We were all taught to believe that the people of Easter Island (Rapa Nui) destroyed themselves by destroying their environment until the last tree was chopped down, bringing that civilization from decline to a perilous end. But that's not quite what happened. The only people in the South Pacific to develop their own language and writing system used incredible technology we do not understand and probably cannot mimic today to create moai (activated statues) with eyes made of iridescent shells watching over them, somehow buried so deep in the ground that only their massive heads stick out. It was the Europeans who arrived and possibly brought vermin and disease with them, to say nothing of their greed, malice, and eagerness to enslave and exploit the Natives that ruined this distant outpost of humanity.

Dear Mr. Trump 'n Pres. Elon (Bill Maher)

(PBS NewsHour) Protestors join more than 1,000 rallies across the US against Trump’s policies
Los Angeles and Pasadena had massive turnouts for Hands Off! April 5th peaceful demonstrations and protests, with many clever signs and a great show of solidarity. That is only two of over 1,000 simultaneous actions across the country and other parts of the world. Trump is launching a trade war, and no one is happy about it.

- "Tesla Takedown" (teslatakedown.com) protests have happened in cities around the country in opposition to Elon Musk's DOGE work.
- There used to be an Occupy Movement (occupy.com) before it was infiltrated, co-opted, and neutralized to a ghost of an operation

Hands Off! our government and veterans' benefits, Trump and Musk
Meanwhile, some Tesla owners have said they have faced insults or vandalism amid the Musk criticism. Participants of the protests have called for a boycott of the EV giant in response to Musk's involvement with the Trump administration and DOGE's efforts to decrease the size of the federal workforce.
The "Tesla Takedown" effort started on BlueSky, a competitor to Musk's X platform, and now has a dedicated website. The site calls for Tesla owners to sell their vehicles and stock in an effort to "stop Musk now."
The website's organizer (teslatakedown.com), "Bill & Ted" actor and filmmaker Alex Winter, wrote in a Rolling Stone op-ed that demonstrations have happened at over 100 Tesla showrooms and other locations. Tesla owner and shareholder David Abrams told Business Insider he's heard about multiple protests but wasn't aware of the "takedown" effort specifically. More

"Bohemian Trumpsody" - Marsh Family adapts "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen
Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Freddy Mercury was the inimitable mock opera lead single from the album A Night at the Opera released in 1975. It was a monstrous production, created across eight generations of 24-track tape and with hundreds of overdubs, complex layered harmonies, subsections, and aural innovations.
The (New) Village People sing about Trump on Epstein Island
At its core are the spectacular vocals of Freddie Mercury – one of the finest singers ever in top form.
It has been parodied so many times, including an iconic version by the Muppets (which the kids loved and grew up with), and it’s been twisted to fit subjects from the menopause to coronavirus.
But the chosen subject is the willingness of so many decent people to hold their nose and -- likely -- vote for a madman, a mockery of everything good, D'John Trump in the forthcoming presidential election.
We know we’ve sung about it twice already, and the family doesn’t live or vote in the USA. But the whole world has a stake in this election. And it’s a place that wants to remain a free world, at least for now.
We chose not to riff off the many daft claims, stories, or issues (the cat ladies and edible cats and dogs), but just to try to cut to the fundamentals and think about behaviors, facts, values, and history. Some of the footage is from the U.S. congressional hearings.

Lost world found in Mexico: SM Ixtapan
We found a lost world in Mexico | Vestigios de una civilización desconocida
(The ARX Project) SAN MIGUEL IXTAPAN, Tejupilco de Hidalgo - Less than three hours from Mexico City lies a lost world of deep basalt canyons, towering mountain peaks, secret caves, and mysterious megalithic stone monuments left by an as yet unknown civilization that could have a connection to the cultures of Peru and South America.
- [NOTE: The country of Mexico is in North America, but as that is an unpopular thing to say politically and economically, an additional designation was created to distinguish it from North, Central, and South America, and that is called Mesoamerica. The Americas are contiguous and connected.]
In June 2024, The ARX Project Team conducted a successful exploration of the upper course of the Aquiagua ["Here water"] River near the San Miguel Ixtapan Archeological Zone, documenting and mapping a large number of ancient structures including rock shelters, stone terraces and bridges, and a megalithic quarry, containing a huge 25-ton partially carved stone slab.
Evidence strongly suggests that the Aquiagua River provided a direct communication route between the Pacific Ocean and the central Mexican altiplano, by way of the Balsas River.
