The veil is thin: Where to go? Portals

Don't go in there! It's a creep zone
"The veil" is thinnest at this time of year. What veil? There is a separation of realms, dimensions, ranges. We humans stay here and do not go beyond our range. But if we go, we tread lightly and carefully. There be monsters there. Spirits, creatures, entities really exist, traversing in and out of this dimension. Psychic powers, called abhinna and iddhi, make them visible. Where would be the best place to see otherworldly powers coming and going?

Visit to Turkmenistan, Central Asia (video)

There is a Gateway to Hell, a major tourist draw in Turkmenistan (Darvaza gas crater),
The dictator upstairs is limiting tourists to the entrance, I hear. Here he is. Let's ask him.
  • World-famous Afghan Buddhas of Bamiyan
Buddhism in Central Asia may sound strange, but Buddhism really began in Central Asia (a place some might call the Stans), where the Buddha was born and raised: Scythia, Saka, Gandhara. While legend has him in Nepal, Dr. Ranajit Pal and archeology corrects that notion.
  • Ancient Gandhara is some modern Stans
The largest Buddhist monuments and monasteries in the world are in modern Afghanistan, and they did not arrive there via the Silk Road transmission but had already been there even as Bihar was populated with so many Vihar's that it got its name as an Indian state. They were celebrating their native son, who returned seven years after he set off on his quest. There was no "India" at that time, only Magadha and other independent kingdoms that were united two centuries later by Buddhist Emperor Ashoka. In these strange and little-known countries there are Buddhist artifacts that make little sense until one places "Scythiamuni" Buddha in his proper context, in a land from in and around Indo-Saka-stan.

Today is the Spring Equinox (March 19)

Rachaeal (13 News); Bridget Nielsen; Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Dhr. Seven, Wisdom Quarterly

Meditation reveals the real world.
Today is the first day of spring (March 19, 2020, 8:49 pm west coast, 11:49 pm east coast) in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the change of seasons as Los Angeles goes from winter rains to spring showers all in the same day.

The surrounding mountains are full of snow. The rain devas (and chemtrails) are washing away the new flu virus the media is whipping us into a frenzy about. What is an "equinox"? Night and day look equal. How?

Science has a theory for everything, even if those speculations are often mostly wrong. Don't worry. Someone will imagine a new theory to replace each theory as it becomes untenable. We are NOT told the truth much, but we should probably figure it out ourselves. How? We can meditate to regain the mental powers that allow us to see directly for ourselves. Until then, science and mysticism are all we have, indirectly. Like fools we live on faith.

(Bridget Nielsen) Five ways to prepare for spring 2020, Ascension update

First we hear from the boring world of high school science explanations and the priesthood of white-clad (lab coat) scientists then the exciting expanded reality of Contactee Bridget Nielsen preparing for Ascension on March 20, 2020. We'll take "witchy" women's wisdom with the patriarchal platitudes forced down our throats for a little balance.

Notorious FDA? Feds turn to Hip-Hop to tamp down teen smoking
For its latest anti-tobacco campaign, the Food and Drug Administration wants to harness hip-hop swagger to reach minority teens -- who disproportionately suffer the consequences of smoking. Disaster ensues. More

Dunhuang: Buddhist Art at Silk Road Gateway

Reproduction of a 6th-century pillar at the Mogao Caves (Perry Hu/China Institute Gallery)

The China Institute routinely packs a wealth of art and information way out of proportion to its two tiny galleries.

At present they hold a distillation of one of China’s greatest Buddhist art sites: the Mogao Caves (pictured left) near the far western oasis city of Dunhuang.

According to legend, the caves originated some 2,000 years ago with a miracle: a wandering Buddhist monk camped by a desert cliff heard voices encouraging him to stay. He chiseled a shelter out of the rock and hunkered down. Other monks joined him; a community gathered.

More caves were excavated, some as spaces for [veneration], and these were adorned with frescoes and painted clay sculptures. As Dunhuang became a commercial hub on the Silk Road, the caves, numbering in the hundreds, became a pilgrimage destination. They remained one for centuries until trade routes shifted, traffic stopped, and Mogao was forgotten.

European explorers rediscovered the place in the 19th and early 20th centuries and pillaged it, carrying off thousands of manuscripts and paintings stored in the so-called Library Cave.

At the end of the 20th century, the caves began to attract tourism, which posed major threats to the art. To save it, the group of archaeologists on site and conservators known as the Dunhuang Academy, is building an elaborate visitor center nearby, which will serve as a museum and offer a surrogate cave experience as access to the real caves becomes restricted.

The China Institute show -- organized by Fan Jinshi, director of the Dunhuang Academy, with Willow Weilan Hai Chang, director of the China Institute Gallery -- gives a sense of what that experience might be like. More

    Occupy the Super Bowl (video)

    Wisdom Quarterly

What is American football symbolic of? According to Jean Houston, the game is 11 young heroes guiding the sacred egg through the womb of the goal posts while ersatz virgins cheer them on ecstatically. This year the Occupy Movement will remind the 1% and the global TV -viewing population that we are still here and Wall Street bankers are still exerting undue influence on our political systems. What influence? "Right to work" legislation has one purpose and one purpose alone -- to destroy unions.

    The protests continue

Occupy protesters hope to grab a share of the Super Bowl 2012 spotlight. Demonstrations to include march against "right to work" legislation. Super Bowl XLVI is bringing tens of thousands of football fans to Indianapolis, but it is also attracting a collection of protest groups. The Occupy movement, known for its protests against Wall Street, will take over the south lawn of the Statehouse... More

Occupy Oakland (rare 2012 footage) MORE

(Homer1co) After a prolonged battle with NFL management, unionized players have a lot of nerve playing in a state that is going to deny labor rights to workers. That makes NFL players scabs or hypocrites. Should we boycott the NFL until they get their head back in the fresh air and out of...? All union-member NFL might consider doing the same. The NFL players' union should be the one to call for a Superbowl strike but it is the 99%. Without the union NFL players would not be where they are today. More

As Indiana pressed forward to pass the (Doublespeak) "Right to Work" bill, Gigguy Warner and his fellow tradesman have something to say about it. This bogus bill is wrong, and senators need to hear our voice as unionized workers. The round is lost but the fight is not over!

What is Obama doing taxing the rich at a level close to Clinton and destroying unions?
