(BSV Dhamma Talks) For thousands of years lots of people have been yearning to get enlightened and are practicing hard to be enlightened.

They are practicing very diligently, doing regularly many hours of meditation and listening to lots of Dhamma (Dharma) talks and still want to enjoy the comforts of life.

This is more about heart (citta) than head.

Some are following monastics who are “purported” to be enlightened! They think them very wise for having gotten rid of their “self.”

• [There is a very harmful delusion of a separate self, a self apart from the Five Aggregates clung to as self, that was explained by the Buddha as being ultimately impersonal, not-self, anatta. All things are impermanent, disappointing, and impersonal. Realizing this directly leads to awakening.]

Mindfulness, Bliss, Beyond

They would like to help people but thinking that they don’t have sufficient means to do so, as they have to keep some for themselves and family to maintain their comfortable lifestyle.

Yet, we can see that they often portrayed actions of conceit, ill will, greed, and anger, and so on. But what does it mean to be an enlightened being?

Are there several levels of enlightenment that laypeople may aspire to? What is/are the path(s) and signposts along the Dhamma path signaling that we are on the right path to enlightenment eventually one day in this life or in some future rebirth?

Pasadika is a well-known Theravada Buddhist monk with a solid education who has completed studies under Na Uyana Forest Monastery and a few other forest monasteries in Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Burma. The monk has a Master's degree in Buddhism and research. After completing his education and training in 2012, he started teaching Buddhist education and meditation.  (Sanskrit Dharma Day), Asadha Puja, Asanha Bucha (Thailand), Esala Poya (Sri Lanka), Dhammasekya Boonsang Day (Burma), it is a day observed by Theravada Buddhists, particularly Cambodians, Laotians, Burmese, Sri Lankans, and Thais

It is the Buddhist full moon day of the lunar month of Āsādha [1]. Related to Esala Mangallaya and Kandy's Esala Perahera, which are held as part of Asalha Puja celebrations in Sri Lanka.

It is the Chokor Duchen Festival (Tibet) and Drukpa Tshe Zhi (Bhutan). Asalha Puja (also known as Asadha Puja or Asanha Bucha in Thailand, อาสาฬหบูชา in Thai) is a Theravada Buddhist festival that typically takes place in July, on the full moon of the month of Āsādha.

It is celebrated in Indonesia, Cambodia (ពិធីបុណ្យអាសាឡ្ហបូជា), Thailand, Sri Lanka, Laos, Burma, and in countries abroad with Theravada Buddhist populations.

In Indonesia, the festival is centered at Mendut Temple and Borobudur Temple (the world's largest excavated Buddhist temple) in Central Java.

Dhamma Day is one of Theravada Buddhism's most important festivals, celebrating as it does the Buddha's first sermon, the "Setting in Motion the Wheel of the Dharma" or "Sermon in the Deer Park" at Sarnath, in which he set out to his five former companions the Dharma or Doctrine he had discovered anew as the path that leads to awakening or enlightenment.

This first pivotal sermon, often referred to as “Setting in Motion the Wheel of the Dhamma,” is the teaching encapsulated in the Four Ennobling (Leading to Enlightenment) Truths:

• There is unhappiness (dukkha, disappointment, ill, suffering)
• Unhappiness is caused by craving (tanha) [rooted in delusion]
• There is a state (nirvana) beyond these
• There is a way to nirvana (magga, the Ennobling Eightfold Path.

Now there is a monastic community for all

All the various schools and traditions of Buddhism revolve around this summation, this compact central doctrine often called for short the Four Noble Truths.

This first sermon is not only the first structured sutra or discourse given by the Buddha after his enlightenment, it also said to contain the essence of all his subsequent teachings.

At the end of the sutra, one of the five listeners recounts his understanding of what had been said and asks to be received as a monastic disciple, a request the Buddha grants. This establishes the Order of Buddhist Monks.

The day is observed by donating offerings to temples and listening to Dharma talks. The following day is known in Thai as วันเข้าพรรษา or Wan Khao Phansa: It is the first day of Buddhist Lent (Vassa), the annual Theravada Rains Retreat. More

Ashley Judd was one of the first women to publicly accuse convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein of [workplace] sexual harassment. Time's up.

The NY Times published her and others' accounts alleging decades of predatory sexual behavior by film producer Weinstein — setting off a national conversation about sexual harassment and the #MeToo Movement.

Weinstein apologized the same day in a statement, telling the Times that his behavior with colleagues had "caused a lot of pain." He was fired from the production company he co-founded three days later.

Although Judd also told Variety in 2015 that she had been sexually harassed by a powerful studio mogul, she did not name Weinstein.

NEW YORK CITY, New York - Fashion label "Namilia" deconstructed Asian stereotypes in the porn industry, empowering the demure, submissive (Geisha image) woman with bold dominatrix looks worn exclusively by Asian models at Sunday's show, including several Pornhub actresses porn stars.

The Herotica Collection shown during New York Fashion Week flipped on its head the traditional, buttoned-up Chinese dress. The gown kept the same silhouette but was done in dominatrix faux-leather with a hand-embroidered electric blue dragon snaking across the front. 

Another look featured the same traditional dress on one side of the model, but the other side was stripped down to black leather dominatrix garb. A short, colorful look folded elaborately around the collar into a Chinese takeout box, complete with long, dripping. crystal ramen noodles, and pieces of shrimp with words about male genitalia.

Namilia's message is clear: Women like sex as much as men but are often shamed for it. Porn is typically seen as a man's thing, “but women are also interested in porn and sex, but we were just excluded in the past," said one of the designers, Emilia Pfohl.

The brand reached out to "porn stars" to help them reframe that narrative. “I don't think motherhood and sexuality are mutually exclusive at all," said Pornhub brand ambassador Asa Akira, a 35-year-old college graduate whose been in the business for a dozen years and gave birth to a son last year.

She walked the show wearing a sexy, black kimono-style bodysuit. When she unfurled her arms, fabric hung dramatically to the floor with a reference to wrecking male genitalia. Nothing is off limits for the Berlin-based brand, composed of Pfohl and Nan Li, who met in design school. Their first collection, whose title can't be repeated, featured vagina-empowering references to pop idols including Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus.

Paris Hilton opened their show in 2018, and last year's show featured holograms of a crying Leonardo DiCaprio as well as Justin Bieber prints photo-edited onto Jesus’ body. Celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Rihanna, Cardi B, and Ellie Goulding have all worn the brand.

On Sunday, several looks turned models into Transformers, with oversize, clawlike arms inscribed with sexually empowering words.

A sculptural neon-green and black look included a riff on the Louis Vuitton pattern, but with dollar signs and male genitalia and large, insect-style wings coming out the back. The designers said it was their take on the Victoria's Secret angel wings, in a way that less objectified women.

The schoolgirl uniform was also turned on its head, with a pink and white monogram on a pleated faux-leather skirt. “When is something part of fashion, what's high culture, what's low culture, what's profane, what's not?

Yeah, see? This is normal: sex exploitation.

"And we wanted to take porn into a new context to kind of normalize sex work, prostitution, pornography, and put it in a fashion show context, so there's not as much shame and taboo," Li said in a backstage interview.

Their designs are heavily inspired by pop culture, "looking from the outside at American culture" to create “a revolutionary new feminist youth culture," said Li, who freelanced for Kanye West's brand Yeezy in the past.

Several streetwear looks included edgy motorcycle race suits in feminine pinks and sweatshirts with the Pornhub and Herotica label. The brands were also printed on a stylish black velour tracksuit.

“My scariest thing before I became a porn star was that people judge me and also fear of what my mom would think," said Marica Hase, a 38-year-old from Japan who also walked in the show. “I love porn. I'm a little bit of a naughty girl." More + Photos

NEW YORK (PTI, Dec. 24, 2009) -- Following in the footsteps of her boyfriend, actor Orlando Bloom, supermodel Miranda Kerr has converted to Buddhism in a bid to find her true self in the hustle and bustle of the Hollywood lifestyle.

The Victoria's Secret model who has been dating the heartthrob for the past two years, has embraced a form of Japanese Buddhism, Nichiren Buddhism, to keep herself grounded, reported Sun online.

"I don't like to talk too much about it, but what I will say is that it is very grounding and really centering," she said. Bloom has been a follower of the Eastern religion for some years now.

"The philosophy that I've embraced isn’t about sitting under a tree and studying my navel. It's about studying what is going on in my daily life and using that as fuel to go and live a bigger life. If you are aware of what is going on, then you can grow and use that hunger, that fear," Bloom had said in an interview about his faith.

The Australian beauty is also a keen follower of yoga and says that it's the secret behind her fabulous body.

"I drink lots of water and get as much sleep as possible. I recommend drinking fresh, organic green juices and doing lots of yoga," she said. Source
