beads for exposing body parts intended only for infants? Why DO women flash their breasts at Mardi Gras?

The act of bearing one’s breasts at Mardi Gras dates back to the 1970s, but it drastically increased from 1987 to 1991. Many women attribute the flashing of their breasts to the mass consumption of alcohol [and other intoxicants].

They also report pleasure from violating the expected norms of society as a whole. One study found that 68 percent of men and 63 percent of women had at least 5 or 6 drinks per sitting while at Mardi Gras festivities.

About one-quarter of the men reported having at least 16 drinks per sitting. Whoa.

Casual sex
I'm cutting loose because it's Spring Break!!
The study also reported that 42 percent of men expect to have sex with somebody they meet at Mardi Gras. A third (33%) of all attendees surveyed did, in fact, have sex with someone that they had met at the festivities, and about 50% said at least a few of their friends did, too.

Perhaps we could compare the wild times at Mardi Gras to the activities that take place in Las Vegas. Clearly, there are some similarities between the two.

What happens on Bourbon St. does not necessarily stay on Bourbon St.
Max, we found them, we found them!
In actuality, the craziness is often photographed and videotaped. This can come back to haunt people. It’s widely known that media outlets reserve Bourbon Street balconies at least five years in advance to get the best shots.

One female flasher found out that video footage of her flashing her breasts showed up on a capitalist Girls Gone Wild video. No one asked her to sign a release.

She filed a court case after discovering that her images were on the cover of the DVD and X-rated footage of her within the video.

I love kids, not women's breasts.
Breast flashing and wild behaviors could also be attributed to the concept of mob mentality. With so little inhibition and such large crowds, a single person -- egged on by friends, bead throwers, and alcohol -- could feel her behavior is normal, that she won't necessarily be picked out of a crowd.

One can feel anonymous among a large half-naked crowd of strangers and, thus, be more prone to show the goods.

Some fall into the tourist trap
Another interesting fact is that many of the revelers are out of towners. Many of the partygoers tell interviewers that they are attending Mardi Gras to “escape” their daily lives.

They have the daily stresses of work or school and feel like they need to let off some steam by going to Mardi Gras and completely letting go of their inhibitions. It's a dopamine boost. More

Why do introverts tend to be highly spiritual?

Amber Larson, Ven. Nyanaponika, Wisdom Quarterly; Editor Gregg Prescott, M.S. (in5D.com)

A Manifest for Introverts (in5d.com)
Why do introverts tend to be highly spiritual? Society dictates that we follow specific images projected by the mainstream media, so why do introverts tend to rebel from these stereotypes?

Introverts tend to look within for answers versus having the need for societal approval. Often, extroverts will view the introvert as being antisocial, stuck up, or as a loner. But even with these labels, the introvert will stand his or her ground disregarding how others perceive him or her.

If you are an introvert, then you will find comfort in solitude. You often find yourself immersed in deep thought and contemplation. Your need for approval from others is significantly less than the extrovert as you realize that answers come from within.

While you may partake of social occasions, you often enjoy simply watching the environment around you versus being the center of attention, which many introverts try to avoid. On a metaphysical level, the introvert realizes how we are all connected and does not need the external approval and attention that is often sought after by the extrovert.

Approximately 75% of the world are extroverts, which makes the introvert the minority, yet the introvert will not succumb to societal pressure in order to conform.

While some introverts may be shy, there is a big difference between shyness and being introverted. More

Happily detached?
You know what's good about Buddhism? Viveka, mental and physical withdrawal to strive.

There is a kind of "happiness of detachment," aloofness. Whoever is addicted to society and worldly bustle will not partake of the happiness of renunciation (internal letting go), detachment, peace, and enlightenment" (AN. VII.86).

There are three kinds of "detachment" (viveka) or seclusion according to the Niddesa:
  • (1) bodily detachment (kāya-viveka), that is, abiding in solitude free from alluring sensuous objects;
  • (2) mental detachment (citta-viveka), that is, the inner detachment from sensuous things;
  • (3) detachment from the Five Aggregates of Clinging (upadhi-viveka).
In the description of the first meditative absorption,
  • the words "detached from sensuous things" refer, according to the Path of Purification (Vis.M. IV), to "bodily detachment";
  • the words "detached from karmically unwholesome things" refer to "mental detachment";
  • the words "born of detachment," to the absence of the Five Hindrances to meditation.

Pershing Square

Against the Stream is facilitating a Flash Mob Meditation in Pershing Square -- the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It starts at high noon on October 8, 2011, 12:00 pm.

Flash mobs consist of individuals converging on a public space simultaneously, seemingly without leadership or direction, to create a public spectacle. This is done in various ways.

People will converge on Pershing Square near the corner of 5th St. and Olive St. The point is to simply sit down and meditate for 30 minutes. Join us. All forms of practice are welcome.

Feel free to bring a cushion or anything else needed. When arriving, sit and begin -- no need to check in. See you there!

Poverty = Happiness

Questioning the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of the Government of Tibet in exile, on the subject of poverty and happiness.

  • Why do the poorest people on earth tend to be the happiest?
  • Why are we as Americans so terrified of not being "rich"?
  • Could it be the way we're marketed to?
  • Have we equated power and control with bliss?

Marketing, what marketing? It's even embedded in the News (the Info-tainment): The ridiculous question, Does a flashier car make a man look sexier? is full of subtext: "If you buy more expensive consumer products, then you can have love." And love may just get you happiness.
