The Bible's Christian-Jewish Goddess

Queen of Heaven? Virgin coronation
Asherah (Hebrew אֲשֵׁרָה, Romanized ʾĂšērā, Ugaritic 𐎀𐎘𐎗𐎚, Romanized ʾAṯiratu; Akkadian 𒀀𒅆𒋥, Romanized Aširat [3], Qatabanian 𐩱𐩻𐩧𐩩 ʾṯrt) [4] was the principal Goddess of ancient Semitic religions, appearing in biblical texts but then systematically erased.

Asherah also appears in Hittite writings as Ašerdu(š) or Ašertu(š) (Hittite 𒀀𒊺𒅕𒌈, Romanized a-še-er-tu) [5, 6] and as Athirat in Ugarit as the consort of the main God of the Bible, ʾEl [7], who became Yahweh (YHWH, Jehovah), as He announces in the Bible.

Asherah was the major Goddess in ancient Northwest Semitic cultures, associated with fertility, motherhood, sacred trees [8].
  • Canaan became Palestine then Israel
The name "Canaan" appears throughout the Bible as the "Promised Land"...an ethnic catch-all term. More
  • Thereafter Canaan became, for all practical purposes, the Land of Israel...all the tribes of Israel (britannica.com).
  • The Goddess Asherah played a major and enduring role in the old Canaanite religion of future Israel, with mythical tales and stories influencing neighboring religions. Canaan is an old name for Israel.
  • If we had a Goddess, religion might be wonderful
  • What is the modern perception and worship of Asherah? Banned, erased, forgotten. Her influence spanned cultures over many centuries. Asherah began as an ancient Canaanite goddess of love, war, fertility, with priestesses aiding in the worship of the divine feminine.
  • The Goddess Asherah: Queen of Heaven,
    Mother of Creation (medium.com)
She is often portrayed as a nurturing fertility goddess, associated with fecundity and the fertility of the land. She was the consort of the Semitic peoples' God El, where She played a central role in the holy family and divine pantheon. Her worship involved ritual practices that included setting up sacred poles and offering sacrifices. Her significance in Canaanite mythology is evident in the archeological findings of inscriptions and artifacts dedicated to Her, highlighting Her enduring impact on the religious beliefs and practices... legendaryladieshub.com

Asherah was considered the Goddess of the Sea, while "Her husband El" was considered the God of "Heaven" [9] or the sky [apparently making a fallen Lucifer the satanic God of Earth in later interpretations, though Earth has always been conceived of as feminine for receiving rain from the sky that makes seeds grow], making her the Queen of Heaven (long before Mother Mary, the Catholic Queen of Heaven, or Kwan Yin).
Islam also remembers Asherah/Elat (al-Lat)
  • The El was the original name of the tribal Semitic God is attested to in many words still in use, such as IsraEL, GabriEL, MichaEL, RaphaEL, ELohim, Ba'EL, AzarEL, and so on.
  • Judaism was never actually a monotheistic religion as many claim. It has always been henotheistic and for a long time quite polytheistic, in some even pantheistic.
Asherah was sometimes called ELat (Elat, like the pre-Islamic Goddess EL-lat or al-Lat), the feminine equivalent of El [10] and held titles such as "holy" (qdš), "lady" (rbt), or "progenitress of the gods" (qnyt ỉlm) [9].

Fertility Mother Goddess Asherah
Asherah's iconography frequently depicted Her with pronounced feminine sexual features, often combined with tree motifs like date palms, highlighting her role as a fertility goddess. Some artifacts, such as the Revadim Asherah figurines, illustrate her breastfeeding children or displaying sexual imagery, emphasizing her maternal and generative symbolism.

Asherah's worship may also be reflected in phallic Asherah poles, "cultic" objects [turned occult ("hidden") by patriarchal priests wishing to erase her from his-story] frequently mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, though scholars try to debate whether these represent the Goddess Herself or sacred symbols of the holy [11, 7].

Phallic buxom Asherah pole figurine
Asherah's influence extended across many regions, including Israel and Judah (then Judea), Philistia (modern Gaza in Palestine), Egypt, Canaan, and Arabia (the Arabian Peninsula later Saudi Arabia), appearing -- like the counterpart male God -- under many different female names with many different roles rolled up into one omnipotent entity.

Asherah was considered the consort of Yahweh in the ancient Levant, as suggested by inscriptions at Kuntillet Ajrud and Khirbet el-Qom. But modern (post erasure) interpretations vary, and some scholars try to argue that these references describe holy objects rather than the Goddess [12, 13, 7].

Asherah bore many similarities with other goddesses -- such as Shapshu, Hathor, and Qetesh -- which strongly suggests her image and attributes influenced surrounding cultures.

What might have been if She were not erased?
Asherah was for millennia also linked to sacred fertility rites, which may have included women of status in ritual activities and priestesses. The denigrating association with temple prostitution, which in ancient times involved males and females, is now debated (and was clearly an attempt to explain Her away in the cover up after she was reduced and erased).

Asherah's worship was suppressed over time due to imposed monotheistic (henotheistic) reforms, and in later texts, references to Asherah were systematically erased by being retranslated as "groves" or "sacred trees" rather than directly as the Goddess. More

Female enlightened masters went 'insane'?

Four female enlightened masters who went completely “insane”
Taoist Master Sun Bu'er
Asangoham(Asangoham) May 28, 2026: #egodeath #consciousness #nonduality Four women throughout history were called "insane," possessed, and heretical. But each one had broken through to a level of awakening most people never touch.

This is the story of mystics who looked mad on the outside but were actually living proof of the deepest spiritual truths ever discovered.

1. Sun Bu'er destroyed her own beauty to escape the prison of the ego and became the only woman among the Seven Immortals of Taoism.
  • Young Sri Anandamayi Ma
QUESTIONGurudev, what does Asangoham [the name of this channel] mean? Gurudev, kindly explain the meaning of Asangoham (a phrase often chanted by Gurudev in the Advanced Meditation or Silence Course).
  • ANSWER (by Gurudev @SriSriRaviShankar ji): "I am not this," that is what Asangoham means. For example, I am wearing the cloth, but I am not the cloth...I am not the body. I am not the thoughts, I am not the mind. Like this you go on to negate one by one all the layers of identity. And finally when you ask, "Who am I?" You will find nothing. "I am nothing..." That is what Asangoham is. Sangoham means "being one with it." If I think I am my clothes, then that is a problem. I am beyond all these layers of existence. If I think that I am my thoughts, my emotions, my sensations then I lose track of my vast nature. Therefore, to reach the realization of our vastness we say, "I am not this and I am not th[at]," repeatedly.
  • Gurudev sings: Mano Budhyahankaar Chittani Naaham, Na Cha Shrotra Jihve Na Cha Ghraana netre Na Cha Vyoma Bhumir Na Tejo Na Vayuh, Chidananda Rupah Shivoham Shivoham (from the Atma-shatkam by Adi Shankara-Acharya): "I am not the mind, intellect, memory, or ego. I am not this, not this, not this. This is the way of negating and going into that hollow and empty space. This shiva tattva is what I really am. This realization is what meditation is, that is samadhi.
  • [EDITOR'S NOTE: Buddhism goes further to the realization that ANY identification is in error, and because there is no-self (no-atman, anatta, no soul, no self, no ego to cling to, in the ultimate sense, one lets go, ceases to cling, as is liberated to Truth, to enlightenment, to nirvana). But because the Old Vedic Religion and later Hinduism are not aware of this, they call Atma-shatkam Nirvana-shatkam as this level of "self realization" is the highest attainable for them. Were they to practice in line with what "Lord Buddha" taught, they might well make an end of all further rebirth and suffering, but ordinary worldlings, even the spiritual kind, are not interested in that. They long for rebirth in the heaven they deem supreme, the World of Brahma, and fail to grasp what Brahman is. No one should ever mistakenly think Vedic Hinduism and Buddhism teach the same thing. They are worlds apart for all their shared language and history.]
2. Anandamayi Ma surrendered her freewill so completely that she became a living puppet of the divine.
Valenciennes. Marguerite Porete, une héroïne médiévale méconnue
.
3. Marguerite Porete [French Christian mystic] smiled as she burned at the stake for teaching that the awakened soul outgrows religion itself.

4. Bernadette Roberts [Carmelite Catholic nun] lost God, lost her self, and walked straight into the void to discover the raw truth of pure consciousness.

“Only God is love, and for this love to be fully realized self must step aside. And not only do we not need a self to love God, but for the same reason we do not need a mind to know [God], for that in us which knows God, is God.”

How sweet to glimpse the Truth
This deep dive explores non-duality, ego death, enlightenment, and the terrifying spiritual awakenings that the world mistook for insanity.

Drawn to Advaita Vedanta (nondualism), Taoist internal alchemy, Christian mysticism, consciousness, and the [true] nature of the self? This journey into the minds of history's (herstory's) most misunderstood mystics will stay with you.

First female 'Pope' for Church of England

Anglican leader: the Archbishop of Canterbury

A historic shift: Sarah Mullally becomes first female head of the Church of England

Don't spoil this for us, Sinead!
Right Honorable Dame Sarah Mullally has‌ broken barriers, ascending to the position of [the 106th] archbishop of Canterbury. This momentous ⁢appointment, announced on October 3rd, marks a pivotal turning point for the Church of England ⁣and the wider Anglican Communion.

Don't think of me as a woman!
She is the 106th individual to hold this esteemed⁣ role and, significantly, she is the first ‍woman to lead the⁣ church established nearly 500 years ago.

The Church of England’s origins trace back to 1534, when King Charles VIII sought to circumvent the ⁤[Roman Catholic] Pope’s refusal to annul‌ his marriage to Catherine of Aragon [who due to him would not bear him a male heir].
  • We say "Pope," but the official Church says she's the "ceremonial head" or primus inter pares, "first among equals.
This act fundamentally reshaped the religious landscape ⁣of England ⁤and now, centuries later, ‌it’s experiencing another profound transformation.

Rome still rules the world with its pope.
[Pope] Mullally, 63, was a leading⁤ contender to succeed Justin Welby, who stepped down in November 2024. Her reputation as⁤ a highly capable administrator undoubtedly played a key role in her ⁣selection.
The Selection Process: An Intentional Path
What Brits need is more pomp 'n circumstance.
The Crown Nominations Commission, responsible for filling the Church of England’s most senior positions, chose Mullally. This commission⁤ comprises prominent bishops‍ and archbishops, and⁣ its process differs significantly‌ from the papal conclaves⁣ of the [Roman] Catholic Church. Here’s ‍a breakdown of how the selection unfolds:
  • Extensive⁣ Consultation: The Commission engages in months of thorough discussions and evaluations.
  • Rigorous review: Candidates are assessed on ⁤their theological understanding, leadership skills, and administrative experience.
  • Governmental Approval: Ultimately, the⁣ chosen nominee ‌requires validation from both the [UK] Prime Minister [Keir Starmer] and the King of England [Charles III], reflecting ⁣the Church of England’s‌ status as the state religion.
I’ve found that this deliberate, multi-layered process underscores the gravity of the Archbishop of Canterbury's position and the importance of selecting a ⁣leader equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities facing the church today. More

Tara, the Goddess(es) of Buddhism

TARA: The most powerful Goddess in Buddhism — and why she refused to be reborn as a male
(Buddha's Wisdom) Dec. 7, 2025: ⚡ THE BUDDHIST GODDESS WHO ANSWERS BEFORE WE FINISH PRAYING. Tara is Buddhism's most powerful female deity [of course, most would argue that designation actually belongs to Bodhisattva Kwan Yin (Guanyin, Chenrezig, Kwannon) the Goddess of Compassion].

But Tara's not just a goddess, she's a fully enlightened buddha who defied every monk who ever told her to become a man.

Born from the compassionate tears of Avalokiteshvara [who was transformed into the feminine deity Kwan Yin], Green Tara took a sacred vow to remain female forever and save beings faster than any other enlightened being in Buddhist history.
  • [Buddhist "history" is much older than it is ever given credit for because the historical Buddha spoke of at least 28 previous supremely awakened buddhas in this great aeon and countless before that in the endless cycle of time or three ages of past, present, and future. Much of what Shakyamuni Buddha, born Prince Siddhartha Gautama, taught he either discerned on the spot or recalled from casting his mind back to how previous buddhas had handled various situations.]
From Tibetan warriors carrying her image into battle to modern practitioners calling her name in life-or-death emergencies, Tara represents the radical feminine power that [some male-centric element, likely a monastic one or a worldwide influence and push to bury the divine feminine in Abrahamic and Dharmic religions like] Buddhism tried to hide for centuries.

This is the untold story of Tara: the "Female Buddha" who can move faster than fear.

Mary Mother of Jesus: life details

Is the Vatican responsible for the Koran (Quran), the sacred texts of Islam? Did they create these texts or have them compiled, another psyop to control yet another group of people? It is odd that the only woman mentioned by name is Mary (Miriam, Maria), the mother of the prophet, St. Issa (Jesus).

Lost Gospel of Wisdom: Mary Magdalene

Athena Pallas as Sophia
Who is the Mother of Wisdom in ancient proto-India? It is Shari (Sari), mother of Śāriputra (the "Son of Sari," Upatissa), the Buddha's chief male disciple declared "foremost in wisdom," the counterpart of Khema, the Buddha's chief female disciple declared "foremost in wisdom." In Vedic Maha Bharat and later in Hindu India, the Goddess of Wisdom is known as Saraswati. In Europe and the West (list of knowledge deities), we say it is the Goddess Sophia. But the Gnostics knew that long ago. And this "Sara" seems reflected in the Aryan ("Enlightened") Taras, goddesses in Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism.

Wisdom Quarterly converts to Gnosticism

OM, knowledge is king and compassion queen.
Big announcement: Beginning tomorrow, Wisdom Quarterly: American Buddhist Journal will switch to Gnosticism, having been convinced by Prof. Pagels and other Gnostic Bible scholar like Prof. Bart D. Ehrman, Dr. Ammon Hillman, The Gnostic Informant, and Danny Jones... Of Gnosticism, Dr. Hillman explains, these teachings are timeless, but that is not to say eternal. They are aionic, outside of time, just as can be said of the historical Buddha's Dhamma, recorded in the Tipitaka, the Timeless Teaching, which the Vedas (and Brahminical Mahayana Buddhism) call the Sanatan Dharma, "the Eternal Truth."
