Naked Poetry and Füde (NY to LA)

Now I'd like to bring out Leehee Bee, a hot piece of asymptote on our stage for the first time.
.
Reading my poetry is a new kind of "naked"
What performing poetry reveals about language, vulnerability, the fear of being (mis)understood

lihi be, the i in mi, this breath and body
A few months ago, I [Lihi Be] stood on a stage in New York City and performed slam poetry for the first time. The scene was hosted by Nuyorican Poets' Cafe at the Bowery Poetry Club, a small, legendary room where decades of poets have stepped up to a microphone and turned their inner worlds into sound.

It's the kind of place where language has history. where words have weight, where the air still feels charged from the voices that came before.

Could I stand in front of people fully nude?
I remember standing there, waiting my turn, feeling my heart beating in my throat, which surprised me. I’ve spoken in front of rooms before. I’ve guided workshops, taught movement, led breathwork journeys where people open parts of themselves that are tender and alive.

Holding space for others doesn’t scare me. But this was different. This time, I wasn’t holding material space; I was the material. A poem I wrote alone earlier that morning was about to leave the page and hit the stage, entering a room full of strangers, not through dead ink, but through my living breath, my voice, my body.

Lihi Benisty poetry: Self
Until that moment, "poetry" was something I wrote, never something I performed. When I published my book, The Self, Reframed, it felt like a big step outward. Suddenly the poems were technically "public." Someone, anyone, could order the book, underline a passage, carry a piece of it into her own life.

Butt even then, there was still distance. The page protected me. Readers meet a poem alone. They can pause, reread, close the book, throw it in the garbage disposal, flip the switch, make acid-free wood pulp that washes out to sea... That meeting happens quietly, inside their own interior worlds.

Shame? We refuse to limit ourselves
Slam poetry is different: Spoken word removes the distance. When one performs a poem, there is no safe distance, no page between the room and the I performing. My breath carries my language. My nervous system becomes part of the delivery. My voice, my pauses, my trembling chest -- all of it becomes part of my poem.

In some ways, it feels easier to be naked than to perform one's own poem, in the woods, with someone you love, in front of Mother Nature, playing pretend it's Adam and Eve in a Sumerian garden.

Look, it's the real me!
I was in New York for a series of gatherings -- one of them a nude experience I was hosting with the Füde Experience: a roomful of naked people exploring embodiment, mindful presence, the simplicity of being in our bodies without the usual layers of social armor.

Standing naked in a room with others didn’t feel nearly as vulnerable as standing on this stage. In fact, being naked felt surprisingly simple. Source: a poem is a different kind of naked (seeds of the self)

Me and My Shadow: looking young (Jung)

(Mindova) Why spiritually awakened people look younger than their age: Carl Jung
  • Here "awakened" should not be conflated with Buddhist "enlightenment" (bodhi) since every spiritual tradition will have its own definition of what it is calling the peak realization, moksha, liberation. And even if they use the same words for it (like "nirvana"), it is not the same. For example, Hinduism and Buddhism are VERY different in all the subtle details, but in the West think they're just about identical with some name changes. There would be no need for Buddhism if it were saying what Hindus want to believe and hear. Another example is Jainism. Jains are much closer to Buddhists than Hindus, but they are still worlds apart. Both are wandering ascetic traditions, but Mahavira's insights and explanations did not hold up to the Buddha's scrutiny. Mahavira understood much, attained much, but did not become an arahant (enlightened one in the Buddhist sense of the word). That should show anyone that details matter, differences matter. We can all agree and hold hands and talk about our commonalities on our spiritual quest, but for goodness sakes we have to talk about the contrasts and differences to really benefit one another.

Pervert assaults Future-Pres. AOC (video)

Right wing pervert assaults AOC on Capitol steps

My Latin beauty shouldn't have any...
(The Young Turks) While walking up the Capitol steps to work recently, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) was accosted and sexually harassed as she tried to get to her office. Ana Kasparian and cohost Cenk Uygur discuss the incident on TYT.

AOC states: "Here is a video he [the pervert] posted of the incident. I was actually walking over to deck him [with my fist] because if no one will protect us then I’ll do it myself, but I needed to catch a vote more than a case today." (See uncensored video: AOC/X).

Is this "sexual harassment"? (Should Bernie be getting so handsy?)

Now allowed in Hegseth's Army
Sexual harassment is a type of harassment based on the biological sex or cultural gender of a target.

It can involve offensive sexist or sexual behavior, verbal or physical actions, up to bribery, coercion, and assault [without physical contact].

Harassment may be explicit or implicit, with some examples including
  • making unwanted sexual remarks,
  • actions that insult and degrade by gender,
  • showing pornography,
  • demanding or requesting sexual favors,
  • offensive sexual advances, and
  • any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal (sometimes provocative) conduct based on sex [1].
Sexual harassment includes a range of actions from verbal transgressions to sexual abuse or assault [2]. Harassment can occur in many different social settings such as the workplace, the home, school, or religious institutions. Harassers or victims can be of any gender [3]. More

Move to White House or Senate?
Elect me to fight oligarchy with VP Bernie!
(Axios) Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and her team are positioning her to run for the White House or the U.S. Senate in 2028, according to people familiar with her operation. Why it matters: Ocasio-Cortez's 2028 decision could shake up the presidential race or the Senate's leadership. A fellow New Yorker, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, 74, is up for re-election in 2028. More
Please, Donald, don't do this to me, to my CA
CNN recently broke down a poll for early choices for a democratic presidential nominee in 2028, which found that AOC is currently polling at 12% behind California Gov. Gavin Newsom, which is 10% more than what Sen. Bernie Sanders was polling in comparison to Sec'y of State Hillary Clinton in 2014. More
